Innovative Camera Security System
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Being my first surveillance system, I wasn't sure how hard it would be to set one up. I am a technical person and while I have never completed a wiring run or run wires through walls, I can say this is the hardest part about the setup. Once you get through this step, the rest of the setup is easy. I have done much research and through my research, I have always found experts and in general, people who own a camera system, say it is better to have a wired system vs wireless. While I will not talk about all the benefits, a few are not worrying about batteries, wireless security, and it affecting your network performance. After running the cables to the Lorex DVR, their setup was very easy and simple. Although a few of their menus to navigate around the different settings looks complicated (they have lots of features), they take you step by step to configure your cameras the way you would like. Out of all the features my favorites are being able to select which areas of the camera you would like for the camera to ignore motion and for the cameras to actually be a deterrent system. For example, if you setup a camera for your front door to record when there is motion, you can set it to ignore any motion from cars passing by (a very nice addition). Using that same example, you can also setup that at certain times of day when it detects motion to sound a siren or give a warning message. This is great! In each camera the kit comes with has a small speaker that is able to do this. Being a 4k surveillance system the picture is fantastic. The cameras are rated for 30 feet of night vision and I can certainly say they can reach that while still having clear picture. After 30 feet, it starts to get grainy but depending on how you setup your cameras another camera can compensate for that area. Overall, I can definitely recommend this system to anyone looking to setup a surveillance system for the first time or if you already have one. Setup is easy, picture is great, and can even deter a thief with a siren if it ever comes to it!

Lorex camera system.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to set up and use. Really useful features like custom montion control which is just incredible. Great night time vision. The siren is not as load as I thought it would be but still a good deterrent.

Excellent camera system!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have set up several different camera systems for friends and coworkers so I know a thing or two about different brands and systems. I decided it was time to get one since I had purchased a house and I made the right decision. This one is the best of the best. Right out of the box it was an ease. Set up was super simple, comes with a sticker template to make it easier to drill the holes. The image quality is very impressive and has amazing night vision.

Great cameras
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgraded our old cameras to these and...wow!!! The picture quality is excellent. You can zoom in and it still a pretty good picture, clear enough to read a license plate. Great night vision too. Just do know how to get the lights on the cameras to work and wish it had sound. But over all very happy!

Very good camera
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.they have very good customer support from Lorex. The camera show very clear. Night time if there is sufficient lighting outside, the camera will show colored. The frame rate for the 4k video sucks. You have to sacrifice the 4k to get 30fps.

Great 4K cameras
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are looking for a good quality camera system here is it. Everything you need, good length on wires from camera to dvr, easy hook up, watch from your device while you’re gone, motion sensor, alarm sound and led flash, multiple ways to record. Night vision better than expected, just an all around good quality system.

Seems to work pretty well
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had some recent prowlers so picked up this system. The cameras have great range. They don't move or anything, but I don't need them to. The install was pretty easy, just needed to run the cables exterior and mount the cameras. The control unit is quieter than I expected. There aren't a bunch of good instructions or anything, so doing things like setting up the areas of the camera view you want to have alarm audibly took some trial and error, but it worked. I still haven't figured out how to get it on my cell, but don't really need that since you can hear the alarm clearly throughout the house (and outside!). After messing with little details for a few days, I have it setup pretty well. I figured out how to get to the latest alarms and watch that video to see what set it off. That helped me understand that wind in the branches can do it, bugs that fly close to the camera, even steam coming up from the dryer vent when there is no breeze. I really like that there is night vision. Not a light that shines out there, but true night vision. It's like it's day out when it's pitch black. Awesome! One thing I hope they develop is longer cables so I can get my last camera on a hard to reach corner. I need longer than the 100' exterior cable they offer. Interior goes farther. I recommend this item.

Good Security Camera for the price
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good security cameras. They can be connected to Smart TV. Our TV is 70 inches and it showed perfect video playback or real-time. Good night visual with no light. Easy app to watch on your phone with notifications if any activity happens. I will definitely buy more to extend the other side of my property.

Amazing camera system
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Lorax 8 channel, 8 camera Indoor/Outdoor 4K system a few months ago and I’m happy to say it everything I was hopping for and more. The night vision is amazing and in color you can see everything from the cameras well. The system was fairly simply to install me and a friend installed mine works perfect. I have it to where I can see my camera on my TV at any time they can also be set to a computer monitor if you wish to view this way. Lorex thank you for a great system.

Terrific Cameras, Secure 4k Recording, Dated UI
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Lorex wired 4k surveillance system is very good overall. In the box, you have a very large base with a plethora of connections for cameras, HDMI out, a USB port, and a few other ports. I would have thought the base could be a lot smaller than it is and a lot more quiet. It tends to run a bit hot, which may at least partly explain the size (better ventilation). It's about the size of a 13" laptop, if the laptop were close to 2 inches thick. The base has to connect directly to your router or modem. It also needs a monitor connection for setup. the contains a 2 TB HD, so you have plenty of room to record video. There are different camera configurations. In this particularly set, there are four 4k cameras. The cameras are excellent. Images are clear. Mounting is straightforward. Basically, you plug them in, and they work like a charm. Resolution is strong. Clarity is excellent. Field of vision is a little more restrictive than I'd prefer (about a 90-degree range), but I would guess that's part of the trade-off of having 4k. The cameras allow for digital zoom. They also have pretty good night vision. The cameras include a power cord that all four cameras connect to. This is a little bit limiting, but manageable. There are four cables to run from the base to the cameras. Each cable is about 65 feet long. This could can be a problem for installation. For instance, due to the need to be connected to the router and monitor, I had to set my base unit up in my office, which is on the front corner of my house. The home is reasonably sized, and the included cables are too short to reach to the opposite corner of the house outside. But as long as you are careful, the cables do buy you a decent range for placement options. Just remember you have to account for vertical distances as well. There are longer cables available for purchase separately. I wanted to use the system a little while before posting a review. That's in part because the initial setup was a bit disappointing. Included with the system is a pretty cheap wired mouse. When you start the install, it looks like you're installing something for Windows 95, or maybe even DOS. You cannot connect a keyboard to the system, but you have to enter a password. You do this by clicking on the virtual keyboard beside the password box. I swear it took me more than five minutes to figure that out. I kept trying to change the user name instead, but it wouldn't let me enter that field. Regardless, once the setup is complete, you have a set of screens that are not super intuitive unless you designed it. You can toggle between viewing the cameras and getting to other settings. You have to poke around with it a bit because the instructions are not particularly helpful. I know that sounds fairly negative. And it was not a pleasant experience. But once you get it up and running and get a little more used to it, it works fine. I do wish the UI were a lot more modern, but it is functional. Meanwhile, you do have access and a significant level of control via the app, which thankfully is much more modern than the UI for the base. Just make sure you download the correct Lorex App. For the camera system, you want Lorex Home, not Lorex Secuity. Once the system is up and running and you get comfortable with the UI, it's pretty awesome. It comes across much more like a "professional" security system than a DIY. Overall, I'm very pleased. It excels at the basic things I wanted it to do. I hope they find a way to improve setup and the UI. My suggestion would be to include BT and let your phone be the interface for setup. My rating for this is really 4.25 stars, but the system doesn't work in fractions. If the field of view were a bit wider (say 120 degrees) and the UI and setup were improved, this would be a clear 5-star product. Even with the few flaws, it is an excellent security camera system that I am confident recommending.

Not bad at all...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had some mixed feelings about this DVR surveillance system. Honestly, my expectations was very low. I always had big names DVRs. Some of them failed withing 1 year of use (they blame it on lighting storms). This :Lorex is easier to set-up. The DVR is kind of HUGE when compared with others and also heavier! The power supply is kind of more robust! Which is something good. Setting it up was very easy and straight forward. It took really no time and no support was required. I followed the steps! Out of the box, it is shipped with 4 cameras and 4 connecting cables. They are Coaxial video and DC power. They are not long enough for my application. I'll have to improvise... Installation is scheduled next week if weather allows. For now, I just connected the cameras and screen and let it run for a while to see how things will go. Phone app is not bad at all. Easy to use and very accurate notification delivery (sometimes annoying if not set properly). From the phone app you can control the camera's light and the siren. The cameras are already equipped with very powerful IR shooters that are really good for night videos! Turning the extra light on/off didn't add any remarkable improvement... Maybe it is more intended to let you know that you are being monitored. The siren is honestly useless... Very weak and very low noise! When comparing the cameras to other brands, they indeed feel cheap but when holding in hand, they are kind of sturdy! it is just like the company didn't invest much about the external look. 4K high quality image is indeed a bit different than average regular 1080 or 720 DVRs but you still have to do some adjustment for each camera (noise cancellation, colors, saturation... etc). The DVR OS is very responsive and not lagging like some others! some useful options are included! Easy to access and to configure as needed. DVR buzzer/beeper sound is low. I will maybe use the external audio output to increase the volume. I need it where the system will be installed. Later on, I need to check if they have a software that can be installed on computer to have some of the monitoring/control options... In summary, it is not a bad DVR system at all. Doing the job great! Only time will tell how long it will last monitoring! Another thing to check: Will the DVR work with some other type/brands cameras? I might be able to re-use some of the low video quality cameras I have from other systems... The same for how long a cable can be before losing signal! On one of my old DVRs I figured out the loss of signal was because of the voltage drop in the long wire. DC voltage can't go very long! So I bought one of these voltage regulators with input 5-11V and 12V regulated output. It works just fine... It might be a good problem solving! Another method I was thinking about is to get couple of these Coax to LAN interfaces... I do recommend this to a friend! I know it is not a big name product! But give it a chance!

Fantastic video quality, tricky operation.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had this for about a week, but weather prohibited hooking it up until last Sunday. Now that it’s been up and going for a few days, I can share some thoughts. First off, yes, I’m totally paranoid. I had an Arlo system watching my front and back doors for two years, but I was worried about my car and was upset with the limited recordings of the Arlo unless you paid money. This system has great coverage, and the video feed is crystal clear. Night vision is pretty clean too. Supposedly has color nightvision but for some reason I only get the typical green scale. Motion capture works well, although someone or something can be halfway across the yard before it notifies you. It did video a skunk in my garden at 3am. Downside is setting it all up. Arlo was basically plug and play. Lorex has a lengthy walk through and their app isn’t as consumer friendly as I’d like. If you used a professional security camera, this will be easy, but for first-timers the settings can be a tad overwhelming. The dvr is a huge improvement over past units. It doesn’t look like a recorder. It looks like a surge protector/backup box or a cable box. It’ll take criminals a few minutes to figure out. Wish it was smaller, then it would easily hide among streaming boxes. Took my wife and I around 4 hours to install total, but well worth it for the peace of mind that comes with knowing who in my neighborhood is skulking around my house.

Expansive Security Monitoring
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Lorex security system is very comprehensive. It includes four cameras, but can be expanded with more cameras. They record at 4k, have an alarm that can be remotely turned on, and a motion activated warning light. They also have excellent night vision, and because they record in 4k, you can zoom in as much as 16x. With 2TB of storage, the system can record as much as you need, even over extended vacations and travel. One of the best elements of savings of the Lorex cameras, is that there is no monthly monitoring fee. Pay the initial purchase price, then you are done. No extra bills. If you are not genuinely handy, I would recommend a professional installation for these cameras.
