This game is awesome for both Lord of the Rings die hards and gamers alike. If you're both, it's a must own. It has a compelling story, great characters, amazing combat system, and an enemy system that will have you hooked. It's a must own!

If you love lord of the rings, this is the BEST game they have put out. This game is a mix between Assasins creed, Batman Arkham series, and the most gruesome game you can think of. It is an open world game where you can climb, sneak, and murder everyone just like in the game assassins creed. If you have played any of the batman arkham series, the mechanics in this game are similar, which is awesome. Well timed pushes of buttons create combos that make for a smooth battle between you and hundreds of orcs. Along with a good story, chopping off heads, stabbing orcs in the face, its no wonder why this game won game of the year on plenty of websites.

I bought this as "filler" between the next Destiny expansion and SW Battlefront...easily the best filler I've ever played. Great combat mechanic and the story is fantastic. You'll spend so much time hunting down captains and dispatching them in nasty ways that you'll forget about the story missions. Really a great free-world game that's not too big. When the GOTY edition goes for $20-ish these days, it's a great pickup and an easy recommendation.

Shadow of Mordor is an engaging game with innovative combat gameplay. As you progress you get new abilities to combat enemies. The nemesis system is also intriguing because it shows you the power structure of the enemy, allow you to collect intel on the enemy and use the intel to plan your attack taking into account the enemy's strength and weaknesses. Overall a fantastic game, solid story and GOTY is an overall great value.

if you are a fan of lord of the rings you will enjoy the storyline of this game. it has great action, fun missions and the nemesis system is a great tool to keep the gameplay fun and ever evolving.

I read many online user reviews of this game at Best Buy, Amazon, Game Stop & professional reviews at IGN, GaneSpot & more. Most user reviews & professional reviews were very favorable. I agree with the very favorable reviews. Gameplay is a bit challenging in the beginning until you start getting rewards for upgrading your powers & weapons. Upgrading your combat moves & weapons make the game more interesting & fun & increase your ability to take on tougher Uruk Captains & larger hordes of Uruks. Combat is similar to Batman Arkum Night but somewhat easier to use. Visuals are very good in general. The game does get a bit repetitive, but most games do at some point. But the game is fun & definitely worth the sale price I paid at $29.99, especially with the Game of the Year edition with all of the added content.

I doubted that this game would be anything new. My shelves are already full of button-mashers and the Lord of the Rings story line has been washed, rinsed, and repeated for years now. I only picked up the GoY edition because it was on sale. But, while the gameplay resembles other games (it's very similar to Assasins Creed), the nemesis system sets this game apart. The plotline and side missions constantly evolve as you kill off enemies or are killed yourself. It, and the amazing scenery, make this a particularly engrossing game.

Turns out, one CAN simply walk into Mordor and kick some serious tail in the process. One of the best PS4 titles to date. Even if you're not into Lord of the Rings/Middle Earth, this game can stand alone and is a top notch sandbox. You'll learn some LOTR lore and the controls are a tad tricky at first but everything in this game just works.

I am late to this game by a number of years, and have only really played Skyrim and Destiny 1 & 2 on ps4. I am so glad of this last minute purchase using my rewards zone gift certificates. Gameplay is awesome, as is the original story, and I love the limited, but satisfying upgrade trees in the game.

Being a fan of open world games and lord of the rings I figured this purchase was a no brainer. The game plays a lot like an Assasin's creed game with the combat system of the Arkham games with open world gameplay, not to say that's a bad thing. Thinking about buying another copy to gift to a friend when the price is right.

The story is fantastic. The free flowing combat and mechanics of the game are great and easy to learn. I extremely enjoyed my time playing this game. The game will hook you from the brief and shocking opening scene. A must have game if you are an open world action-adventure game player.

After purchasing this game I now Know and understand why it was voted GOTY! Honestly, it is one of the best games I've ever played. I love the story and the attention to detail in the gameplay. Absolutely phenomenal job on the game and I got it for a better price at Best Buy than I could get it anywhere else!

I read a lot of reviews before taking the plunge on this game - I haven't been disappointed. The story is compelling from the opening scene and you have a wide range of activities and places to explore. I love the non-linear gameplay and the intuitive controls. One knock is that the missions can get a bit repetitive but all in all this is a solid game.

Pretty awesome game. It's equal parts Arkham City and Assassin's Creed, but set in Middle Earth. Even if you only like 2/3 of those things, check this game out. Also, it's not $100 for the full game (plus micro transactions).

I loved this game at launch. To get ready for Shadow Of War I picked this up since I never played any of the DLC. One of the best Middle Earth games. The Nemesis system is a great system for developing enemies.

The highlight of this game is definitely the gameplay. The graphics and music are fantastic as well. The story is enjoyable, but the gameplay is what you're really after. Great game! Includes all the DLC as well, which is a plus.

The combat is pretty cool. Reminds me of Batman's. The open world with surprise encounters of ranked offices in the nemesis system is interesting. Overall I believe this game made game of the year for a reason.

This game rocks! From the story to the game play! You can upgrade your character as you progress and learn new attacks and finishing moves. One of the best games I've ever played!!

I love this game. It is very open world and there is a lot explore and do. Taking down an Orc captain or chief in different ways is very satisfying! I could play it for hours!
