I originally bought the tape that changes color but it doesn't come with the bridge that connects it to wi-if so I had to get this item

Combine Hue Starter Kit with Hue Motion Sensor component to enhance lighting options in your home. We use our kit to activate lighting in areas where it is difficult to get to a wall switch, especially when carrying groceries or other items to the kitchen or pantry.

one of the bulbs started blinking on its own, I ended up having to take it back to the local store and get a replacement, its been great for more than a month. the bridge is 2nd gen so as of now is the latest bridge there is, also it works great with 3rd gen hue color lights.

once this is setup it is working great! I had the TP link light bulbs before, but they each took up an IP address. I switched to the Hue and with the bridge it is only 1 IP address. Just wish it did not have to be hooked up via Ethernet cord??

The Bridge does not work with Amazon echo. Lights did not work with a lamp that had multiple switchs. Other then that it works great

The future is here in the form of Phillips Hue LED light bulbs. They can be just a bit easier to setup in my opinion but once setup, they work great. Siri handles it with ease and Amazon's Echo (Alexa) voice recognition makes its so much more awesome, Back to the Future kind of deal.

This starter kit was my first step to making my living quarters a smart home. Everything is automated and I just ask Alexa to do all the work for me!! Have added many more smart Philips Hie light bulbs and A smart plug.

The hue white LED starter kit is my first smart bulb system. I bought them mainly to set an alarm to help wake me up in the mornings, and it works great. The fact that more bulbs and other hue products can be added later is great. I will be buying me bulbs/switches in the future.

Product works well, as advertised. Integration with home router is seamless, as well as Phillips Hue App and Amazon Echo dot.
As far as the type of bulbs, I recommend just the basic bulbs. Ambience and color bulbs are nice, but not that different as far as functionality.

I wanted to be able to control my apartment's main light fixtures with my Google Home Mini, as well as on the go. This does that very well. The dimmable light bulbs sync well with Google and produce a soft yet powerful illumination. Very satisfied.

I bought this mostly for the hub to replace my Gen 1 hub due to support. Extra bonus that 2 bulbs were included, this allowed me to expand into another room for fun.
