Blueair has made something as simple as a fan into a conversation piece with a truly unique design. The fan is lightweight and easy to move with the leather like strap on the top. It also has removable pre filters in different colors to add to the unique look. It comes with two (grey and dark blue) and I believe two or three other colors are available This allows you to add a bit of flair or complement your home décor. The small led light on the front will indicate your air quality depending on the color. The fan has three different speed settings, an auto mode and a night mode. The lowest setting is basically whisper quite, the second you know it’s running but it’s not loud, the third you definitely know it’s on. The third is about what you would expect from a typical fan on high though. In auto mode it runs based on the quality of the air from the censor. Night mode cuts all the lights off and only runs on the lowest setting. The fan on all but the highest setting doesn’t put out a lot of air. On the lowest setting it’s basically more of an air purifier to filter the air near you, on the second highest it’s a nice breeze when you’re within say 6 to 8 feet. The highest settings is more of what a bigger floor standing fan would put off on medium. This is a great bedside or desk fan rather than an across the room kinda fan unless running on high. The one area I think Blueair missed the mark on is the fact there’s no remote or app control. Blueair has such an awesome app for their air purifiers I really don’t understand why they didn’t integrate that ability into this. Given it’s small size and where the ideal places are for this, being able to control the speed of the fan with a remote or your phone would have been ideal. If you’re looking for a small air purifying fan that’s lightweight,easy to move and has a design that’s truly eye catching, this is it!

Bottom line: The Blueair offers a pretty decent, personal-sized cooling fan to accompany its industrial strength air purification/filtration capabilities in a very stylish and modern-looking package. There are a few brilliant usability touches to accommodate nighttime and smart outlets/timers, and just a few design elements that could probably have used a bit more tweaking. If you just need a stylish air purifier, this one is definitely a solid choice; as a personal cooling fan (that also happens to offer substantial air purification capabilities), however, it seems better suited to low and MAYBE medium speeds (at most) as fan noise becomes a bit excessive/intrusive at the highest setting. Design: Although it's slightly bigger than I expected (that's our 10 lb Yorkie-mutt pictured next to the unit below), it's still small enough to sit on a dresser or large desk, though probably not a night stand, especially if there is a lamp or clock on top as well. Dimensions are roughly 11" D x 13" W x 15" T, but you are supposed to clear out at least 4" around the unit on all sides, so you have to figure on losing that much real estate when you're considering placement. The coated feet are longer in the front than the back, so if you place the fan on the floor (or at your feet next to your desk), the cooling breeze is angled somewhat upwards and will sort of work its way up to you if you're seated. The rear panel is removable and houses a massive, 3" thick filter with a cloth pre-filter "sock" that covers the assembly--there is a second pre-filter cover thoughtfully included in the box. The front of the Blueair offers fan-blade ventilation via "hole-shot" design that is pretty stylish compared to a run-of-the-mill fan with simple slits cut in the face. However, the back of the unit completely exposes the cloth-covered filter, so you have to be careful handling or moving the fan as you could potentially crush some elements of the filter if your hand is resting against/putting pressure on the filter itself. A vinyl/leatherette (I really don't think it's real leather) carrying handle is fasted to the top with what looks like 4 silver button-top pop-rivets; they feel sturdy enough on my new unit, but I have seen these kinds of button fasteners give way in the past--depending on how often you intend to move this unit around, a bit sturdier construction here would be a bit more reassuring. Operation: There is no remote control, but operation is limited to only 2 buttons (power and fan speed/program selector) so you don't really need one. There are no automatic timer settings, just controls for fan speed...this is definitely a FAN that also packs in some pretty potent air purification; it's not necessarily designed to be a sophisticated air purifier with completely autonomous and unattended use in mind. Fan speed is indicated by a small LED that lights up below the selected program (with one exception), and adjustments from one speed to the next are silent (no beeps). There is a curved LED segment in the upper left corner of the fan's front grill that indicates current air quality. The LED cycles blue/orange/red to indicate clean/moderate/polluted air quality. While informative, this LED segment is actually VERY bright and would definitely be intrusive in a dimply lit or darkened room--fortunately, there is a nighttime setting that deals with this issue that I'll get to in just a moment. The "Auto" program uses the fan's internal sensor to vary fan speed based on detected dust/contaminant levels, supposedly starting off at high or medium (depending on how polluted the air is to begin), and then reducing down to the lowest speed setting once air quality is back in the "blue" range. All our rooms read as clean initially, so I didn't have an opportunity to see how the Blueair behaves in this capacity. However, the "Night" setting (denoted by the little moon icon) adjusts fan speed down to its slowest and turns off all LEDs. This setting is definitely preferable to regular operation where the bright LED segment would probably have kept us awake, but it also sacrifices our ability to select any higher fan speed settings that would afford a stronger cooling breeze blowing across the bedroom. Regarding filtration performance--I guess that all depends on whether you buy into the benefits of air filters and purifiers like this in the first place. We haven't had our Pure Fan unit long enough for heavy dust to start building up at the back where the pre-filter is catching larger pollutants before they hit the finer particle filter inside, nor is our home particularly polluted to begin with (we don't smoke or have an active fireplace or anything like that). But we do have pets, and our home does get very dusty as our constant expenditures on replacing dirty/grey AC filters will attest. We have other air purifiers in rooms throughout the house and they do a very good job of providing cleaner-smelling, less dirty living conditions for our family--the size of this unit's filter, combined with the powerful fan for moving more air, should prove to be a very effective combination in the long run. As indicated earlier, the Blueair Pure Fan does not offer any automatic timers. However, in one of the best bits of usability engineering I've seen in a unit like this, the fan remembers its last settings when powered up so that if you use a smart outlet or wall timer, it will turn back on and return to the previous settings just as soon as power is restored. I'm using an Amazon smart plug with the Blueair so I can control the fan with Alexa voice commands and set routines for unattended operation. This is something I was usually only able to do with fans and other small appliances that had a physical power switch that could be left in an always-on position...definitely a nice touch! Fan noise is really the only significant gripe I have about this unit. On low speed (and the night setting), the fan truly is virtually silent; but the cooling breeze is also minimal at best--I cannot see it offering much cooling performance if sitting back in a corner or more than a few feet away. The medium speed offers decent cooling at a reasonable distance, but is maybe just a hair louder than the white noise that a decent, but unobtrusive, desk-side fan would otherwise produce. I probably couldn't comfortably watch TV with it set to medium if the fan was right near my head because of the noise; but I could easily see falling asleep with the fan at medium as the cooling breeze really is quite effective. Again, however, the bright LED on this setting would be very intrusive at this point. At high speed, however, the fan emits a VERY loud wind turbine/whooshing noise that makes it pretty well unusable (in my opinion) as a personal cooling fan where you intend to be in the same room and in close proximity during operation. At full speed, I could easily hear the fan at the back corner of our master bedroom while standing outside the door and on into the kitchen. Now, I do give Blueair props for eliminating any unpleasant high-pitched motor noise at the maximum speed setting; but the volume is still high enough that I can't see anyone comfortably carrying on a conversation (or engage in work requiring deep concentration) with the fan set this high, nor does it seem suitable for use in anything but a WAY-across-the-room setting, unless you're really REALLY hot and just need to stick your face in front of a tiny tornado to cool off. At the maximum setting, the fan also started to shudder on its rubberized spiky feet; on carpeting, you might not notice, but on a hard floor, shelf, or counter/table top (where ours was placed), these vibrations caused some slight rattling noise to develop in the enclosure as well. That said, the size of the unit seems to lend itself better to personal (read: up-close) use, and the low and medium (to a slightly lesser degree) fan speed settings are perfectly suited for these uses.

I love this thing! This is my second Blueair product so I was not at all surprised by the quality. To give you an idea how things are in my house, I am always too hot and my wife is always too cold. As such, it is pretty common for me to have a fan on me. While this takes care of the airflow problem, it does nothing (truth be told it makes worse) the flying dust issue. This fan is the perfect solution as it offers not only a powerful, quiet and portable fan, but it also offers a great dual filter to catch dust and pollens. I can tell a difference immediately. Setup was simple, controls are intuitive and clean and finish is certainly above your average off-the-shelf fan. Nice leather handle makes this lightweight unit easy to move as well as offering a clean aesthetic appreciation. If there was one place for improvement (and yes, I know this is nit-picking) it would be if it was like my other Blueair Purifier and it had the WiFi option to monitor filter, air-quality and adjust fan speeds and modes. That said, I can see why a fan wouldn't really need that, but I am just spoiled. In all, this is a great product and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to a friend. **PLEASE NOTE** This product was provided to me at no or reduced cost in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. This pure auto cooling fan works well in a small to medium rooms. It helps cool the air in your room while purifying and have a nice stylish looks that goes in any place of your home. The fan has three speed , an auto mode and sleep mode, however using 3 speed makes the fan really loud, so if you’re using while sleep , is better a low setting, auto mode or sleep mode, the sleep mode is very quiet and also it turns the filter light off. The only thing I’m disappointed is that for the price of this fan , it should have air ionizer, other than that, the fan and it’s filters make a little difference in my room.

Funny, but I never thought of using an air cleaner as a fan. Of course they always blow out of the way but used as a fan, you are getting cleaner air blown on you vs, dusty air. Very smart idea! So, as for execution, it does a nice job as a fan, but not as a whole room fan if you want to really cool down. It’s good, but more of a personal fan next to the couch or chair. Could be on a bedside table. It’s larger than I expected, but I have to remember it is really an air cleaner first, and are channeling the air to you for use as a fan. It works for me! As having been a World Trade Center first responder with respiratory issues, clean air is important to me. This cools me and provides clean air. It’s a win/win. One small quality issue is that one of the rivets that holds on the handle was missing, and not in the box or wrapping, so it must have been missed at the factory during production. I don’t think it means anything to me, frankly it won’t be getting carried around much. The unit has sufficient controls for what it is supposed to do. No remote and no WiFi or Bluetooth. No problem because it’ll be near enough to reach and change or simply get up and change it. The air quality monitor drives the large led in the corner, and I like that! Easy to see if something is causing air quality issues not seen, like little particles (dust). It is very quiet. That is nice because traditional fans are too loud and then everyone is shouting over the fan. And you know, I’m so over trying to clean fans at the end of the season. It’s so time consuming and frustrating. This will not require that at all. Worth it for this reason alone! Lastly it uses a unique pre filter that goes over the filter cartridge. There are different colors and such, but traps big stuff like hair and what not from going into the filter. Smart!

I'm becoming a big follower of Blueair for their high quality and classy designed products. I liked this fan as its pre-filter is washable, and also the HEPA air filter can be replaced easily. The design is elegant and looks neat at my home. For the purpose of this machine, the cooling level is average but the purifying process seems excellent as I have other wifi-equipped products by which I can monitor the air quality through my smartphone, and based on my observation, this fan is working flawlessly. My only complaint is this fan is fixed-style and does not offer oscillation; nevertheless, it delivers air at 90 degrees. However, from my personal experience, when I placed it on the Buffet Cabinet, I had much better air streaming than being placed on the floor. Controls are physical and nicely positioned, and the air quality LED sensor is visible on the front left side of the fan to indicate the air quality status.

Think of fan with a HEPA filter on steroids. I have seen some internet hacks that use a box fan and someone attaching a HEPA filter to the back of it and you have a similar but crude device. This is way better than a hack. Plug and play. Assembly was a snap. HEPA filter has a washable pre filter and comes with a spare pre filter. Easy to use buttons. On/off... Speed... Night time use is great. It goes super low speed to keep noise down and all the lights go off on it. The fan speed and strength is great for it being a compact device. For its size build and functionality, I would recommend this product.

There was no setup, other than just plugging in to an outlet. All the required filters came assembled, so that was nice. I would still recommend reading the manual, which is mostly graphics and easy to follow. The unit measures 13” W x 11” D and 14” H (15” with the handle), so it’s not exactly small but definitely much cuter compared to the traditional standing fans. Due to its low-profile design, you may need to place it on top of a stand or side table with a little height to get the air flowing to the areas other than your legs/feet. I noticed that it’s not as quiet as I expected. There are three speed levels, and you hardly hear anything at the lowest level (1) but also don’t feel much air movement either. Both levels 2 and 3 are definitely audible and found it to be a bit noisy. However, airflows are much stronger and it feels comfortable. You have an option to set it for Auto or Sleep mode but I personally don't need either setting. I’m not detecting anything different for the air quality, as it was never an issue for me, so there were no noticeable changes. Maybe I’ll see it when it’s time to wash the filter, which I’m a big fan (no pun) that these filter covers are washable and not for single-use. Blueair fans may not be for everyone, especially at this price point, but if you are looking for a stylish fan to go with your décor, I would recommend it. It will make a nice gift and, if anything, definitely an interesting conversation starter!

Bought for my wife but she didn't want it so I gave it to my mom and she loves it. Showed her how to use it and how to remove the filter and pre filter. I am glad that her bedroom will be filtering the particles in the air and fan looks great also. My wife wanted a pedestal fan to blow on her face at night and this one did not have adjustable height. Had 120 dollars worth of rewards certificates and it was on sale for a 100 bucks off so I just bought it. I am glad one of my loved ones gets to use it.

At first glance, this thing has a very retro vibe to it which is nice. After finding out that it's made in Sweden, my first thought was, yeah, this looks like something that was made in Sweden. I call this an air circulator and not a fan since it kind of is and isn't. This isn't the type of fan that you'd necessarily have in your garage or attic. Nor is it the type of fan you want to plop down in front of after a hot day. Stuff like that is more geared towards your typical box fan you get for $20. This is more of an air circulator in that it has a two ply filter on the back of it to filter out most of the nasties in the air. It looks much like the filter you put into your car. There is a mesh sleeve that goes over the filter to further filter the air flowing through. On low and med, the sound level of this is pretty good. The low setting is almost silent so great to simply move around stale air in your place. The high setting is really loud. Granted, it does move a lot of air but it's not the setting you'd necessarily want to use at night. I picture this being used in your baby/kids room to help them get cleaner air. Or maybe at your parents house to use in the living room. Someone with allergies would also probably benefit from this as well. Overall, it's great at what it does and looks pretty cool too.

This is so simple to use taking right out of the box. It also looks pretty stylish. And it works very well. It's small and disgusting take up too much space. It's Adlai easy to move from room to room. We noticed the difference right away, not only did the air feel cleaner, but my son wasn't stuffy like he had been. He's been struggling with what seems like allergies including cough and stuffy nose when downstairs in the hang out room. It's the perfect solution, he gets air and allergy relief. The regular fan we have, I had to clean regularly because of his allergies. You know the fan blades gets so dusty so quickly. So this also saves me time by not having to do that. I love that it comes with a dust cover that I wash. It's also not very loud. I like that it has different speeds but I find the auto works well. It's very simple to use with controls on top.

The fan has been working well. I bought it because it looks nice, filters and had 3 fan settings. I put it in the corner of my work out room and get a nice breeze from it. I do have to prop it up a little more to get the right angle as the feet are set and cannot be adjusted.

I’m seriously impressed with the little air filtering fan. So impressed, I bought a second.

Until a few months ago, I didn’t know anything about Blueair. After owning one of their filters for the past few months, I wish I’d known of them sooner. I have a room over my garage that’s spacious and not quite as cool during the summer months – summers are long where I live. A perfect opportunity for the Pure Fan Auto to shine. The Pure Fan Auto comes in a very modest looking, brown box. I mention this because upon opening the box and removing the fan, you will be treated to an elegant design of a well-built device. It has a nice, leather-like handle with matching rubber feet to accent the fan beautifully. It is very well constructed, albeit in an all-plastic casing. The fan has a removable filter with a stocking like pre-filter. There is an extra pre-filter included as well. The filter is a HEPASilent filter, which is a technology designed by Blueair to help capture “at least 99.97% of airborne particles down to 0.1 microns in size” – impressive. There are only two buttons on the fan – power and fan speed. Then there are a 6 indicator lights near the buttons, displaying fan speed, night-mode, and filter change. There is also an indicator on the facing of the fan, in the upper left corner. It indicates air quality. In a nutshell, set up and use of the Pure Fan Auto is, in a word, simple. Turn it on and… Ah!...!...! I’m not sure how, but somehow air feels cooler coming through this fan. It is fairly quiet, considering its output. I can feel it on medium sitting about 7-8 feet away. If you set the mode to Auto, the fan speed is relative to the air quality. After an initial cycle of the air quality indicator colors, the sensor will settle into the current measurement for the room. Blue is good, orange is moderate, and that dreaded red… that’s polluted. Thankfully, all I’ve seen is blue! Set it to night mode, and it runs in a low-powered state with dimmed lighting – cool. The pre-filter is cleanable – you can vacuum it or even wash it. Regular maintenance of the pre-filter will undoubtedly increase the longevity of the HEPA filter. In my everyday use, I liken the feel of the airflow from this fan to an air multiplier. It’s very consistent, even, but strong. When cranked up to high, it has great output. If you’re just concerned about air quality, it’s quiet and controlled on low, but especially on auto. It just answers the call and checks the boxes. I’m not even sure why you are still reading this. You should have moved on by now to make a purchase or at least put it high on your consideration list. This fan is elegant, easy to use, and very effective. It is an impressive effort from Blueair in bringing world class air filtration to an everyday cooling solution.

The Blue Pure Fan Auto is my first air purifier that doubles as a room fan. And, I really like it. It does a great job keeping the air circulating. On its lower settings, the Pure Fan Auto is barely audible. Night mode keeps the lights and fan from distracting at night. Plus I just like the Scandinavian chic design aesthetics. It looks slick. If you're looking for an air purifier that doubles as a room fan, I highly recommend the Pure Fan Auto by Blueair. Setup: There's no real assembly. It was all pretty much ready to go out of the box. Blueair recommends the Pure Fan Auto in rooms under 350 square ft. The dimensions are 15.5'H x 12.9'W x 11.2'D in. The fan has a handle and legs for easy movement and placement. In my experience, they worked well. The fan is about ten pounds. Not as light as some, but not very heavy, either. Experience: The fan works well. The auto sensor did a good job picking up on high pollen days and if a candle was burning. Installing replacement filters and pre-filters is easy and straight forward. The Pure Fan Auto came with two pre-filters. You can purchase more filters and pre-filters on the Blueair website. Filters run around $25 and pre-filters are around $7.00. Blueair sells the pre-filters in a variety of colors, but in my experience, it didn't matter as the pre-filter is on the back of the unit and I wasn't looking at it much. Blueair has a subscription service for filters that does knock the price down a bit. I don't believe the filter is a HEPA filter. The particle filter captures large and fine particles, like pollen, dust, and pet dander, but it probably won't be as effective with particles smaller than that. Conclusion: I've been using my Pure Fan Auto for several weeks and I really like it. It's done a nice job cooling me off, is relatively quiet, looks great, and it helps purify the air.
