Shame on me!

I decided to buy an ice maker because my new refrigerator doesn't have one and I was tired of being the only person who bothered to make the ice AND refill the tray after breaking them out. There were a lot of manufacturers making them and I never really heard much about them. (Neither did my friends from home and work) The reviews on them seem to sway in both directions which didn't help me. SO I decided to go with the size of the machine. I have a small home with not a lot of counter space. I keep the space sparse because of that fact. After much deliberation with myself, I threw a dart and landed on this one. BIG MISTAKE! After it arrived I read the destructions, oops...I meant "Instructions". I let it sit right side up for time they said, I cleaned it and dried it like they said. Filled it with water to the level they said and yup, it didn't work. Right out of the box. I must have reread the booklet 20 times and still nothing. So I sent it back and thought maybe this happened in shipping. Let's give it another try. After all, the size of the ice maker worked out. I returned it and shortly received the new one and it stated up just like I had imagined. I think it was a total of 3 times. It stopped working. Sometimes it reads “needs water”, which it doesn't. The buttons on the front do nothing at all. I've drained and unplugged it in every sequence I could think of and now all it does is blink at me. I'm calling to have the 2nd ice maker returned. BUT I'm not giving up on ice makers. I'm tired of refilling the ice trays. BUT I'm also not giving this one another chance either. Like the proverb says, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice; trust me, that is not going to happen!

unit worked fine throughout the warranty period of 12 months. Then, as the experience shows, unit will fail. This is the 2nd of two exact same units, and the first one lasted 18 months and now the second one is dead after 14 months. Repair costs are prohibitive.
