I currently have gig speed I’m a 3 story home and i never had an issue receiving high speed with previous router(XB6-T) within close range but it had issues sending high speeds anywhere not 15ft away from router and so i purchased the Orbi Tri-band with voice. This has been impressive and has maintained high speeds even 2 floors down. Getting speeds up to 280mbps at that distance. Highly recommend For anybody Looking for consistent high speed range. The satellite with built in alexa with Harmon Kardon Speaker is a huge plus.

In my opinion it is one of the best mesh system available. If you are paying for fast internet service, and have more then 1,500 sq. feet home or office then you owe it to yourself and buy this mesh system. Not only will it expand wifi connectivity coverages through your entire home or office up to 4,500 sq. feet, but it maximizes the internet speed you are paying for to the max as possible. Setting up was easy through the app, and Orbi voice speakers by Harman Kardon was decent. Reasons I'm giving 4 stars for me was Alexa works properly 80% of the time, first day of using I was getting random disconnect internet connection (I seems to have fixed this issue by disabling Security NetArmor Bitdefender, setting the 2.4ghz band from "Auto" to 1, and all others unnecessary settings turned off through home portal and not through the app), no ability to manually set devices to which bands to connect to, and Orbi app lacking functions/options and would also randomly reconnects itself to the Orbi router while using the app. Overall, I'm happy with my Orbi despite some minor gripes about it. In about 1-2 years when it's time to upgrade to Wifi 6, I will definitely look into buying another Orbi when more Wifi 6 devices become more widely available and prices drop for Wifi 6 mesh systems.

Full disclosure – part 1: Okay, I’m a baby boomer. Not only that, I’m on the far side of boomerland, meaning the older half, plus female, so I’m not exactly technical. At all. And, like many boomers, unlike millennials, instead of a condo, we have a sprawling, north of 3500 sq ft one-level domicile, which over the past 30 years has become filled with bookcases stuffed with, well, books, because kindles didn’t exist for most of that time, and some people love to read, but it makes the walls pretty much like concrete as far as wifi is concerned. So when (full disclosure – part 2) someone said they’d send me an Orbi if I’d review it, I said, sure, send it over, and then I had to quickly look up, what’s an Orbi? I thought, great, this will solve my wifi problem, because the router is located where the cable guys first installed it decades ago, when it took three guys all day to get internet going, and of course it’s way at one corner of the house. I hauled an old Smart TV one of the kids returned into a room in the far opposite corner of the house, but it can’t pick up wifi with all those books in the way.
The packaging and actual devices look very nice. I like the gray fabric, and nothing looks or feels cheap or flimsy. There were instructions, but my sticking point was step 1 – how to get started? We have AT&T u-verse. What do I do? This is a router. I have a router. Do I toss mine and replace it with this? How do I get it to work with u-verse? There’s this extra wire coming out of my router, so there has to be more to the story. Anyway, this took some sleuthing, mainly on youtube. I couldn’t NOT have internet, otherwise I’d have to go into work and be there at 5 AM for something, and that would not be pleasant. So I waited until that ‘event’ passed and I could work on this sanely.
Once I got the router issue resolved, the rest was easy. Easy peasy set-up! I put the satellite closer to the back of the house, maybe 60 ft from the router. Now the Smart TV works! And we get wifi further out in the yard, the orchard, and much of the remaining homestead. I wish I’d had this when the kids were little so I could turn off their access. That is a very cool feature. And I do like the speaker, especially for Christmas music right now. And fast! That is surprising, as I hadn't realized we had slowly been getting used to speed degradation. Love the speed!

Total game changer

Throughout college, I sold and installed home audio equipment as well as personally owned equipment from brands like Harmon Kardon, JBL, Infinity, Polk and Onkyo. This equipment served me well over the years (and a few moves), however the amount of space it took up became too much so I sold it all.
Enter the Orbi from Netgear...
When offered the chance to have a "first look" at the Orbi Voice as part of Netgear's first look program, I was excited to see just how good a mesh WiFi system could be that integrated a Harmon Hardon speaker system and Amazon Alexa into a package smaller than a typical bookshelf speaker. My mind was telling me that all the elements were there, and if the sound was similar to a quality bookshelf speaker, this would be a game changer. In short - it is.
My thoughts after having used the Orbi system for about a week now:
- Setup/Management - Extremely easy using the Orbi APP
- WiFi coverage/speed - excellent. Consistently over 200 Mbps (very close to the speed of a wired connection) throughout the house. All devices are showing full WiFi signal. Added bonus of being able to connect an Ethernet cable directly to the satellite node.
Sound - Excellent sound that fills the room. Custom EQ settings. Sound profile is similar to the Bose Wave music system only with better clarity.
- Alexa integration - works very well. Love being able to ask Alexa to tell us the score of the basketball game or play music
The NetGear Orbi Voice is an excellent choice for anyone looking for consistently strong WiFi, big sound and integrated Amazon Alexa from a small, yet stylish device that blends seamlessly into your everyday life.
Note: I received this product as part of Netgear's first look program. All observations and comments are my own.

Setup is super easy and pretty quick. The Orbi app walks you through the process step by step so it’s pretty much fool-proof. Once you’re online the speed is very fast and reliable from many distances. If you look at the speed tests from reviews online, the satellite (in this case the Alexa speaker) has very comparable speed to the router at close distances. This is due to the dedicated band the mesh system uses to pass data from the router to the satellite. My only complaint is it’s rather large and not the most aesthetically pleasing. However, I will take function over form any day of the week.

The orbi mesh system is a little expensive but its worth it! I haven't had any issues with drop outs and I get coverage through my home, in the basement and outside. I have speakers set up in the yard 120 feet from the house and I have no issues. I get strong signal between the two units that cover 2800 sqft. I've tried google nest which is also good and eero but orbi has faster speeds so I kept it. I also have over 25 devices on the system and it handles it like a champ.

Easy to set up, and is a breeze if everything is working. But will take some fiddling if you get into some issue. Looks good, the sound from the satellite is nice as well. Will recommend for the price, speed and range.

It was pretty easy to set up and pairing the router with the satellite was just as easy. I already had an existing Netgear router so connecting the two with an ethernet cable was straight forward. Since adding this device, I have noticed much faster internet speeds. I game online and have about 10 devices connected on wifi in a 2 story house. The Alexa function works just as good. My only complaint is the price. It is overpriced but it beats upgrading my internet speed with my provider.

I was having some difficultly streaming to a basement TV from my upstairs modem/router. This solved the problem and was as simple as plugging it into the modem and following the step-by-step app instructions. What I wasn't expecting was that the speaker on the Orbi Voice satellite is a legit Harmon/Kardon speaker that has incredible sound! Even has an equalizer that is app controlled to get the sound exactly how you want. The value on this is 10 stars!

I got this one after trying multiple other products including a WiFi 6 router. I stay in a normal sized home -1800 sq foot but have multiple walls and none of the routers were doing the job. Forget basement, just wont reach the living area. This Orbi is awesome. It reaches every corner of the house and more or less the same speed everywhere - am very happy. The Alexa is a bonus and is a hit with the kids. Highly recommended

I wanted an extra satellite to go with my Orbi system. The fact that this one came with a speaker with Alexa built-in made it more attractive than the satellite alone for not much more money. I didn’t need the router but I may save it if the other one ever dies on me. The satellite works well and completes my setup. The speaker sound is very good but I wouldn’t say it’s excellent. Alexa works for the most part but it gets a little buggy with my setup. Maybe it interferes with my Echo located in another room (on another floor) but sometimes I will tell it to stop playing music and it only stops for a brief moment then turns on music again. So I have to tell it to stop again and that usually does the trick. Some reviews say Alexa can’t do as much as the Echo but I don’t get too fancy with that stuff so I can’t say for sure. For me none of this makes it a deal breaker. Also, it’s a quality design add suits looking relatively attractive in the room.
Bottom line: If you want an excellent satellite addition to your Orbi with a pretty decent speaker and Alexa bonus, get this. If you mostly want a great speaker you may want to look into other options.

I'm not sure why sometimes my devices will connect to the main router, and not the satellite that is MUCH MUCH closer, but oh well. The speeds have increased substantially and covered is wider. Only other issue I've had is that occassionally Alexa will not activate. Had to power cycle a couple times to restart the satellite.

Amazing how well WiFi actually works when you are not using a standard issue router. Well work the investment to not watch our devices spin anymore. The Alexa satellite speaker is a nice added bonus to control our smart home. I already recommended this product to my friend and he also happy with the higher quality WiFi connection.

The Orbi with Alexa is really cool. We are able to get wifi to our house from our neighbors across and up the street a bit. It has great signal and so far, has rarely dropped. Alexa is just a cool bonus to have to be able to listen to music, weather, jokes, find out where your stuff is, etc. Love it!

Previously had a modem/WiFi router combo in the basement and additional WiFi router on 2nd floor. The main reason I wanted a mesh product was to avoid my situation of having 2 WiFi access points with different SSIDs. If I were not a technically savvy person, setup would have been very difficult. I first had to reconfigure my existing modem/WiFi router to operate in "Modem Only" mode. Not sure that this would be a very obvious task for the average person. I had some difficulty syncing between the two satellites on the first day as well. Overnight, the devices updated their firmware and lost synchronization again. But, after the first 24 hours of buyer's remorse, everything has been great. The Orbi app is nice for monitoring the network. The Circle App is pretty cool, but I don't have use for the the paid monthly features (mainly parental controls). The Alexa support doesn't do everything that Amazon-made assistants can do (like broadcasts/announcements/calls), but it handles music playback and basic questions. It's a nice feature regardless.

This mesh is just amazing, I get consistent 200+ mbps all around the house with my 200mbps subscription from my ISP.
I used to just get 10 mpbs in my room but with this mesh, it’s an average of 225 mbps. Amazing!
The Speaker is not the best but it’s ok.
