Wonderfully acted and directed! And the score is so beautiful... Cinema at its finest. The extended edition fills in all the plot holes from theatrical version, but this bluray edition comes with both director's cut and theatrical... so Enjoy!

I haven't seen this movie in ages. Always wanted to watch it again, but decided to hold off until it was on Blu-ray. Now, my wish has come true.

Finally, the entire director's cut of this classic portrait of New York gangster life, with new footage not seen in other earlier versions. A vast panorama of the lives of a collection of NYC hoods, told in a non-linear fashion (that skips around from the '20s to the '70s) that is ultimately fascinating. Upon its first release, the studio couldn't make heads or tails of it, and, against the violent objections of the director, re-edited it in chronological form, leaving out a ton of detail in the process. It was a total disaster. After it was deemed a complete flop, Leone finally put it back the way it was meant to be seen, and a classic emerged. Phenomenal experience,

Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone DO IT AGAIN!

It will never compete with this dynamic duo's masterpiece "Once Upon a time in the West' yet here they have blended their talents to produce a very good movie of the fictitious biographical story of how 'young neighborhood street gang punks' become 'older neighborhood gangsters'.
It's almost typecasting when Director Leone lets DeNiro play himself as the dumb gangster and James Woods as the conniving gangster. Yet, it pays off dramatically by letting them play themselves in this ficticious story of young punks growing up to be gangsters.
Interesting directing and music from a proven team with the help of more contemporary acting by the cast. If you enjoy the premise of how young punks become neighborhood gangsters than this is the story for you.
Ennio Morricone's music again enhances, and drives, without words, the drama and the story.
Great Best Buy pricing for a Blu-ray, HD audio video.

Being a movie buff, I was surprised I had never seen or heard of this movie before. So I purchased it with no hesitation. It has a great cast (De Niro, Pesci, James Woods, Tuesday Weld, Treat Williams, etc.) and even though it moves very slow at times, it is a good flick. But I failed to notice that it is the Director's Cut which, in most cases, means an extra 12 or so minutes. Not so in this case. The original US version running time was 139 minutes. With the addition restored footage added to try and capture Sergio Leone's vision as well as the deleted scenes put back in, this movie tops out at almost 5 hours (269 minutes)! One of the rare Blu-Rays that needs to utilize two discs. So make extra popcorn before you put this one in...

Sergio Leone's sweeping epic runs close to 4 hrs and yet it is a must see for anyone interested in a captivating, time journey through lives. DeNiro stands out in another great performances spanning a lifetime of experiences, through flashbacks, flash forwards and even time in motion segments. Yes, it's long to be sure, but it's not boring at all. But you must be patient with it. When it's over I feel secure to say your will have seen something special. No, this isn't GOODFELLAS or even the original GODFATHER, those are masterpieces, however, this does come close, and is well worth any serious moviegoers time and money. See it.

"Once Upon a Time in America" is a must see, a must own, and a must watch again film. If you enjoy true crime films, than this one will definitely fit your collection. The story is marvelous, it's what Sergio Leone wanted us to experience, as the development of childhood friends grow up and enter a lifestyle of crime, luxury, passion, and betrayal. Plus, this film includes the extended version, even better because one can now enjoy to the fullest the version that Sergio Leone wanted us to experience.

I bought this to replace a DVD (better video quality). This movie is pretty good, tracking a story arc that spans decades. Love the first portion of the movie most of all, but overall I found it compelling (enough to own copies in multiple formats). Casting is good, photography, writing and direction top notch. Good one for the collection, and a must have if you're a gangster flick fan.

Once Upon A Time In America is an American clasic gangster movie that is very long (especially the extended cut, we're talking 4 hours) but very entertaining. In order to watch this movie I have to add it to my planner for one of my days off that I don't have to run any errands. Robert Deniro is great in this movie and solidifis his status as one of the greatest gangster /mafia actors.

Great, GREAT movie. It gives you the option of watching with or without the deleted scenes, and at first when watching the version with the deleted scenes, I thought it was bad quality with the movie transfer, but I quickly realized there was no problem, they do mention that some of the deleted scenes could not be restored fully due to the damage/aging of the film masters. Loved it!

But it’s still great! De Niro is just magnificent, I still haven’t finished it, but what I’ve seen so far is just great! Pretty much live every other mob movies it feels the same and you can foreshadow. It’s still good tho after you see parts unravel
