Don’t be fooled with megapixel and/or sensor battles out there. This gear is a powerful beast, image quality from a micro four thirds is superb, I was able to print 16x30 no problem,
If I want bigger than that, I can because of its 40mega pixel sensor shift capability of this camera. Ibis is the best. Very good for sports with the speed of this camera’s auto focus and travel because it’s lught weight and am able to carry 2 primes and my 12-40 f2.8 pro lens. At the end of the day, what makes you good at what you do is to know how to use your gear.

Purchased in September and took on vacation and had fantastic results. Along with being very light weight the camera and lens produced photos as good if not better than my heavy Nikon gear . I will be purchasing more Olympus and Panasonic lens in the near future.

I was initially concerned about the price but had read so much about it. I had used Olympus digital cameras many years back before moving to Sony, Nikon and Panasonic. I always had good experience with them. I have used combinations of 4/3 Oly Zuiko and Panasonic Leica lenses so far with no issues. I really like that I can use both since I eventually plan to get the Pany GH5 for video. Getting really great results and I am still learning. Once I get up to speed, I can't wait to see results with some of the PRO series zoom lenses. I wanted to check results on lower end lenses before investing any more into the system. The lower end lenses are keepers too.
I had resisted buying it because I did not see it anywhere. Then my local best buy store brings it in and I was sold after 1 hr with it. Subjects I like to shoot: nature, sports, airshows and the usual candid family photos. I also do some limited 4K photo/video for family.

This camera is a little pricey but well worth the money. The 5 axis image stabilization works great and the camera focuses very quick.

Work with FT lens and that is my reason to buy
Shooting speed fast. Like the electronic shutter.
High resolution mode is good
A lot of other features similar to competitions
Still feel heavy with external flash and FT lens.
Battery life shorter than E5

Doing my transition from a SLR to mirrorless... Great camera, compact, lightweight. Optics are extremely sharp (60mm macro) … Trying to absorb and learn its menus, which are quite different from my previous camera. Will require a lighter tripod (from the one I currently use) and some $$ to get two more lenses. Very enthusiastic with this purchases!!!

Buying camera is tricky, you have to know what you exactly need. This one has smaller sensor, but small body with changeable lens. Cons is high ISO performance. Pros are too many to list.

This camera has a large number of features-will take a while to learn it all. And mirrorless is so much lighter than SLR! Its an older model but kept current with a recent firmware update.

I had an Olympus OM-1 film camera back in the 1970s, so I was attracted to the OM-D system partly out of nostalgia. :-)
I like the design, compact size, and quality of construction. I have several lenses - two of the Pro series zooms (12-40mm f2.8 and 40-150mm f2.8), a 60mm f2.8 macro, and a 17mm f1.8. The E-M1 has lots of features, and I'm still learning them all, but so far it's been a great camera.

I've read many an article regarding this Olympus camera and almost everyone one positive. This micro 4/3 image machine is a masterful workhorse. There may be a setting in there somewhere that makes your morning coffee as well (LOL). I own cameras from Nikon, Sony, Panasonic and now Olympus. They are all good in there own right, but this little gem was worth the purchase. It may be a little much for beginners, but it will worth the study to shoot great images. The format offers smaller and more affordable lenses and don't worry about the naysayers, this is a pro camera that you can easily print 24 x 36 prints without loss of detail.

Within a day after getting the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II camera body, I was up and shooting. Not that I'm a master of this camera by any means. There's so much to learn about how this baby operates. But each time I take it out to shoot, I learn a little more about its features and what it's capable of. I'm completely satisfied with my purchase and look forward to getting to know this camera for years to come. Thanks, Olympus, and thanks, Best Buy!

I purchased this camera in December 2017 for the holidays. I am a long time Canon user, owning several bodies and a significant collection of "L" lenses. Suffice to say that my 1D (x)'s have taken me everywhere. Over that last years (several), I found myself just using the camera phone and not my Pro-Gear; to the point that it just sat there.
The weight, size, and other factors let me just to walk away. Fast forward 2 years ago, and a long vacation trip. I purchased the Sony (A6300) with some good lenses. Mirrorless, experience in my past was horrid but, the Sony performed well. That camera system was lighter and much smaller than my canon but, never felt a "connection" with the system. My best description of someone it felt like a software company made a camera and not the other way around.
The Olympus E-M1 Mark II has been that camera (It doesn't solve everything) that I take most often and everywhere. It's been to a severe and long-lasting downpour in the Appalachian trail, with no protection for over 2 hours. It's been dropped on a tile in a bowling alley, it's been in freezing weather with Snow..still going without a single issue.
The Single focus is blinding fast (faster than the Sony). There's virtually no shutter lag, the creative modes (live time and live composition) changed the way I see and capture moments. Not carrying a tripod because of this mind-blowing IBIS is makes me take the camera everywhere. It's NOT a "Night Ninja"; meaning FF (Full Frames) still have an edge on paper but, for street photography at night...it's incredible (if you like the film look like I do and hate the surgical look). Nobody notices you, so no one is possing or angry.
For travel, the main reason I bought it...imagine carrying 5-7 lenses, camera, spare batteries, chargers, memory cards/readers, backup drive, and more on a trip...and it's less that 8LBs!!!!!! The C4K video is impressive and Capable of 237Mbits (higher resolution than the sony's), and with the IBIS it looks like you have a gimbal while walking.
No to the downside...video Continuous Autofocusing at night while tracking is not as good as the Canon or the sony...the Eye tracking is not as good as the new A7III sony. Battery life is about 488 (low- lots of 4k videos)-780 (avg with some footage) and 900-1100 (with no video).
The primes lenses (45-75mm) none pro are genuinely amazingly sharp. The 75mm is as good at my Canon 70-200 L v2 if not better (the Bokeh)...the 12-40 F2.8 Pro is the leading workhorse...and stay's on the camera 90% of the time. I know own 14 Lenses (Olympus, Panasonic, and Laowa)...and the M4/3 (Micro Four Thirds) platform works amazingly!!! In Europe, you'll find places that you will NOT be allowed in with a typical DSLR of the Mirrorless FF (the lenses are about the same size on FF mirrorless as traditional DSLR's). In Certain Park tours in Africa the FF with command a higher "Tax" or entrance fee. I can take and hand hold an 800mm (Panasonic Leica) zoom all day. Try walking around with an FF, 70-200 F2.8, and a 24-70 F2.8 and a wide angle (all fast glass)...tell me how you feel at the end of the day. I typically only have 1 lenses for street photography...and maybe 2 for "Urban/city" travel (add a super wide angle)...so its not just about giving up light dominance (for pixel peepers), it's not about walking away from 14Bit color, it's not about having less dynamic range. It's a compromise and acknowledgment that my 20MP is enough for my medium and needs. I post mostly online...My audience is online, so I'm deliberate on the use case and in that the Olympus ROCKS! The Pro Capture feature is great. So many times when you hope you reacted fast enough, you actually didn't. Now it's hard to miss the shot. Battery life is so much better than the 5 mkll.
