I read other online reviews and the Phillips motion sensor is a very well-made product. It has low latency and you can set the sensitivity for daylight and motion. This is my second one so far and it’s easy to set up and install. We used to control hallway lights when one approaches.
You use the Hue app set up and configure. I would suggest using some tape and putting it in various parts the room to test out where it works the most effectively. Then when you’re sure you can actually install it on the wall. There is a round small cylinder that screws into your drywall. And then the motion detector attaches magnetically. It’s 2 inches wide and tall and 1 inch deep.

Good Sensor - wrong dimensions

I ordered this to control under cabinet lighting. I had a sensor to do that but it was much larger and I wanted something that would be less obvious under the cabinet. I only had about 3/4 of an inch depth to work with. Seemed like this sensor would fit but after unboxing it my fears were confirmed. The dimensions are for the 'box' part of the sensor, the hood sticks out farther and on the back is a large round base that makes this much thicker.
Other than that, I had it up and running in minutes. One of the fastest and trouble free sensors I've added to my network.

Wasn't sure we were going to like it, but we love it! Works fantastic. Easy set up and we didnt even need the mounting screws. Its magnetic, so we stuck it to our metal art above our kitchen doorframe.

I love this item. Works great and very easy to install and uses a magnetic bracket. This is the second one I’ve purchased. Great range and perfect for duel entry way. Very customizable for light settings even with multiple lights and rooms.

After looking a a few Youtube reviews I decided to get this for a hallway light area that my daughter and or wife always leave on when they get home or leaves for work. I'm still tinkering and adjusting it but as of right now the light is no longer being left on.

This is a fine product but, it still might not solve all of your problems. I cannot recommend it because of the price although that might depend on your use case. There are plenty of creative ways to set this up, and the "hue Labs" feature in the app open up these possibilities.

Adding a sensor to the Philips Hue system turns your smart home into a responsive home. No need to flip that switch...just your presence is enough to turn those lights on

I wanted to add some Phillips hue lights to my hallway so I could dim the lights at night. I then though about the motion sensor to allow the lights to be off but come on dimmed during the night. The biggest reason for this was to prevent wasted electricity keeping a light on in the hallway in case one if my children woke up and needed to come into the bedroom for whatever reason. This is really the perfect set up due to the fact that you can adjust the daylight sensitivity and the motion sensitivity. There's no wires needed and the mounting is super simple. Eventually I would like to get another for the upstairs bathroom as well in case the kids need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night.

I bought this sensor on Black Friday along with the Hue starter kit. It was really easy to set up and I love it. I have the sensor set up in the stairwell which leads to the bedrooms. Anytime it senses motion at the top or bottom of the stairs it triggers the light immediately

I use these in place of nightlight in my house. I've set them up in two different rooms where they can detect motion down either a hallway or through multiple rooms.
Coupled with a timer function in the Philip's Hue app, they turn on when they detect motion, and then turn off automatically a few minutes later.
However, I also have one setup as a dawn/dusk sensor so that it turns on a light in the evening while ignoring the motion detection settings. After a certain time, it switches the light off, and then switches over to the motion detection mode.

It took me a few tries to get this configured how I want it (using different settings for daytime and nighttime), but once I got used to the available options and created scenes to use as presets for the different times of day, it has been working great. After 11pm I have it set to use a dim scene to act as a hallway nightlight, but the rest of the time it is full brightness. But there is also a slider to adjust so it won't turn on if there is already enough natural light during the daytime. My only complaint is the price - although all Hue products have a premium price - and for motion sensors when this is on sale it is comparable in price to much lower quality non-Hue motion sensors.

I was able to snag this sensor when it was half off. After setting it up, there's no way I'd pay full price for it. It's pretty basic. It comes with a wall mount, which I used to attach to the basement wall. Then at night when my wife or I get home from work, the basement and kitchen lights will automatically turn on. At the discounted rate it's worth every penny. Only downside for me was that the batteries it came with died a day after setting it up. It was an easy fix though, and just required me to unscrew the back plate and add 2 new AAA batteries.

set mine up above my front door so my lights will turn on when i get home. its so nice to have the lights turn on automatically especially if i come home at night with my hands full of groceries or something.
You can set a time frame of when you want it to detect motion during the day and a time frame for afternoon. you can select which lights you would like to turn on and select a scene for those lights.
when the lights are on you can also configure how long you want the lights to stay on when there is no motion detected. 2 minutes, 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, 20, 30, 45 and 60

I like the motion sensor, it’s great for areas like the bathroom, kitchen or walk in closet, but it’s not cheap for what it does. Will it break the bank? No... but there are much cheaper options, only don’t work with hue.

Got this on sale and added it to my bedroom. Works really well and actually had to adjust it to not go off when moving around in my sleep.
It has two settings which you can be set as a night light for evenings and full light for day time. And you can adjust how many minutes you want the light to stay on with no movement.
The only flaw I noticed so far is sometimes if you just want the light on in the room and not moving around, I have yet to figure out a way to temporarily disable this to not turn the lights off.
