Customers love the ergonomic design, wrist rest, quiet keys, and reasonable price of the Ergonomic Full-size Wired Mechanical Keyboard. They find it comfortable to use and appreciate the tactile feel of the keys. While some users mention a learning curve and challenges with the split keyboard layout, the overall sentiment is positive.

Comfortable keyboard but letters rub off quickly.

I much prefer this type of split keyboard and they aren't always easy to find which is why I ordered this one before I even need to replace my current one. My biggest complaint, and the reason I took off one star, is because Microsoft keyboards are notorious for the letters wearing off quickly. I'm also sad that they did away with the zoom button that was in the open split area. But overall it is a very comfortable (for me) keyboard and works just fine.

Fortunately I was able to find a new device in a sealed factory carton. These are no longer being made. And it was on sale.

This keyboard is a great value for the price. The keys are a little clunky, but I’m no longer experiencing nerve pain, so it has accomplished what I needed it to!

I've been recently having carpal tunnel related pain, and while I do have wrist braces to help alleviate that pain, this keyboard worked wonders in helping to almost completely cut down on the pain altogether. The split section of the keyboard did throw me off a little at first, as my stupid touch typing self usually used my left hand to hit the Y key, but it was simple enough to relearn how to properly type again. As for the key press sounds, it's fairly quiet. All in all, this keyboard is amazing, and I fully intend to use it until it breaks down completely.

I've been using MS Ergo keyboards for years. This need edition holds up great. It is different than prior models - the controls in the middle of the palm rest are gone (Scroll Up/Down and lights).
The keys up top are a different style, but overall very easy to get used to. Also, the key "action" is a little softer, but I don't mind. Standard keyboards make me catch cramps after an hour or so of coding.
Also, on sale at the time I bought it - makes it a very good deal!

Microsoft office key ruins the kb

How many times does your palm or finger inadvertently land on the alt or control keys? I dunno, because it doesn’t cause any problems when you do. But this keyboard has a button right next to those that breaks you out of any other app and tries to open office 365, or since I don’t own that product, it is pretty much an advertisement for office 365. It would be one thing if the button was up on the top header row above the fn keys or something, but it’s right in the middle of where your fingers always are. Absolutely horrible to use. Will never buy a MS kb again while they have that button right there.

The heal pad is the perfect softness/firmness for comfortable all day typing. I do have to get used to the Function keys being so close and not separated by space. A very minor issue.
The elevated attachment was easy to install and it's quite comfortable. I have an older MS keyboard it this one is comparable. The Caps Lock key lights up with is a plus compared to an older wireless board.
I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a comfortable wired inexpensive keyboard.

My favorite ergo keyboard

This is the third Microsoft ergonomic keyboard i've owned. The only reason I've replaced the ones before it was because I'd worn the letters off and the rest of the family couldn't use it. These are well built and long lasting, Each one I've owned for several years before retiring it.
I have owned other brand ergos in the past that did not have the staying power or longevity I've gotten from the Microsoft branded Ergo keyboards.

Don't care for it

In trying to find a replacement for the wonderful previous version of the Microsoft Ergonomic keyboard that has been discontinued, I decided to try this...and I don't like it.
It's somewhat comparable but smaller. The keys are soft touch, which I don't care for, rather than the "noisier" keys of the older style. The caps lock light has been moved from the middle bottom of the Microsoft 4000 to the left side of the keyboard, hidden by your hand. The smaller format of the keyboard will take a little time for your muscle memory to adjust to.
The worst part is that the back (top) of the keyboard no longer has the little feet to tilt it up. It can sit flat or tilted away from you. That's not working for me ergonomically. It's painful, at least for me.
Overall, it's aesthetically a nice board but I don't like it and won't use it for anything other than a back-up, and my search continues. I have no idea why Microsoft discontinued the old professional ergonomic keyboard but I'm definitely not happy about it. I'm a 20+ year professional transcriptionist and that was the perfect board for me. This new version is a big disappointment.
