I currently own the HTC Vive and Playstation VR. I decided to buy the Oculus Rift for a second time because I wanted to try out the touch controller to see how much it added to the VR experience. Although it certainly was a step up over the Move and Vive controllers, the poor lenses in the Rift cause things to look darker and give off lens flares when white text is on the screen. I also prefered the tracking fidelity I got from my Vive way more as I felt it was much more accurate and my VR hands didnt get lost. Pros: Comfy headset Light Easy to set up Best exclusives and no workaround needed to play any VR game touch controls feel more natural than VR wands Cons: Headset made me nauseous while the Vive never has lens flare inaccurate tracking unless you buy 3rd sensor If you are new to VR and want a solid performer and dont want to spend 599- get the Rift. However, if you are willing to spend a bit more I would say go with the Vive and wait for the new controllers that are similar to the touch to come out. Thats what I will be doing.

The standard of vr is also one of the most affordable and solid experiences out there. Careful though, due to reducing costs the plastic lenses can get scratched if used with glasses and can get foggy or blurry at times. My first headset was super clear and then got a blur that wouldn't go away so i replaced it with best buys amazing return policy and got a new one. My second one seems to have a little bit of a veil effect on the lenses during some dark pitch black screens other than that a bit of shimmer or glare is noticeable compared to my first headset although maybe I'm too conscious of it's lenses now that my first lenses had a horrible blur that i would focus my eyes on too much and I'm noticing things that i didn't before. Once you're immersed and can ignore all of that it's an amazing and immersive experience but don't expect it too look as sharp as real life or as it would on your tv or monitor. One thing to note is that you'll need a beefy computer to have the best experience so it's hard to recommend to others.

I got my Oculus Rift about three weeks ago, and I’ve been using it about every other day. I’ve had no issues thus far, however if you are considering getting one I have a couple of suggestions. Get a couple of Active USB 3.0 extension cables, an HDMI extension cable and spring for the optional 3rd sensor along with either well mounts or tripods. My only issues have been slight fogging of the lenses which can be fixed with anti fog spray or waiting until I’m not hot and sweaty to play, and the factory foam around the head unit. I would have liked to have seen a perforated leather type material. All in all yes I would recommend this and would buy it again.

I had to choose between the Rift and the Vive and after doing a lot of reading it basically came down to price. I also liked the fact that both Facebook and especially Microsoft are behind the Rift as it makes me feel like updates and upgrades will continue coming. Favorite games are super hot and robo recall. Really a lot of fun. Lost one star because the lens are too easily scratched if you wear glasses because they can touch your glasses. Harder lens? Some engineer can solve this.

I have used this on a few computers and it worked great. My device was faulty though, and under gentle use started to get pink streaks in the left lens. I submitted a warranty claim with Oculus and they took care of it after sending some photos, etc. Great product, and a company that stands behind it.

Oculus is great. Only problem is that they do not off any repairs. Damaged mine and was forced to buy new headset from Oculus. Wearing glasses can easily scratch the Oculus lenses.

    Warning for prescription glasses users

The experience is fantastic but this is just a warning that needs to be made clear. If you have to wear glasses then be warned, if they touch the Oculus Rift lenses the Rift lenses will scratch extremely easily and then they are ruined. The lenses are made from some very soft easily scratched plastic. Even though I have small frame glasses getting this headset on without the glasses touching the lenses is very difficult. I've had this only a few days and they are scratched and now I don't know what to do. I'm afraid to experiment with plastic polish and make it worse. I guess I'll plead my case to the manufacturer and see what can be done and for what cost. These are not for people that have to wear glasses.

    High Tech Junk

Glitchy and not well made. Very cheap plastic and the lenses are really poor quality optics made from soft cheap plastic. Mine lasted barely two months before it died out on me. Half the games in their store are PC games and aren't made for Oculus so I ended up getting refunded for nearly 1/2 of what I bought.
