An Action RPG with tons to do.

The first things you will notice about this game are the stellar anime-styled graphics and the beautiful music. Developed by Level-5, Ni No Kuni 2 is an action RPG with all the style and musical prowess of a Studio Ghibli animation film (especially since staffers from them worked on this game). A young boy king named Evan is in danger when a coup overthrows his kingdom. Meanwhile a mysterious man named Roland (who is a ruler himself) is magically transported to Evan's kingdom where he protects him and helps him escape. Evan, with the guidance and wisdom of Roland, sets out to create his own Kingdom where everyone will live "Happily Ever After" and restore peace and order to the land. The combat uses melee, magic and ranged attacks in an action format where you can switch between characters on the fly (and you will need it with certain enemies). After you progress through the tutorial levels, you eventually get to a world map where little Chibi designs of your characters will walk the plains and mountains and confront enemies - which then take you back to the action RPG battle segments. You meet some wonderful characters along the way and early on run into these little creatures called Higgledies. These cute little creatures will fight along side your characters in the action RPG battle segments - sometimes with cannon ranged attacks, fire attacks or even dark magic attacks. You can have multiple ones on the field with you and depending on their "moods" some will get along better with others which in turn will make them more powerful on the field with you. The world is expansive. In addition to the castle section, you have plains, mountains, forests and labyrinths. There are chests and items scattered through the map which give you incentive to check everywhere but do be careful as a powerful enemy could be lurking around which could easily kill you. Another thing that was interesting is that in addition to the world map encounters and RPG battles, you eventually enter into some Real Time Strategy-styled battles when attempting to clear the land for your kingdom. Here you have a certain number of warriors on the World Map and direct your army with ranged and melee attacks. There is a lot to do and accomplish in this game, as well as much food for thought. In addition to simply fighting to survive, you are gaining allies, liberating areas and creating your own kingdom. The fighting felt quick and satisfying but the deeper conditions of how to create a brand new kingdom from scratch really was an interesting premise. One thing of note is that there is a lot of dialog in this game and not all of it is voiced. There is some excellent voice work but many times, a cutscene would commence and then for some time there would be simply text to read. With the beautiful graphics and music as well as some of the situations, I wish they could have done a bit more voice work to flesh out the characters. The Premium Edition has a beautiful Steel Case and comes with a CD with (4) songs from the game. I wish there could have been more because this soundtrack is beautiful. There is also a Paper Craft Diorama that comes with it showing Evan in front of a crowd that you have to assemble for a 3-D effect. I would recommend just keeping this in its plastic as it was ridiculous to try and put together. Overall, if you are looking for a sweet story with some excellent action RPG segments but with tons to do, then I would recommend this game. Just be prepared for a lot of dialog and a lesson on how to create a world where "Everyone can Live Happily Ever After!" :)

Ni no Kuni is Still Amazing

First and foremost, the game is superb. If you're a fan of the first then it's a no brainer. What was originally said about the first game is still true for this one, it feels as if you're playing a Ghibli movie and it's just as excellent. I've sunk many hours into the game and it keeps bringing me back into it. From the ability to grow your kingdom, the engaging battle mechanics to the intriguing story, there's nothing that this game falls short on. And don't fret if you didn't play the first one. The game is entirely insular, similar to how Final Fantasy games. Speaking of which, much like Final Fantasy I truly hope that Ni no Kuni become's Level-5's Final Fantasy and that there will be a 3rd game in the future with many more to follow. I highly recommend this to any fan of Ghibli films, JRPG enthusiasts or those that want to try a game that's a bit different from traditional RPGs.

Ni No Kuni 2 is a somewhat indirect sequel to the first game released over five years ago. None of the characters in the two games are linked, though the locations are. The game is a JRPG, with the battle system now being action-focused instead of turn-based. Wonderful animation and excellent soundtrack, I finished the game and loved it. The only part of the game I didn't care for was the "town building" parts, which sometimes walled off parts of the main story.

I normally hesitate to buy premium editions because most aren't worth the extra money, but this is one of the few where I felt it was truly worth it. The steelbook is really nice and features vibrant artwork on both sides. The DLC weapons aren't necessary but give a nice bonus in the early fights of the game. The soundtrack included on the CD is nice to have, especially because this game has amazing music! Overall, definitely worth it, and a very fun and vibrant game.

The first Ni No Kuni had some Pokémon mechanics in it. It was a great game with great music. This time in the sequel you can play with more characters. The game allows you to receive help and use abilities from other characters (trying not to spoil anything here). Simply put I love this game. It has more great artwork put into it. The music is lovely and calming. I love the soundtrack CD that I received and steel book. The 3D papercraft kit it pretty cool. I am satisfied with this purchase.

Ni No Kuni II is much weaker in the story and character development than its predecessor Wrath of the White Witch. The story and characters are extremely idealistic; overall it feels like a Disney film. Characters are used to simply move the plot forward, even if it is too idealistic and forced. The performance on the Pro is amazing - 60 FPS and 4K HDR. There are minor frame pacing issues. However, this doesn't occur frequently. Gameplay is fun and varied.

I played the first game and it was fun. This game is better in my opinion. There is no familiar collecting anymore but the battle is more fast pace in this game. This was the first game i played on my new 4K tv!! I spent 11 hours in one sitting with this game. It's is kind of slow at first but the battle system is pretty interesting + first time playing on a 4K tv so i lost track of time.

I spent about 120 hours on this game and had a lot of fun beating it. Story was predictable, but enjoyable. The RTS element to the game with the castle building was a big surprise and gave me this urge to complete it. It became a huge grind towards the end, but the final version of the castle was quite nice. I highly recommend it if you enjoy old school RPGs.

I haven't finished the first one on PS3 but once I saw this one for sale i decided to pick this one up because why not. The art style and the characters look just amazing. Just like the first game. I played this for a couple hours and it made me want to go back to finish the first one. I recommend it.

Ni No Kuni 2 is a sequel to the first game, though the two stories aren’t tied together. Graphically it’s nice to look at on the PS4 pro, and the sound track is excellent. Studio Ghibli had some involvement in the game (though not as much as the first title), and the combat is now action based instead of turn based. I’m enjoying my time so far with this title.

Unfortunately didn't get a chance to play the original on the PS3, but had heard rave reviews for the sequel, and boy where those reviews correct! This is a fantastic game, with beautiful visuals, an awesome though sometimes weird story, and great gameplay! I definitely recommend it if you love JRPGs!

If you are into RPG games, then this is the game for you. The game started off with a background story for those that havn't played the first game, so no need to worry if you havnt. The gameplay is amazing and being able to own the steelbook collection was a great plus. The artwork on the cover was amazing. Would recommend to any RPG lover.

This game has some slight difference from the first game. Mainly the combat system. I feel this system is definitely a big improvement over the last game. The visuals and music in this game are incredible, if your a fan of studio ghibli you'd be silly not to get this game.

The first game was the reason I bought a PS3, and this sequel doesn't disappoint. It changes up the combat system quite a bit and adds in both a city-building aspect and a troop/army battle system and both, while slightly on the simplistic side, still are great additions to an already great game.

I was a fan of the original Ni No Kuni, so I picked this game up. The graphics are sharp and it looks like you're watching an anime. The fighting system is engaging, similar to the first game. The premium version has additional accessories, which is worth it if you can get it on sale.

Doing it for the points. Got the game before Black Friday 2018 and a lot great reviews online. The premium edition was the same price as the standard edition I believe at the time of sale. So no brainer to get more content for the same price.

This games was extremely fun to play. The combat system is smooth, easy to learn but it can be hard to master. The kingdom management is pretty easy, you can spend about 10 it so minutes starting research, building and collecting your items then leave it for a few hours.

Ni No Kuni 1 was a game my girlfriend put a ton of time into a few years ago. While she was iffy on the 2nd since it didn't have the monster collecting, within just a couple days of owning it she put it 30 or so hours already. Highly recommend to any JRPG fan.

A fun, but a little easy game. Visuals are nice, but not quite as good as the original. I recommend playing on hard mode for rpg veterans, but makes for a good starter rpg on normal mode. Overall, would recommend, if you like the aesthetic.
