I replaced my first one since I wasn’t able to connect any of my devices to the google wifi after a few months. Second set worked for a few days and I had the same issue. Technical support is terrible. I guess it is a software issue, I don’t recommend it.

The connection drops you are experiencing could be affected by interference caused by the building materials in your home. There could also be signal interference due to traffic on your Wi-Fi network, on your neighbors' Wi-Fi networks, or from other sources like microwaves or baby monitors. We recommend keeping your Nest Wifi Points in a clear line of sight to ensure you don't get any drops. Also, as a general rule, Nest Wifi Points work best when they’re no more than two rooms away from each other.

Wifi drops 2-3 times per day. Tried using 2 different modems, thinking initially that was the problem. Turns out the Google Nest Wifi has known issues over the past year with no resolutions. Wifi dropping has gotten worse over the last 6-months.

Step 1. Check your cables and connections
Step 2. Restart your modem, router and point(s)
Step 3. Check your configuration
-Nest Wifi uses DHCP, a common internet connection protocol, by default. You might need to adjust the WAN settings in the Google Home app
Step 4. Factory reset your Wifi devices

I usually do not have trouble hooking anything up! 3 days later, youtube videos, FAQ's pages, customer service chat.... Found out that they simply do not work if not lined up exactly as the units want. Area is about 2,000 square feet and it did not work at all! I am assuming because of the great reviews that they work great in some homes, but older homes with plaster walls.... Did not work. I am returning them.

A couple of months after installing it we noticed our internet became very unstable and we were constantly losing connection. The return period is over with Best Buy and contacting Google is impossible. We disconnected it and put our old router back on and our internet is running smoothly again. Don't purchase this. Basically $200 down the toilet.

Gen 1 Google WiFi worked well for me for years, but these have been nothing but trouble. Multiple times throughout the day, devices will be connected to the network but have no internet access. Google support is of no help. Forums show that many people are having the same problem with these. DO NOT BUY!

Seems to have had a firmware update of some sort that makes the nodes go off-line. Really sucks when you trying to turn on your voice activated lights and you cant. Seems like every other day I have to disconnect both of them to get them back online. Wish i could return them and get another mesh system.

There can be multiple reasons that cause slower or inconsistent Wi-Fi connection. We recommend checking the following:
- As a general rule, points work best when they’re no more than two rooms away from each other. For example, if the far end of your house has weak Wi-Fi, don’t put a Wifi point in that exact spot. Instead, put it part way in that direction. Try to place it in an elevated position like on a shelf.
- Building materials and other objects located between your Nest Wifi Points and mobile devices may slow your connection. If possible, try to use your device within a clear line of sight to your primary and secondary Points.
- There could be signal interference due to traffic on your Wi-Fi network, on your neighbors' Wi-Fi networks, or from other sources like microwaves or baby monitors.

It throttles internet speed and Google is not able to find any solution for it. I spend hours on call with support and doing dignostixs with them but no use. Looks like it's. Firmware issue and there is a big thread on Google forums about it. Even they send me a replacemenr which also didn't fix the isssue

My mistake

Had 4 nest units for a year with constant drops and multiple daily reboots. Slow speeds were an everyday experience. 3500 sq ft ranch style house and system was inadequate. Replaced with Eero pro and there have been no drops and the speeds have doubled or tripled. Online complaints about Nest drops have been ongoing for years with no fix in sight.

If you´re willing to try, you may want to check if you're using a modem/router combo. If you are, we recommend setting it up in bridge mode and disabling its Wi-Fi functionality. This will avoid any network issues caused by both your combo and your Nest Wifi Router, broadcasting the same SSID and password. You may then connect your Nest Wifi Router to your modem using an Ethernet cable, and then connect your Nest Wifi Points to your Nest Wifi Router wirelessly.

Not if you want to connect smart devices

They need a 2.4Ghz network and this router does not support an Initial connection those devices. Customer support had me try a few workarounds to no avail. It is unbelievable that this router and smart devices are both managed by the same Home app. I expect that some day a software revision will allow forcing the network to 2.4 while you connect devices. Until then wait.

This set worked great for a year, then a software update caused massive WiFi issues this fall. Widely covered in forums, but Google support has taken no action beyond telling us to repeatedly reset the devices. Extremely disappointed, had switch to Netgear Orbi. Strongly recommend a different system.

Immediately notice these lack the ports on the satellites. This soured the deal but decided to give them a go. Moments after getting the system together and updated we started experiencing same issues many others have with signal dropping out. Switched back and all is well again. Maybe they'll get it right again 3rd gen

There can be several reasons for Google Wifi to not deliver the bandwidth it receives from your modem. Obstruction from walls or furniture, placement of the router, the distance between the router and the points as well as incorrect setups.

Not able to connect to the wifi and also speed will decrease to a point you will be forced to restart the unit, after the reboot it will work for a day or two. My friend had the same issue and the support was not able to resolve it.

No Go on Android Instagram App

The iPad Instagram App works just find on the same 5 GHz channel. Strangest thing. It did solve the issue of getting a wifi signal to the dead spots in the house, but if not everything works no point in great physical coverage.
