I have 1gb internet connection with AT&T, I blamed them with slow internet. I had a long troubleshooting with AT&T, they changed the modem twice until they install their latest BGW320. This a fiber modem straight to the wall jack and wifi 6 802.11 ax. Have 4 ports at the back and one of it is 5GB. The inconsistency despite of 1GB port of Google Nest. I only getting 400+ mbps and sometimes I get 60+ upload speed. No choice, I have to returned the Google Nest today. If your ISP is AT&T, ask for their latest modem. This is a bad as* modem/router. No need to buy expensive router.

Our Nest system worked great for a week until we got rid of WiFi through our cable provider. We have internet still but we now can’t get Nest to work, even though we connected it per the instructions.

      Hi Kyle,

Thanks for letting us know of the intermittent connection issue with your Nest Wifi. We’re sorry to hear you encountered such inconvenience.

There are several reasons why this can be happening and we would like to assist you in resolving this. Here are some factors and troubleshooting steps:

      - Home layout: Building materials and other objects located between your router and Wi-Fi points or between your Wi-Fi points and mobile devices may affect your connection. If possible, try to use your device within a clear line of sight to your router or point.
      - Check congestion: There could be congestion on your Wi-Fi network if you have many connected devices to the network. You can try relieving the network by disconnecting some of the devices to see if this would stabilize the Wi-Fi connection.
      - Restart: A quick restart to your modem can fix internet connection problems, improve slow performance and resolve common wireless issues. Even if your modem appears to be working correctly, you may need to restart it to establish a secure connection to the Wi-Fi point.

We'd like to gather more information about your experience to help you further. Please feel free to reach out to us so we can take a closer look here: https://support.google.com/wifi/contactflow Nest

      Hi Dano,

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. We're sorry to hear of the connectivity issue with your Nest Wifi.

There are a few reasons that may cause the slow Wi-Fi connectivity that you are experiencing. Here are some steps you can try to fix it:

      - Signal interference caused by building materials and other objects located between your router and Nest Wifi points or between your Nest Wifi points and mobile devices may weaken your Wi-Fi signal and slow your connection. If possible, try to use your device within a clear line of sight to your router or point.
      - There could be signal interference as well due to traffic on your Wi-Fi network, on your neighbors' Wi-Fi networks, or from other sources like microwaves or baby monitors.
      - Restarting your modem can fix internet connection problems, improve slow performance and resolve common wireless issues. Even if your modem appears to be working correctly, you may need to restart it to establish a secure connection to the Nest Wifi Point.

We're always here to support you with your Nest Wifi related concerns and questions. Please feel free to contact us by visiting https://support.google.com/wifi/contactflow Nest

    Poor Speeds

What’s unfortunate about the nest is that it gives you the modem speed accurately when tested through the nest app. But when you actually test the Wi-Fi speed from Ookla etc it’s miserable. I have spectrum 400 Mbps Which the nest reads fine off the modem but the Wi-Fi speed for some reason gets downgraded to 40 Mbps. I did all the troubleshooting suggested on Reddit and Amazon and Google forms and only once did it result with accurate speeds but spontaneously reverted back to slower speeds. May be a firmware issue? Who knows. So I exchanged for the Netgear Orbi3000. And no problems yet.

      Hi Pinkman,

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience Google Nest WiFi with us. We're really sorry to hear Nest WiFi wasn't able to deliver the speed.

There can be several reasons for Google Nest WiFi to not deliver the bandwidth it receives from your modem. Obstruction from walls or furniture, placement of the router, the distance between the router and the points as well as incorrect setups.

If you decide to give Google Nest WiFi another try in the future, we would be happy to assist you. Nest

Wifi signal is very unstable and there is no fix. If you are on video calls this product will drive you crazy. Wifi speed will fluctuate all day. Video calls will freeze all the time. I have called Google support several times and they made me go through DNS change, port passthrough, switching google wifi cloud services on and off, resetting router, etc etc. Nothing worked. This is known issue for many months and hundreds of people complaint on google support page but Google still don't have a fix. I finally gave up and just ordered different brand router.

Had this mesh network for two weeks before it was intermittently kicking itself off the internet and requiring a restart. Eventually, it wasn’t able to connect to my modem. To prove the issue was the Google Nest, I bought the Eero and it works fantastic!! Lastly, with the Nest mesh needing to toggle back and forth between between Google Home and Google WiFi became very troublesome! Thank you Best Buy for taking the Nest WiFi back and refunding my money.

I bought this in December 2020, has worked great up until now (September 2022). 22 months later and it just stopped working, will not power on, no lights. I switched outlets and power cords, reset, and troubleshot with Google. I was told it was no longer under warranty and there was nothing they could do. I paid $189 for it, I will never buy Google again, going back to the more reputable longer reputation brands.

So I was not listening to my gut and had a BB salesperson talk me into these despite me having a feeling that he wasn't listening at all to my needs. My house is from the 1920s and I also have internet in an extension that's surrounded by sheet metal and insulation. I need to wire certain parts and go wireless in others, but I listened to the salesman instead. This didn't work to go through 75 feet of my first story of the house. Now, my house was built in the 1920s, so there is a ton of wood compared to today's builds. However, this thing was beyond awful for me.

I replaced my Orbi wifi solution with this Nest Google solution when after three years my Orbi died. The Nest installed fine, but after two days it began to randomly drop connections to devices. For the past month I have have worked with technical support and made many changes to the configuration based upon their advice with no resolution. I am taking it back.

It works great if you are near the main router. Not so great if at all if relying on the 2 add on points. So much so as the Zyxel c3000 I was trying to replace with these, actually covers the whole house better. For the 2 add on points to have a good mesh signal, they need to be so close to the router they really do not add any usable range. For further details on my installation to help others out, house is a ranch, 1600sq ft main floor and 1600 basement. If you google search this issue, you will find a plethora of similar cases/issues.

I bought this because of issues getting a good internet signal throughout our rural two story house. I paid the $100 for (professional installation) to forgo the headache of configuring it. For about a week it worked great. It then inexplicably quit working. I tried to contact the tech who said "feel free to text me if you have any issues" he hasn't responded and after spending over $300 on this junk I have three nice paper weights. At this point my experience with the google nest is its complete junk.

      Hi jDub308,

Thanks for sharing your feedback and we’re sorry to hear that your Nest Wifi stopped working after such a short time and that you didn’t get the help you needed. We’d like to recommend some troubleshooting steps that could help.

To further isolate the issue, we suggest setting the Nest Wifi back to default settings by performing a factory data reset by following the steps below:

      1. Look for a circle etched into the bottom. Press and hold the factory reset button at the bottom of your Google Nest Wifi router for 10 seconds. The light will pulse yellow, then turn solid yellow. When the light is solid yellow, release the button. Once the button is released, the light will turn solid white for a brief moment (five seconds), then to a solid orange light.

      2. Once the light turns to solid orange, this will start the reset process. It can take up to 10 minutes. Do not unplug the power cord during this process.

      3. When factory reset is complete, the light on your router will turn to a faint solid white light. After a few seconds, it will pulse white.

      4. Once the Nest Wifi router is pulsing white, it's ready for setup.

Also, we'd like you to know Nest Wifi comes with a 1-year limited manufacturer warranty starting from the date of original purchase.

If needed, we can work on the issue further if you would like to reach out to us at Google Wifi Support page: https://support.google.com/wifi/gethelp Nest

I am a big fan of Google products in general, but this Nest Wifi Mesh system has been a nightmare experience for me. The two points keep getting disconnected from the main router almost every other day. Needs to be restarted, and relocated to troubleshoot. I have tried all sorts of troubleshooting advice provided by google but, have never been able to get a STABLE HASSLEFREE connection.

      Hi Drcriterium,

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. We're sorry to hear you're having a difficulty with the bandwidths of your Wi-Fi network.

Google Nest Wifi has the feature, Band Steering. Band steering enables your router to automatically choose the bandwidth that gives you the best Wi-Fi. Based on the device capabilities, Google Nest Wifi attempts to select the band that will deliver the best performance for your device.

Devices that support only the 2.4 GHz band (an older phone, for example), will automatically connect to the 2.4 GHz band. Most dual band devices that support both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz will automatically pick a band based on different factors like signal strength and guidance from the mesh Wi-Fi system.

If you have further questions, or would like assistance about an issue, please feel free to reach out here: https://support.google.com/wifi/contactflow Nest

I am using this with Charter Spectrum. I always get my Wifi calls dropped, slow streaming issues, new devices don't work seamlessly. I have contacted google support a few times and even got the router replaced but still the same problem continues. Google support blames charter as it gets time out to have new IP provisioned and the only resolution they say is to reprovision the modem and reboot the router and wifi points sequentially. This just solves the issue temporarily and its back in a day or 2.

I wanted to like this but it's poor. The signal is "excellent" 1 foot away from the point but just good 3 feet away. If you are looking for parental controls, find a different system. This only allows you to pause during a set time or block indecent sites as a group. You cannot block individual websites, so if you're trying to block youtube and game sites while your kids are at school or doing homework, you can't do it with this product. This is a dealbreaker for me, so this has to be returned.
