After many months with no internal drive on our new desktop Mac, we purchased and installed the LG 8x. Easy setup, very clean, compact design and works as advertised. Hard to believe you can do all that for the price.

Works smooth and loads quickly. Small and easy for use when traveling. Just connect and run any program or burn any type of DVD or CD disc. Great for the price.

I recently bought a macbook air and needed a dvd r/w external drive. This is very light and compact which makes it easy to bring along. It's all internal, so no tray that can break. Super easy to set up and use.

I love the LG Super Multi Blade Drive! I decided to purchase this drive instead of the Apple Super Drive. It was about $25 cheaper, compatible with my MacBook Air! It was easy to install and it loads DVD and CDs very fast!

I've been looking at purchasing an external CD drive since my laptop does not include the internal version. I was happy that the item went on sale with an additional $5 off during a special four day promotion. I think I received a good value and the drive has worked well so far.

This drive was bought mostly as a replacement for (another) failed internal SuperDrive in my iMac, but also for a couple of MacBook Airs that lack optical drives. I knew that I'd have to do a workaround to get the SuperDrive to work with the iMac, because the standalone SuperDrive is designed only for Macs without an internal optical drive. As the summary states, this LG worked right-out-of-the-box. On my iMac it has to be plugged directly into the computer, not a hub — even a powered hub. First DVD burn went perfectly and played back perfectly on a BD player. I don't know about how durable it is (check other reviews), but the build quality seems on par with a genuine SuperDrive. Plus, I saved $15 over the SuperDrive on-sale. All-in-all I saved money and didn't have to do any workaround or file patching for it to work on my iMac, two big pluses.

This is an excellent unit that is dimensionally compact and very thin. It pulls the DVD's in and ejects them rather than having a flimsy tray that a DVD has to snap on to. Reading and writing speeds are excellent

My recently issued corporate notebook computer does not have an internal DVD drive so I had to buy this external drive to burn data backups to DVD. I've used it with my corporate notebook PC my wife's MacBook Pro as well. Plug and play is non eventful with PC or Mac. Just plug it in and you've got a drive. Couldn't be any easier. I've had no issues whatsoever with the drive. It works. It's fast. I only gave 4 stars because it makes a little more noise than some of the competing external drives, but this one is a lot cheaper too. For a value minded purchase, I'd recommend this drive.

I initially hesitated to purchase this device due to my reliance on iOS. However, I was pleasantly surprised as the CD-ROM seamlessly connected to my computer, dispelling my concerns. If I could, I would grant it an even higher rating if it were possible. I wholeheartedly urge everyone to invest in this exceptional item.

Sleek little addition to my new desktop. Takes up no space yet gives me a lot of the stuff I need. I am happy to have it to edit photos, play videos, and do my taxes!!!!!

Slim, lightweight and ultra-performing. I always rely on LG products, and this one did not disappoint. This is the 4th one I've purchased for home at co-employees at work.

I found this external drive very easy to use. It worked well with our Apple laptop (purchased without a CD drive). It looks solid and not cheap.I use it to watch movies and it was so handy when we needed to load the driver for a friend's wireless printer.
