I bought these to replace an LG soundbar that had a wireless subwoofer that died twice and as a result had weak low frequency sound by itself.
These Polk's without a sub would be amazing but with an added subwoofer make a great home theater experience on a budget. Also their slick appearance and small size with wall-mounting support made it easy for my wife to approve of them in our living room too!

Yamaha 6.1 surround sound front L & R main speakers replaced (after 12 years) with these Polks.
Really nice. Rich full bodied sound with excellent distinction between lows, mids and highs.
Really impressive. Fills the room, 4K blue rays totally awesome. Just music: streaming, radio or CD EXCELLENT!
In the book shelf category I’ve seen $500.00 each. Yikes! In the under $150.00 a pair range these are your choice. No compromise, Polk would not sellout and slap their name on a cheap speaker just to get sales. This is a quality speaker.
As the main front L & R channels for our surround sound system these speakers are really impressive. I love being alive during these technology driven times. It means you can get an excellent product at a really fair price via the competing market place. And, Polk stepped-up for sure.
Unless you’re an audiophile already use to thousand dollar speakers you will love these for a long time.
Ps we have a 3 thousand dollar Khlips set-up in our entertainment room so I am use to listening to a very nice 7.1 surround system. So, with some sound knowledge I am definitely recommending these Polk Book shelf speakers.

Polk Audio - 5-1/4" Bookshelf Speakers - 3 pair! Welcome to the movies! I have a 7.2 Sony Dolby ATMOS surround sound system. These bookshelf speakers are better than The Sony entry level ones and cost less too. I have the set up as a left and right side speaker and a left and right rear set up. I've used the front two as high speakers with two tower speakers underneath. NICE set up.

Being used as part of our 6.1 surround sound system. Front L and R channels.
Could not be happier. Price point, size and quality are all perfect for our needs. Our living room is about 15x32 entertainment center on center wall (of 32’ walk) sofa and other seating across. The Polks accompany a Polk center channel, Yamaha Sub & back L/R/C (original equipment) part of the Yamaha system.
The front Polks are crisp and clean. They can be cranked-up too with no signs of distorting. Although it’s rare to get past 6 or 7 on a 10 scale volume control for movies, I have rocked it playing music - def great sound. A larger room may need bigger but a room 15x32 these Polks are plenty. Wow! Nice! We’ve been using them 2 years now before submitting this review. Excellent/recommended rating.

I got these to fill in as surrounds in my bedroom. I will say that I am quite impressed with the overall quality that these provide for the price. Whether you are a beginner or an intermediate AV fanatic, these speakers will likely do the job for what you need them to do. Sure we are not talking about a Hi-Fi system, but these are still fairly good if they are paired up to a good receiver.
The speakers do open up more once they break in. That break in period will vary for everyone, but give them some time to make a full decision. I have the hooked up to a Denon AVR-S700 series receiver and after a few weeks of listening I grow more impressed with them. I always catch myself looking around the room when I hear sounds I hadn't heard previously. TV, movies and music all sound much better with these bad boys as surrounds. You could probably even get away with using them in a simpler 2.1 setup as your main L/R channels and still enjoy them more than regular TV speakers. Plus they can be moved into other areas of your surround system as you build it up (which you most likely will, once the AV bug bites it is hard to stop).

Bought these speakers to replace larger speakers can't tell the difference but they have more clarity and don't take up as much space. A+ to Polk and Best Buy!!!

I would buy these again. They are small enough to hang on your wall and not look too much like they should be on a shelf. Good sound. Polk is a great brand and they do not let you down with these speakers.

I didn't have high expectations for these speakers. My original plan was to use them as rear speakers. I began listening to these in my room. I was pleasantly suprised when I played some tracks I was familiar. There was enough clarity to get my attention. No artificial boom, sizzle or spit. These created an audio feast at a fast food price. What they won't do is blast out rock & hip-hop at ear splitting levels. If you try that, they will distort and then burn out. Yes, they can get loud enough in a living room and that's what they will do when used with a good subwoofer. I found them good enough in performance to use them as front speakers for home theater. They're connected to our Onkyo TX-NR656 receiver.

I am using these as my surround speakers in my living room Home Theater System. Very, very good. I set them up as fronts just to see how they would sound and I was very impressed. I run Polk Monitor 60 Speakers as the real fronts. These would work very well as mains in a start up sysyem or smaller room. I love them as well as all of my other Polk Speakers.

I bought these speakers to replace the Front output of my Sony Sorround System and I am not disappointed in the slightest. Im pleasantly surprised by the crisp clear sound that these speakers put out even at almost MAX Volume when I'm playing my music. I'm so pleased, I'm seriously thinking about buying anothrr pair to replace the Rear Channel output of my Sony Sorround System. I would highly recommend these speakers to anyone who wants great sound for a great price!!!

I got this to use as me front wide channel on my set up and they do a pretty decent job amongst a set of Klipsch speakers. The feel ell constructed and solid. Beautiful finish look and a nice compact size. They do the job quiet nicely.

Good quality speakers from Polk! these speakers are an outstanding value! I replaced my Sony speakers, which were okay but very small and not a lot of sound output because of their size. These match up with my Polk center channel speaker and sound great together! Keep an eye on pricing, because I got them for 54.00 on sale an outstanding deal for a pair of speakers of this quality!

One can use these speakers with a mini amplifier to build a stereo system with no more than 100 bucks. And they sounds pretty good. Already recommended to my friends and help them build their audio system.
