I read so many reviews and looked at all the dishwasher brands/models on display in stores. This model has all the features and bells/whistles available without spending $2k+ #1 interior led lighting is a big plus! #2 built-in ph app control w/Alexa & Google with having to buy a separate module #3 real steam for pre-wash/wash cycles #4 10 cycles options & programs #5 changeable ending cycle songs #6 quad lower spray arm #7 real blower hot air drying #8 The best adjustable racks I've ever seen in a dishwasher. I've had different dishwashers for over 50 yrs and this one's been the very best at cleaning, drying plus so very very quiet too! And yes, I sure did buy the 5 yr service warranty coverage too for more peace of mind.

We got our LDPH7972S nearly two months and boy, is it fantastic! Actually, "game changer" sums it up best. Don't listen to the negative reviews - if you're like us and haven't upgraded your dishwasher in over 10 years, you will be completely awed by how AMAZING this LDPH7972S is in comparison. For starters, it is SO quiet! We never ran our old dishwasher at night, it was so loud. Not this one: we frequently run it on a delay after midnight for time of use savings on our electric bill and we never hear it running! Instead, we're greeted in the morning with sparkling dishes, cups and utensils to be put away. The LDPH7972S does an incredible job of cleaning and drying, especially compared to our old dishwasher. With Finish rinsing agent and quality dish detergent tabs, whatever we wash comes out sparkling clean. We've also found the Night Dry with Dry boost gets everything dry, with the only exception being the bottoms of upside-down coffee mugs or anything else that can collect water if not overturned and/or angled correctly. That's also vast improvement over what we were used to seeing with our old dishwasher. Another feature we like is how easy it is to lower or raise the second and third racks. I could go on about all of the great features of the LDPH7972S, such as the ThinQ app - but suffice it to say that every feature that LG describes on their website about this dishwasher are spot on and work just as described. But there are a couple of incredible features that might go unnoticed in other reviews, so we will mention them here. First, the LDPH7972S is a sleek and beautifully designed dishwasher that instantly upgraded our kitchen and forever transformed our experience with dishwashing. Second are the LED lights, both on the inside of the dishwasher as well as the external LED display that appears near the top center of the door when the machine is powered on. These latter two features are game-changers. Being able to see clearly inside the machine upon opening the door is obviously wonderful, and the exterior LED display is pure, high-tech sorcery. See our uploaded photo of the external LED: I can't stop marveling at how it magically appears without there being any hint of a display screen in the stainless-steel door. Thanks to this LED display, you’ll always know the time remaining on the selected wash cycle. It then displays “End” when done, so you’ll never have to open your dishwasher to find out if it’s really done. We love doing our dishes with the LDPH7972S and you will, too!

Nice dishwasher that cleans pretty well. Very quiet compared to our old one. It seemed to get a little louder until the filter/trap was cleaned. I dont know if that was it or just coincidental but it was quieter after. Interior light is nice. App gives you plenty of control.

I replaced my 15-year-old Whirlpool, which was a total workhorse but had started shorting out. After a lot of research, I initially went with a Bosch 500. It was whisper-quiet, but I couldn’t stand the lower rack design and had alignment issues with the middle rack’s back nozzle. Since we were still within the Best Buy 15-day return window, we swapped it out for this 42dB LG, even though I was a bit hesitant due to LG’s reputation for reliability issues.
PROS:
Rack Design: Absolutely love it. Super customizable and user-friendly!
Interior Lights: Game changer. Makes loading and unloading so much easier.
Buttons: Intuitive, simple, great options!
App: Easy to use
CONS:
Noise Levels: This was the biggest disappointment. Despite being rated at 42dB, the LG pumps water out multiple times during a single cycle! And it’s LOUD!
Poor Sound Insulation: The fill line is positioned right at the front of the unit, so you hear everything. The kick plate does almost nothing to buffer sound, and the bottom of the unit is essentially open, allowing even more noise to escape.
Inconsistent Cleaning: We rinse dishes thoroughly before loading, yet sometimes food residue still remains. We've had to stick to the Normal cycle, since the Heavy cycle seems to have 6–9 separate fill/drain cycles, which gets super annoying and LOUD.
Drying: Dishes still come out with water on top of coffee mugs and on plastics. Need to test with longer dry functions.
Summary: When it’s in a washing phase, it is quiet, but the frequent draining and filling really kill the peace you'd expect from a 42dB machine.

I wanted to love this. I found the app completely useless other than to add missing options. They clearly ran out of space on the panel. It is super quiet. If you use the third rack at the top, it inhibits the second rack from getting its cleanest. It works well but I wish I went with a brand I prefer, like KitchenAid. No matter how much research you do, you just don't know until you're using it. Too much technology and by the way, it takes an average of 2 and 1/2 hours per load.

I recently purchased the LG dishwasher with 42dba that allows for conversations to continue uninterrupted, even in close proximity to the appliance. This is a game-changer, especially for those who value a peaceful home environment.
Besides its quiet charm, the cleaning capabilities of the LG dishwasher are commendable. It tackles tough stains and dried-on food with ease, leaving dishes spotless. The adjustable racks and well-thought-out interior design make loading and unloading so much easier..
if you're in the market for a quiet, high-performing dishwasher, the LG model is certainly worth considering. I am pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to those seeking a top-tier dishwasher with a focus on quiet functionality.

Overall my wife and I do enjoy this dishwasher. It does clean and dry very well. The things we don't like are the adjustable organizers. They fall too easily. The third rack makes the middle rack too short for those taller cups. If you move the middle rack down to get more space for the cups, the jet bar then hits the plates. You can overcome this by removing the top rack, but then you have to find a spot to hide it. Lastly we're not a fan of the silverware rack being at the back of the bottom rack. We're used to it being at the front with our last dishwasher.

My LG Dishwasher Is a Time-Traveling Sorcerer in D

I don’t usually write reviews because I’m too busy wrestling raccoons off my compost bin, but I had to pause life and praise this LG dishwasher—which, I’m now convinced, is powered by some form of ancient, kitchen-based sorcery.
This thing doesn’t just clean dishes. It erases sins. I put in a plate that had lasagna fossils from 2003—archaeologists had given up on it—and the LG made it sparkle like it had never known the horrors of microwave cheese.
The first time I ran it, I heard a gentle hum… then saw a glow. My neighbor’s lights dimmed. I’m not saying this dishwasher siphons power from another dimension, but my Wi-Fi got faster and my back pain went away. Coincidence? I think not.
The TrueSteam™ feature? Oh, it’s true all right. I opened the door mid-cycle (don’t do this) and got misted in the face—it was like being kissed by a thousand eucalyptus angels. My pores have never looked better.
And the QuadWash™? Buddy, it doesn't just wash dishes. It interrogates them. Grease flees. Grime repents. It’s the Liam Neeson of dishwashers—"I will find you, and I will clean you."
I once loaded it with just a spoon to test it. When I opened the door, the spoon was polished, the kitchen smelled like citrus, and somehow, it had folded my laundry.
In short: 10/10. Would let this dishwasher babysit my kids.

Honestly, yes its a bit more pricey and I’m absolutely happy that I decided to go with this dishwasher instead of one that cost less. This thing is going above and beyond my expectations. theres three racks , heated coil to dry, and even a light on the interior !!! Its wifi enabled and does a spectacular job cleaning the dishes. Best buy even confirmed delivery and installation ( figured might as well get a third party to install) and they were professional and even installed an outlet underneath the kitchen cabinet to ensure the dishwasher sits correctly in the designated spot. Whole process was painless, honestly.

This dishwasher is as advertised!! So quite that one can stand directly next to it and cannot tell if it is running or not. Dishes always come out clean and dry, with the dry boost option it makes the dishwasher money well worth spent...definitely recommend to family and friends.

So far great, I washed amazing and is very quiet, easy to level, and awesome tray layout. I have to try all the wash cycles but I will say the quick wash cycle is it only fast but does a great job washing.

The LG LDPH7972D dishwasher is a marvel in home appliances. It operates so quietly, it's easy to forget it's running, perfect for maintaining a serene home atmosphere. Additionally, its drying capabilities are exceptional, leaving dishes spotlessly dry and ready for use. This model blends sophisticated design with top-tier functionality, making it an ideal choice for any modern kitchen.

This dishwasher is very disappointing. I read reviews of dishwashers before shopping and then was swayed by the sleek, smoothly operating interior and the low noise level. LG seems to have a good reputation so I purchased LDTH797** (or LDPH797** --a top-level machine.
From the very first load, I found utensils that were not clean, particularly knives. Then baking dishes with dried-on remnants that should have been easily removed. Now the latest are a set of Southern Living clear plastic tumblers that have looked great for 6 years, but now have scratch marks and cloudy spots all over them. (This, I just noticed in the last couple of washes. Some are worse than others, but I know they all looked good before I bought this dishwasher.) The attached photo of the tumbler shows the bumpy surface of the tumbler with cloudy areas, some on bumps and some on dimples, but definitely on the exterior. The scratches around the bottom are inside! Since pools of water gathered on inverted mugs, I had tried using high heat to dry, so I switched to Low Dry Boost when these marks appeared.
It is frustrating to load the dishwasher. The top shallow rack is fairly useless since only the very lightly soiled will get clean. The upper rack for glassware does not have good spacing. Tumblers will fit and regualr coffee cups, but the narrow row that will hold juice glasses allows the glasses to fall over and hit each other. The middle row is so wide, only the widest items can safely be placed there.
The lower rack is even worse. There are basically 3 sections. Plates and dishes fit in the outer two, but the middle is a wider spacing so anything put there is just sitting upside-down catching all the water spray and taking up more room.
My previous dishwasher was a 13-yr-old Whirlpool; it cleaned very well and held everything steady and at an angle that allowed all to receive water spray. Unfortunately, Whirlpool did not get high ratings so I did not consider them again. I should have paid more attention to the rack design of the LG.
Photos: bits of food splashed onto knife, upper rack inefficient spacing, cereal not removed from bowl, residue on glass, lower rack poor spacing of tines, cloudy marks on outside of tumber and scratches around inside of tumbler. No idea how this could happen, but was not there before
Pros: very quiet, sleek exterior, racks slide smoothly
Cons: Food left on some items then dried on by high heat. Water pools on the bottom of inverted cups and mugs.
Hi, there. Thank you for sharing such detailed feedback with us. We understand your concern about your experience with the LG Dishwasher (LDPH7972S) model, which hasn't been ideal. We strive to provide high-quality products exceeding our customers' needs and expectations. Regarding the leftover food on utensils and dishes, one troubleshooting step we recommend is to check if the spray arms are properly rotating and if the nozzles are free from any blockages. Food debris can sometimes accumulate, affecting the water flow and cleaning efficiency. Also, load the dishwasher properly, ensuring enough space between items for the water to reach all surfaces—especially with thicker or larger items, which could hinder cleaning in certain spots. For more information, visit https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-dishwasher-not-cleaning--20151094745547. As for the cloudy marks and scratches on your tumblers, these could potentially be related to the drying cycle or detergent usage. If you're using a high-heat drying setting, it may cause more build-up on certain plastics. Switching to a lower-heat dry option is a great step. We also recommend using a rinse aid, which can help reduce spots and film buildup on glassware and plastic items. We’d love to work with you directly to troubleshoot and find a resolution. Please send us a private message on social media @LGUSSupport, and our team will be happy to assist with more personalized guidance. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we’re here to help ensure your dishwasher performs optimally. ^Juvy

Best dishwasher I’ve ever owned

I contemplated purchasing between the three models which after much research, I discovered were the same dishwasher with different decibel levels. I ended up purchasing the mid model, which is 42DB only because the higher priced top-of-the-line model was out of stock. But I’m glad it was because this dishwasher works perfectly and is quiet and there was no reason for me to pay the extra $800 For the.Signature model.

Replaced a 20 year old Jenn Air that probably cost twice as much. We almost went Bosch but the racks felt like dragging metal on concrete and we loved the ball bearing racks on the LG.
I've been using this dishwasher nightly for 2 weeks and am ready to review.
TL;Dr - It's fantastic! We use equate brand liquid dishwasher detergent and dry aid. So no frills. I run auto > steam > dry boost > night dry options.
Wash quality: Dishes come out spotless and most importantly, bone DRY. EVEN TUPPERWARE. This has never been possible before with our Jenn Air.
Bonus: The 3rd rack is useful for big knives, small lids, and some other utensils.
Size: This thing is huge!! But it sticks out less than 1/2 and inch from the counter. The metal prongs are extremely sturdy and easily folded to make room for other size dishes. I like the LG's more standardized layout vs the Bosch 800 which felt like pure chaos.
Finish: We love the non finger print stainless. For those concerned it looks JUST LIKE STAINLESS and not a cheap sticker. Matches our unbranded Samsung fridge and Jenn Air appliances 100%.
Lighting: We love the interior lights. It's a little extra touch.
Noise: Sound? What sound. This baby is so quiet I can't even hear it while standing in the same room.
Drying: The night dry option with the fan that blows moisture out of the interior throughout the night is GENIUS for people who aren't there to immediately put away clean dishes.
Summary:For the price I think this is the Bentley of dishwashers and I'm very happy with our purchase.
It's also easy to install yourself. You only need a new dishwasher water line. Everything else is in the box.
It is not everyday that we receive feedback as detailed and thoughtful as yours. But trust us when we say that it does not go unnoticed. Your comment has given valuable insight into the services that we provide at LG. We sincerely thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. All the best, ~ Tanisha

Absolute Garbage. Wife HATES this dishwasher. She's a hippie and loves everything but now, I have seen murder in her eyes. What good is a dishwasher with a rack on wheels come apart so easily. We've had three wheels come apart in total now. Cheap plastic wheels barely held together. Now we have the inside metal bearings all over. We were unable to locate all of them. We had less than a month when the first one came apart. Went to Best Buy and sorry.... it's been more than 15 days.... 5 weeks and a $1200 dishwasher starts to come apart. Nothing, Not a care in the world. I will absolutely not recommended any appliance purchases from BB to anyone at anytime.
In addition, for all the options, bells and whistles this thing advertises.... Does not dry well by any means. The dry boost, it is just another button to push. The cleaning is ok but we have had several loads where we are having to reclean and we're a family that nearly cleans the dishes before using the machine. Any wild dreams of just put the dish in and forget about it..... let your nightmare begin. All the fancy fold down risers for larger or flat items.... already had to put one of those back together... I'm telling you straight up. I read the reviews and I was fooled. Fooled by LG for a legit stand up product. Fooled by Best Buy and the Magnolia team for any concern or care for a near 30 year customer. The crazy thing is.... I love my LG fridge and my LG washer and dryer.... LG really let me down here and then Best Buy twisted the knife.
Hi there. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We understand how your situation can be, when your LG dishwasher (LDPH7972S) is not meeting expectations. This LG dishwasher is super quiet. It is so quiet that I can't hear it running. My old dishwasher was very loud. The third party contractors who delivered and installed the dishwasher did a great job. The old whirlpool dishwasher was removed and the new one installed in 19 minutes flat. The new dishwasher leaves my dishes clean and dry. I especially like the feature that dries the dishes overnight by periodically turning on the fan to remove moisture from the dishwashing tub.

This machine is great in terms of look and functionality. I love the light inside. However the touchscreen where the controls are is made of plastic and cracked right by the start button. they said this is a known issue but lg stopped giving out the part number so it is trickier to fix.
