I bought the MagicJack as a way to get rid of my excessive phone bill for a home phone. It was pretty easy to install and setup. Porting the number over was done quicker than I was told during install. That was a good thing. I have used MagicJack with streaming TV and so far no dropped calls. Voices sound clear and easy to understand.
It has many options that you setup online for your account including emailing your voice mail to you.
It requires a network connection. Wireless would be nice, but I didn't need that option.
I found the 911 setup a bit confusing, but MagicJack does a good job at explaining it, but 911 does need to be billed separately. The 911 separate billing is easy to do, pretty cheap for my area and all online.
The MagicJack gets a bit warm which is not a real issue. The network LED lights are bright at night if you install it where someone sleeps or maybe just a cheap way to double up as a night light!
My only surprise with the MagicJack is the caller ID shows the number only, not a name associated with it. There may be a way to program a name in, but I have not tried spent much time researching it.
I have used MagicJack for about 2 months and so far so good.

I am extremely happy with my Magic Jack. It saves a considerable amount of money and I can use a land line phone. It has not cut out on me. It has an annoying single beep during calls sometimes but it can be overlooked for the money.
The set up was easy and I am not computer savvy. The customer service was a little difficult to deal with but overall a very good product. Paying full price for a phone line is foolish when you have a service like Magic Jack. I would recommend it.

MagicJack is easy to acquire and install. But be careful about all the add ons (transfer your existing line, other fees). You'd get gouged for similar fees by a regular phone company anyway. For the most part, the service is ok. Every once in a while a call will not come through and go straight to MJ voice mail. Also, when calling home through MJ, I will sometimes get one-way calls (I can hear my wife, but she can't hear me). For the reduced price versus the phone companies (really - what voice calls should cost anyway!), I guess these infrequent issues are ok. Another warning that is not on their website - the MJ does not support any security or call boxes that you might have in or around your home. If you wire these security/call boxes in line with the MJ, then the MJ will be 'off line' and you will receive no calls.

I have read many complaints about this product but my experience so far has been good. Had no trouble with installation of two of these and both seem to be working fine. We had tried previously with 1 Mgbt/sec DSL connection and it would not work. Now we have 5 Mgbt/sec fiber optic connection and it works fine so far during the month that it has been installed both for phone and fax. Based on what I have read, the quality and speed of your internet connection makes a difference. Porting old number over to Magic Jack worked quickly and easily for a $20 additional fee. I don't trust it enough to use it for business yet, but for personal calling and faxing it works well enough. I am worried that call quality might not be reliable, but only have limited evidence of this so far.

It is a nice alternative with free anytime calling in the US with a low fee, however, if you are ever on the phone for longer than an hour the call may get dropped. To date the longest call I have had is 1 hr & 30 min. It very convenient when you are on hold for an hour with the IRS...
Caller ID does not work if the phone is in use.

Its works well but the ad tells you no computer needed to use, You do need a router with high speed internet and before you can use this product you must register it That's right on the computer. But after registering and activating, it works very well.

Saving 520 dollars a year from my phone bill. Also able to keep my phone number that I had for 2o years. Easy to set up and register. The unit has dropped a few calls since installing it. Was worth the saving though.

So happy to lose my $30+ dollar a month phone bill with Century Link. As long as you have good high speed internet, you can have phone service for less than 1/10th the cost. I love that they have voice mails sent to your email as .wav files! And your computer does not have to be on, just your internet modem. I even got a vanity number. There are upcharges for things like that or porting your old number over, but still a much better deal than Comcast, Century Link or Vonage!! (I have had them all!)

The Magic Jack Plus is a perfect VOIP product, so simple & efficient.
I am using it since 2008 (the very early version of usb magic jack).
Currently I have 2 MJ+ & 3 USB MJ
2 things I hate about it: 1- the only way to contact customer service is Chatting, no phone number to call, it could take you hours of chatting to reach to nothing or something you could reach on a 3 min phone call to customer service rep.
2- it won't work with conference call numbers, I tried it many times on different occasions with no success despite it was working ok till 2011; now you have to buy credit to be able to connect to local conference calls.

As the title says, Works as good or better than my last MJ device I bought 5 years ago. Only with this one I don't have to keep my pc on 24/7. Which is the exact reason i bought the new PLUS device. Works great...
You do need a computer or a smart phone to initially go on the website and register the new device...but that's it.
Also i will say I have very fast internet and for the most part I always have. Except like one time 5 years ago my internet was slow...and that when i found the MJ didnt work so good. But once i got a plan that had at least 756k upload...any issues went away. I have a plan with 5Mbps Upload now.

I bough it for calls when I was in the US, it may have been the internet connections I used but I always got dropped calls in every city I tried it! It just didn't do what I though it would. When I did get a chance to it the clarity of the calls weren't the best either. Not sure I would recommend it for overseas use.

I just picked up this product. I needed a land line for my house just for emergency use. It does what it says. You'll have to spend a little extra out of pocket but is still way cheaper than having a regular phone line.

Bought this product because I have Hi Speed Internet and got tired of paying the phone company for a land line. Read the instruction from their online website and it took only a few minuted to install. Ported my existing phone number and even downloaded their app so I can use my smartphone to make calls, including international calls. Definitely worth the price and effort.

Magic Jack Plus is really nice once it is registered properly. As they provide you A free phone number. Works really nice. Must have A high speed internet. Gives you an option to plug into wall or into the computer. The Choice I decided on was the wall plug. The phone rings like A normal phone. The system is nice to talk on. Can hear on like A regular telephone. Like other's say it's well worth the money. Have to pay your telephone bill once A year. You really save A lot buying MAGIC JACK PLUS I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THIS.

The main purpose of buying this product was to have an inexpensive home phone number for school or emergency purposes since we use our cells phones most of the time. Installation was easy as 123 and sound quality is great. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for an alternate phone number without hurting your pocket. $100 for 5 years + 6 months of service. Good deal

I've seen this product advertised and finally decided to try it. With BestBuy's return policy, I had enough time to use it and see if it 'worked' for me.
Pretty simple to hook up, even for a non 'techie' like me. I chose an area code and, with the help of 'customer service' I had it up and running in no time. There was a slight 'challenge' finding customer service and then with one of the customer service associates or I'da given "Ease of Use" and "Excellent" rating too. Don't let that discourage you though because I liked the product so much, I bought a second one for my summer home.
I'm gonna go online and search because there must be a way to run this through my indoor phone wiring so I can have multiple phones in different rooms hooked up to it.
At $49.00 for the first six months, then $100.00 for the next five years, it's a great savings over the phone company.
I'd feel very 'comfortable' recommending this product to anyone.

The product is a reasonable backup calling device, but too often in-progress calls stop or drop - one party sometimes can no longer hear the other party. Also, the Android App often will not work unless you reboot the cell phone or uninstall and re-install the application. When installed, the Magicjack Android app is always on - no way to defeat it without doing an uninstall, and unless you are using Wifi or a strong 4G connection, your cell battery will get zapped quickly by this MagicJack app.
