Didn't work properly
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ran the Oculus system checker so I know my computer specs were sufficient for this product. However, I encountered constant problems. The display turned on and off during use and the picture was blurry even when it worked (perhaps due to flawed lenses). The motion sensing for head and controllers was shoddy and constantly misread movements. Lastly the occulus software tried to force non VR games to run through the Oculus. I closed the Oculus program but it would reopen itself if I tired to start a game. I had to uninstall the Oculus software just play other games

Ok but not outstanding
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It works sometimes and sometimes it doesn’t. Won’t always let you update the software. For no good reason it makes you readjust the sensors 3-4 times a week. The controller tracking software isn’t very accurate. Mediocre at best. Every couple of days I have to uninstall and reinstall the software. Just to use it. Will be returning this 400 dollar paper weight.

Broken out of the box.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although the setup was easy, the Oculus was broken out of the box. Troubleshooting online was ineffective. The product is too new in its life cycle and the manufacturing process may not be robust enough to produce quality product. Took it to Geek Squad who confirmed what we observed. Decided to return and not wait for an exchange since there were none in stock. Should have read reviews before purchasing. Will know better next time.

Loading issues
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for the child in Feb of this year. We upgraded the computer’s graphic card before purchasing, so it would be compatible and work properly. Had issues setting it up, but eventually got it to work. Unfortunately, it’s been little, unsolvable issues here and there. Didn’t get much use because of that. Tried using 2 or 3 times, in the past 3 months and it causes more frustration than enjoyment. Tried again today and the child is no longer interested because “the games won’t load correctly and when they do, it’s glitchy”. I can’t find the receipt and at this point, I’m sure we are way past the allowed return window anyway. I came back to read reviews and see if anyone else was having the same issues, but didn’t see any. Maybe we just got a defective one. I have no idea. I’m just reviewing what our experience has been, in case someone else goes through the same thing. I guess we have a paper weight now. Waste of money.

PREPARE to feel extremely sick.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had it for a week and almost ended up crippled from how sick the VR headset made me. What others dont mention, is that it generates HEAT. Yes HEAT, into your face, eyes, and brain and its so strong that after an hour it leaves a huge red outline on your face. Its as if you could feel the radiation seeping into your brain. Any sudden jerky movements with this headset on and you will feel like you want to barf. Eyes get extremely fatigued and your vision starts to noticeably drop within days of use. I now have trouble reading road signs in the distance when driving. Ask yourself if you really want to put such a toll on your body and health for a mediocre experience. There is simply so much more negative to write about this but I would only beg of you to do the research yourself. If push comes to shove, purchase this through bestbuy, use it for yourself, see if you also have these symptoms, and if its not for you, you can always return it. I only wrote this out of concern for you all and to warn you about things others don't. I have also read that the HTC Vive does much better to prevent these side affects.

Product Sucks
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best Buy had a great price and a wonderful return but oculus rift after much research (video card numbers, system requirements, etc.) into whether it would work on my sons gaming laptop failed. the HDMI cable plugs into the standard video card and not the nvidia video card inside the ROG. it doesn't state anywhere that oculus rift has to have a desktop or one of the only three laptops they "certify". The oculus software test we did worked on the laptop. Oculus did not support this.. I wish this was stated by Oculus on their descriptions for those of us who wanted to surprise their kids for Christmas.

Just not worth it yet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love all things VR, but the technology just isn't there yet. The headset is impossible to wear with classes. If you have a large head you can adjust the size, but not much, and light leaked through by the nose area. There are not many applications for this hardware yet. Maybe it was because I didn't have my glasses on but the screen resolution do not feel anything close to 1080p. You can adjust the resolution manual on the headset, but the improvement was minimal. I'll give it another try in 5 years or so.

Not a great experience
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.System was not compatible with my current desktop even though it is a faster unit . Tech support was not much help and my son was extremely upset. I spent numerous hours fussing with the hardware and no luck getting it to work. There was little on-line documentation and from articles I read it is either all of nothing. For the cost of the unit was more impressed with sony VR and games available. It was running out of the box and with out as much hardware required

Be aware other purchasers
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Knowing the product contents of other Oculus Rift + Touch bundles and reading other reviews, I had believed this item to include the Xbox controller as it is even required for the included free game, Eve Valkyrie. I ordered when the Q/A of this product said that it came with an Xbox controller, but it does not. I wish it would have more clearly indicated whether or not it was included, as having the controller with connectivity to the PC is very useful for certain games.

Looks cool
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Looks cool, packaged well. Headset didn't work out of the box. Will be returning to try one more time. Really looking forward to getting one that may display anything more than a dead black screen. It did kind of feel like your in space with no stars though. So there's that.

ISSUES !
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is really flaky and works only when it wants to. The display gets very warm. You have to calibrate it constantly. For the few shorts time I have got it to work, it was awesome. Wish I had held off and waited for them to get the bugs worked out. Like a month after I bought it Oculus discontinued it. Poor design

Not great
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My son bought these with his Christmas money but they didn’t work. He was told he needed another piece so he bought that too but still didn’t work. He returned the oculus for a new one and it still didn’t work. He returned the oculus and the other piece they told him he needed.

Headset too small
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for my boys ages 13-20 and was disappointed that the head set was too small for the 17 and 20 year olds. Great system if your head isn't too big. Unusable for us.

Returned
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought both the HTC Vive and the Oculus. The Vive is far superior with room scaling so we returned the Oculus. If you’re in the VR market, go Vive!!
