This is an amazing value for a Special Edition. The art book is gorgeous, as are the art cards, and steel book. The game is simply incredible. I’ve been waiting years for this. The only problem is that Best Buy damaged the box of my special edition and could not replace it because it was out of stock and wouldn’t even give me a discount despite it being their fault. I really am not happy about that.

This game is awesome. I loved it. Btw, even though it says "digital" on the item's name (metroid dread special edition), YOU DO GET the cartridge inside the metal case. That is because there is no such thing as digital version of the special edition. So buy it with confident, enjoy it and love it. Lol. The only 2 problems I got were with Best buy. First, because they never sent me the promised stickers included with my purchase. And second, the item box came beat up due to cheap packaging from best buy. I even contacted them about the stickers but they said they couldnt send them to me. So I lost that. But best buy experience aside, this game will not dissapoint. I love this game, gameplay, and the difficulty! That deserves 5 stars alone. The steel book case and art is also beautiful.

Im happy enough to even buy a limited edition of metroid dread but come on best buy please pit your limited edition games in a box at least this looked like it got kicked around.(edges in slightly bad condition) also in good news dread has been a good game and a wonderful time highly recommend playing the game.

As a big fan of Metroid, I was very excited when I finally was able to get my hands on one of these. The game itself is fantastic, if not one of the best in the entire series. It was very nice finally getting to play a 2D Metroid again with a brand new story. The art book is also very beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all of the different concept art for Dread as well as some of the other 2D games in the series. The steel book is also very pretty and looks amazing displayed. The only reason I’m giving this 4 stars is because when it arrived, the box was damaged on the sides. I’m sure that wouldn’t be an issue for some, but for me being a collector it did bother me. The art book also had a little damage on one of the corners, but nothing major and it is very easy to miss. I’m not sure if this is Best Buy’s fault or not, due to the fact I’ve seen several of these online looking like this, but nonetheless it was disappointing. Other than that though, it is still totally worth it and I can’t recommend it enough.

I would like to write this review getting my Metroid fix through Best Buy. Obviously game and special edition are awesome and the special edition is well worth your money if can get. It is really surprising in terms of size and quality of box and artwork. Like some others I will be keeping as collectors item . I have seen some reviews complaining about the shipping and damaged items. I have had good and bad experiences with BB shipping and collectors items. But overall have been packaged with care and competency. The one time i had an actual problem with shipping damage I wrote review and let know of dissatisfaction and got next order delivered immaculately and even by 1st class shipping. This time I had 1st pre-ordered the Dark Samus amiibo for store pickup. And was able to order Special Edition and Dread Amiibo for pickup at same store after release since preorder had sold out. Long story short picked up all three and as can see all in great condition. Very pleased with overall experience. Shout out to my local store for always doing a very good job with store pickups. Will treasure for years to come.

Amazing game! Its MetroidVania style gameplay is awesome. Its the most challenging Metroid out there so be ready! Beautiful graphics & tight controls make this one shine, 9/10! It only took about 20 years to come out...

Firstly, this is more of a 4.5 star than a 4. The edition is amazing! However, they dont have any kind of protection on the box (not even plastic wrap), so many have dents and scratches on them. Mine have scratches in all four corners on the foil side. Pretty disappointing but it could’ve been worse compared to others I’ve seen. The art book and other goodies are super high quality. It’s just unfortunate they weren’t protected better by the manufacturer considering it’s a collectors edition. I still highly recommend getting one if you can find one! Please add a protective sleeve next time, Nintendo

Prepare Metroid fans…this is it! A great collection consisting of an awesome art book, steelbook, and packaging makes it a must own for a Metroid fan!

Amazing special edition. One of the best I have ever bought. The book is hard-cover! The photo on Best Buy makes it look like a paper-back, but it is indeed a hard-cover. The steelbook case is beautiful. Unfortanetly, the US version does not come with a regular switch case for the game, or atleast mine didn't. I don't care for it though as the steel-book is way better. I have not opened the artwork cards yet.

Even though it says digital in the title, it is the physical cartridge. The book is amazing as well as the Steelbook. If you have this or are having thoughts on getting the Special Edition, I highly recommend if you’re a big fan of Metroid.

This has been a wonderful Special Edition for this game. I really enjoyed the artbook the most from this.

Talk about collector's edition, this is truly a well thought and crafted piece of art...

The box seal indicates it has been opened. Even though the content aren't missing or damaged, it is very disappointing. Is best buy saleing a returned item as new? In addition, all four corners of the box is damaged because this item was shipped using a bubble envelope. Really. You can do better, best buy.

It’s a great game, very challenging, but fair overall (though you will absolutely have sweaty hands and moments of extreme frustration). The environment is great and the gameplay is so satisfying. As far as the bonuses in the special edition go, it’s a good package though overpriced overall…the “art cards” are nothing special whatsoever (blank on one side, even), and the art book is well made but there is very little content from prior Metroid games even though that was advertised as a selling point. The steel book is nice and so is the boxing, believe it or not. Great game overall and recommended for sure.

Metroid Dread is a monumental achievement. After taking a 20 year hiatus, Samus Aran is back to reclaim her throne of the Metroidvania genre. Some stellar games like Hollow Knight have come along since Metroid Fusion (the last new 2D Metroid entry), but Mercury Steam and Nintendo have proven that they are still the kings of the genre. Metroid Dread is incredible. The gameplay is tight and satisfying. You are discovering new abilities every 20 minutes. The sense of isolation and terror that eat away at you during this game will give you hair-raising moments of exhilaration that call back to an earlier time in gaming. However, that is not to say the game is archaic. Mercury Steam has made a modern game with the bells and whistles you'd expect of a 2021 game. There are new mechanics, abilities and quality of life updates that make for the smoothest Metroid experience ever made. Progression feels good, and as Samus grows more powerful, you, the player will feel more empowered. I can't say enough how well crafted this game is. As far as the Special Edition, the art book is nice. I wish it would delve deeper into the lore of Metroid Dread but I sense that they were trying to avoid spoilers. The art is still really impressive though. The art cards are decent and the steelbook itself looks strikingly beautiful. I wish it had an end-label though. Whatever, 10/10, buy it.

As a fan of this Series as a whole, this is an awesome bundle of goodies. The Artbook has a whole 'lot to offer on the design elements of the environments and enemies of the game, the Steelbook is solid and the game itself? It's definitely something the Metroid fans have been waiting for since Metroid Fusion released.

Many people were wondering if Nintendo could make a 'Metroidvania' (a genre which it helped create) in today's gaming climate, with great games that use the same formula (such as Hollow Knight) and with current trends pointing favoring fully 3D games with high graphical output and robust online multiplayer features. But, Nintendo has exceeded my, and almonst everyone else's, expecations with this game. A masterpiece of the genre and a worthy candidate for Game of the Year. As for this Special Edition: I was pleasently surprised how high quality it was. Nintendo clearly went all out with this release; a beatiful Steelbook, art cards, and a gorgeous hardcover art book packaged in a stunning (larger than I expected) box that features holographic and embossed artwork that really makes the colors and graphics pop. I'm extremely happy with my purchase. And, for what it's worth, my box was in good shape when I picked it up from Best Buy. The store employee even handled the box carefully, which wasn't requested but was appreciated.
