EXCELLENT 4K TV for under $900

120Hz, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, and eArc for under $900. If you're not a videophile or don't care about the latest tech like QLED, nanocell, micro LED, or OLED, this is a great option at an affordable price. The UN8500 would be fairly priced if it was $1000, honestly. The UN8500 runs on LG's famed WebOS and comes equipped with the magic remote that's used with their high-end OLEDs. The home menu is more condensed and much more streamlined for fast navigation, especially when using the remote's built-in microphone or laser pointer. I was concerned about the black levels before purchasing because it uses a direct lit backlighting system, but the blacks are excellent and find a nice balance between getting dark and maintaining details. I exchanged a faulty 65" Hisense H8G for this and couldn't be happier. The LG is better in just about every way. If I didn't already have the C8 OLED as my primary TV, I'd be very happy to have this UN8500 as my entertainment centerpiece. It has an excellent picture and is about the best you can get as a "base" 4K LCD before paying more for newer tech (QLED, nanocell, micro LED, and OLED). If you want a great looking 4K TV without spending more than $850, I HIGHLY recommend the LG UN8500.

Yes this DOES have HDMI 2.1

Let me get the biggest question out of the way first. YES HDMI 2.1 is on this TV. The two HDMI ports on the back say 4k at 120hz. I can currently get 4k 60 or 1440p 120 with auto low latency with a standard HDMI cable on my Xbox One X. And the high speed HDMI 2.1 cables that are included with the PS5 and Xbox Series X should bump that up to 4k at 120. But it should be noted. LG is making HDMI 2.1 confusing. They are being vague about about what Tvs support what features. Apparently a late November firmware update will make sure all LG HDMI 2.1 Tvs can handle all 2.1 features. Overall this TV is probably the best value on the market. $699 for HDMI 2.1, HDR10, Dolby Vision, 120hz, and an easy to use OS. I love this tv. If you are lucky enough to see this on sale for $699 absolutely get it.

Seriously. They dropped it down to $699, gave me a $5 'coopin', and I bought the next to last one at my local store. Got it home and hooked it to Cypress Kill, which is my new Asus Tuf Gaming X570 motherboard with a Ryzen 3900X CPU and an Asus 5700XT GPU with 2133-4000 mhz Patriot Viper Ram PC mounted below this gorgeous piece of television by LG. I was able to buy exactly one EVGA 1000 G+ PSU from Best Buy, and only Best Buy for the 3 systems I was building in my house in preparation for home schooling and such. I'm still tinkering with the graphics. It hiccups a little with maximum graphics settings in some games, but in ones set up to run DirectX 12, it looks finer than frog hair. It is absolutely amazing how I got this much performance for this price. Direct backlighting and 120 Hz. Forty-seven frigging pounds. Need I say more? The $4500 plasma I bought from Best Buy around a decade ago lasted a little over 3 years, then fried it's mainboard. Got it being repaired, and decided I wanted something lighter up that high on the wall, and could use the plasma, which is basically what OLED is comparing itself to, out on the porch. Anyway, this LG is comparable to that plasma. PS: The one pic I posted is of a 49" LG over said PC. I used it on another build after this 65" came down in price a little, so very similar pic, as the other is a 4k nano, but proper size to fit in space above wall. Have not taken any pics yet of the 65" but will try and post some when I do.

This tv is great for the price. The screen quality is amazing. The colors are rich and vibrant. The sound is good without a sound bar. The magic remote is is a nice touch. It took less then 15mins to open the box to setting the tv up to watching tv. To me it’s the best tv for the price.

We love, love the tv. The geek squad was beyond our wildest dreams. They carried in that 65 inch tv like it weighted 2 pounds, Opened it up and went to work. Didn’t take but a few Minutes and set up new DVD player we also bought, explained everything, put box in backyard where we requested and were On their way. Folks, invest the extra money and have Geek Squard Do everything.

Great tv. NOT 120hz though like it say's. Even the back ofnthe tv itself say's 50/60hz. I bought this tv specifically for that reason to game on... other then that this tv is pretty amazing.

Bought this tv because I needed a new one for my room and I wanted the best picture and built in audio for the price and size. All other options either cost too much for the size or were bigger, but the picture quality was poor. This tv fits perfectly within those requirements. It comes with built in Dolby atmos, Dolby vision, earc hdmi, 120 hertz, and a ips panel that’s looks great from all viewing angles. For this tv at $900 for 65 inches and all that I mentioned was a steal. Movies and Games look amazing and the ui is fast and easy to use. Only complaint is that I wish the tv supported hdmi 2.1, because the ps5 will support this new input for its games, but other than that I have no other problems. I would recommend this tv for people looking for a great living room tv.

I got this TV for $800, and I think it is well worth the price. It is packed with plenty of nice features like 4k 65" screen with 120 Hz refresh rate, Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision, and HDR 10. The only downside is that it uses an IPS panel, which while it provides a wide viewing angle, it does not have as good picture quality or contrast as a VA panel.

The picture is great and wonderful, the TV quality is good. It’s an easy set-up even for a wall mount. Watching a movie is great and sharp details with the native 120Hz. This TV is a good deal for its price.

This tv is a STEAL!!!! I got it for $800. It has Dolby Vision and HDR. All of your newer movies in its best format will almost always be in Dolby Vision. If you look at any movie on iTunes that are new release it says Dolby Vision. Samsung has HDR +. But, most movie studios use Dolby Vision. And this is the only tv I saw under $1,000 that wasn’t Vizio or TLC. It has pretty much every app. Apple TV, Disney +, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, etc... Great user interface as well. The remote has a digital pointer which helps out when clicking on stuff. It has 2 HDMI inputs at 60 HZ and 2 HDMI imputes at 120 HZ. The picture is AMAZING!!!!!! Definitely worth the money.

Overall a solid product from LG. Picture quality is great, OS is easy to use and I like the wand pointer system to navigate around. Plenty of built in apps, enough HDMI ports for your cable, games system, ect. Stock speakers were better than I expected. Would recommend to anyone who doesn't feel the need for OLED.

Very happy with this TV. Did much research and decided to go with this TV. Looked at many 120Hz TV and this is excellent for the price. Like that it has many features similar to a computer. Has ready to use free TV channels. Nice added bonus. Picture quality is superb and sound is great too. I did pick up a sound bar and wireless subwoofer combo. Very nice addition for sports and movies. I would recommend this TV.

The picture is incredible; it makes me feel as if I'm in the same room as the people on the TV. I have the unit wall-mounted, and it is beautiful from 15 feet away. I researched nextgen tech such as organic light-emitting diode (OLED), but this TV looks almost as good as those and runs about $500 cheaper. The sound is great, but we added LG sound bar for even better boost. TV connects to all of your channels with built-in LG WebOS computer/wireless, so no need for HDMI cables. The only slight drawback is that it always powers on to blank screen, instead of returning to your last opened app (e.g., YouTube TV). That is a dumb UI bug that LG will hopefully address in a future software release. Great TV overall!

4K with HDR & 120Hz refresh rate at this price point is fantastic. The picture is great and the sound is pretty decent as well. The remote and smart functions of this TV are light years ahead of other smart TVs out there.

I got this TV a week and a half ago sight unseen with all of the store closings/restrictions. When I got it home and plugged in, I immediately noticed the screen quality and amazing throughout the setup. It works with google and alexa as advertised and even detects up other LG products you have in your home. Why anyone needs that? I don't know but it's amazing nonetheless because it told me that I needed to change my refrigerator filter. Watching things on Netflix and Hulu is a game changer as the quality of the shows is completely different with the 120 Hz refresh rate. Shows like Law and Order look like they were filmed with today's technology. For a mid range TV, LG produced a quality product.
