"Pearl" is a weird yet enjoyable movie that is worth watching on Blu-ray. The film tells the backstory of the murderous old hag that we meet in the first film. The visuals are stunning, and the performance by Mia Goth is superb. I can't wait for "Maxxxine" after watching "Pearl." "Pearl" is a must own.

I loved this movie! Mia Goth was great as always. The story was interesting and well paced. The end is fantastic and makes it a must see.

If "X" was an homage to 1970s slashers, "Pearl" is a Hitchcock movie from the 1960s filmed like a Douglas Sirk tearjerker from the 1950s. Technicolor palette, situated in 1918s during the Spanish Flu, fully and delightfully musicalized with a classic orchestra and slowly paced with tension and relentless murder scenes. Not because of gore, it's not that kind of story. It's the continuous and unstoppable descent of Mia Goth's Pearl into the inescapable madness of amorality. A great monologue and the final credits puts Goth in the map of new talents. A solid stylistic movie puts West into the list of directors to follow.

This is one of the best thrillers that I have seen in a long time. Mia Goth knocks it out of the park in the prequel to, "X." I actually suggest watching this first and then, "X." It makes, "X," so much better when you start connecting the dots from, Pearl and you get a better feel for how crazy Pearl truly is. I picked this up at Best Buy because they have great deals all the time. That and it was in stock and I had to have it.

This second entry in the Ti West X trilogy further explores Pearl's beginnings. Mia Goth shines in her element as the titular character. Trauma and tragedy forges Pearl's murderous nature, from innocence to impurity she IS a star. Pearl will die in ashes and like a phoenix shall give rise to MaXXXine. I eagerly await the next installment.

"Pearl" is a prequel to the horror flick "X", one of the most original (and nasty) gore-fests in recent years. It probably doesn't matter the order in which you watch director Ti West's blood-soaked saga starring Mia Goth, but if you haven't yet seen "X", start with "Pearl" to see how she became a walking nightmare.

I have watched this several times. Ti West paints a beautiful story from X to Pearl. Pearl is a great prequel from X and selves deep into the origin story.

Adore this film. Mia Goth gives what I would consider one of the best performances ever. You feel so terrible for this doe eyed, unhinged girl. SHES A STARRRRRRRRR
