Long length for portrait use. Great for NOT making people uncomfortable when taking pictures since you dont need to be close to them. And because the lens and camera system is small, that minimizes intimidation as well. The autofocus is FAST and silent. Great for stills and video. This lens is NOT appropriate for people wanting to shoot in tight spaces, you need room with this bad boy. Dont even try to capture children moving close up, they wont comply. Get something wider like a 17.5mm (35mm full frame equivalent) for kids and tight spaces. Also, the Bokeh (depth of field) is so shallow (professional) you can blur out undesired backgrounds at will, but be careful, taking group photos will require subjects to be in the same plane or close to it. But that is not unique to this lens alone, but rather the aperture and range of all lenses like this. I would recommend the 25mm 1.7 as a second lens and THEN this lens as the third. The 25mm will be used more often. GREAT at low light!

Amazing lens for the price. The 1.7 aperture is quick, very quick. And small enough to fit very well with a couple of other lenses for my gh4. Great and quick prime lens that won't break your wallet.

This lens is fast, sharp and does a great job in low light. Then there is the bokeh - just AMAZING! It is a small lightweight lens but the quality is fantastic.

Chances are you're comparing this to the Oly 45 1.8. I borrowed my friend's Oly 45 1.8 for comparison, and they are practically identical for manual focus video use. Auto focus is fast and fairly accurate for stills, but that says more about the camera body than the lens. If you need a fast, portrait lens native to M4/3, this is the one to get if you have a Panasonic body. If you have an Olympus body, get the Olympus.

If you have had a micro 4 thirds system, you'll most definitely hear of this lens. This is a must have for any mirorless camera bag.

This is a great piece of glass, its made mostly of plastic with a metal mount but the picture quality is amazing.

This lens takes a beautiful portrait on both the GH4 and GH5. Build quality is not as rugged as other lenses, but price and picture quality trump any negatives.

Love the stabilization. Got this over the Olympus. Good in low light.
