Terrible support, great fridge till breaks!

Purchased the 30 Cu ft top of the line 4 door LG fridge from BBY about 2 years ago. For the first two years the more we used the fridge the more we LOVED it! The “drink drawer” is WAY cooler than we thought it would be getting drinks to the perfectly cold temperature and the quick access door is awesome for milk & OJ. We have 5 kids and this fridge holds plenty and with the water & ice dispenser on front was excellent. Only problems we had had for first 2 years were replacing filters, ice maker got jammed once or twice, & every now and then I’d remove a small amount of ice build up near the inside of the door on the ice maker side where cold air travel from main fridge to the ice maker. None of these were “issues” and if you would have asked me 3 weeks ago I would have said it is the BEST fridge! Then out of nowhere it just stopped working. For me a fridge that is only 2 years old is still “new!” In fact it was only 2 months ago that we removed the “protective” wrapping the fridge shipped in and we have kept it in excellent condition. When I say the fridge stopped working all of the light turn on, the water technically works, but the fridge stopped cooling (in any of the four doors). I appreciate things can stop working, but have to say I was very disappointed only two years into a ~$4K fridge (adding taxes). When I got the fridge I was told how great LG warranty was so I called LG. Was on hold for a while and then here is what happened over the next 2 weeks (Days are counted in business days & don’t include weekends): Day 0 – Fridge stopped working – Called LG customer support: Very hard to understand support agent, but she was patient with me so I was patient with her. Gave me service request & told me LG would take care of the service (parts & labor) at no charge! Off to a good start! Gave me a telephone number of “service agent” and told me they’d get in touch with me within 24 hours to schedule service. Day 2 – No phone call from service agent  (I waited over 24 hours) Day 3 – Called service agent. They had no idea who I was and at first couldn’t find the request from LG. After much back and forth (and providing the LG provide service request # multiple times) they finally found the request and told me that I lived outside of their service area & told me they rejected the service request from LG. They asked me to contact LG. Thought, that’s unfortunate, but maybe not LG’s fault. So I called LG, they told me the service center had “accepted” the request and that they’d follow back up with them. I told them 5 times that I had JUST gotten off the phone with them and that there was NO WAY they were coming to my house. I even asked if we could 3-way call them, but LG wanted to call them separately. I asked if I could call them back in 2 hours, but they said they need 24 hours and they promised they’d call me within 24 hours. Day 4 – No phone call from LG. Day 5 - After waiting over 24 hours I phoned them. They told me that “yes” that service center would not be able to support the service request, they “escalated” the service request to manager & told me they were working to locate another service center. They said they had located one, but it would take 5 business days for them to get back to me. I complained that they should have listened to me the first time, was a little frustrated, but they committed they had escalated this. Support agent apologized profusely that the “previous agent” hadn’t called me & that he would do a better job. Day 8 – So I didn’t wait the 5 business days, but thought I’d call in to make sure everything was progressing. Good thing I did. Remember this is the 4th time I’ve had to phone LG! After giving details to support agent he looked up the request and told me that the 2nd service agent had also rejected the service request! You need to remember it is 8 business days, but with weekends it is basically 2 weeks without a fridge. I have 5 kids and have to eat microwaveable, or things that don’t need refrigerated OR eat out. Much more expensive, let alone less healthy. I tried to be polite & explained all of these points to support. I also explained that days keep going by because LG isn’t effectively managing the requests to service agents. I even asked if I could have a list & I’d call them myself till I find one OR if I could help them locate one closer to my home, but that was against policy. When support realized I was getting pretty frustrated he put me on hold, returned & told me they were escalating this to a “fridge specialist” (I have no idea who they were making service request to the first two times). They promise that this will work and that they will be able to come to my home and help me. BUT the soonest they will respond is 5 business days! I ask if that means they’ll come to my home within 5 business days OR if 5 business days to call and schedule. Of course it is the later meaning it will likely be 18+ business days before they come and fix my 2 YEAR OLD FRIDGE that cost me over $4k with taxes. I expressed how frustrating that was and was told “we are doing our best,” and “I’m sorry others didn’t handle effectively, but it was other support personal and now I will make sure to solve.” We’ll see if the last point holds true, but seems like they are trained to say this as two different support personal have said it & honestly more frustrating than helpful and it makes me feel I need to call the “right” person in support to get help. If that is the best LG can do, then it isn’t worthy of such an expensive product. Will update once I hear more, but IMO even such a GREAT product as this fridge should last more than 2 years and if it is going to completely break, LG MUST have better customer service. Based on that “reliability” & “service” giving 1 star. Would have been 4+ stars if fridge was either more reliable OR better service. As is I would definitely not buy from LG again and would not recommend. Will update if LG is able to adequately rectify situation.

The L in LG is for LEMON!

After just having bought my first home, I really wanted to splurge and buy a nice big beautiful stainless steel refrigerator as a center piece. But buying this expensive LG was one of the biggest mistakes of my life. At just 2 years the thing is broken and will no longer cool. I came home one night to find that all of the the ice in the ice maker had melted and puddled onto my hardwood flooring and all of my food was spoiled. Completely dismayed that my refrigerator is now cooling at 60F I called LG. They sent a tech out and he diagnosed a failed sealed system. To have a failed sealed system in 2 years is truly, truly remarkable. But you then think to yourself, well that's ok though, sealed system is under warranty right? NOPE! The parts might be covered by warranty, but the LABOR is not. And apparently sealed system is a specialty repair service and I was quoted at $850-$1100 on the low end JUST OF LABOR. And then you think to yourself, well Jesus, that's unbelievably expensive, so you call LG and ask them why they are selling $3400 refrigerators that don't even last 2 years? What kind of product quality are they really putting out? And they don't back up their own products? We work hard for that kind of money and consumers deserve quality assurance for their purchase. Agent very reluctantly escalated my case and I was eventually granted an exception to cover labor under warranty as well, but now here's the most interesting part.. I called their authorized service provider to come back out and fix it, now with a warranty exception code but they flat out REFUSED to come back to work on the thing because apparently LG has stiffed them multiple times on warranty repairs. So LG is not only stiffing their costumers with cheap and faulty appliances but they are also stiffing their own authorized service providers on warranty reimbursement to repair their cheap and faulty appliances. But you could figure that would happen if so many of them break right? It's not good business for LG to repair everything they build. So at this point, it has been 1 month since I've had a working refrigerator. There are literally only two service providers in my area that can fix sealed systems and are authorized to work on LG (a huge amount of service providers don't even want to work on LG, so let that be the giant red flag for you.) But of these two service providers, both of them refuse to do any warranty work for LG whatsoever. I guess I wouldn't want to either, if I wasn't getting paid for my work. I have been in contact with LG daily about this, asking to give me a real solution, but they just keep giving me lip service and lists of more and more service providers, all of which are completely out of the state and can't even come here because they are not licensed outside of their own state. I've gone through 20+ service providers that LG has given me and it's the same story over and over.. "we don't service your area, we aren't licensed in your state" etc etc. I tried explaining this to LG repeatedly but they either don't listen or don't care. The last agent I talked to just bluntly told me I'm SOL. So ask yourself this, what good is a warranty if their own company won't back it up? What good is a warranty if no service provider will accept it because LG is scheming them out of their money too? At this point I can either pay $1200+ for parts and labor out of my own pocket or I can just take this thing out to the backyard and blow it up and buy a different brand. And really, in full and total honesty, I'm much more inclined to do the latter. Because I will never trust my food in this thing ever again, even after it was fixed. I will never trust LG again. I'm now just far too ashamed to even have the LG symbol in my household now that I know the truth of this company. Yeah, you're sitting there reading all these reviews because this is a big purchase for you, just like it was for me. And you're thinking to yourself, this poor guy, he just got unlucky that HIS broke so early, but mine won't be like that and even if mine does have a problem, I have this great LG warranty right? You don't. LG is proven to have cheap and faulty products and they have proven that their warranty is completely meaningless. You're better off buying 30 mini refrigerators for the same price and then just replacing them as they break throughout the years... but the truly sad part is.. you won't need that many because one cheap $100 mini fridge will still last significantly longer than any giant shiny piece of junk you buy from LG. Don't say I didn't warn you.

The fridge has it ALL! My review will be lengthy as I want to hit on all the great features. We moved into our home six years ago and at the time borrowed my dad's extra garage fridge to get us by. You know your standard 18-20 cubic foot fridge nothing special. We finally decided to bite the bullet this year because with a growing 9 year old boy at home our fridge just couldn't hold enough food to get us through a week of grocery shopping. We lead a busy life and having to go the store every two to three days was just getting to be too much. This fridge is big and a tight fit in our fairly small kitchen (we had to shave off the overhang on the counter top to make it fit and you might be able to get a sheet of paper between the fridge and the cabinet). But we made sure and measured a bunch of times to make sure that it would fit before we purchased. I also read hundreds of reviews on every forum I could find (Best Buy, Amazon, Consumer Reports, ect.) because come on $4,000 for a fridge is a big investment. This had the best reviews on the market compared to the Samsung four door one that I was sure I really wanted, but it had received horrible reviews most people having it go out within six months of purchase and I can't afford to have my fridge go out that soon after purchased and wait a month for a replacement or repair. Installation was easy and the delivery guys were GREAT, very knowledgeable showed my husband all the cool little features and gave pointers-like that the handles on the freezer drawer and chilling drawer are meant to be loose (they move up and down) as they have two clips that break the seal so that you don't have to yank super hard to open those drawers as the seal is very tight which is good thing. We had noticed were loose at the store, but assumed it was because of it being a display model. Once it had cooled which only took a couple of hours we moved over everything from our previously packed to the brim fridge and I was amazed! We still had over half of the upper fridge section empty, the cooler draw had nothing in it and what had been in the freezer fit in half of one side of the freezer drawer. I went grocery shopping the next day and bought everything we would need to get us through an entire week and then some since I was getting ready to host a Christmas party. I still had a quarter of the fridge empty! I was able to make all my holiday candy this year and not be creative letting chocolates cool outside on my patio or having to clean out my whole fridge just to do that one thing. I love the door in door section it's great for my son to be able to just grab a cold drink without opening the whole fridge. The tiny easy access drawers I thought would never get used are perfect for his string cheeses and apple sauce pouches. I use the cooling drawer for mainly holding drinks you could probably fit 3-4 cases of pop easily, but it's also great for holding party platters especially with the sliding adjustable dividers. We have a water filtration system for our whole house and with the added filtration the water tastes amazing and I love finally having a huge supply of ice my husband likes his drinks really cold. The cubes are about half the size of your normal refillable trays so they are easy to get into water bottles for your workouts. The crushed ice is very fine which would be a drawback if the cubes weren't such a great size. It is super easy to switch between the two as well. I also like the fresh air filter for the fridge. You can activate it and it removes smells easily so as not to make everything smell or taste funny without having to go buy baking soda for the fridge and wait three days or so and hope that the smell actually leaves. The freezer section is great as well. I wanted more fridge than freezer as we have a great 22 cubic foot deep freezer already. I love that the upper sliding drawer is removable if need be and the thin drawer is a great place for ice compresses, bacon and other thin items that are otherwise usually lost in your freezer. LG literally thought of everything on this fridge. If you purchase this fridge you will not be disappointed. Only one drawback (and not big enough to diminish how great this fridge is) for those that don't know as I didn't this is a truly stainless steel fridge therefore your magnets will not stick to the front of this fridge. They will stick on the side, but if you use your fridge like a command center like we did you will have to either buy stainless steel specific magnets or find another alternative. In all this fridge is GREAT!

I'm sure the other reviewers received a working product. I did too, for the first few days. However, I had to have a service guy come out within the first week the fridge was delivered because the CustomChill door temperature selector buttons stopped working and the freezer drawer light doesn't work. The issue appears to be with the electronics or wiring. The technician has been out 3 times, and the problem still isn't fixed. To note, it's been a month and a half since the first visit. He has to contact LG directly while here because they haven't released the specs to technicians. After 2 part swaps, the issue remains. He said I should be getting a call from LG soon. I hope it's to replace the fridge. We bought the fridge to replace a 14 year old 26cu ft KitchenAid side-by-side because we wanted something more energy efficient. I was hesitant because the new models (from any manufacturer) have a lot of plastic pieces and metal-on-plastic pieces. This means those parts will wear out quicker and you (the consumer) will have to pay to fix them or buy a new fridge. Since it was on all similar models, we decided to go with LG because of overall reviews. The compressor probably will last since it's mechanical and LG puts a long warranty on it. We were a little disappointed with all the plastic because of the high price. The door-in-door is nice, but you have to really push on it to get it to stay closed instead of just swinging it closed. As annoying as it is, keep the door alarm activated. This has saved us from leaving the door-in-door open because it didn't close. Plan on two hand use for the ice and water dispensers. The water dispenser symbol will inevitably get scratched off soon because it's only painted on instead of etched in. The paint on ours already has some chips on it - again, cost savings for LG. The ice machine is small, and cubes have a tendency to build up in front of the sensor. This causes the machine to stop making ice because it senses the bucket is full, but it is not. This happens 2-3 times a week and always on the side closest to the door hinges. I recommend checking it often and knocking the ice down. The ice machine makes the left door stick out farther, so be sure to have plenty of room to open it fully. Otherwise, you can't reach in to grab items in the back of the fridge. Inside the fridge, there's plenty of room, and the space is configurable. The shelves are sturdy and can handle heavy items without flexing. The fridge compartment is also deep. My wife is 5'3" and can't reach to the back of the top shelves. I can't comment on the CustomChill drawer because we can't change the temperature, and we have no idea what the temperature is because the lights don't work. The sliding dividers are a nice option though to keep meats and other products separated. The freezer has 2 other drawers in there. However, this results in only a 10-inch clearance in the main compartment. I can't stand bottles up because of this. We spend a lot more time digging around for things too because the main compartment is deep and extend underneath the other drawers. Also, there is nothing filtering out the moisture in the air. Everything has ice crystals on the outside. The enormous size of the fridge presented problems when the delivery guys were trying to get it into my house. They had to pull out the drawers and take off the front door handles. Then, they had to open the doors and pivot the fridge through 34" wide doorway openings. Something to remember if you ever plan on getting it OUT of your house. Overall, we still have mix feelings about the fridge since we haven't noticed any decrease in this month's electric bill. The broken CustomChill drawer also colors our opinion of the fridge. Couple that with the liberal use of plastic-on-plastic and plastic-on-metal parts, and it's only a matter of time before new parts are needed (or a new fridge). The cost of the fridge is too much for this fact. However, I do want to reiterate again, that all the other fridges from other manufacturers did the exact same thing. Hopefully, this review provides some insight for those searching for a new fridge. If you want this one, then buy it on sale.

I purchased this as part of an LG suite of kitchen appliances. The Black Stainless finish is as beautiful installed as it was on display in the showroom. I'd never had a french door fridge before, so it took a little getting used to on how to situate everything inside. After some trial and error, I think there is plenty of space. Shelves are easily adjustable as well and everything is brightly illuminated with LED lighting. Further, I really like the door-in-door feature. I wondered if it was gimicky and if I would really use it but I am honestly using it all the time. Beverages are the logical choice to put within the door-in-door, as are condiments. The small shelves on the door of the left side of the fridge are, however, a bit narrow so as of yet, I haven't had much to place in them. The middle drawer has several temperature settings depending on what you place in there. Right now I'm using it for drinks, i.e. cans of soda and bottles of wine. There is a lot of space in this drawer, much more than I expected. I placed a 24 pack of soda in there easily, as well as couple bottles of wine and I still have room to spare. There is also a divider to help you separate items. This drawer is also lit with LED lights. The bottom freezer is huge with two slide our drawers. I would be hard pressed to completely fill it up. As with the rest of the fridge, this space is lit with LEDs. The icemaker is part of the door on the left side of the fridge. It fits in to a narrow space so if you consume a lot of ice, prepare to make trays manually in the freezer or buy a bag from time to time. I don't use ice too often so it's fine for me. When the fridge is first installed, the owner's manual does indicate that it may take at least 24 hours before the proper temperature is reached and ice starts getting produced. This is totally accurate, so don't freak out if after several hours of the fridge being plugged in, you still don't have ice. The ice/water dispenser and control panel are on the front of the left door. Everything looks nice but if you're shopping around, here are a couple of features that the LG model lacks. There is no space to rest a glass/cup/dish that you are filling with water. You have to hold it up against the fridge and depress the water dispenser lever. The same holds true for ice, and you have to hold the glass very close to the ice dispenser, or else ice pops out the side and goes all over the kitchen floor. There is also no auto-fill feature for the water. Several other manufacturers including GE, Whirlpool, and Kitchenaid have a clever feature that allows you to pre-select exactly how much water you want in cups or liters, then place the glass under the dispenser and it will autmatically fill with the exact amount you selected. Not so LG. The display panel will not tell you the actual temperature of the fridge or freezer, just the temperature that you have set. The dispenser light has two settings, on or off. There is no night light setting. Aside from those few shortfalls, this is otherwise a great machine. The fridge keeps everything very cold, the middle drawer is a great feature that is unexpectedly spacious, and the freezer drawer is huge and keeps items frozen solid.

My review is primary based on what has happened since the purchase so here we go .... #1) Spent $4,000 on 4 LG appliances and set up a June 4th delivery date. I though it was great because I wouldn't have to take anytime off work. #2) Kept getting automated voice mails that week about rescheduling my appointment even though all my appliances showed they would be delivered that day. #3) Two days before the delivery, I finally call the store to find out what is going on. They said they would get back to me. End of day, still haven't call so I stopped in the store to find out what is going on. They still don't know where the microwave is but it won't be installed on Saturday. I said fine. The other 3 will be installed. They said yes. And we figure a time to get the last one installed the next week #4) Get home on Friday, another automated call about calling in to change your appointment. I call the store to see what was going on. They have no idea either. They claim the product is here in the store. #5) Saturday arrives. Fridge and Oven only show up. I asked about the Dishwasher and they have no idea. I go to the store once they are done and ask what is going on. They don't know but they amended the repair on the 8th to include the 8th. #6) Sunday morning. We had been running water through the ice and water lines all day Saturday to get the junk out of the line and the first thing I see on Sunday is about the same amount of water on my wood floors as we had been running through the machine the previous day. Thus, back to the store for the 4th time in 5 days to find out what I need to do to get that resolved. #7) Sunday night called Geek Squad to get a repair set up for my fridge even though they say 24/7 they couldn't set up an appointment because I called close to 11pm. They did give me the number to file a claim on the damaged floor. #8) Called Geek Squad back to set up a time to come fix the fridge. Gave them my WORK NUMBER to call me at so I knew when I needed to be home. Key words ... WORK NUMBER. #9) Called the claims line to get some set up regarding the floor damage. #10) Call the store again on Tuesday to find out if both appliances would be delivered on Wednesday. Got a half hearted yes. Almost like maybe, maybe not we don't know. But is does say yes on the paper. It was after 6pm and I had no confirmation phone call about the time as my time was 8-5. I told them I need to know so I can let my work know if they are going to be here at 8am or 4 pm. The person at Best Buy must think we all time to sit around waiting appliances to be installed. I reminder her they all should have been installed on 6/4. Also explained to the person that my floors were damage because of a defect in the water line. Didn't want to hear any apologies and basically ended the conversation. #11) Best Buy actually called me. Must have been a manager. Could not 100% guarantee that the Microwave and Dishwasher would be installed. Reminded him they have messed up everything up to this point. Told him as well if they aren't installed tomorrow they can come pick up the other two. Didn't even phase him. Said I will note that in the records. #12) Installer called me around 8pm. Said he would be at my house between 10-2. I asked him if he is installing both microwave and dishwasher. He said yes. I said if you don't have both don't even bother showing up as Best Buy will be coming to pick up what they installed the previous Saturday. #13) Installer showed up a little after 10:30am and finished a bit before 2pm. Did a great job. Would hire him again. #14) Sunday Night the display on the Microwave is completely bright and you cannot read anything. 4 days and now I need a second tech to come out and fix another appliance. #15) Monday call the Geek Squad people to set up a repair. Told them I am basically unavailable the next 2.5 weeks until after 6pm. They say we will note this and call you. See later .... #16) Today .... The tech that was supposed to call me at WORK calls my home and leaves a voice mail about the repair that he will be at my house a round 4pm. Problem is I work to 4:15 and needed to be called at WORK so I could bug out a bit early. I miss the guy by less than 10 minutes and they tell me he can't come back to my house tonight. I told them you guys messed this up not me. I left specific instructions for him to call me at WORK not HOME. Almost two weeks before I can get some back out here on my time. #17) I asked about the 21st when someone is coming to fix the microwave. Can't do. Then I asked when I spoke with someone yesterday they could have someone come out the second half of the 4 hour window. I was told that wasn't possible. I said then most likely I will have to re-schedule that one as well? ***Not once during this ordeal has Best Buy tried to rectify the situation. I am sorry but "I am Sorry" or "my next available" isn't good enough. I don't know how many thousands of dollars of stuff I have purchased from them over the past 20 years ... I would guess it is in the excess of $20 or $25K .... But this is most likely the last. I don't care if the appliances out live me ... Just see them make me want to throw up because of the whole ordeal.

Purchased this refrigerator July 2015, It worked well for less than 6 months. First the freezer went out... Dec. 22nd, then Dec. 25th our Ice maker stopped working and finally our refrigerator hasn't been working since December 26th. We first called LG Dec.23rd and did some trouble shooting, with no luck, we called back Dec. 24th and understood that we would not get a repairperson out until after Christmas...that was fine with us... We called again on Dec 25th because the Ice maker had then quit working. And were told we would receive a call Dec. 26th to set up our repair appt. We never got the call. Dec. 27th came and I called frantically because now the whole refrigerator stopped working. I was called back Dec. 28th to confirm an appt. for Dec. 31st, with a 3rd party Sharper Image. This I thought was completely unacceptable since I had been calling since the 23rd, but what choice did I really have. I then called Sharper Image to make sure we are on the schedule today Dec. 30th and they had not received our work order!!!!!! I called LG and they say they sent it via email to Sharper Image, which is not how they usually send work orders. I was upset that they would not go the extra mile and call to confirm the repair service got the order.... the customer service rep then put me on hold to call Sharper Image only to find out that the email address the work order was sent to no longer exists. The customer service gal told me that they don't have availability until Tuesday Jan 5th. This was absolutely not acceptable in any way, so I asked to speak with a Supervisor....after explaining my situation to him of my 4 kids eating out of a cooler in my backyard and all the hundreds of dollars in food I have had to throw out,,,all he said was I am sorry there is nothing else I can do but resubmit the work order. I am absolutely appalled at his response and the lack of customer service I have received. I will never again purchase anything made by LG. The only thing I can say is if you decide to purchase this refrigerator anyway, buy the geek squad protection plan because you are going to need it.

    Refrigerator failed after 15 months

Purchased this refrigerator in November of 2015 as it was offered at a great price on sale and because I needed a super large refrigerator for my family of 11. Loved the fridge and all of the space it provided until this past weekend when it completely stopped cooling. Called LG to see if they could do the over the phone diagnosis. Was told that it is likely a compressor failure. ( After only 15 months !!!) I explained that our warranty had just expired and that an appliance this expensive should last longer than 15 months. After talking to a few different people, LG offered to have it repaired free of charge.( Awesome news... I thought...) They gave me an approval code and the name of the 2 LG service providers in my area. The next morning I called both servicers only to be told that one does NOT service my county and the other told me that they no longer do warranty work for LG. Called LG back and explained the situation. They told me they were sending a request to have LG find an alternate service provider and that could take 3-5 business days. At this point I have been without a refrigerator for 3 days and have lost all of the food that I could not fit into my small garage fridge.( Keep in mind I have 9 kids, so we keep a lot of food... and I had just been to the grocery store and filled the fridge). One week into this ordeal, nothing from LG. I called them again and was told that I could call around and find a local service provider and that they could try and approve them to service the refrigerator. Well.... called 12 different servicers and they either did not work on LG or they would not do warranty work for LG as they have problems getting reimbursed. Called LG again and was told that they are still working on it. At this point I have thrown away everything from the fridge and it is just sitting in my kitchen looking pretty and taking up space. I really love this refrigerator when I first got it, but it has become a nightmare and it appears a waste of a large amount of money that my family does not have to replace it. Doesn't work, can't get service... stuck with a lemon. I would not recommend buying an LG appliance to anyone... not after this.

    LG Refrigerators are Junk

For those of you shopping for a new refrigerator and are considering buying an LG product- Don't do it! We purchased a 30 cu. ft. french 4 door refrigerator (model LMXS30776S) and it has proven itself to be the nightmare that never ends. The suggested retail price is currently listed just under $4k when they should be paying people not to buy it. Since purchasing this piece of junk we've had 4-5 compressors replaced, a new computer module installed, something done to the seal system and now a 3 way valve needs to be replaced and still have no idea if this will resolve the problem. I'm not a tech, but I can't imagine there is too much more you can replace. Rather than valuing customer satisfaction, they continue to take a band aid approach and attempt to try to piece this piece of junk together one part at a time. I'm absolutely certain, with all of the service calls and parts that have been put into this piece of metal, it would have been cheaper to replace it by now. This does not include the food we've lost and most importantly my time!!! That said, if you're shopping for a new refrigerator- run Forest run from LG!! Oh I forgot, I guess I'm supposed to be grateful they offered me a 15% discount on a $30 water filter.

I purchased this refrigerator from Best Buy Pacific Home and Kitchenfor $2699. Later I saw this at Fry's Electronics for $2199. I have had this now for over a week and am truly delighted. I had a 25cu ft Samsung stainless side by side refrigerator. Pros -Spacious, the indoor icemaker provides more usuable room inside -Organization is excellent with the door in door, put your most used items like milk, juice, peanut butter, jam, ketchup, mustard in there -Grab and go drawer is excellent for yogurts, cheese, butter, salad, etc and its programmable -Lighting, nice and bright and you can easily find everything -Water filter in door, leaves more space in refrigerator unlike old Samsung -Relatively quiet, ice dropping is not as loud and compressor is not loud like Samsung -Drawer and freezer drawer glide close themselves -Door alarm sounds cool -No problems with ice coming out, water spout is nice and high so no crouching -Freezer has two trays to organize veggies, ice packs, large items, easy to find food, no pulling multiple trays out and have food fall through Cons -Ice production is only 3.5lbs, so if your having a party you will need to use ice cube trays or go buy a bag od ice or use your old refrigerator in garage -No magnet will stick to door front, so no whiteboard or calendar going on the face of the doors, could go on side only -Will show water splashes or fingerprints easily, so you will wipe down more often likely than you would like Summary, I am delighted with this refrigerator the pros over the side by side are great (organizational abilities, spacious, lighting, quiet, ice maker always dispenses unlike waiting for Samsung to drop a cube, no crouching for water, it has a light too. I love this LG LMXS30776S refrigerator at near 30cu ft, french door, with door in door and grab and go drawer. Freezer also has two shelves and two large buckets, if you put some thought into your food organization, you can find it very quickly. 5 stars, LG got this design right with 4 doors. Just wish ice maker was bigger, but can live with it with Ice Plus feature turned on.

Worse Purchase Ever, backed by weak service plan

I purchased this refrigerator in 2015. We were impressed with the large capacity and stylish design. Since it was such an expensive item, we opted for the "five-year" service plan. The first disappointment resulted from the poor output we experienced from the ice maker. The second was that over the first several months, all of the door-mounted storage bins began to crack. They all had to be replaced in the first year. Since then, the unit has completely stopped functioning three times, resulting in hundreds of dollars in lost food each time. The first time this happened because of a failed circuit board. The second breakdown was the result of a failed compressor. I spend several weeks in dealing with the warranty company over the repair because they twice sent out services that were not authorized by LG to replace the part. Once they finally admitted that they could not find an authorized repair center, I had to hire someone myself and have them reimburse me. Now, a year later, the replacement compressor has failed. They were able to find an authorized repair service, but we have spent over three weeks waiting for LG to provide the part. They will not replace the appliance unless the repair service they dispatch declares it beyond repair. In the meantime, I am stuck with a refrigerator that has not worked at all for almost three of the thirty-six months we have owned it. Clearly, I am stuck with a lemon. If you buy this model, you are unlikely to have as poor an experience as we have had. Lesson learned? Spend more time researching service plans. Next time, I will start the process with a local service company that I trust, determine which warranty companies they work with and the brands that they service and recommend.

    A Dream Come True

We love this fridge, and it is a dream come true. We have a gallery kitchen and it fit perfectly. I read some of the bad reviews that said it was noisy (the only time I hear anything is when the ice cubes drop, and only if I'm standing next to it), I read that the ice maker doesn't make ice fast enough (we live in Arizona 115 degrees in the summer and the ice maker keeps up fine for our household of 3). The cubes are small and do melt fast, but I find that if I drink my glass of water a little faster, then it's no problem. I read one review that said the only place to put milk was in the Door-In-Door, because if you put your milk inside you won't have any room for anything else. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I have 2 milk gallons in the Door-In-Door and 1 gallon inside, and still have a ton of room for everything else. The middle adjustable temp drawer we use for meats & cheese, and there is a ton of space in the freezer. The only problem we have had with this fridge was the delivery, the delivery guys had to remove all the doors just to get it through our front door, and when they reassembled it they didn't put it back together correctly. The main doors were uneven and we couldn't figure out how to adjust them, after a month Best Buy finally sent the delivery guys back out. Turns out they didn't balance the fridge correctly by adjusting the legs, of you can't do that without a level which I had but they didn't. You would think that if you deliver and setup products you would have the proper tools for customer satisfaction.

4 Months - Great Cavernous Fridge!

We purchased at Best Buy because of their price match policy and cost of the extended warranty/geek squad coverage relative to other major retailers. Overall a great fridge! After 4 months of use, the fridge is running strong with no major issues. We bought this to replace a 13yr old 26cuft stainless Kenmore side by side. Middle drawer is great for snack access for our three kids. Thru door access is great for milk, creamer other items that we use frequently. My wife swears that veggies seem to stay fresher longer in this fridge. We're still getting use to the Cavernous size of this fridge. I'm finding that we lose track of some items due to the internal depth. Something to keep in mind is that the larger 30cuft size, requires added depth so it sticks out a couple of inches more from the counter than our previous fridge...not a big deal...just something to keep in mind prior to purchasing. The icemaker is sufficient for our limited entertainment purposes. The compressor is quiet. As far as overall noise level, it seems to be just as quiet, if not quieter than our old fridge. I suppose it's all relative to your environment...kids vs. no kids:) There was a plastic taste to the the ice and water that took a couple of months to finally get rid of....hindsight this may have been user error of not completely wiping down with soapy water and removing ALL the plastic protection LG ships the unit with....we still seem to e finding a piece that we missed. The front is not magnetic, which is both good and bad. We can no longer put our kids artwork/pictures on the front of the fridge. This is sad, as it made us realize how many fingerprints we were hiding on our old fridge. It does take more effort to keep clean and fingerprint free, but it's worth the effort and has become more routine over the last 4 months. The stainless handle is definitely more challenging to keep clean compared to the plastic handle on our old fridge. Overall, a great fridge and would recommend if you're looking for a lot of space.

    Just what I needed

After looking at both the Samsung equivalent and this appliance I really wanted to get the Samsung...then I did my research and talked to Pacific Sales in the store and researched BB online reviews as well as CNET and other sources. My daughter also has a Samsung fridge similar (but smaller) to the one I wanted. One disturbing comment I found in several reviews was that the Samsung was noisy; some people even said it vibrated the entire floor. I asked my daughter about this and she verified that, at nite when the house was quite, the compressor from the fridge was indeed loud. So I went with the LG. I ordered the appliance on 23-Nov-15 and waited...and waitied...and waited. It finally showed up on Sat 30-Jan-2016. I had sold the previous fridge on Craig's list and had the delivery guys load it onto the buyer's truck. He drove off happy. Then they unboxed my new fridge and I was not happy to see 4 large dents - 2 on right door and 2 larger ones on the freezer drawer. Ugh...The delivery driver said he could have me a new one on Tuesday, which wasn't too bad. We had put all our perishable stuff in our outside fridge that normally just holds drinks and beer. I received a call from Pac Sales on Monday saying that they had no more of this appliance in stock and they did not know when they would get more. Seriously?! What I learned was that, for the Houston area, all deliveries for these appliances come out of a warehouse in Dallas. The Pac Sales guy told me they had received a alert from their central warehouse that the supply for this particular refrigerator was severely constrained and that LG was advising all retailers to warn customers of this fact. Ugh again. I couldn't yell at the Pac Sales guy in the BB store because this was clearly out of his control but I sure wanted to yell at someone! So if you want this fridge (and it is worth waiting for) just be prepared for an extended wait until LG can satisfy the demand. I finally got the refrigerator on Tues 16-Feb-2016 - a bit over 2 weeks after the first one. I've only been using it for just under 2 weeks now but we absolutely love it. We went with a larger fridge than we'd previously owned so that around the holidays we'd have enough room to store all the food we prepared for our family dinners. I'm giving this fridge 5 stars because, once we got it and began using it, my wife and I both love it. It's quiet and I love the middle drawer that has 3 temperature options. I also love the quick-access area on the right door where you can open just the outer door for milk, juice, butter, etc. If I change my mind in a few months I'll update my review but so far, it's looking good! Just a quick note about the installation: they did have to remove all the doors and drawers to get it thru the 36" front door which worried me just a bit. But they seemed to know what they were doing and I learned how to disassemble the doors if I ever need to. I'll also add that the delivery guys were top notch, knowledgeable and friendly.

Linear Compressor - Dies after 2 years

    Posted
    toomyw

The fridge is beautiful and worked great for 2 years and 3 months. Then the linear compressor died and while the part is under warranty, the labor isn't. In my area is was $740 to get it fixed. It took 2 weeks to find a service team that would work on a fridge where the compressor is under warranty but not the labor. They're so backed up. I had to find someone 40 miles away. The repair guy who came out said he's done 5 this week and had another one to go to after me. He did a great job quickly and charged $740 for the repair. I lost a ton of good food because of the failure and then had to pay $740 to get it fixed. I'm out over $1,000 not including my time on hold trying to find a service company. If this compressor fails every 2 years then I'm going to spend the equivalent of a brand new fridge every 6 years. What a headache. Do your research but realize that the LG Linear Compressor has a HIGH failure rate and your fridge will die at some point. Make sure you always turn off and empty your ice maker before you leave for any extended period so you won't have a pool of water when you get back. Even though the warranty is better now than it was when I bought the refrigerator (which totally stinks for people like me who bought it too early for the new warranty) you're still going to have a dead refrigerator at some point and all your food will be spoiled. Then you'll be waiting 2+ weeks to get it repaired.

    Great Fridge For Families

I purchased this refrigerator 4 months ago and absolutely love it! Our old refrigerator was only 18 cubic feet, which worked when it was just my husband and I. However, now with two active kids, we needed something bigger. First, the sales experience. When I walked into the store I was originally looking at another refrigerator that had a larger capacity based on the specs. However, the salesman took the time to listen to what I was looking for and explained how the one I was looking at had the water and ice mechanism in the refrigerator space, so my actual usable space was less that the stated capacity. He showed me this refrigerator with a slightly lower capacity, but the water and ice are in the door and actually has more usable space. Now, for the fridge. I LOVE it. My kids love the ice and water dispenser, they can easily fill their water bottles for practice. The crushed ice is a nice feature as well. Note, the ice and water are dispensed from different locations, my son didn't realize this at first and ended up with wet socks. The convertible drawer is so useful, it makes items more accessible to my kids. Also, the flat shelf in the freezer is great for frozen pizzas and other flat items. It gives you extra storage without taking up much space. Finally, our food is actually lasting longer! We are actually saving money because of this. For example, with our previous fridge when I bought a bag of fresh spinach or lettuce, it would go bad within a day or two of me opening the bag. With our new fridge, I had a bag of romaine that I had opened nearly a week earlier. I thought for sure it had spoiled... imagine my surprise when I opened the bag and the lettuce was still crisp and fresh! Definitely worth the price!

    Water/Ice unit leaks!

The Good: Initially, I thought it a great fridge that definitely offers a ton of space, which is perfect for my growing family. The small drawer is perfect for snacks and baby food. The quick access are in the front is also really handy. The French door design keeps the things that you need to get to most often at easiest reach. The Bad: It get marks and fingerprints very easily and isn't the easiest appliance to clean. To add to the issue, the water spout out front sprays really hard and often splashes onto the front of the stainless finish. I spend more time than I'd like cleaning it. Also the light on the front shines out toward you and not down to where you place your cup for water or ice. Because of this, it is blindingly bright and really annoying. The Ugly: I have two MAJOR issues with this fridge. First, the touch pad that you use to select ice type and lighting simply doesn't work most of the time. I have to press buttons several times and very hard to get the touch pad to work. The model in the store did not have this issue (one of the reasons we bought this one over another model). Second, the water/ice unit leaks. There is constantly a small puddle in the front of the refrigerator and drops of water on the floor. This can be dangerous if you have small children who use the kitchen a their own personal racetrack. I have had this fridge for just over a month and have had the part replaced by Geek Squad to no avail. Because if this, I am extremely disappointed in my purchase. I would expect a $3000 fridge to work without any issue.

I did a lot of homework to find the right fridge and I am so glad that I took the time. This fridge has all of the items that I was looking for. My favorite aspect of this fridge is the ice machine. It DOES NOT take up any space within my fridge and is fully contained in the door. This leave more space for items in my fridge. I have read a few reviews that complain the ice maker doesn't keep up with making ice for people who use a lot of ice. This is not the case at all for me. I live in a household of 4 adults and 2 kids. Almost everyone uses the ice dispenser and not once have we encountered a time where there was no ice to dispense. One feature about the ice maker that I enjoy is that it has the ICE PLUS feature that in the event you do need more ice, the fridge goes into power mode for making ice for 24 hours. I wish this feature could stay on for longer, but it works. The depth of this fridge is amazing and there is so much space. I am only 5'0" and have a hard time reach the top back of the fridge, but I think this is a great problem to have compared to my old small fridge. The middle drawer is a life saver for when I need to hide something from the kiddos because they forget it is there. HEHE It is great that it has an adjustable temperature control. It allows for me to store wine, or meat depending on what I need. The drawer freezer is also nice. I like to roll out sheets of cookie dough and chill them. The middle tray in the freezer is perfect for this and it allows me to put any size sheet. I am very pleased with this purchase and so happy that I upgrade from my double door fridge.

Bought this refrigerator and had it delivered to a house I built in October, 2017. Worked great the first 14 months...then started making noise. I called to get an LG technician to come look - and they want $125 just to come to my house - this does not include the labor or parts for the repair itself. While I have a very good idea of WHAT's causing the noise, the issue is going to require a new defrost sensor, as the evaporator fan is likely hitting ice. I don't have a spare 30cu ft fridge to empty all contents and unplug for 24 hours....which is what would confirm this, yet still not identify WHY there is likely ice buildup around the fan. Short story - $125 just to have someone tell me what I'm 90% sure of, then pay addition to get it fixed - on a $3500 investment less than a year and a half old - it's crap. They should either waive the fee to show up or cover whatever it will cost to repair. Look at the history of these LG refrigerators and you'll see that this is an extremely common issue across many of their models - you'd think they'd have been able to engineer a solution by now (goes back many years.) Very disappointed - they would NOT tell me any repair shops in my area, only that it costs $125 to send out an LG certified tech. Wouldn't buy another LG product with this limited life span to save my life....upset I bought this one. Do NOT recommend.

Bought this a bit more than two years ago as a package of kitchen and laundry LG products. We loved it for about 2 years. Then it broke. No cooling in the fridge and little in the freezer. Do a little web research and you will find thousands of complaints of failures of the 'revolutionary' compressor. Call around and you will find it nearly impossible to find an authorized repair person. You will also find the vast majority of independents refuse to work on LG refrigerators. Call LG and you will find a frustrating, long series of calls with little to no help. Finally get a repair person (after, say 2 weeks with no cooling) and you will find that although the compressor is warranted for 10 years it doesn't include labor. Then you will find that a new compressor is on back order and wont be available for weeks. You will also find that many people who get a fix have the same problem again weeks or months later. I looked at Consumer Reports and ratings on the web before I bought. I guess these are just starting to die now. Never again will I buy LG. In fact, I spent more than $10K per year at Best Buy (computers for my business) and I think I may give up shopping here just because they still carry this defective product. Don't believe me - go check the LG twitter feed or spend 10 minutes googling. Only good point is it looks like there are some class action lawsuits forming.
