If you're looking for a new laptop, that can REALLY work as a portable tablet (not just turn the screen 360 degrees, but actually be light and portable), look no further. The surface pro 3 is a great device, and this particular model (256GB, i7 processor) provides a great performance. Windows 10 is also very good, improving the experience as a whole. Personnaly, I had a problem with mine - after some investigation, Microsoft advised that the the internal battery (the small one, not the one you use to keep your device running without a power cord) died way sooner than expected. This made the clock on Windows to always be late - not a huge deal, but it was annoying to keep on refreshing the time/date everytime I turned on the surface. Microsoft fell short on the experience of replacing the surface, so I ended up returnin it to BestBuy - who in the other hand, did an awesome post-sales support. One more thing - this is a pricey device, and Microsoft is on the edge of announcing the new model (surface pro 4). Take this into consideration before buying ;)

The Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is a very good tablet. When coupled with the Type Cover it has the ability to make a very good mobile platform. I think that Microsoft has done a very good job with this device and the Windows 10 OS is finally coming around. The hardware is very responsive and I do not find myself waiting for the Surface Pro to complete a task. I think this is attributed to the Intel i7 and 8GB of RAM that is in the model that I purchased. I don't know how well the 4GB models stand up to the applications of today. I was a little worried that 8GB would be outstripped once the Surface Pro 4 was released. On that note, it is nice to see a 16GB option on the Surface Pro 4. The display is great. It's one of the best I have had the pleasure to use. The only reason there isn't 5 stars on this is for the type cover to be used you need a flat surface to put the Surface Pro 3 onto. It would be nice to be able to use the Type Cover on your lap but it is a Tablet first and foremost.

The Surface Pro is a solid tablet and I am pleased with the performance so far. I have owned it for a little over one month now. The one item of caution for others planning on purchasing a Surface Pro 3 model is to be aware that the i7 models tend to warm up a bit since the processor is very powerful. This is something we noticed on the Pro 3 with an i7 processor that we bought and a couple of representatives said they noticed the same thing on their exact same model. For this reason, if you don't need the power of the i7, and you want to stick to the Surface Pro 3, you may consider downgrading to the i5. PS: it is worth getting the Surface Pro 4 since it works in a much more fluid manner than the Surface Pro 3 keyboard. Good thing is the accessories for the Surface Pro 4 are all backwards compatible with the Surface Pro 3.

This tablet's is the best of the best for studying. I fell in love with the tablet the first month because it's because of that voice tool, you can mark your notes, power points, and the internet. After second month of using the tablet the batteries have been draining down really fast within an hour. I didn't like that it makes loud fan noises and heats up. It's a killer to study with it because the battery dies really fast and it keeps heating up. It killed my vibe to use it. It says that the tablet's a core i7. I works far slower than my 499$ Acer laptop. I'd prefer a Mac, but in hopes that the tablet pro 4 doesn't do the same. I'm planning to switch to the pro 4 or surface book. If I dislike it I'll give my review about it in two months. I wouldn't recommend the tablet unless you want to keep the charger in the outlet majority of the time when you use it.

Great machine for a good price. Beats the Surface Book in every single way, especially the hundreds of dollars for price. It's mind boggling. Some large criticisms, the touchpad is terrible, and it's easy to accidentally touch the keyboard while typing and end up erasing everything you've typed. This is incredibly, obscenely frustrating. While the touchpad isn't getting any smarter, the OS is, and is also filling with ads. Yes, non-opt-out, mandatory advertisements for Windows. Keyboard is small and hard to get used to. It makes a great tablet, but a terribly overpriced laptop that sadly sacrifices form for function, and barely delivers with form alone.

I confess, I dropped my Surface Pro but never expected it to shatter (fell 2 feet onto carpet). The only repair available was through Microsoft and $340 exchange (no one will fix glass, its glued on). My new/used Surface Pro flipped over onto table and shattered the glass again (not 2 inches from the table), Microsoft now wants $450 to exchange (must be a problem). I've used my iPad for 4 years, never broke the glass. DO NOT BUY!!!! I've invested over $1500 and have nothing to show for it, I won't spend another $450 for a defective product, which Microsoft will not warranty. If you are foolish enough to give Surface Pro a try, BUY EXTENDED WARRANTY you'll need it....

If you want the user friendliness of a tablet and the practicality of a laptop then this is the best machine on the market. In addition to a really professional machine the keyboard is excellant. If you are used to doing a lot of word processing you won't be disappointed. The one caveat is when I purchased an after market mini display to HDMI cable in order to hook up my Surface to a larger screen - i use for my home office - i noticed i lost the touch abilities of the tablet. I am unsure whether this is inique to my set up. I wkuld be dissappointed idf i learn that this isn't an isolated occurance. This type of glitch is definitely something that should have been picked up in Beta testing!

In the simplest of terms. I purchased the Pro 3 instead of another ultra light laptop. My intent was to go home and port over my existing data from current laptop and begin using right away as my primary business computer. I learned rather quickly that there were trade offs and to truly offer a A to A comparison with a full laptop, I needed to buy the Surface dock, an extra expense for an expensive product. BUT after having the Surface and the dock now for several weeks, I can honestly say it was a great purchase. The hardward is excellent, the price is extreme compared to alternatives, but in the end, I am very happy and highly recommend.

I love this so far! I was issued an iPad through work and it did not run the windows based programs I needed. My home computer was an old HP laptop I was sure was about to die. I also had an ASUS transformer but there just wasn't enough memory on it. This has completely replaced all 3. My wifi printer works flawlessly with it. Does everything I need and battery lasts a whole work day, sometime 2. Charges quickly. Very light. Overall I'm very happy with it.

I bought one last year, but dropped and shattered it. Instead of repairing it, I found one on clearance (due to the release of Surface Pro 4), the choice was clear. I use it for spreadsheets, photo and video editing and design work. It runs everything effortlessly. More convenient than a laptop, more versatile than a tablet. Highly recommend. I suggest getting the Bluetooth keyboard and the docking station. With the latter, I run 3 monitors effortlessly.

I am very impressed with my surface pro3, I bought it to replace my 7 year old laptop thinking that it would get me by until I could get another laptop then just use it as a tablet. I have changed my mind about getting another laptop. The ease of use with the surface has been great it handles everything I need to do better then my old laptop, which when bought was a gaming laptop. The main reason for upgrading was its video card wouldn't support windows 10.

I have been extremely happy with the Surface Pro 3. It is ideal for taking notes in class. You can upload PowerPoint Slides onto the surface and take notes directly onto the slides with the stylus. Great for anatomy/biology courses where you need to point out structures on hard to see slide pictures. I have also watched movies on the Surface Pro and am very pleased with the video and audio quality. Very happy with the purchase

My husband and I both got these and they are great for our needs. It is so lightweight my husband who has a muscle disease can maneuver it easily. For me it’s easy to travel with. It works well and we can put a lot of files on it. It’s also convenient to be able to remove the keyboard. I highly recommend this computer.

I purchased this so I could access work computers from home. I am an Apple person. This works as good as by Ipad for a tablet but is highly functional as a laptop for work duties that required Windows operating system. The boot up time is fast due to flash memory. My only complaint. It is not compatible with Disney Anywhere movie service.

The surface pro 3 gets extremely hot and those fans are annoying. My screen would flicker greenish blobs at times as well I had a bad device and I wasn't satisfied with the heating. The 4 doesn't get as hot and handles more. These kind of purchases are investments get the newer model as they are more current with newest technology

Great product! Really happy with the quick and easy set up. Running Windows 10 and i couldn't be happier. I had a small issue with a driver for my docking station, but once that was resolved it has been smooth sailing ever since. I travel a lot and am typically in and out of meetings. This is perfect whether I want a laptop or a tablet.

The hardware seems solid and responsive. My only issues so far are with the on-screen keyboard. Most touch-based platforms bring up a keyoard when you touch a text input field. This OS makes you manually bring up the keyboard. It's a bit annoying but livable.

The machine has been great so far but I rate it one star less because of the sensitivity level of the touchscreen where sometimes it is too sensitive and sometimes my touch is not detected at all. Don't know if my internet connection has something to do with it, but regardless, it takes some getting used to.

Won't shut down. Won't respond to any inputs. Screen is dark. Fan is running. No access to battery - so can't do a reboot by depriving power. Technology is wonderful until it doesn't work. Tablet was working great until it just stopped working. Also don't like the Xbox link - what a pain!!
