Great picture but missing other features.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tv is light weight and has a great picture. The only faults i see are that it only has 2 HDMIs and it has no audio outputs for my surround system. It would be great for a bedroom though.

Excellent picture BUT...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.By default this TV has a digital computerized female voice telling you EVERY single button you press on the remote. IE.."TV On..", "Volume Up..", "Channel 02", "TV Mute". I promise you "TV driving you INSANE". However, after much research this can be turned off but difficult to find. Open settings and toggle down to Accesibility..(who'd a thunk, right?) find sub-menu Audio Guidance and turn off Announcement. sigh

Didn't buy yet, but...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV has the best display compared to other 43" models in-store. Before going to the store I looked up all specs online, specifically the inputs and outputs, because I want flexibility in moving this TV to different rooms having different sound system setups. It does not have any analog audio outputs (neither RCA or headphone). I never use the built-in speakers on any TV! The store representative swore up and down this TV has RCA audio outputs, while pointing to the jacks on the back. I said they are inputs, not outputs. We had a big argument about this. You can clearly see by the pictures on here, the jacks are labeled as inputs! Otherwise, I want this TV!

The sound is terrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I was making my purchase I asked the sales person about sound quality because that is important to me. He said all the sets had poor sound quality and would require a sound bar. I foolishly decided to go ahead and see if I would need a sound bar later. Now, I'm stuck with having difficulty understanding anything and learning that I can't install a sound bar. It does have a good picture and I use closed captioning where possible, but I would much rather be able to understand.

Nice TV with Lousy Sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I should have read the reviews before buying this TV online. It is a very nice TV, but the sound stinks. It sounded "tinny" like a little transistor radio, (remember those?). There is no outlet on this TV for a soundbar. I returned and exchanged/upgraded to an LG Smart TV without any problems from Best Buy. They went out of their way to be helpful once I was able to find an available sales person on the floor. In this instance it's true, you get what you pay for.

Worst sound ever.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just bought this, set it all up, and WOW great picture. It has that awesome 1080HD resolution a TV from 2017 can provide, too bad the sound is still stuck in 1990. It’s bad. Really bad. It sounds like a mono-speaker from a sing-a-long toothbrush. And wait, it gets worse: there’s one HDMI port and one HDMI Ethernet port. So good luck getting HD cable and a FireStick on this tv without an HDMI splitter for multiple ports. I’m beyond disappointed and I should have read the negative reviews first, so do yourself a favor and let this review save you a HUGE hassle.

Bad speakers, & no way to add soundbar
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Regarding the LG 43LJ500M I just bought, it never occurred to me that the component, RCA, and HDMI jacks were only for inputs, not outputs! HDMI especially is known as a jacks/cable system for moving video and/or audio in either direction. But before buying, I didn't really think I would want, need, or buy a sound bar. My previous TV was a 39 inch Samsung LCD (or LED) which also had down-facing speakers on the bottom. The sound wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible. That TV was made 47 months before this new LG. I expect electronic items to get better as the years pass, not worse. The speakers on this LG TV produce a sound that is noticeably "tinnier" than the sound from my four year old TV! That's even after I got a little more midrange (I won't call it "bass") by changing the sound mode from Standard to the best-sounding (least horrible) of the four modes, which was Music. I guess I'll have to get used to the poor sound. I was also disappointed to see the sticker on the back that states that the TV was made in China. For some silly reason, I thought that LG, a Korean company, would make their electronics in, well, Korea. Also, the menu system on the TV and the remote is a disaster. Too many issues to mention. And every time I turn this TV on, I have to look at a large LG logo. Samsung didn't have their company name show up every (or any) time I turned that TV on. The picture is good, after a half hour of making adjustments to the various settings. But I expect decent sound – not sound that's worse that what a much older product had. DO NOT BUY THIS TV!!!!

Sound quality extremely bad, soundbar incompatible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don’t buy this TV! I bought one in mid-July, did a quick operating check, left town for several weeks. Now, continued use reveals sound quality is abysmal ! Miniscule speakers are overdriven at even low volume levels, and dialog is unintelligible at higher levels. Then discovered this TV can’t support adding a soundbar or other external speakers! Call to LG customer service: “sorry about that”! Best Buy, I thought you were better at product selection than this.

Not bad for a non-smart tv, lacks sound options
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pretty good tv. Worked well for 6 years till we decided we wanted a soundbar. The built-in sound on it is not great and there’s no optical cable or other sound-out option. Worked well with our Roku streaming stick.

The good, the bad, and the ridiculous
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV for my elderly father and was quite pleased with the price, the picture, and Best Buy's customer service. But after watching it for a few weeks, Dad was complaining about the sound quality. I told him "No problem, we'll just add a soundbar to the setup". WRONG -- this set has no output jack of any kind to connect an external speaker. So we're stuck with a television that looks great, but sounds like an old transistor radio. I feel kind of dumb for buying this LG without noticing such a major technical limitation, but who in 2018 builds a TV with no audio output capability?

Posted .We apologize, the 43LJ500M does not have an optical output for connecting external speakers. We apologize this unit did not meet your expectations. The sound menu provides many adjustment options for TV audio. You can find information about these options here: http://www.lg.com/us/support/product-help/CT10000018-1391010934421-menu-settings ^CP

Total Garbage - Sound Is Horrible - No Aux Out
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You read the title right. The sound on this TV is the most abysmal you will ever hear which wouldn't be so bad until you find out you can't add an auxiliary sound bar. That's right. No 3.5mm jack, no Bluetooth, no nothing. You're stuck with a lousy sounding TV that you literally will not be able to enjoy. I didn't find this out until after Irma came through and had too much to deal with before and during the storm so I couldn't bring it back in the two week window and I assumed, incorrectly that it would definitely have SOME way to hook up an external speaker. Who would a make a TV that doesn't have some type of aux out for sound, right? Wrong. LG would. 250 bucks down the tubes. Don't YOU make the same mistake.

Sound is pathetic AND no sound bar connection
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The "sound" is TERRIBLE as I have to turn volume setting to 50+ to hear the audio. Tried calling LG tech support offered no help. Months later ... decide to connect an LG sound bar to tv in order to solve sound issue and there is no optical plug!?! Cmon LG! Next tv purchase - I will consider other tv brands.

Nice TV if you don't connect aux equipment.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great price and a good picture resolution. TV does not have HDMI output, which restricts connecting sound bar or any external device requiring output. Not good!

LG 43-inch TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picture ok, sound terrible. I would not recommend this tv, unless you do not care about sound. Plus, it has ZERO external ports for a soundbar or a 600 watt system that this tv was going to replace. Taking it back in the morning.

Garbage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV is garbage. I’ll never buy an LG again. Every time I turn on the TV it defaults to a static screen. Operating system is terrible and heard you selling you more LG equipment and services.
