Customers are saying

Customers highly value the Moto Z Play 4G LTE for its exceptional battery life, impressive camera quality, and affordable price point. Many users rave about the phone's long-lasting battery, allowing them to go about their day without worrying about recharging. The camera is also widely praised for capturing great photos. Despite these positive aspects, a few users have expressed concerns about the charging port not being micro USB and the occasional issue of a cracked screen.

Let's set one thing straight, this isn't a flagship device, so it will have some compromises. With that said, the only true compromises I can see on this device is: 1. Camera. This isn't a flagship level camera. To put this in iPhone terms, it isn't iPhone 7plus level camera, but it is comparable to a iPhone 6s camera. 2. Screen resolution. Again, not flagship level resolution, however, consider this. Again, in iPhone terms, the resolution on this phone is "retina display" level resolution. So really, unless you are a spec fanatic, it shouldn't bother you. What I feel is a real compromise on the screen isn't the resolution, rather, it's the pentile arrangement of the individual OLED pixels. Google it if you need more details. In the end, it's a Samsung AMOLED display and it's still wonderful, just not flagship specs. With all that said, there are no other compromises with this phone. Sure the snapdragon 625 isn't flagship level, but honestly, it's better that it isn't. Because it allows this phone to last two days of normal use on a single charge. To get more technical, I can get over 10 hours of screen-on time on a single charge and I'm a heavy user. Put in iPhone terms, that's more than double the battery life of an iPhone 7. It's really liberating. I came from a Nexus 6p, which was only allowing me 4 hours screen-on time. Moto mods is just a bonus feature that I honestly have not really explored. Supposedly, new Moto mods will be released this year. tl;dr This phone punches well above its price. Camera is decent, battery life is, no exaggeration, freaking incredible, overall user experience is excellent. Buy it now.

I have only had this phone for two weeks but so far it has been amazing. The battery life on this thing is a game changer! If you currently suffer from battery anxiety this is your cure. Besides the amazing battery life this phone is buttery smooth and very responsive for all my every day tasks. The fingerprint scanner is fast and accurate for locking and unlocking the phone and I don't even know how much time it's already saved me by not having to type in passwords in all the apps that support fingerprint login. I really can't say enough good things about this phone. If you're thinking about buying one just do it, you won't regret it!

      Hi Brooks,

Thanks for your feedback! We appreciate you have one of our phones. The phone is indeed great as the device's performance is fast and smooth. The phone is a stock android phone which makes it very easy to use. We add up a good battery life for the best android experience.

The reason I am giving a single star is because there is no way to give a no star. The screen is really delicate had a slip on a snow covered area from my pocket and the screen was cracked fully Never go for this phone never never Had a very disappointing experience since this was within a week I started to use the phone and within the month of the purchase Neither moto helped nor the Best Buy helped to do something except for asking to get the screen replaced for almost a price which is more than half of buying a new phone...almost 250$. Btw even the screen cover which comes with the new phone was also not removed when this happened. I removed it only after I saw the screen was cracked Very very very bad experience especially during new year eve Never a moto phone again Don't go for this phone

For the stat nerds: As I type this, my battery is at 23% with 7.5hrs screen on time after nearly 23 hours of being off the charger. There's not much I can say that hasn't been said about this fantastic device. I'm blown away by this phone, something I haven't been able to say about a device... ever? I switched from a Nexus 6P to this phone and LOVE it. Nearly stock Android, terrific memory management, insane battery life, silky smooth performance, all in a sleek package. Love the Incipio Moto Mod, which nearly doubles the battery and adds wireless charging. My only nag is the B+ camera. 10/10 (Brief note about the screenshots posted: This is my first charge out of the box. I had the Incipio Moto Mod on the phone for about 30 minutes after fully charging the phone/mod. It was not used after this for the remainder of the charge.)

This is a fantastic phone for the price. It has an awesome screen as well as 2 day battery life. Front facing speaker is much better than a down firing speaker. Camera is better than I expected. Front fingerprint scanner is super fast and is in the right location, as opposed to being in the wrong place (on the back) like other phones. I love the ability to double chop to turn on the flashlight and double twist to turn on the camera. I use these features all of the time, so handy. The fluidity of the operating system is nice and smooth and quick. Don't worry about the 625 processor, it's up to the task. For the price, this phone is better than many more expensive phones. I highly recommend it!

This phone comes with a super-bright OLED screen. It's thin and fast and keeps its charge longer than almost any other phone. The "Z" features allow for magnetic attachments, but those aren't needed to make this a great phone. It comes with a fake wood back, but I switched that for a thin case by Cimo (bought online elsewhere) that covers the edges and rear camera better. Bought this on an amazing sale, so this phone with features of phones at 2-3x the price is also a great deal.

The price for the phone is good, and it is a fast phone even though it does not have the fastest Qualcomm processor, which does not really matter, this phone still performed fast enough for your everyday need, there are no lags to worry about and it is well built, you will feel the solid quality when you hold it, but the main reason why I bought this is for the touted battery life to compare it to the Lumia 1520, (which has a little bit smaller battery that the Moto Z play) so far, the 1520 still has a better battery life..but that is not to say that the battey life is something to sneeze about, it last me days on normal usage, with web browsing and shooting with the camera....I still like the customization of the Lumia 1520, but for the price, the Moto Z play is a good buy, I do switch between the 1520 and the Moto Z play, I would not hesitate to recommend it because for a supposedly midrange phone it does feel like a higher end due to the solid build....

I want to preface this by admitting I'm not a phone geek, so I'll review the features that matter to me. First off, battery life is awesome, I don't have to plug it in every day or worry that it will fail on a long run/hike. It takes great pictures, even without the photo mod. Speed and memory are more than enough for my apps. Looking forward to trying some of the mod add-ons! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it is bigger than what I wanted or needed, and it is more difficult to transport. But, I'm getting used to it. Overall I'm a happy camper.

Purchased this phone to replace my wife's LG g5 and she is very happy with it. Battery life is great after a day after normal usage of texting, a few phone calls, browsing fake book, and playing some games she'll normally end up with 60% battery left and that is without the moto mod extra battery on it. There's no doubt that it would last two days with normal usage and maybe even three if you use the moto mod battery pack. Screen is nice with good colors and good brightness. I guess the only negative I would have is we can't find anyone that sells a phone case that will fit over the phone when we have the moto mod extra battery on the back which is not very thick at all.

The Z Play doesn't rock the same flagship grade SoC as its bigger Z and Z Force brothers nor the decent low light camera performance but from everyday use, this phone definitely feels like a much higher end device. Day to day tasks perform smoothly and games work pretty well, even graphically intensive ones, with some hiccups in tow. Battery life is also insane and I've clocked in 8-10 hours of on screen time with this device. Camera isn't the best but performs higher than average within its mid range price point. Inclusion of a headphone jack is also an advantage.

So the first thing that stands out about this phone to me, is the battery life. It's exceptional in that department. I go through a day of medium usage and when I get home the battery is still at 48%. Next is the android. It's virtually pure android, which is good. The form factor is nice, the screen is clear. Sound quality is great. Cons: a little heavy and the placement of the power button is a bit goofy. They should have put it on the other side.

Buy this phone if you want long battery life. The combination of the more efficient processor and the large battery capacity gives it the leading battery life of any phone on the market. While this phone may not be as thin, light, or snappy as "flagship" smartphones it does provide extremely consistent performance and I have had no problems with it. The one area this phone does lack is in the camera. Unless you are in a very well lit area and your subject is perfectly still you will not be able to get a very good photo.

Received my new Moto Z Play from Best Buy yesterday and I am so far very impressed. Phone is high quality and very thin, but the two Moto Mods I have are really what sets this phone apart from all of the others. I used the Incipio Battery Pack and the JBL speaker boost which really exceeded my expectations, both worked flawlessly and the wireless charging with the battery pack makes the phone also able to be charged quickly with a wireless charger stand. The JBL speaker quality and sound is also impressive. I am looking forward to testing battery life but so far it is so superior to my previous Moto X Pure Edition.

I have always loved Motorola phones for their reliability and when I wanted to upgrade my earlier phone for a bigger screen, I chose Moto Z. The phone is very fast and the battery charge stays for a week between recharge on regular use without heavy Bluetooth usage. Very rugged as I have dropped it a few times on hard floors without causing any scratch to the screen. Very satisfied with phone.
