This game took over my life. I'm over 100hrs in and the world is still exciting to explore.

When I first heard of the new Zelda game being an open world concept I was hesitant. Sure an open world is great! But that also means there are plenty of opportunities for the developers to let us down. Nevertheless, as I watched more and more footage of the game I grew even more excited and decided that I wanted this launch title in my Switch library on day one. I stood in line and attended the Best Buy midnight launch event. The rest is history. This game looks gorgeous, has an expansive map and is filled to the brim with things to explore, collect and do. I've had the game now over a week and have logged in a solid 70 hours (at this point I've put more time into this game than my actual job). And through those 70 hours I've never had a moment where I felt bored. The open world system allows you to travel wherever you want whenever you want. There is no side kick to hold your hand through the game. You're given a very brief tutorial at the beginning and then released into this massive world. The game encourages you to experiment with things and find your own path. There is no set path and not one solution to any of the puzzles and because of that every player can have a unique experience. The story is well crafted (from the parts I have experienced) and truly makes you feel as if you're on an epic adventure. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a solid gaming experience.

This is my first time playing a Zelda video game. I was impressed by how tight everything is. Open world video game until the point that you can go anywhere in the map a few minutes after you started it. Beautiful graphics and magnificent gameplay. My only complain would be that I expected a much better story and script, which it doesn’t have.

Whether you are young or old, Zelda newbie or veteran... Breath of the Wild offers one of the best adventures available in the medium. Period.
The exploration aspect of this game cannot be overstated...at times, the stillness and natural beauty of the game create a zen-like experience. Would give this 6 stars if I could. Nintendo at its best.

I have owned BOTW for about a year and a half now, and when I initially tried to play when I got it I wasn't into it. The game starts slow, and I didn't care for the weapon durability system. Decided to try it again with Tears of the Kingdom coming out, and I'm now like 50 hours into it. Once you set-up the main quest and get out of the first area the game becomes everything people hype it to be, and the game mechanics started to click. The world is gigantic and there's so much to discover. The last Zelda game I played was OoT when I was a kid, and I'm thoroughly enjoying my time now with Zelda again as an adult 25 years later.

This game is beautiful and definitely a lot to do I have played it for a week straight and still feel like I have gotten nowhere but I am still enjoying it. The one complaint is there isn't really a straight and narrow way to play so I have ended against some enemies I am not ready for and they make climbing in areas next to impossible but all in all have loved this game.

this is a great game. I know everyone else bought it for Zelda, I bought mine for pokemon (coming in November), but I picked up Zelda to see what the hype was about (never played a Zelda before) and wow. im having so much fun with this game. its not insanely hard, and there are so many distractions along the way from point a to point b. glad I bought this game.

Despite the fact that you're more or less thrown into the water head first without clear direction, this game is amazingly expansive and full of amazement. A visually stunning masterpiece, easily the best Zelda game to date. The story is captivating and thrilling, as are the puzzles and combat. A wonderful and refreshing take on the Zelda franchise, this is easily the best one yet.

There is no handholding in this game. You are told where to go next and then left to your devices. Explore that fiery mountain or trek through piles of snow. Just make sure you have the proper clothes ready! You decide where to go and when to go there. With lots of side quests and so many features to make the journey a memorable one, this game is perfect for anyone since it conforms to what you want to make it. Want it short? Go for objectives. Want it long? Find every collectable out there. Want to just cook food? Go for all the recipes! Want to fight things? Go hunting for enemy strongholds. This is your game to explore and get a breath of the wild.

I have not played the game, but as someone who has sat through many a-hours watching my husband play, the game is just BEAUTIFUL. Our niece who does not play video games since they can't keep her interest, actually enjoyed playing this too since it allowed her to explore the world like Minecraft did. Plus she loves horses. Thumbs up from the peanut gallery!

One of the best Switch Games in the Library. The best Open World, Immersive games ever made. Good for Zelda fans and people that never even heard of Zelda. The story is a brand new story that does not tie into other games. Feel free to play this game without any spoilers.

Everything about this game is amazing. The combat, exploration, story, and I personally love the score this game has but I know some don't. This game is for anyone to pick up and play, you do not have to know anything about Zelda (but it would be great if you did) to play this game. Looking forward to the sequel!

The level of detail and depth of the game is fantastic. As long as you're a fan of the Nintendo "cartoon" style of gaming, you will love this. The character movement takes a little getting used to but after a while it becomes intuitive. There's tons of side quests and just general exploring to do. Hours worth of gameplay.

If you are a fan of Zelda you will love it! If you are not a fan of Zelda not so much. The open world exploration is awesome. You are left to figure the game out on your own as there are very few hints or tutorials other than about basic gameplay. A lot of what you will find out will be based on subtle hints and a lot of trial and error. You will be doing a lot of reading because there is very little voice acting, as usual Link is mute and has no dialogue to offer. You can spend a lot of time just exploring and doing absolutely nothing by way of missions. You can hunt for meat, gather herbs nuts and fruit. Once you find a pot throw some of those ingredients you gathered in a pot and see what kind of meal you make. You have to be mindful of your environment as Link can die from being too hot or cold. I could go on but the bottom line is if you like Zelda in an open world with ability to freely choose to do whatever you like you will enjoy the game. If not I highly recommend watching some YouTube videos about this game before you buy.

This game is extremely fun, even for those who aren't fans of the Zelda series. the fact that you can complete objectives in whatever order you please, or just spend hours exploring Hyrule, makes this one of the best games available on Switch!

Have you heard all of the hype for Breath of the Wild? Not sure if the game will live up to it or not? Well, I'm here to dispel any reservations you may have about the quality of the first truly open-world Legend of Zelda title. You can go anywhere in the game any time you want. You aren't beholden to following the main story/quest. No 2 experiences with this game are even remotely the same, which is something that makes it so great. There is also enough content that you can put in countless hours of gameplay without getting tired (I personally have, as of writing this review, logged over 170 hours of playtime, and I haven't even finished the main story yet).
The gameplay is fun and challenging enough without being an absolute grind to do anything, and the graphics and in-game atmosphere are absolutely stunning. I've found myself on more than one occasion just sitting with the camera angled to watch a sunrise or sunset. It really is breathtaking.
If you were on the fence about adding Breath of the Wild to your collection, take my word for it and pick this up today. You won't regret if you do.

I already know I'll be talking to my grand kids about this game when I give my first "back in my day..." lecture. Engaging story, beautiful graphics, innovative game play-- everything you've read is true-- in spades. Favorable comparisons to Ocarina of Time are not hyperbole. Pick it up just to marvel at the consistency of this title and its game designers. Well done, Nintendo.

I freaking love this game. My 11yo daughters and I all play it. Even my wife enjoys watching. The amount of interactivity and exploration is great. Discovering new recipes, new things to do with the vegetation, new ways to kill monsters and climb mountains is awesome! Totally recommend this game.
