This game is very engaging and lots of fun. I'm getting close to the end and I haven't yet hit a part that was too difficult. (With a previous Zelda game on the Wii the mechanics were very difficult to shoot an arrow from a horse and this was required to proceed). My kids love watching me play and are trying to play themselves. The game is what you make of it. You can work for a while to collect items, then when you get bored of that work on making progress through the story line.

So this is a massive game. I am always in awe of what they accomplished here.
When the game starts you are all but thrust into this world where you can just explore. I highly suggest slogging through at least a couple dozen hours of the story before really wandering, as then you'll be strong enough to do it efficiently.
The main issue I have is that there's too much content! I'll probably be playing this for at least a year.

I didn't buy into the hype since I've always been more of a Mario or Pokemon type of person, but I've played and enjoyed a decent amount of Zelda. I always prefer the 2D games over the 3D ones so I was reluctant to buy into the hype. I got the game the night it came out along with the Switch. I'm also not a huge fan of open world due to how non-linear it can get
From the opening cut scene I was immediately entranced by the visuals and just the scope of how big it all was. Suddenly I just wanted to explore every single inch of the map. The game eases the player into learning mechanics and the controls before allowing them to truly start their adventure. Music is pretty low key compared to most of the Zelda games, like when you're just in the wilderness, but when it plays in cut scenes it really does impress. Story is somewhat standard for the series but they tried to change it up so it didn't get stale.
It isn't as perfect as many news sites and reviewers are calling it, but it's quite the experience and adventure. I'm excited to see what direction the Zelda games go in next since I really think Breath of the Wild has a great foundation and the developers have a lot of room for improvement.
Must Own for any Switch owner easily

I have always been a huge Zelda fan and I was a little bit nervous about the open world concept and not being able to have a permanent weapon. Once I played this game I was in awe and I think it actually adds to the game play that your weapons actually do wear and tear throughout battle. This makes you really think before going into a battle and it seems to have been pulled off flawlessly. The gameplay, side adventures, subtle Additional gameplay features you find along the way to fit your playing level is absolutely incredible. Highly recommend!

Love this game! So many adventures and different levels of skill needed. Provides hours of entertainment. Great visual quality and brings back fun memories of playing on various Nintendo softwares with my dad growing up. I bought this for myself (female, 35 yrs old) and this is “my” game in the house lol my kids sit and watch me play while yelling out tips. It’s really fun!

I have never played a Zelda game before, so I can definitely say I'm not a fanboy. But I do like the genre of adventure RPGs, and Zelda: BotW gets it right!
It has just the right mixture of difficulty, open world exploration, and advancement.
The puzzles in the shrines are lots of fun and give you a great break from the monster killing and exploration, but wandering around the world is definitely loads of fun as well. It's really beautiful and fulfilling to find new things.
Definitely recommend to anyone who likes video games!

I never grew up playing the Zelda games at all so when I first saw this one release I jumped in and have had a great time. It does have a quaint approach to the gameplay where it doesn't feel as tight and rushed, you can take everything at your own pace. Just like more expansive games like GTA and Red Dead, if you can see it in the game you can go there. The presentation is wonderful and the graphics are wonderful on the switch. At home or on the road we have had a lot of fun playing this one.

If you bought a Switch, chances are you already got this game, but if for some reason you don't, just get it. Seriously. It has near universal perfect reviews for a reason. The change to an open world aspect adapts really well to the world of Zelda; you can lose yourself in it for hours. I've played it for over a month, and I'm still discovering new things. The gameplay is amazing, and the music, although subtle, really blends well.

One of the best games I played recently. This game offers open world exploration like none before. I have been playing this game for 3 months and I am still discovering new mechanics and pleasantly surprising gameplay elements.

Well so far, I love the graphics, the open world concept, and the mechanics. I played open world concept games in the past, but holy *bleep*, this is the most open world game I’ve ever played. Unlike other games where it is, but the main story takes you from point A to point B, this one, you truly create your own path. My only gripe, I wish it was clear how to defeat more bigger, cumbersome enemies, but at least you can run away from em.

Easily one of the best Zelda titles and probably the best game released in several years. The sheer diversity of things you can do in the game is almost overwhelming. You are given all the tools you need to beat the game in the first 2 hours and then let loose on an open world full of neat secrets and often brutal enemies.
I've beaten every Zelda game in the franchise, but this one has killed me more than all the rest combined. I would definitely recommend this to my friends, and anyone else who's able to get their hands on a switch.

The Switch is by no means powerful for a desktop gaming system but the power lies in the portability of the unit and over the last two weeks forcing myself to re-think my gaming expierence and figuring out when and where I can game on the go. Zelda is a perfect blend of open world exploration while allowing you to take breadcrumbs from Point A to B if you want to go more linear route. This is a breathtaking game and you can play leisure or hard core and both seem to be fun. I'm going the slower route and loving every minute of the game.

I haven't been able to put this game down. I've played every Zelda game released and this might be my favorite. It's very open-world so there's a ton of discovery and hasn't gotten boring after a month of play. The fight and camera mechanics are also excellent. My only complaint, if any, is the climbing. You don't need to push or hold a button to climb something which means sometimes you climb something unintentionally and need to press a button to release; I think it should be the other way around. A must buy game!

This is the best Zelda game yet. The new open world with food crafting concept is just so much fun. I also like climbing things. Lots of trees and rocks to climb. Doesn't sound fun, but it is! :) The game gets you going right away with a handful of abilities as opposed to the old style of slowly getting them throughout the game. I really like that. Combat is fun too and you see the characters you love and remember. Buy this game!

It's an open world game which means you can explore anywhere the map allows. There's not really a set path to follow like other Zelda games. You can do things in the order you want to do them in. You can climb as high on the mountains as you want. You can choose to just hunt for sapphires and pick mushrooms all day to sell at the market. I'd give this game 10+ stars if I could. It's crazy addicting so make sure when you start it, you have a few days off from work. This is my favorite Legend of Zelda installment so far.

There's no hand-holding in this game and you just jump right in. The core of the game is exploring and adventuring, and you'd probably find yourself spending hours just roaming around and enjoying the scenery. Play-style is very flexible, quests can be done whenever, and the fun-factor is boundless. This game can easily take a couple hundred hours to "beat." Everyone I've shown Zelda to ended up buying a Switch just for Zelda.

This game is incredible and I was late to the party!
Amazing story, visuals and highly deep gameplay mechanics, which is a what I expect from a first party Nintendo game. Game is too expensive considering it’s been 6 years since it launched. Only real complaint.
