Great bang for your buck receiver when on sale here at Best But.

Great value and quality item. We bought it to replace an existing receiver that needed updated. This new one was fairly easy to set up for us inexperienced buyers. Highly recommend.

This receiver completely fits what I need it for. My old receiver went out earlier that day & I was glad I was able to find one in store. It has most major formats & is ready to go for Next Gen systems. The only thing that is bad is the fact that Onkyo is charging a premium for actually having a receiver available atm. This was supposed to come out at $499, so I guess supply and demand even tho it’s lousy on Onkyo’s part. Other than that I have no complaints.

I bought this online as an open box item, shipped across the country. The price was very low for a supposedly "Excellent" product.
First thing I discovered is that the setup mic was apparently not working. Worse, though, is that although the receiver could output test tones to my powered sub, I could not get it to output to the sub when actually playing content. The bass response to my front speakers also seemed weak.
I thought this was some setup issue, but no changes to sound modes, crossovers, speaker setup, etc. could produce any change. I kept researching this problem and troubleshooting, unfortunately past my short return period.
No, problem I thought, I'll make a warranty claim. Nope, Onkyo doesn't honor their warranty on products sold as open box or clearance.

This is a great receiver if you do not need two zones to be independently volume controlled. In my home, I have two outside speakers that are wired into this receiver as all the wires come to one spot in my home. I wanted the ability to be able to be playing content inside as well as content outside. In trying to turn the outside speakers louder, the only way that this could be done is if I also turned the inside speakers louder as well. It can also be done if I switch the receiver to only play sound on the outside speakers. Because this receiver doesn't have true multiple zones for the speakers, this is not possible. I talked with best buy support as well as the best buy install guys to try and figure this out with this model, but they stated that this is not possible with this model. That being said, this is a great receiver that can push 4k at 120hz as well as 8k so if you need it for pushing your PS5 graphics, it can do that with no problem. However in my situation, I am returning and purchasing the higher model.
