I purchased the Z5ii with a 50mm 1.8S as my first mirrorless camera. I contemplated for years on getting a Z5 or Z50 but it never felt worth it until this release. The long story short is this: You aren't giving up anything in IQ to any MILC camera with Nikon's least-expensive, current-Gen full-frame in the Z5ii. It's more than good enough for professional event photography/portraits. It's AF-C/tracking works great even if it's not quite Z6iii/Z8/Z9 levels of speed. If you're familiar with Nikon DSLR controls you'll be right at home. The feature-set is endless and pretty much anything you need for high level photography and videography is there for you. This is a great hybrid video/stills solution and even with the 1.5x crop the 4k60fps footage is wonderful. The full-width 4k30/24p is breathtakingly good with either in camera colors or using N-log and post grading. Don't let the "slow-sensor, rolling shutter" talk dissuade you unless you're constantly shooting fast pans. It's not that bad and in 4k60p 1.5x crop it's actually great. I shot some great half-speed slo-mo that looks extremely good on my 75" 4k HDR TV. Better than 99% of anything you'll see on YouTube. The Nikon Z system is finally mature with amazing first and third party lens options. There's something for everyone. The Z5ii will push things even farther for Nikon allowing multitudes more people access to their wonderful camera system for a reasonable price.

The Z5ii seems to be the perfect balance between quality photography and cost. I have had this camera for about a month and have mostly used it outdoors. The autofocus is excellent. I've used Auto, Aperture Priority and Shutter Priority, so far. I'm anxious to do some low-light shots but have yet to do so. The display is very good and very versatile. I would recommend purchasing the body only and consider purchasing a Tamron 28-75mm 2.8 zoom lens. I got one and it is superb and the cost is well below the Nikkor zoom. (Check out the reviews - Unfortunately Best Buy did not offer this lens when I bought the Z5ii.)

I switched from a Sony A7 III to the Z5 II and could not be happier. The way this camera renders color and tone is unlike anything I’ve experienced when shooting digital, and for $1,700, it’s a steal. Paired with the 26mm f/2.8, you have an excellent compact setup for everyday shooting.

I am really pleased with this camera. It is my first nikon full frame camera, and I couldn't be happier with it. I am still learning all the settings and capabilities of this camera, but that is part of the enjoyment! Seems really good quality and loaded with features.

Loving this camera. Packs such a comprehensive punch as an entry level full frame camera. Auto focus is amazing. Low light is incredible. The form factor is S tier. Would recommend to anyone starting or seasoned as a photographer. 5 stars. 2 thumbs up!!

I recently switched from the Nikon Zf to the Z5II, and it's been a really good move for my style of shooting. I liked a lot about the Zf — the sensor is fantastic and the design is beautiful — but over time I found the handling a little frustrating, especially during longer shoots. The grip on the Z5II is a big improvement: much more natural and balanced in the hand. Performance-wise, it delivers exactly what I need. The autofocus is quick and accurate, low-light handling is strong, and the files out of camera have great flexibility for editing. It’s not trying to be flashy — it just does everything reliably and gets out of the way, which is what I prefer these days. If you're someone who values comfort, solid image quality, and a dependable workhorse of a camera, the Z5II is a really solid choice. I'm definitely happy with the trade. The only thing I would watch out for is the included Adobe Lightroom 1-year subscription. I registered my Z5ii and then contacted Nikon support and they stated that they don't have any Adobe Lightroom offerings for new Nikon Z5ii user. Not sure if Best Buy marketing made an error here, but Nikon support confirmed they don't know of any Adobe offerings today.

Finally, a Nikon full frame camera with a fast processor, fast and accurate autofocus, and DUAL CARD SLOTS…and regular SD cards not one SD card and one card that’s $125 a piece and requires a special adapter just to download the files off it (XQD). Best Buy / North Canton was a great help. Chase from their camera department was bery polite and helpful.

This is my first Z series camera. After watching and reading a number of reviews, I was hoping this would provide the auto focus and higher ISO sensitivity I desired. So far it has lived up to its advertised quality for still photography. I've used FT3, FM2, D70, D700 and D810. And this is a marvelous camera.

I had the Z8 and the Zf before getting this camera. After a couple of years using those cameras, I learned that the Z8 is great, but as a street/travel photographer, it is just too big for my needs and to carry around on family vacations. That’s why I eventually bought the Zf. I still want a full-frame sensor but a smaller body. The Zf is great too, but I found the lack of grip somewhat uncomfortable to carry around the entire day with a bigger lens attached to it. So when they announced the Z5 II, I thought it would be a nice mix of a smaller body size like the Zf but with the comfortable grip of a Z8. I decided to purchase it, and immediately I loved the way it feels in my hands. Some extra features I loved are that it has more customizable buttons, dual full-size SD cards, and 3 programable custom user modes on the dial for quick access to custom settings in certain situations. The color looks great and supports the Nikon recipes from the Nikon cloud or the ones you can download from websites or forums that share them. Low-light image quality, autofocus, and stabilization are incredible, and stabilization is so good I can easily handhold the camera without using a tripod. I plan to keep my Zf to use with pancake-type lenses only when I’m in the mood for manual dials, but for everything else, I will be using the Z5 II.

The Z5II is a great improvement over the Z6II and Z5. The autofocus speed and accuracy is much better and there are so many more improvements they are too numerous to list. I highly recommend this camera for it’s entry level price but high end features and performance.

I owned D750 for sometime and wanted to move to mirrorless. Z5II was perfect fit. Good grip, light and brings in all the benefits of going into mirrorless world. Price point is also great. Pairing it with 24-120mm F4 would be awesome. Works really well with all F-mount lenses. One of the best options to consider if budget is under $2K

Ive shot aps-c (nikon z50) for years and wanted to break into full frame finally. I couldnt be happier with the z5ii. Paired with solid glass, the performance is incredible. Nikons late to the game but the auto focus is finally on par with comparable models from canon and sony. Highly recommend

Sure, if you can afford it; go ahead and look into a Nikon Z6iii, Z8, or Z9...but for most people the Z5ii will be plenty of camera. The autofocus is quick and accurate in both photo and video mode. The quality of the photos and videos is excellent. The build quality and weather sealing is excellent for the price.

Honestly this was a great starter camera with so many features. I would highly recommend to friends and family.

The Nikon camera I just purchased works great. It has been fun to have a new camera to play around with. I look forward to making many family memories using this camera.

Excellent camera!! It has great video features and Photo Quality

It takes sharp clear pictures. Setting are almost the same at the first z5 . It’s awesome in low light. Light weight and easy to to handle.

The uptick in dynamic range capture capabilites is very apparent when editing improperly exposed photos. I was awed that even with that plus, the photos didn't take on an odd tint which is typical with some other Nikons.

Coming from a Nikon z6ii I would say the focus is faster but doesn’t have the build quality of the z6 bodies
