this device is a beast!

so glad i finally get to upgrade and get rid of that modem rental fee by my provider. this is my first time owning a router and modem in one. the item is bulky itself but it only makes it more beastly. set up was very user friendly. i spent about 30 minutes but i enjoyed every bit of the install. new tech always excites me. i have approximately 25 devices connected in my house from smartphones, tablets, computers, smart cameras, ps4, smart tvs, smart lighting, smartlocks and wifi sprinkler system so it's crucial i have a good router. i do feel an increase in speed and wifi coverage throughout my 3 story house. i was able to receive connection at a location outside my front of the house for my Ring Doorbell i have previously used a plug in wifi extender for before. the netgear genie help does aid in the installation and help view your connectivity conveniently on your phone. devices features the new speedy docsis 3.1 providing reliable and quicker downstream/upstream speeds. the item is costly but you absolutely get what you pay for and in my opinion, it is totally worth it. i would recommend this device to everyone. netgear makes the best routers in my opinion.

This Gateway(modem/router) is a game changer! I use to work at Comcast/Xfinity and their devices are capped out at certain speeds and channels. The company is moving towards a Docsis 3.1 system so this is definitely a step in the right direction for our home. The coverage is also good. 1000 sq ft home. Basement, first floor, and them 2nd floor. My devices are on the 5ghz. Everyone else's are on the 2.4 frequency. I have a 250+ mbps plan.
Devices connected via wifi:
- 4 cell phones
- 3 tablets
- N. Switch
Devices harded line:
- 4k PoE security system 4 cameras. Unit has 33ft Cat8 from Router.
- Ps4 connected via 33ft Cat8 ethernet cord
- 4k player
- Vonage
12+ devices and this unit keeps going.
Activation: Call in the router to your cable provider after you have allowed it to sync up to the provider's signal. It can be a couple minutes to over an hour before I recommend you call it in.
Router Setup is easy:
routerlogin.com in your search bar and this will allow you to access the routers main menu.
I can't understand why people have a hard time with this unit.
A lot of issues can be resolved on the cable providers end. If the signal coming into the home isn't sufficient or has fluctuations, then you will continue to have issues like your old setup. Issues can include:
-head end
-the port at the tap(where your drop cable connects to)
-the drop itself(cable running to your home)
- lines inside your home. Behind your walls or tacked on the wall. If your home is new, this doesn't matter. It's the quality of the cable used and also if they used staples to connect your cable on wooden studs. Any pinch or penetration of the cable line can cause major fluctuations the cable signal effecting both tv and internet signals.
-quality of cables and splitters used.
I know this seems like alot but i have countless experiences where I had to switch out cables and Best Buy/RCA splitters because of DIYers.
As long as your signal is strong and consistent, you should have no issues with this Gateway!

I just switched from At&t Uverse to Xfinity internet - extremely fast! So I decided to purchase my own router instead of using Comcast router and I'm happy I did. In my past experience, At&t's router was slow and different provide wifi throughout my entire home. Although I didn't try to Comcast router, this Nighthawk is amazing. It reaches throughout my home, basement and outside and was a breeze to setup. Give it a try!!

No wifi extenders needed with this router, Signal carries far and strong. Speeds on 2.4 n 5hz are above what i pay for, and the 60hz band is best but i find that having to be within line of sight for the 60hz band to connect impractical as I can just as easily use a LAN connection which is phenomenally fast. 4k streaming on multiple devices no problem, over 16 connected devices with each getting incredible speeds. And i personslly like all the lights.

I got this to replace the router we rented from Xfinity. once I plugged the cables that used in their router/modem into this one, it did about 90% of the install and switch for me.
everything from the lightbulbs and door bell are smart in our home so the lag when someone added Netflix to the load was sometimes too much.
I’m now getting much faster speeds and areas of my home that were deadspots now don’t exist. I don’t see any lag when streaming video anymore

This DOCSIS 3.1 modem/router provides 32-down and 8-up channel bonding; latency-free speeds are assured with up to gigabit (1 Gbps) at 2.4 GHz and 2.165 Gbps at 5.0 GHz. Stream multiple HD movies, music videos, and digital music concurrently using one or more devices (computers, notebooks, tablets, smartphones). Setup is a breeze and activation with ISP (Cox, Xfinity) is straightforward--just ensure required information is collected beforehand (model, s/n, MAC address, ISP account number). On that note, three MACs are errantly provided by Netgear (at least on my unit): On the rear label along with the model and s/n; on the sticker atop the unit; and internally when using the Netgear web configuration manager. All three were identical except the last digit; use the MAC address on the rear label. Setup done within a half-hour and network back online soaring high in the digital sky with speeds of a diving screaming eagle--make that a screaming Nighthawk! No problem accessing the network anywhere within this 3200sf house (and the unit is not centrally located).

I love this MODEM and ROUTER COMBO

Well, I always used a MODEM and ROUTER COMBO in the house. It is about 2400 SQ FT but if you include basement adds to 3400 SQFT. The time of downloading video is now here and I needed to upgrade to reduce the buffering and allow everyone to watch programing on their device. Or if I work from home where I need to use VOIP to communicate with the office. It makes sense to get the latest technology. This ROUTER can be configured to allows my family the 2G BAND to allow up to a certain amount for them and their downloads. And I get to be KING with the 5G BAND which allows faster download speeds for my office actives. You can also, setup Guest on 2G or 5G bands but I do not unless the kids have a party and then I can open it quickly. I did not find any dead spots in the basement or on the second floor as this is located on the first floor. I and very pleased with this device and would recommend it. I use the BEST BUY recycle program to get rid of an older router that was wired so save a few bucks on this wireless baby that can last for many years. When the internet prices are cheaper for GIGGA speed, then you can look to upgrade beyond this device. If your needs are only to download videos and such, then this band width should suffice.

I have found great speed via land and wireless connections to this device. I purchased this to replace my modem/router from xFinity and it has provided great speed and eventually increased stability with connections. Initial setup took about 30 minutes and I am a novice user. I did have to reset several times the first few days before stability increased. Bandwidth has exceeded that I experienced previously with achievement of maximum transfer rates from my devices simultaneously (300-400 mbps with 3 laptops, desktop, 2 phones, 2 tablets, tv and stereo receiver connected, My spouse uses VPN with all settings 100% controlled by her employer's IT dept, and the intermittent connectivity issues experienced previously have all but ceased (1 occurrence). Well worth the $ in my humble opinion.

My 1st Nighthawk lasted just a little while before the signals just started dropping. Ofcourse Geek Squad replaced ASAP!! THE 2ND one lasted almost 2 years and BOOM!!...THE 5G Signal started dropping constantly!! And unfortunately the antennas are kinda fragile so, try to place it in a permanent spot from the start!!! When this device is fully functioning...LOOKOUT!!! IT CAN BE A POWERHOUSE!!! NO LAGS, BUFFERING WHILE STREAMING ETC.... FAR REACH IN LARGE HOMES AS WELL.

This has a great cable modem that is built in being Docsis3.1. I am unfortunately not really able to utilize the full amount yet as my cable provider is not there yet. This does have a USB 3 so I do use this for a hard drive just to catche on the network. The WiFi proformace has is ok. But the speeds are a little exaggerated since it uses 1024QAM, I am a RF and network engineer, and Getting that high of a modcod you could only use that in the same room otherwise you are going to get lower modcod such as you get further away. Other then that it works well. I do believe it is a little over priced since the WiFi side is mediocre. But it looks cools and has 4 antennas forMIMO

I had an old generation nighthawk and a modem from comcast. Wireless speeds would max out around 50mbps. With this new modem/wifi device I am not at 300mp/s on average. Great range and reliability.

The modem/router is very good. I am finally getting the internet speeds that I have been paying for. My old modem was not cutting it. I also was using luma mesh network which helped with coverage but I was getting very bad download speeds. I think most of the problem was my modem was not functioning properly or just needed upgraded. I have been really impressed with the reliability of the nighthawk as well as the speeds I am getting. I however do miss the ability to manage users, assign devices, set parental controls etc. Maybe I can get those features through netgear but I would have to research it and I haven't wanted to take the time.

So at first I had an issue with not being able to get my Fiber internet to go over 400mbps with the 3.0 technology. After I got the 3.1 and I was able to connect it to my PC wich has a 270 mobo, I am now able to get speeds up to 993mbps.
Also, this was super easy to set up. I really do mean that it was super easy. The booklet comes with illustrations for those who feel uncomfortable. Setting this up can be done without the Comcast guy coming to your house. set up should take 20 min or less.
**WARNING**
I swear the speeds can cause whiplash.

It works great but has dropped internet about 8-10 since purchased. Range is great. House is about 2000 sq. ft. and don't need an extender. Had ISP come and check connection a few times. They cannot figure out why it's dropping internet. Hopefully they can find a fix. Others with same device having same issue. So I don't see it as a Netgear issue.

We live in times when Wifi is as essential as Water and Electricity. My previous setup of Comcast modem would drop connection atleast 3 to 4 times a day and would require a reboot... ever since we got this Netgear AC3200 we have not had a single drop and the speed is screaming fast

read a lot of reviews on this produce since i am a 1Gig speed Xfinity internet customer. so far so good. Set up was actually very simple and for the first time in 15+ years i did not have one problem with set up, access to internet, and linking existing service to read this new product with Xfinity. I would recommend if you are 1Gig speed and dont want to pay the monthly rental fee for the Xfi box.
