    Enjoying my Misfit Shine

After reading reviews on several sites about multiple trackers, we ran into someone who owned one (actually she owns several!). Her glowing praise about the Shine sold us, and we haven't looked back since! The down sides: Although I'm thrilled that the Shine is waterproof (one of the main features I wanted in a tracker), the rubbery wristband WILL let the Shine fall out of it when you're splashing around in a pool or hot tub. It must lose elasticity temporarily. I haven't had a problem outside of the water. When mine fell out in a pool, we picked it up and the face was scratched up, which seems fairly easy to do, actually. (Picture included) Other than those two physical flaws, the Shine syncs great with my iPhone Misfit app (although it needs to be prompted to, and I wish it would be automatic). It also syncs well with MyFitnessPal app. (My friend claims hers doesn't sync as easily with her Android phone, however, although it does sync.) This little gadget is comfortable and easy to sleep with on. Also, I didn't think I'd use the clock feature much, but I find myself using it I constantly now! Plus, I'm a minimalist, so the Shine's simplistic face and pretty lights are right up my alley. A tracker is great in general because it keeps you motivated to reach your goals. The Shine has settings so you can set.your goals (either points or steps or both). I enjoy the sleep tracker, too. It is pretty accurate, which surprised me. My friends and I all got the Shine and compete with each other throughout the day. It's a great motivator for that reason, too.

On the price point, I'll be fair, the 99.95 is too expensive but I got it for 75 by price match from Dell so it made it worthwhile to choose this over the flash. Both are the same, feature wise but the all metal body is worth the extra cost for durability purposes. I'm an active individual and while I didn't purchase this for its activities tracking it does a decent job in that respect. I use it for the general sleep quality features to supplement the data that is collected by mapmyfitness and my Motoactv and Moto360. The accuracy for step counting is on par with the motoactv, usually within 20 or so steps. Not quite as accurate with activities as my suunto though, Not bad. It can also be used as a stride sensor in mapmyfitness, just remember to link it to your shoe. Stylish if worn like a watch and small profile. Nice options for wearing it and up to 4 months battery life is great. It's simple and easy to use. However! Be aware that if you are on Android, this product is a little more stubborn than others to sync, no problems on iOS 8 though. One last thing, if you link this to mapmyfitness, it has to be done in the misfit app and don't expect the sleep data to be uploaded to the mapmyfitness 24/7 page as it seems to have issues syncing and doesn't show in the options as a device yet. Now, this could be different on iOS due to mapmyfitness having the 24/7 feature on the iOS version of the software.

The things I really like about the MisFit Shine are as follows: 1. It looks cool and I frequently receive compliments 2. It is awesome not having to constantly recharge the battery like you do with most other fitness trackers. As a result, you can wear this 24 hours a day (even in the shower as it is waterproof) and it will track all of your steps. 3. The watch feature is nice and the display is pretty cool. The Bad: 1. The MisFit Shine does not synch automatically to your phone. You must manually activate the synch and hold it close to your phone while it links up. This is not a major inconvenience but other activity trackers typically have auto synch. 2. The dial only shows LEDs that show your progress to your goal. It doesn't actually show you how many steps you have taken. To find this and other bits of information you must synch to your phone and view the data on your phones app. Again, not a major inconvenience but there are times it would be nice to know just by looking at the tracker.

I love my Shine! PROS: surprisingly lightweight, waterproof!!!, cool & stylish looking, accurate, interfaces with iPhone well CONS FOR ME: hard to see lights in daylight POSSIBLE CONS FOR OTHERS: doesn't display specific data on device itself, no GPS (so no map of activity), app could be better, tap-to-display doesn't always work on the first try I researched, looked at, asked others about, tried on, and otherwise considered every available fitness tracker on the market, every brand I could find, from the most basic pedometers all the way up to smart watches (e.g., Apple Watch, Samsung Gear, etc.). I couldn't be happier with my final decision to purchase the Shine. Whether I'm wearing it on my wrist (with the included band) or on my shirt/bathing suit, pocket (using the included magnetic "clip"), I don't even notice that it's there—until somebody gets curious about the cool-looking thing I'm wearing and asks me what it is. Sometimes I forget about it and forget to sync it with my phone for a few days. Once I went a whole week. I was afraid it wouldn't sync all the way back to my previous sync, but it did. This is the perfect option if you're looking for what I was looking for: A wearable but unobtrusive and attractive device that would track my steps/activity and sync with an iPhone app so I could see the data later. I have no need whatsoever to be able to look at my wrist and see how many steps I've gone. I just want to check at the end of every day, or at the end of a walk or a bike ride or whatever. This won't be best for everyone, but it's perfect for me!

I bought this when I lost my Fitbit Zip (found it later in a jacket pocket). It performs the same as the Fitbit Zip, but tracks sleep as well as steps - so I thought it would be a good replacement. Pros - Sleep tracking, pretty accurate step tracking, can be worn in several different places (wrist, pocket, neck, etc), attractive, decent mobile app. Cons - Doesn't sync automatically with the phone!! I was always worried it would come out of it's holder. The SUPER magnetic holder will stick itself to things if you get to close. I had it on my pocket when I slid next to a closely parked car and it jumped from my pocket to the car! And, eventually, this is how I lost the Misfit shine. It was clipped on my pocket when I went into the grocery store, and not when I came out. I'm sure it is firmly attached to a metal shelf somewhere in there, co-horting with the cereal and pop tarts.

This is a very unobtrusive piece of electronics that you can hardly tell its there. Has the option to be worn anywhere you choose. As a necklace a watch, put it in your socks... If you find a place, you can put it there. It tracks your sleep and your steps, calories burned during the day. Goes underwater (though I have not tried it) and I think its the greatest thing since sliced bread. My only complaints are software related. It has an app for Android, IOS and Windows. Syncs through bluetooth. However the application is not consistent throughout all devices. On Windows you enter your weight everyday and it keeps a Graph, it does not do this on Android. The software is most complete in IOS. You can even get your battery status. A thing that is not present in Android. You cannot access reports, outside of your phone screen and there is no web based tracking system where I can view my progress, or lack there of, on my computer. This is my first step monitor, so I cannot compare with others like fitbit. What I do like: * It has accessories and you can interchange, its woman friendly and pretty. Comes in many colors. Swarovski has designed a new line around it that is compatible with the shine. * Battery lasts 6 months. NO changing, just change it when its depleted. * Unless you have one, you won't know what the heck it is. Looks like jewelry (depends on color and how you wear it). * Works with different operating systems * syncs via Bluetooth If I the app was more consistent across platforms (I use all) and I was able to export or print a report that I could actually analyze (tangible) I would give it device 5 starts. Until then, it will have to suffice with 4.

I got the Shine for several reasons - waterproof (I never take it off to shower or swim), wanted to track daily activity outside of the gym, and really wanted something to try to keep me motivated. It succeeds for all three. The app works great, and allowed me to set my goal...I found my target after a couple days of experimenting. Gotta say I love seeing the "party lights" when I've hit my goal. The only odd thing is that it will occasionally (though rarely) only show a single dot even though I know I've been way more active. However this is easily corrected with a quick sync with the app - in other words it is still working even though it doesn't appear to be. Never had a problem with the unit popping out of the rubber wrist band and I'm pretty active...not sure what people who complain about that are doing. Also, though it does have a time function, it's only accurate to the nearest 5 minutes rounding up or down - great for getting a general idea of the time, but certainly not intended to replace a wristwatch. But, not really an issue for me since I mostly use my phone to check the time anyway. Apparently there are also several neat accessories for wearing them (necklace, steel mesh bands) that are available directly through Misfit. They look cool, but I haven't purchased any - I just haven't felt compelled to yet since the rubber bracelet is working fine for now. Since I've only had it for about 6 weeks I can't say how long the battery lasts, though so far it's still going strong. If you're looking for an activity tracker that's waterproof (great for swimmers) and looks better (IMHO), you'd be hard-pressed to find anything comparable that's a better value feature for feature.

This product was recommended by a Best buy associate. I love the product, it is waterproof so you never have to take it off. It easily tracks your workout and sleeping pattern, which was my major reason to purchase the device. The phone app is great and easy to install. the only use that I had was the basic band that the device comes with. Within two months I lost the device despite the fact that I purchased the brightest color device (coral). I would buy this again but I would update the band to one of the leather bands that holds the device better than the elastic band.

Love the misfit shine! It's very accurate and tracks my activity well! Love not having to charge it! Big plus in my book! Only issue is sometime the device doesn't show my activity correctly but that is fixed by a quick sync. Like to be able to wear multiple places and even though I haven't yet I live that you can actually swim with it being water resistant to 150 feet! Great little device and don't notice I'm wearing it. Better than my nike fuel band SE

I originally bought a Misfit Flash as a Christmas gift for my son, but he had asked for a Fitbit and we wanted to give him what he asked for so I decided that I would keep the Flash since it was so affordable. Soon after my wife saw how much fun we were having competing with each other that she decided that she too wanted a fitness tracker. After looking at the accessories for the Misfit Shine and hearing what my son and I liked about our trackers, she decided to get a shine. Which meant that I also got to upgrade to a Shine as well. First of all, the Shine is an attractive piece of kit with its aircraft grade aluminum with laser cut lights. It also has some nice watch like bands that can be purchased seperately. For the ladies, and this really got my wife's attention, they are coming out with Swarovski branded bands and slake bracelets (I only know what a slake bracelet is because I pre-ordered one for my wife). Second is that the Shine is maintenance free. No recharging! Let me repeat that for those of you who don't know how much of a bummer it is when your fitness tracker dies unexeptedly. NO RECHARGING! Third, the Shine comes with a band AND a clip. Surprisingly, a lot of fitness trackers don't include a clip...In fact, some don't even offer clips... I'm looking at you Fitbit Flex! Okay, so here is why it didn't get 5 stars. It doesn't vibrate. I can live without it, but it would be nice. The other issue is that the app is merely adequate. Other apps (and yes, by this I mean Fitbit) have more detailed and informative apps. Again though, even for the better app, I would not choose another tracker. I guess the best endorsement came from my teenage son who said he would have rathered the Misfit Shine if he had only known about it! Oh, one last endorsement. I even bought one of these for my 60 year old mom (yes, she actually asked for it)!

I wear mine everywhere. It's always attached somewhere on my body. I normally wear it in a wrist band. But, the included magnetic clasp can attach on virtually any piece of clothing. It also works if carried in a pocket. This isn't an option for me when I work because I carry too much junk there. It is amazing how accurate this thing is. I was especially surprised how well it tracks sleep. I have a separate more expensive sleep sensor in my bed. The Shine seems to record almost the exact same sleep time BUT it even recognizes my sleep when I nod off on the sofa. What drew me to this unit over other activity trackers is the fact that it uses a disposable battery that doesn't need charging. I've had mine for just over a month. When it syncs to your phone it shows the battery level and it still shows as full. Time will tell just how long it lasts - I have seen other reviews that say 4 to 6 months - we'll see. You can't get as much feedback from this between syncs as some of the other trackers. All you can see is progress toward your daily goal represented as lights on a dial (which can be hard to see in broad daylight.) But, this is all I need. If I'm nearing the end of a workout, a quick check of my Shine will tell me if I should push on for a few extra minutes or miles.

Waterproof, activity tracking and sleep tracking. The only con is that the band it comes with is not fitted well enough to keep it mounted. It was constantly falling out. Shine accessory bands start at $49.99 and go up to $249 or more but you have to buy one to get any peace of mind that your tracker won't fall out someplace you'll never find it. Minus one star for providing such a badly designed band with the Shine.

I love this tracker. I don't have to do anything, including take it off. It automatically tacks my sleep, activity and sincs automatically via blue tooth. No more sincing or charging with a doggle. I was Leary of the durability and wether it would really be waterproof for only 80.00 (on sale). But it does its job and I have lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks. I have had the fit bit one and liked it but it would fall off and I eventually lost it in the driveway and ran over it with my car. That is not covered under the warrenty by the way. So having the option to wear it on your wrist or as a necklace securely is great. It is so secure I don't have to worry about it falling off during a run. I love the fashion options too. It is definately the most apealing fitness tracker I have seen. I do think this is targeted more for a person looking to increase their fitness level and not a serious athlete. It does tell time which is a bonus, but the display is something you need to get used to. All in all this is exactly what I wanted and seems to be able to handle the water, cold Michigan temperatures and the 3 and under population I work with without any problems.

I switched to a Shine after using a Jawbone up for a couple of months. I loved the Jawbone app, but I HATED wearing the wristband. I found it bulky and really uncomfortable. I also didn't like that I had to sync the wristband with my phone to see my progress--I wanted to get a quick update of how I was doing with a quick glance at my wrist. So, when I just stopped wearing my Up, I did find I still wanted something to monitor my movement and sleep, but that would be more comfortable and have some kind of display. The Misfit Shine is INCREDIBLY comfortable. I never take it off. it's light, low profile, it doesn't get in my way when I'm typing, it doesn't hurt my wrist if I accidentally knock it on something. It's more comfortable than a regular watch. It's also water proof, so I don't even have to take it off in the shower (though I usually do). So, that's awesome. :) It also has a display. It's simple, using lights around a "watch" face, but using these twelve lights, you can tell how far you've progressed for the day based on your goals and you can also see the time, to within 5 minutes. So right there, my wish list has been fulfilled! Some other things I really like about it: 1. It runs on a standard watch battery, which lasts for at least a couple of months. No charging! Woo hoo! 2. It's versatile and can be worn on the wrist, clipped to clothing, or (with additional accessory purchase) as a necklace. I do prefer wrist wear. The sport band is comfy and the Shine stays in place well. 3. It looks nice. It's totally unobtrusive and can be dressed up or down. It doesn't *look* like a fitness tracker. It looks like a nice accessory. It also comes in multiple colors, so I was able to pick my favorite. 4. Many activities can now be auto-tagged. Sleeping, for example, is automatically detected by the device. You don't have to press any buttons or change any settings. The Shine just knows. It also tags periods of higher levels of activity and auto-tags when you are running. So now the not-so-great: 1. It is priced at a premium and never seems to go on sale. But, after wearing it--comfort-wise it was worth it. 2. For the price, though, I expected a much more useful app. There is also a HUGE gap in functionality between the iOS app and the Android version. If you are an Android user, I would actually recommend that you HOLD OFF on making this purchase. The app is NOT good enough yet. On the iOS end, the app is functional and getting better. It does offer weight tracking, now as well as your standard graphs and data on your activity and sleep. It also syncs well--if I forget to manually sync, the app will sync up with my Shine at least once a day when I'm holding my phone. Do not buy this if you have an iPhone 4 or earlier. It won't work. You need to have an iPhone 4s or later to sync. Updates do seem to be coming for iOS, though, and they even (finally!) included some integration with My Fitness Pal, which is a feature many users have been asking for. Neither version of the app has any meaningful calorie tracking for meals. If that's at the top of your priority list and you don't want to use a separate app for that (like MFP), research Jawbone products. I hated wearing that wristband, but the app was almost all-inclusive. 3. Activity tagging needs expansion. There are a handful of sporting events that you can select to tag activities, but general work out tags aren't there. You can't, for example, tag an activity as "yoga" or "strength" or "crosstraining." So to sum up--the hardware is tops. I love the look, functionality and comfort of the Shine device itself. LOVE it. The app, though, is a critical component of any activity tracking device, and the Misfit app still has a LONG way to go before it really even comes close to what's being peddled by its competitors. The app is free to download--take a look and see for yourself if you like it before you buy!

The Misfit is a sleek fashionable activity and sleep monitor device that performs at an elite level. Compared to the blocky shapes of the jawbone and Fitbit, the Misfit has a very elegant shape that makes it look more like a fashion accessory instead of a monitoring device. The actual monitor is top tier in that is accurately measure steps and performance throughout the day as well as sleeping throughout the night. The Misfit is at a four star rating only because of its inability to register yoga accurately. With the vast choices of colors available, the Misfit is a top tier Monitoring device that I would recommend to anyone.

I have had the Misfit Shine for over 40 days now and absolutely love it! Light weight, stylish and waterproof! LEDs could be brighter in the sun and the touch sensitivity is not so great when trying to tap for time or to check if you hit your goal, but the app is gorgeous and runs snoothly. Have used the Nike Fuel Band as well, and I feel this is superior due to it being waterproof, better price, styling, no charging needed thanks to watch battery lasting 6 months and I get compliments all the time about it.

Overall good product. The band is somewhat cheap looki g but it does hold on your wrist good and the tracker itself stays it it's holder too. I have only had this about 2 months so long term i am not sure how well the band will hold up but so far so good. Sync to a samsung s5 is ok but could be better. At times i have to try 2 or 3 times and even once and a while i have to go out of the app. And turn blue tooth off and back on to get it to sync. Overall it works for me and my wife has one too and had no problems other than what i listed.
