I have never given a 1 star to anything. Because it is Logitech I am forced to give it 2 Stars just because Logitech tried to build a product that no one else built. I hope this review will save many hours or frustration. I will not give you this talk about 350 odd being too much money for a remote if it did what it is capable of 75% of the time and covered 75 % of the features. I spend 4 Days and hours each day trying to refine this and I hope I can save people precious time. sometimes you wonder if there can be ever a perfect universal Remote. In that space really there is only a harmony. Gone are they days when I had Sony everything including a Sony Receiver. My devices are LG 65UG9500 TV Pioneer Elite SC67 Receiver Pioneer Elite Blu ray player. Apple TV Gen 3 Dish network VIP 722K Note this:- This remote requires you to program via you phone smart app but sometimes it requires a hub, laptop and you remote all to be in the same room close. This smart phone app makes your Iphone 6Plus feel very deficient. This remote also required to use your WIFI all the time ! if you are playing XBOX and want to turn off your WIFI good luck since the reconnect to your WIFI from your HUB is so buggy and take for ever. So my aging parents or someone who hopes to get simplification cannot really be wowed by this remote ! I was able to easily program this remote and setup was not painless. It seems to have all the models and specifics of all my devices built-in or downloadable in a jiffy. Out of the box many of the buttons will not work. so you will have to fix each and everyone of them. You also may have to turn off HDMI control. So if you have a smart TV like the Samsung s and LGs then you have to live with input lag and increase the remote delays ..this will cost you 1-10 hours depending on how much patience you have. Somewhere along the line the remote will have to be charged by popping it in the cradle as the battery is designed differently and needs some charging.(this is not a big issue unless you are doing several syncs to complete setup). With HDMI control off everywhere I thought that was a good place to start. Almost all the basic functions work (my 30 bucks Dish network remote does that with no fuss at all. Sorry if I ticked off some Logitech fans !) The problem starts with Menus, or Smart apps. LG TV menus work but few options will have to be fixed painstakingly. I successfully did this. As I was really committed to set this so I can make it easy for my family. (Somewhere along the line you are thinking heck how lazy are we to not just use the original remote for Apple TV or Blu-ray. Everyday TV watching and turning things off works so great with the Dish network remote. On/off volume and channels and guide..well we all are good with that !) The hub placement was perfect and did not have to use the extender but when I turned off WIFI it struggled and sometimes what you fixed does not works consistently. The hard Exit button on the remote would always exit and change everything no matter what activity you are doing. Hugely annoying. So I teach it exit mean this via the original remotes for 3 devices. Guess what it work via my phone application but keeps failing after numerous Syncs. you have to believe me when I say this. Not impressive at all. Also the Phone App has the weirdest of navigation options not in keeping with the current crop of applications. My guess is Logitech developed this in 2005 and kept patching this. It requires a complete re-write. At this point I still had 60 percent of the standard buttons working (So most Cable/satellite remotes can do that is it not ?) The touch screen is very annoying and you could inadvertently select something you did not intend. The remote has a rubber back but it still is very hard to grip and very slippery.I think most could live with that if it did what is expected of it. You have to scroll way down to find something and you will have so many additional options (could be like 50-100 buttons that you need to manually remove to make your list smaller and manageable) 2 days ago I picked up the remote and it would not connect to the wifi at all. so I unplugged it and plugged it again. After the power reset it seemed to work fine but some things were so weird. Example when I eject Blu-ray tray and then try to close it close would not work from the remote. So I tried the Phone app. It works from the phone but not on the remote. So I fixed this again. Then I found that the pioneer MCACC menu loads up but the cursor button does not work suddenly. so I said that was fine I can use the original remote for that. Then few time the input kept switching back to apple TV input and I had to go to device menu and switch it back...with the input lag associated with all these dissimilar devices from various vendors. It took time so I had to go introduce delays and edit the activities. Finally I found that if I turned on HDMI control it work better so I turned it on. The problem is once you turn on HDMI control on LG TV and your Receiver (4 K content on smart TV requires some unique things I cannot go into those details) With the Logitech remote present it misbehaves. Before I had the remote this did not happen. I tried to use the original LG magic Remote and suddenly The Logitech remote app which is too smart to my liking seems to try to learn somethings. It frequently keeps asking you if a function works as intended and do you like to fix that. I have no way of turning this off. I can go on and on but I just wanted to share this with everyone. Please consider all this before your buy this remote. you have to ask yourself if you want to buy a Harmony Elite remote because every home theater enthusiast has one and it will keep you current or you really think this would save you time once you put the effort initially for 10 -50 hours and few days. Is it really that much easier than just using the basic universal functions in any TV or Cable remote. I have bought Philips and Sony Universal remotes in the past and all of them have been infinitely better than this product. I buy most everything on bestbuy or Amazon.. I purchased this remote from Best Buy and finally just before writing this review decided to return it. I rarely returns things. I do my research well before I buy. I am really disappointed and reluctantly returned it. IF YOU CONSIDERED ALL THIS AND STILL THINK ITS WORTH YOUR WHILE. CONSIDER THIS, UNLESS WE HOLD HIGHER STANDARDS FOR PRODUCT ACCEPTANCE YOU WILL HAVE COMPANIES SELLING YOU STUFF WHICH ARE HALF BAKED WITH THE PROMISE THERE THAT THERE WILL BE SOFTWARE UPDATES. BELIEVE ME IF IT DID NOT MEET YOU BASIC NEEDS OUT OF THE BOX ITS NO LIKELY TO GET FIXED COMPLETELY. PLEASE DO THE WORLD A FAVOR AND GIVE THE RIGHT FEEDBACK SO THEY WILL WORK HARDER ON THE NEXT ONE. SORRY LOGITECH!

Does not work reliably with DirecTV Genie 2

I have gone round and round with both Logitech and DirecTV support technicians to make the Harmony Elite system work with the DirecTV Genie 2 (specifically, the mini C41W-500). Apparently, the remote works with older DirecTV models, but DirecTV is unwilling to downgrade me to one of them. Furthermore, they (DirecTV) say they will not guarantee nor support any non-DirecTV remotes. Logitech technicians have tried a number of tweaks to my Harmony settings to make it work with DirecTV. It's gotten somewhat better, but still very unreliable. For example, if I try to change channels using the "Favorites" button, it fails 35 out of 100 times (yes, I counted!). Worse, fast forwarding through commercials is frustratingly flaky. Hitting the play button to stop the fast forward works about 2/3rds of the time. So, 1/3rd of the time, the program keeps fast forwarding until you're about three minutes in and then have to rewind to the end of the commercial. The remote works fine with other devices (Sony TV and BD Player). The back-lit keys work great and it's nice not to have to aim the remote at anything (since it uses RF instead of IR).

Was excited to bring this home, and get it set up. Was fairly easy to add devices to its programming, but ended up having to call tech support to get me TV set up. They had to change the way the television received the signal in the remote, and something that wouldn’t have been possible without their remote work. It added my sound system, and game systems, without issue, but it doesn’t have any capabilities to run different apps like vudu, or Netflix. My television actually has a Netflix output programmed into it, so I was able to get that running. I was very disappointed at the features available, especially for the cost. Another issue I have is when I select a channel on the display, after it’s been charging, it toggles the power to my television and sound system, instead of just turning them on, so if the television is already on, it will turn them off, and you have to got into the device list, and toggle the power for each I device that was turned off. The power off button does power down everything correctly though. This is a very expensive universal remote, and it covers a very large number of devices, but for the lack of features available, I wouldn’t recommend the investment, unless you’re unable to find an alternative remote that covers your equipment.

I've always had Harmony Remotes for my home entertainment but this might be my last. Logitech wants you to do the setup through the Harmony app which is not designed very well. The first thing you do is pair the hub to your home wifi through the app. Well, my hub did not feel like pairing for over 45 min. Logitech's support page offered little to no help and you can't plug the hub into your computer. After that ordeal was over the app takes you through the arduously slow set up process. Even though I have 150mbps up and down for home internet I found that settings took between 45 to 90 seconds to sync to the hub/remote. For my home theater set up I have a receiver which 8 devices connect to and then display on the TV through HDMI 1. The TV input should ALWAYS be HDMI 1 regardless of the activity. During setup the app wants you to test activities, testing takes about 5 min while the app syncs to the hub etc. Every single time I added a new activity the remote would not keep the TV on HDMI 1 but instead set it to Cable channel 134. I would then have to go in an manually edit the activity and reset the TV input to HDMI 1. Then I would have to wait for it to sync and test again. Over all this made each activity set up painfully 15 min long and I had 15 activities to add. Once you finally get the remote set up its as good as previous generations. I just think Logitech made it needlessly complicated to use.. that's why I wouldn't recommend to a friend.

I wanted to love this remote. I had read that it supports the PS4. It does, sort of. Why would you want a remote for the PS4 when you have the game controllers? The only reason that I can think of is for controlling BlueRay movies as the game controller is cumbersome for that task. That is the only thing the Elite does not support, at all, and powering it ON as Sony allows no remote to do so. But you can't use Play, Fast-Forward, Rewind, Pause ... the Elite does not do so. The Elite did do well on controlling our Denon Receiver, Panasonic TV, Apple TV, Amazon Fire, Roku, and Motorola Cable set-top box. And it did well on switching between Activities, when it recognized your touch ... but that was not consistent. I found that the Elite did not always respond to screen taps, touches, pushes even when trying to start other Activities. Even Watch TV, the main purpose of the entertainment system did not always respond. Which is why after just 2 days I returned this somewhat annoying, sometimes frustrating remote that I really wanted to LOVE. For $300+ I expect more. This remote did not fit that bill, not even remotely. My Harmony 850 works much better, though it supports one less device than I have. But it does support BlueRay movie control on my PS3 with the small add-on mini hub from Logitech. The Elite does not have that option even. As a work-around I just set up a second Game option, Play PS4, and just changed the output HDMI port from my Denon so I can at least control volume, picture, etc.

I bought to replace an old Monster (but Harmony-driven) remote cause I replaced several components. I wanted something to control the new and thought it would be compatible with the old, including my z-wave light switches. Website says the remote was compatible, but it didn’t mention that it is only compatible IF you buy another hub type component for another $60 bucks. The remote is RF, but it only goes to the hub which then transmits only IR. You can use the remote to control only, but that negates the ability to control w the hub. I got it set up, I would get some components responding sometimes and other ones not responding w others. I tried moving the hub, adding/moving IR blasters, etc, and couldn’t get it to work anywhere near reliably, especially with my cable box. Part of the problem is that the box is RF controlled and in a cabinet. The remote itself was not getting through the cabinet well enough an couldn’t use the hub, etc. I finally returned it because it just didn’t suit MY particular needs. Would only recommend if you have to control only IR controlled components together.

I own two other Logitech Harmony remotes and love them. When this model went on sale, I decided to take the plunge so I could integrate my Smart Home devices with my entertainment devices. Set up was pretty easy, and I was even able to transfer the settings from my other remote to this one. That's where the fun stopped. My remote would constantly sync. Every time I picked it up, it would start syncing before I could even press a button. I reset the remote and it was fine for a while, but then it would start the endless syncing again. I shouldn't have to wait 30 seconds every time I pick up the device before I can use it, especially when it's a remote control. The hub would also go off line and I had to reset that a few times. Now mind you, I only had the device for 3 days. Setting up new devices and routines via the app was slow and painful. Doing this via the Harmony App and USB cable was a little less of a hassle. The touch display on the remote was not very responsive and I often had to press the desired function several times. Overall, this device was more of a hassle than it was worth, and for $300 I expected much better functionality. I am a tech savvy person and also work in IT, so I usually can make something work with what I already have. Unfortunately, I could not do that with this remote.

This being one of the most expensive all-in-one-remotes out there, I expected more. On the plus side, it can control my Lutron lighting, projector, AVR, blu-ray player and satellite DVR; but it is inconsistent and does not work as advertised for the playstation 4. Everyone knows that you have to turn on the PS4 with the game controller first before this remote will take over, but even after that, this remote only controls the direction buttons, enter and the PS button. I cannot fast forward or rewind while watching movies on the PS4. Sometimes while trying to adjust lighting, I have to press the button mutliple times before it works. The LCD is not customizable enough - if I want to watch DirecTV, I have to scroll through the screen windows to get to the numbered buttons screen, when I think that should be the default. Everything is backlit and will light up when you pick it up which is nice. Also like the rechargeable stand. But overall, for this price - not worth it. Unfortunately I have to keep it because there are no better options with the button layout, backlit, lighting control and other functions that I need.

I had previously owned the older version of the Logitech Harmony remote which after 5 yrs stilled work but due to wear and tear we decided to upgrade. I like this new version but the buttons are definitely smaller in size and the "charge" on this remote barely holds for 24 hrs. We constantly are having to charge this remote. The Geek Squad had set up the remote & gentleman who programmed the remote advised us to allow the remote to deplete its battery charge prior to putting it in the charging station so as to not wear out the rechargeable batteries but seriously we get about one day prior to having to charge the remote! The older version would go for days prior to having to charge it. When the remote works - it works great except for the #s when inputting a tv station. You have to be extremely exact while being "quick" enough to input a double digit channel # or you end up with just one # or a wrong channel. Honestly as I type this review I realize how unhappy I am with this remote. The older version was better & considering the cost of this "new" Logitech Harmony I would have wished for a more responsive device that would hold a charge

I have an older 890 remote where the battery died and a best buy gift card so i decided to upgrade. Frankly it was a far better remote based on how much you could actually program and it's programming flexibility. Programming through the app is a joke and now I'm going to program through computer to see if its any better. They also say some items like Minka Aire fans are "sort of" supported which is a lie. If you don't need to control an array of home stuff this is a total and complete waste of money. My automation is largely through an alarm company with it's own app so this become even more useless in that regard. You don't have many options if you want a nice screen but this is an overpriced option for what you get. The app is quirky and kicks you out frequently. There was also a claim that it was more ergonomic and easier to get to some buttons. I'm not sure who said that but again, thats also up for debate. I have a sold cabinet for my components and the hub works EHHHH at best. I've had to move it 5 times and it still doesn't turn on and off my stuff right. You've been warned. Don't believe the hype.

I have two Harmony Companion's. My thought was that this would make things easier with the color touch display as my home theater get more complex. It seems like there is always an issue. I get two days at most before having to put the unit in the charger. No where near what the manufacturer advertises. No number keys are just about a deal breaker. I realize you can access them with a couple swipes, but it is a hassle. Half the time the numbers don't respond, and since there is no feel in the touch, I have to look at the remote instead of the TV. Nothing more frustrating than seeing two of the numbers respond but the unit doesn't recognize the third so you have to start over. Activities are great, but when starting them they do not always respond and I have to try it again. Given all of these issues, I would stick with the Companion. It is more reliable and half the price.

Not what I expected for price and word of mouth reviews. Works OK but not without glitches. App is useless. Often need other original MFG remotes to make changes to sound/EQ/options. But, makes watching TV or listening to music fairly easy for family users. Just don't expect a perfect remote for the $ that does it all. Yeah, I know, if I wanted to scroll through allot of screens I could in theory do most of what the mfg remotes do, but it's much easier to hit the single button on a mfg remote than scroll through up to 10 pages of features on the tiny touchscreen. Real value is far less than the $250 or so they charge for this. Recommending only for basic user functions for those who feel a full featured HTX is too complicated. For example, my wife and kids love it. As for me, I do use it to turn everything on. But if you like to tweak settings to adjust sound or TV due to variations in recordings, keep your mfg remotes on the coffee table. Or spend 4x the time doing that on this remote.

I've been working with technical support for seven months now, An issue that I've explained to them and verified with them is definitely a design problem. The remote software seems to have some incompatibility within itself, when the remote screen sleep time-out is set during normal use the unit becomes unresponsive for 30 - 60 seconds periodically. This is not acceptable at this price level. The advanced "white glove" support team is not able to fix the problem with a software update and they have not offered a suitable replacement...I guess because it can not be resolved without updating the hardware. I pointed the problem out to them after I became aware of the issue soon after purchase but they continue to tell me they are working on it...I am well out of the Best Buy warranty, my only hope is Harmony Logitech will stand by the product if this is not resolved. Very pricey for so so product.

Does the job. Some items sync quickly and easily others say they are synced when in fact they don't work at all. Remote needs IR blasters to work for items behind walls or in cabinets. Biggest disappointment is that you need more than one remote/hub to work multiple tv's and other products spread throughout the house. This is not a one remote to control all products in my house device. This is a control all products within my one room device. To me that is a big difference which needs to be spelled out better. The cost for this product and limited use is the reason why I gave it 2 stars.

There is a return button on the remote, but it doesn't work. You have to use the virtual button. But be careful how you scroll to it, you might change the channel. And handle it like an egg rolled in grease. If your finger brushes near the window, you change the channel. Turn off the tv and put it in the cradle the wrong way, and wham, it turns back on. Lots of clutter on the screens. Way too sensitive. We had to upgrade to it because the buttons on the older version we have suddenly stopped working. It was less than 2 years old. What does that tell you?

I’ve got a number of Harmony remotes and when one stopped working decided to upgrade to the big dog. Well..... For somethings it is good. Others it’s a pain. Primarily with FireTV. You have to pair with Bluetooth. But every couple of days it loses pairing and has to be repaired. Then a pain to pair. Not only that but you really can’t do much till it repairs. Have to find the FireTV remote to control FireTV through the repair process I am on the fence about returning. Not what I’d expect from this level of appliance.

Plus the remote froze on me. I have an Apple TV, Sony tv, xfinity cable box, marantz CD player, lg Blu-ray player, Sonos amp, and PlayStation. The remote could find setup information for all my components, but controlling them was a chore. I returned it and have no regrets doing so.

We had the Harmony One Remote and were very happy with it. After many years it had to be replaced. We chose the Harmony Elite because it supposedly is a great product. The touchscreen can be very tricky, easy to hit the wrong button and sometimes it responds very slow. Sometimes when using one of the memorized channels it only puts in part of the number. There have been times when no one is touching the remote and it changes activities.

Remote does not meet our expectations. Keys are real small and it the DVR is on while the TV is off, it takes many attempts to get TV to turn on. It is difficult to get the touch correct on the number pad, start TV screen and favorites so you get what you want The number pad is the most difficult to get the right numbers. We have had the remote for 3 weeks and still have difficult getting the right "touch". Would not recommend to anyone who needs glasses to read.
