Such a great pair of cans, great noise cancelling, USB-C, good sound... and easy switch between multiple devices. No it's not the best noise cancelling (Bose QC35), no it's not the best sound (Sony 1000xm3), and no it's not the cheapest. But I owned a pair of Sony and Bose noise cancelling headphones, and I'd rather have the Microsoft ones any day. I had a real preference for the Sony headphones, but the simple fact that I can't connect and easily switch between multiple devices made me returned them. The surface headphones are relatively light, sound great and perform very well. I'm very happy with this purchase. I use them every day at the office and I can't wait to try them on the plane.

Even though these are sold out in most places, I believe a lot of this feedback applies to the second generation and is even improved upon from what I hear. The dials are the best feature on these headphones, hands-down. It's a simple and elegant way to control the sound and noise-cancelling. Surface hardware generally has stellar design and this is no exception. In the WFH age the physical mute button is a welcome addition as well. Battery life isn't up there with Sony and Bose but hasn't bothered me in the slightest: I use these for 8+ hours a day, and I only have to charge them once every few days. I've thoroughly enjoyed using these headphones and anticipate that I will continue to enjoy them for many years.

I bought this product to compare it with other noise cancellation headphones that I own. I was thinking I will return it quickly as the Bose and Sony have better quality. To my surprise, I ordered the second one. This one has the best noise cancellation and it pairs with my iPhone and Android phone at the same time and flawlessly.

I love these headphones! Easy to connect, simple to use, comfortable, and they sound awesome. The noise cancelling feature works great. Both the headphones and the included case are very stylish and well built. You can expect about 15 hours of battery life, a little more if you turn off the Cortana feature. Charging takes a couple of hours but you can use them with the included cable without battery power if you need to. Tip: When you first start to use the headphones, open the Cortana app and adjust the EQ to your liking. The initial sound was very flat until I personalized the settings. Not a big deal but the software updates take forever to install. Plan on updating them when you're not going to use them for at least a couple of hours. The good thing is features are often added so be sure to keep them up to date. Overall, I'm very happy with the Surface Headphones. I bought them for $249 on sale and they're definitely worth what I paid. I think the regular price of $349 is a stretch, only because there are so many other great options at that price range.

Comfort - 10/10. These headphones are a lot more plush and comfortable than either Bose or Sony, especially around the edged of my ears and top of my head. This is the most important to me because I wear these on my work commute, at work, and at home. Headphones are only as good as how comfortable they are. Sony and Bose became uncomfortable after ~2 hours. Sound Quality - 8/10. They do not sound as good as the Sonys, especially highs, but they are more than enough for 99% of us and still sound great. Noise Cancellation - 7/10. I was concerned with the quality of the noise cancelling of these headphones at first, because they are not as good as the Sonys (10/10 here), but roughly equivalent to the Bose and still perform great. Usability - 10/10. The rotating physical dials+gesture pad are the greatest idea ever! They are more useful than I expected. Side note, the Sony's gesture pad would constantly be triggered in the cold Chicago climate (30 degrees and below) Style - 9/10. I love the color and material choice. Battery Life - 7/10. I hear a lot of reviews saying the battery life is very poor, but the 15 hours has been pretty accurate, and the headphones read out the remaining battery life every time you power them on. Overall, these headphones are the most comfortable at the $350 price point, and that is the most important factor to me. The rotary dials are super helpful, and noise cancellation is great. Sound quality is also great, and I much prefer these over any of the competition after personally testing the Bose and Sony's.

These are the best wireless over ear headphones I could find. Charging via USB-C was a must. These sound good and the battery lasts a pretty long time. Cons are they don't visually look very beautiful and I wish they were a bit smaller.

I've used these headphones for about a month. The best part about them is the design. Not sure any other high-end NC phones feature a design as good as these. The spinners on the phones adjust noise cancellation and volume and are just perfect. Bluetooth connection is good. It's using BT 4.2, not 5. So, it can be hazy sometimes (maybe once or twice in the month of using them daily). USB-C charging is nice. Comfort is acceptable for long periods of time. They will connect to 2 devices at a time, which can be convenient. (pause music on my computer to answer a call coming in on my phone without having to repair), but it can also be a bit annoying if you're using both devices simultaneously. Overall, I'd say these are good headphones. Maybe not worth the $350, but at $275, I'd buy them again.

Not a big audio persons , so I can't really give any advice for sound quality, but they sound good to me. It's light wight enough that it dose not hurt my head to much after hours of use. The cups are very soft, along with being able to fit all the way around my ear. The physical nob for volume controls is awesome. Sometime just tilting my head a little kicks the auto pals, or just browsing the web will turn off thinking its not in use. The cup around my ear is so good that it feels like a vacume. Walking with them on is not bad but notisable.

Overall, I am glad I got these headphones. They are very comfortable and allow you to tune the amount of noise cancellation you are using. I think they also have an auto mute feature when you take the head phones off. They have very good battery life. They last me all day long, and I take business and personal calls using them and the built in microphone is great! They lay flat and come with a case so I can throw them in my laptop bag and not worry about damaging them. The main negative I have is that I have to install Cortana on my Android phone to be able to use these head phones.

Goods: excellent noise cancelling, great sound quality for Bluetooth, comfortable, charges with usbC, excellent battery life. My wife insists on a noise cancelling machine for our eight month old son who sleeps in the same room as us. This keeps me from going insane most nights. Bads: connection fidgety at time. This is my third unit cuz the previous two were defective after a while. Loud high pitch sounds that wouldn't even go away when turned off. Microsoft didn't find the best of people to produce these.

I had these for over a month now and here are Pros: Comfortable to wear for long hours Cortana Integration Tap functionality to pause/skip External sound amplification when needed so you can hear without removing headphones Rotary dials to increase/decrease volume Cons Too wide If you doze off with the headphones you accidentally invoke the tap functionality if your hand or other object touches the external surface causing pauses in playback. Sound not the best for the price paid. Bose still beats it and has a simmer profile

Overall, these headphones are pretty good, especially for Microsoft's first try. They don't have as good of noise cancellation as Sony's offering, but their ability to connect to two devices at one is great. The overall design is good as well, it feels good in the hands and does not look cheap. However, I do wish it came in different colors. The sound quality is good, and you are able to make some modifications with the cortana app. The noise cancellation itself is very good as well, of course some sound will leak through but it does a great job for the most part. The dials on both sides to adjust the level of noise cancellation and volume work as intended and are better than trying to find buttons on the sides. I did find that the touch sensitive area to play and pause music can be kind of finicky. In addition to this, the headphone's ability to automatically pause music when you take them off only works sometimes for me. The weakest part about these headphones are the battery life, which is around 15 hours. Considering sony's headphones last 30 hours, this is a real downgrade. However, if these headphones are on sale then I would definitely recommend them, but if you're going to be spending 350 dollars you might as well go for the Sonys.

These headphones are amazing. I got them the moment they became available, and have used them ever since. I have the Surface Headphones paired to my PC and phone, and the experience is amazing. I could be watching something on my PC, and all of a sudden get a phone call, and all I have to do is just tap the earcup to answer. Plus, the overall user experience on the headphones is amazing. From the moment you turn it on, and have Cortana greet you with the amount of hours of battery you have left, to answering calls and just adjusting volume and noise cancellation, it's amazing. Whenever I have a conference call as well, the built-in mute button is a welcome feature, as well as the auto-pause at removal. Plus, these headphones support a headphone jack! Overall, the Surface Headphones are an amazing product from Microsoft, and I highly recommend them to anyone who needs powerful, feature-rich headphones for all around use.

I use different sets of headphones for a combined 8 to 12 hours a day. I wish I could merge 2 sets together. Then I think I would have the perfect set. But I digress, here's what I like/love about these though.. I love the look and feel of these headphones. Noise cancellation is really nice. Love the play/pause/next/last, volume control and noise cancellation control. Works really good on phone calls. Good battery life. What I'm not really a fan of.. Not really a fan of the music sound quality. A little too base heavy and no ability to change it. When you click on the p/p/n/l the headphone has a crunch sound like it's cheap quality. I would expect better quality from $350 headphones. Overall I like these better thank the Sony h1000 and b&o h9i.. the sound quality is way better on those sets but that's it in my opinion..

Falls short. Wished I had waited

I am somewhat disappointed that just a hair over a month after buying these that Microsoft sends me an email that the 2nd gen was being released. All indications were that these were going to be a late fall release. I would have waited a month for the next gen. But just so there isn't any doubt that my review isn't tainted by such disappointment, I do have legitimate gripes about these headphones. I do have to give Microsoft credit for designing such a nice unit. It is very comfortable to wear and the padding didn't hurt my ears or make me break out in a sweat after hours of continuous use. I have used them for four hours at a time while doing yard work and the comfort never waned. The weight was not really noticeable to me either. However, the features are where I feel there was little to be desired. Noise canceling. It's alright, but I've heard better. I have a cheap pair of Altec Lansing's that cancel out mower noise better than these. Adjusting the noise canceling levels is nice, but I don't think they go far enough, and really one question...Why would Microsoft choose to use the mic's to amplify ambient noise when noise canceling is turned off?!?! When I put muff's on I expect that ambient noise is going to be muffled/muted. I don't need that amplified for me. This is the first pair of noise canceling headphones I have owned that do that. Wearing them outside on a windy day...don't do it. Even with noise canceling turned on it felt like the microphones were picking up the wind and blowing it back in my ears. Talking to someone outside with a little wind...no good either. I didn't get any complaints from the other end, but I had a hard enough time hearing the person because of amplified wind noise that I had to end the call. Ergonomics. Like I said...very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. Button placement is very intuitive and the dial controls are a very nice touch. However, the tapping feature seems to be quirky. I had trouble many times getting them to respond to my finger taps, then when working in the yard if a tree branch brushed against them it would actually skip, or whatever, as if I tapped it (eye roll). My neck is a little on the large side so, for me, they weren't very comfortable to hang around my neck for long when I wasn't using them. Connectivity. I wasn't exactly wild about using a separate app to control these, but it grew on me. There were some reviews here about sound quality. I never really had that issue. If you do I highly recommend using the Cortona app to tweak the equalizer settings. Makes all the difference! I have had multiple issues with Bluetooth connectivity. It says you can pair with up to 8 devices (I think). I have it paired to three and have all kinds of issues with that. It's like they have a mind of their own as to which device it wants to connect to. One is my Apple watch. I never really use it for that, but wanted to see if it would work. I can be in the same room with all 3 devices and it will randomly drop one and pick up the other and it's torture to get it back. If I was connected to 2 devices at once and audio came through on one it would drop it for the other. I would have to recycle power to get it back again. And yes...I have done a reset and applied the latest firmware...I have been in IT for 30 years. Power. I have never had a desire to use headphones for 15 hours, and am pretty diligent about putting them on the charger when they start dipping below 50% or 40%. So battery life seems like a negligible issue to me. However, I am a little concerned that after charging for more than enough time that sometimes it says 14 hours left and other times 15, when I know they have been charged long enough for a full charge. So I am a little concerned that the overall lifespan of the battery is starting to shorten. Overall, these weren't a terrible set of headphones, but my advice to anyone considering these is definitely pass on the 1st gen. That's a typical mantra in IT. I have owned 3 generations of Surface Pro's (from gen 1) and now a Surface book. I thought they were a hit right out of the gate and had high hopes that these would be as well. So I am left a little disappointed after my success with the other Surface products, especially at this price point. Hope they get it closer to perfection next time around.

This headphones have decent natural sound quality, not booming bass or boosting effect like other $300 -$400 price point headphones on the market. The noise cancelling on the other hand is fantastic in a sense that the unwanted noise became softer like library atmosphere. You can adjust the amount of noise cancelling as well as music volume with the dial rings on ear cups. No buttons to adjust. Tapping on the cup will activate either Cortana or Siri depends on which platform that you are connecting to at the time. Bluetooth pairing is extremely easy to my Windows 10 laptop as well as on iPad. Just turn it on the first time and whichever device closet will connect. The longest I wore the headphones is about two hours and it was comfortable enough to not feel weighing my head down. Good headphones in my opinion. No flashy but works

Got these because I have roommates. When I have them on with music playing I can't hear anything! Very comfortable and love the way they look. Sound quality is excellent. Also, the fact that they can pair with multiple devices at once is a huge selling point for me. I switch between my PC and Surface Pro quite a bit and being able to easily use them with both PLUS my iPhone without having to pair them is awesome. They were too expensive before but got them on sale--well worth it.
