The Nest Protect is a very nice looking device. It has some features that you would not expect such a s motion activated nightlight, but it also is nice the way they function. Easy installation like any smoke detector despite the technical features, and when one goes off, the others announce an alert related to that alert. I also like that it is not only smoke but also Carbon Monoxide all in one device.

Very easy to set up through the app. They walk you through it and it takes only minutes at most. It shows you via a green light that it is working and functional when you turn off the light. Best of all, though it's there for protection, it has a daily (or should I say nightly) function too: it has a motion sensor that detects when you are up moving at night and shines a very dim light to brighten your way. This is not "bright" by any means but looks exactly like moonlight. Just enough. Though it might be pricier than you would normally spend, this thing is smart. It knows the difference between humid heat (shower) and dry (more dangerous) heat, therefore not giving you false alarms. You will have peace of mind because you'll be notified of issues even when you are not at home. And, it allows you to input an emergency number so that you don't have to think about that while dealing with a fire. Safe...and Future-proof your home with this detector!

Great Product and very easy set up. Took only 10 minutes to set up the 1st one after installing the app. Then the 2nd one was installed in 5 minutes. We have these Alarms on the 1st Floor and the 2nd Floor in our home. They sync with the NEST t-stat that we use as well. Knowing the piece of mind that we can check the status of our home when away and see of any issues which will notify me on my cell as well. Very good product and cost could be lower, but for safety and security of your home it's totally worth the $100.00 each item. Now when will be installing the "Drop Cam" in the home in a few weeks.

I bought this product mainly because i'm paranoid about my house catching on fire while I'm not home and my dogs being alone in the house and not able to get out in time. Thankfully I have not had to find out if that part of the system works and hopefully never will. But knowing that I will be alerted if there is something going on is a huge relief. I love the look of it. The night light feature is way cool! I want to get another one for my hallway so i can get rid of the plug in night light. Installation was a breeze.

I bought this to replace a $55 combo and the extra money was well spent. No more false alarms, a simple wave under it recognizes the difference between real and false alarms (shower steam). As an added bonus, it has a nice motion sensor activated night light for the late night bathroom trips, enough to guide you without waking you. In combo with my Nest thermostat I get reports of use and detection.

This thing is definitely worth the extra money, especially to not have to hear the smoke alarm go off every time we cook. The smoke alarm will send you a warning before it goes off so you can silence it before it ever goes off. It also has the option to act as a night light when it picks up on movement, which is great in the babies room.

Bought this after my friend had to evacuate his home at 2AM due to his Co2 alarm going off and then the next day we had to evacuate my office after our alarm went off. Easy to setup and simple installation. Like the ability to send a text message if something goes wrong so you dont have to be home to know your alarm is going off.

So easy to set up and so much better than any other smoke/CO sensor I ever purchased. And the night light option is a real plus. I bought this one for my second floor to match the wired one on the first floor. Once I am finished with renovations to my basement, I'll be adding another wired unit there as well.

Highly recommend this product to replace those old smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. two in one and looks so much more appealing. functionality is great along with versatile mounting locations. install was a breeze and they work with my nest thermostat as well.

Connected directly to your wifi it will send you updates as well as problems in real time, you can also have it set up to contact an emergency person as well. You can pair it with other nest products for added protection, other smoke or co detectors where they will all sound together and light up red for fire or blue for co, with a real voice speaking telling you the problem as well. You can also link it to a nest thermostat where in the event of an emergency will shut off your furnace, HVAC, and hot water heater, to stop the production of co or to stop the spread of smoke and fire. It will also tell you when it needs batteries changed. Lights up white when it detects motion when no lights are on. Great product.

The Protect is a top notch home safty device. It works in conjunction with my Dropcams to help keep my house safe. Step up is simple and the monitoring app is nice. The glowing green ring let's you know everything is well.

This purchase was actually a gift. I have 3 of these units in my house. They work flawlessly, and integrate with my thermostat. In addition to giving a verbal message instead of the deafening alarm when the unit first detects a potential issue, I get a text message. Be assured, the verbal message does change to the full blown alarm quickly, if the situation warrants. I even get a text message when the power goes out. Granted, you need a smart phone for these additional features, and need to install additional apps, but it is so simple, I think everyone can install these peace of mind features easily.

I have had my Nest PRotect for about 2 months now and my wife and I both really like it. We live in an apartment with natural gas and the carbon monoxide and fire alarm were sketchy and old and plan to be honest. I like that I can check an app on my phone and know everything is okay. The few times the nest has come on we burned a little bacon the warning came up and let us know the alarm may sound and I definetly preferred that over BEEP BEEP BEEP so I corrected the issue before the alarm sounded. Highly recommended I own a Nest Thermostat as well I think this company makes great products

the best smoke detector/co2 detector i have ever owned. I hope i never need to see it in action, but it really is amazing. It is pretty smart and warns you it detects smoke and where it is coming from and gives you time to acknowedge it before the ear piercing sound come on. Also you get alerts to your smartphone if its triggered.

I opted for the battery version although I could have hardwired my nests. I now have connectivity between all the detectors and my smartphone. I like the peace of mind you can get by being able to check the status anywhere that you have cell or wifi service. I also have a very intelligent nest thermostat, which I think might have already paid for itself this winter.

needed to replace the battery of my old smoke detectors and read some good reviews on this NEST. I bought 3 for the house, they are so easy to set up and anywhere I am i know what is happening in my house. Love the interface. And by experience they warned us for a bad boiler who produced CO. Best on the market easy to mount easy to set up. Google did it again

I love this product! It's amazing to be able to track everything from my phone and receive alerts when something bad happens. It also has a motion sensor so you can track movement throughout the day. I always check to make sure there hasn't been any unexplained movement before I go back in the house after I've been away.

Love my Nest Smoke Alarm! I want to get more to replace my old smoke detectors. I love the fact that they talk to each other and will notify you and the fire dept. when smoke is detected. You get monthly email reports. Smoke detectors talks letting you know how long you have to get out of the house-very Star Trek.
