I recently purchased the MacBook Air with the 13.3" display and Apple’s M1 chip for my daughter, and it has exceeded all my expectations! The performance is exceptional; the M1 chip seamlessly handles everything from school projects to streaming her favorite shows. With 8GB of memory, multitasking is effortless, allowing her to switch between apps with ease. The 256GB SSD provides plenty of storage for her documents, photos, and applications, all while ensuring incredibly fast boot and loading times. The battery life is impressive—she can easily get through a full day of classes and study sessions without needing to recharge. The sleek silver design gives it a modern and sophisticated look, and the Retina display brings vibrant colors and sharp details, making it perfect for both creative projects and casual browsing. Plus, it's lightweight and easy to carry, which is ideal for her busy student lifestyle.

Love it. Got it to run my small business - the apps and features on this make life easier - much easier than my HP where excel and everything else I had to pay for additionally as Numbers and Pages comes already on this thing for free. M1 chip is definitely worth it in my opinion. I refused to get a MacBook for the longest time as Apple products seem to go outdated quite fast and was assured by both Best Buy employees and Apple that the M1 would be their go to for some time. PROS - Fast processing, awesome display, seems to live forever between charges, microphone is good for being internal, easy to navigate, pre-installed apps to replace the expensive *** Microsoft apps I had before, lightweight, extremely slim so fits in every bag I own, enough settings to customize this to anyone (adaptability, sensitivity, voice command, etc), great laptop for students or small business owners CONS- camera is crap (but, it's a standard laptop cam, expect it on all laptops), needing adapters for literally anything that's not the charger (usb, SD card, etc), tends to get warm quickly but has yet to overheat

The MacBook Air with the Apple M1 chip is an exceptional laptop for everyday use. Its sleek, lightweight design and premium Space Gray finish make it incredibly portable and stylish. The M1 chip delivers outstanding performance, handling multitasking, app launches, and even light video editing with ease. The 13.3" Retina display offers vibrant colors and sharp details, perfect for streaming, browsing, or productivity tasks. With 8GB of memory and a 256GB SSD, it provides smooth performance and fast storage, ideal for students or professionals. Battery life is phenomenal, easily lasting over 15 hours on a single charge, and the fanless design ensures silent operation. While the limited ports (2 Thunderbolt/USB 4) might require adapters for some users, it’s a small trade-off for the exceptional value and performance. Overall, this MacBook Air is a reliable, efficient, and versatile choice for most users. Highly recommended!

Belter machine that started a new era

The Apple MacBook Air M1 (2020) is a laptop that has generated considerable buzz since its release, and for good reason. As a long term owner of this device, I would rate it a solid 3 out of 5 stars. While it boasts impressive performance and battery life, there are notable drawbacks that prevent it from achieving a higher rating. Performance The standout feature of the MacBook Air M1 is undoubtedly its performance. The M1 chip has transformed this laptop into a powerhouse, allowing it to handle demanding tasks with ease. I frequently run multiple applications simultaneously—such as Chrome with numerous tabs, Microsoft Office, and even some light video editing—and the MacBook Air never falters. The transition from Intel to Apple's silicon has resulted in faster boot times and snappier overall performance. In benchmark tests, it rivals even the more expensive MacBook Pro models, which is quite impressive for a device in this price range. Battery Life Battery life is another area where the MacBook Air excels. I can comfortably get through an entire workday without needing to recharge, often achieving upwards of 10-12 hours on a single charge depending on usage. This longevity is particularly beneficial for those who need to work on the go or in locations where power outlets are scarce. The fanless design contributes to its silent operation, which I appreciate during long working hours. Design and Build Quality However, the design of the MacBook Air M1 feels somewhat dated. At first glance, it looks almost identical to its predecessors, which diminishes the excitement of unboxing a new device. While the build quality remains top-notch—lightweight and sleek—the lack of any significant design upgrades makes it feel less innovative compared to other laptops released around the same time. Display and Keyboard The Retina display is crisp and vibrant, making it great for both work and entertainment. However, I found that the brightness could be improved for outdoor use; under direct sunlight, visibility can be challenging. The Magic Keyboard is a welcome upgrade from previous models with butterfly switches; it's comfortable for extended typing sessions and feels responsive. Limitations Despite its strengths, there are some limitations worth noting. The webcam quality is disappointing; during video calls, I often look grainy and washed out compared to other laptops I've used. Additionally, while the ability to run iOS apps is exciting, many of them do not translate well to a laptop interface, which can be frustrating at times. Conclusion In conclusion, the MacBook Air M1 (2020) is an excellent choice for users seeking a powerful ultraportable laptop with remarkable battery life. However, its lack of design innovation and subpar webcam quality hold it back from being truly exceptional. If you prioritize performance and battery life over aesthetics and webcam quality, this laptop will serve you well; otherwise, you may want to consider alternative options in the market.

Ecosystem: Seamless integration with other Apple devices boosts productivity and convenience. Value: Given its performance and longevity, it offers excellent value for money. Verdict: The MacBook Air M1 is a top-notch choice for those transitioning from Windows, combining performance, elegance, and user-friendliness.

I used to say I would never purchase an Apple computer since I was a very devout Windows user, however I have no regrets with this purchase. Very sleek, quick, and a beautiful display. The battery lasts for quite a long time - I only have to charge once every other week. If you love Apple products and want something that is lightweight and easy to take with you, this is definitely the right product for general personal uses. If you are wanting something more for editing, etc., the MacBook Pro would probably be a better option than this. However, this is perfect for work/school, The gold color is also a perk (it looks a bit rosier in-person than photos online).

Nice and thin with good build quality. Performance is really good. With the new M1 chip the laptop wakes up immediately from sleep, like the iPad does. It’s quiet since there is no fan inside but haven’t had a problem with heat unlike intel versions. The keyboard is so much better now that they went back to the scissor design. Also no one else can match the trackpad on an Apple laptop. For basic tasks it sips the battery so you can easily get a whole day. If you are looking for something portable with good performance this MacBook is perfect for you.

If you don't need a ton of RAM or storage, the base model MacBook Air is the perfect computer for you! The processor is so fast and efficient. The computer never gets hot, there are no noisy fans, and the battery lasts forever! The screen is great (not MacBook Pro great, but good enough), and the keyboard and trackpad are both solid performers. The lack of ports is a concern for many, although there are a lot of great USB-C hubs out there that can give you all the ports you need for an extra $150-200 bucks. In fact, one of the ones I used allowed me to hook up 2 monitors with the lid closed, so that gave me almost everything I needed in a computer. I had my Air for 3 years and loved it to death. The main reason I got rid of it is that I started using videos when I DJ and when I used Pioneer Rekordbox, the screen would sometimes freeze up, so I moved to a M3 Pro MacBook Pro and love that machine as well.

I am absolutely blown away by its performance. The combination of the M1 chip, 8GB of memory, and a spacious 256GB SSD makes this laptop a true powerhouse. First and foremost, the speed and responsiveness of the M1 chip are unmatched. Whether I'm multitasking with several applications open or running resource-intensive tasks, the MacBook Air handles everything effortlessly. It's a game-changer for productivity. The 8GB of memory ensures smooth multitasking, and I haven't experienced any lag or slowdowns, even with multiple browser tabs, documents, and applications running simultaneously. The efficiency of the M1 chip truly shines through in day-to-day use. The 256GB SSD provides ample storage space while keeping the laptop lightweight and portable. It's incredibly fast, allowing for quick boot times and near-instantaneous application launches. Plus, the Space Gray color adds a touch of sophistication to the sleek design. The MacBook Air's Retina display is vibrant and crisp, offering an immersive viewing experience for both work and entertainment. The battery life is exceptional, easily lasting me through a full day of use without needing a recharge. The MacBook Air with the Apple M1 chip is a phenomenal investment. Its powerful performance, efficient design, and impressive battery life make it an ideal choice for anyone in need of a reliable and capable laptop. I couldn't be happier with my purchase!

The MacBook Air 13.3” with the M1 chip is stupidly good. Like, I don’t know what Apple put in this thing, but it’s crazy fast. I can have 20 tabs open, Spotify playing, and still edit stuff without it even flinching. The battery lasts forever. I’m not kidding—it’s like it refuses to die. Perfect for when I forget my charger (which is always). The screen? Gorgeous. Everything looks sharp and colorful, and yeah, it makes me want to watch Netflix instead of work. Plus, it’s so light, I barely notice I’m carrying it around. Oh, and it doesn’t have a fan, so it’s completely silent. No annoying buzzing, no overheating—just vibes. Honestly, this laptop is unfairly good. If you’re not buying it, what are you even doing? Get one and thank me later.

It's everything I expect from a laptop. Plus it gives me all of that with zero fan noise (because there's no fan). Every app opens instantly, the display is awesome, and the battery life is the best around. We're really getting what we pay for with this. I've been trying to figure out what device I want and kept exchanging laptops at Best Buy because I kept running into issues with build quality, performance, and speed with other laptop manufacturers. I'm keeping this. It's everything I want and I'm finally happy with a laptop that meets my needs of what a laptop is supposed to do. Sure some might complain it's only 8GB of RAM. But I've had no issues with performance and had many windows open at a time with all sorts of different programs. I don't think saying oh it's just 8GB of RAM is a valid tech argument in the case with this laptop unless you're in a situation where you are multi-tasking while doing a production job that demands a high amount of RAM dedicated to it. At which point you're a professional and you know full well you should be using a high-end desktop for such a use-case which due to cooling capabilities of desktops will beat out any current laptop on the market. I myself have a desktop for such tasks and use it on occasion as needed. Plus I suspect you can just remote into your desktop from this MacBook Air (if not now then when it's soon supported) to do the same work anyways. The bottom line is this is a well built and well performing laptop that does what you want it to do and gives you what you would expect from a laptop of it's caliber and class.

M1 Macs are a Great Value in 2023

I was tired of using my heavy (but functional) 2009 MacBook Pro, which has dwindled to only about 3 hours of useful battery life. I was also tired of getting kinks in my neck from relying too much on my iPad (yeah, I can stand it up on a cushion but without a keyboard connected I was too often holding it like a bulky iPhone with the neck pain to show for it). I bought this 2020 MacBook Air (M1) because it was a great deal on clearance. In addition to vastly improved battery life — I only have to charge my MacBook Air every other day! — the early Apple Silicone Macs have the advantage of offering Rosetta (which means unlike future M2 models it can, for example, make use of Microsoft Office 2021 that also runs on Intel). I like how fast it is and the quality of the audio speakers and the screen. That said, this MacBook Air M1 freaked me out in that the first time I opened the laptop up it booted right away. I was asking myself if Apple was really crazy enough to eliminate the power button (like they eliminated the floppy disk and the optical drive back in the day, lol) until I realized that the TouchID button on the upper right serves the same purpose. This MacBook Air runs cold and quiet (no heat, no fans). It reminds me of using an iPad in that sense. Everything feels solid and well made. However, I was unprepared for the fact that the MacBook Air, when unboxed for the first time, smelled very strongly like mildew. C'mon Apple, would it kill you to put silica packs in the box considering that these products are made in extremely humid Southeast Asian countries? One negative is that there are only two ports on the side, including the charging port. Coming from the MacBook Pro I am accustomed to having options! I also would caution anyone buying a 2020 or later Mac to realize that everything internally is soldered together. There is nothing replaceable, not even the hard drive. If something fails, it's landfill waste. I guess that's one way to sell more AppleCare! Macs are becoming more and more like iOS devices every day, not just in terms of a similar GUI (macOS) but in terms of how they are constructed internally ("SoC"). I am happy with my first upgrade in many years but I suspect that within a year or so when first-generation Apple Silicone owners begin experiencing hard drive problems and learn that nothing is replaceable, the "honeymoon" will wear off. Apple should offset these changes by offering more generous amounts of RAM and higher hard drive capacity given that none of it is upgradable after the fact. (For example, the model I bought has a skimpy 256GB internal hard drive with 8GB RAM. Apple should offer no less than 512GB and 12GB RAM going forward.) For existing MacBook Air owners, repair/upgrade limitations are nothing new. But given that the M1/M2 extends these. limitations across the entire range of MacBook laptop and desktop products, there is less reason for the average user to buy a MacBook Pro anymore because you're not picking up a slew of extra ports or the ability to make upgrades/repairs internally, unlike the MacBook Pros from the Intel era. All in all if you buy these M1/M2 products in the understanding that they are essentially souped up iPads, you're good.

Best Buy is great place to shop for electronics items I’ve been shopping for with Best Buy for last 5 years I love it every time i buy something great customer service. I brought MacBook Air M1 long lasting battery life & charges quickly, great screen quality for any kind of content , the screen is amazing, Touch ID is useful in many ways like Apple Pay/signing in, the laptop is fairly light, keyboard is awesome (it does have a click sound when you type), the trackpad is better and more useful, and much more! Great laptop and is great for college students like me! Cons: THE PRICE lol, no Microsoft office installed(you need to buy separately, you GOT TO buy a sleeve or case since this is a scratch magnet, the speakers are not so great(bass is like fuzzy) , the camera quality is 2/5(blurry and just not great), and the ports(there are only 2 on the left side and on the right side, there is the headphone jack. It is kind of annoying that you have to use one side for charging. Other than that, it's very reliable, lasting, stylish, and overall a great buy for an upgrade or a new selection! This was my first apple MacBook and I primarily got it since I need a reliable laptop for college.
