Moved from an older/slower netgear to this during Black November sales. Very similar to my old router (right down to the same power adapter) but ridiculously faster. Combined with a Spectrum upgrade I'm almost getting 500 down on a wired laptop, and the same on wifi on my Samsung GS9. (One thing to note, I do MAC filtering, and this one makes you wait for things to try to connect, and then approve/deny. Couldn't find a way to set it to "here's the pre-approved MAC list" like the old one)

Pros Easy to set up. Comes with protection which is available on the app when browsing the internet. It scans your devices to ensure that there are no scam infiltration etc. Having teenagers browsing the internet especially at night when they may be tempted to visit those “sites” is no longer dreaded as you will get an alert that they were blocked and it will actually show you what website was blocked. With the app you can also pause or block a device. Cons I live in a rural area and just changed providers to Spectrum. My upload speed is 400mps and my download just about the same. Unfortunately, it’s either my area is too dense for the service as we get intermittent service daily. We did update to the latest firmware but it doesn’t always help. Having it for just a couple days over a month, I’m thinking of returning it as we had less issues with the original router from Spectrum. I’m disappointed as I expected more from Netgear and the price that I paid. I have an active gamer who complains incessantly about the lag. I was thinking that it may be a lag when it switches between 2 and 5 megahertz, who knows? And there you have it,

Like many people have said in reviews of this product, within a few hours of having it on I too was experiencing significant dropout in connections. Reading some of the forums I saw that the issue was apparently the Smart Connect feature, however after a firmware update I noticed that feature was not turned on and I was still having a lot drop-outs. With normal web browsing or movie streaming it wasn't too noticeable but it was definitely noticeable in games. Then I found it. This router includes an Antivirus service. Although I hate to turn it off as I think it's a great feature to have, turning the AV off solved all of my connection problems and my bandwidth actually increased from 50-80mbs across the board. If you are having connection issues, try this out to see if it solves. And to be on the safe side try to have anything connecting with the internet have some type of AV on it already. The Nighthawk app on Android at least leaves a lot to be desired from a management and configuration standpoint if you are someone who is familiar with configuring/managing a router. For those who are not, it definitely took a while for the software to recognize the router and configure it, but eventually it started working. It's still kind of slow and takes 5-10 seconds for it to recognize the router. The web portal is the best option if you need to access these settings frequently/need access to them very often

This is a pretty good router. I tested the signal all the way across the street and i still had wifi. Not strong but showing a little bit. Its enough for a 4 bed house. I have it upstairs and it works for everyone in the rooms upstairs and the rooms downstairs. Zero lag on the ps5 anymore. Wait for it to go one sale again. I got it for 150....do not buy at 300 unless u absolutely need it now.

Setup was tough and the mobile app would not update the firmware. Had to login on the pc and complete the setup. Download speeds were bad until some settings were changed. After getting it up and running it has been good. Speed and Range have both been excellent. Very pleased overall but took a little bit to get there.

Excellent router unbelievably fast. Great for streaming. Router was fairly easy to set up using the App. Had the unit a few days now and no issues to report. I’m using this router with Xfinity and am getting well over 900 Gb’S Per second on Wi-Fi. A full Gb if I’m hardwired in. Definitely happy with this router so far.

Recently I encountered A Wi-Fi connection problem while with spectrum services. I called spectrum to see what the issue was because my Wi-Fi did not seem to be working. They proceeded to tell me that it looks like I will need a new router and that I could go to the nearest spectrum and of course bring them the one I had currently that was not working and they would administer me a new one. I have always been interested in investing in my own router (not just because it will save me the $10 a month router fee) but because I knew it could be a smart investment with connectivity and reliability. So I immediately began researching routers once spectrum had told me I could bring that one in and get another one. I just told myself that this was a sign and now was the time to make the investment. I did my research on different types of routers. The NightHawk stood out to me the most with its exceptional reviews and it looked to be everything that I needed in a router. I must say I should have made the investment along time ago because it is the best decision I have made purchasing a NETGEAR Nighthawk router. This is your sign if you have been thinking about investing in your own personal router DO IT. you will not be disappointed and you will never look back at the cheap little router your internet service company has you use!

This router was exactly what I wanted. It has a very long range and it’s super fast. We have 15 devices that use WiFi all at once and have had no issues with the speeds. When streaming movies and shows there has been no buffering whatsoever. Downloaded games for gaming consoles (Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo switch) with no issues. Highly recommend!!

Installed this new router and not surprisingly, speeds are way up, as it was replacing an 8 year old router. But what was fantastic was how easy it was to set up, using the previous SSID and PW, all the connected devices worked seamlessly. And now the Nighthawk app sees all the connected devices. What I was fearing was going to be an all weekend painful process literally took 15 minutes. Good job on the APP Netgear.

So far i like everything about this router except for the sites software links. I had a lot of trouble getting my computers software downloaded and information was hard to find. Once past this barrier it was very easy to operate and works great. Signal strength is nice and covers my entire 2 acre property on lower bandwidth and the 5G covers most of it.
