This is an awesome piece of Star Wars fanfare! The attention to detail that Propel has given this Tie Advanced Star Wars Battle Drone is amazing. From the out-of-the-box experience with lights and random movie sound clips to putting in the batteries and learning to pilot the drone, there are Star Wars nuggets I won’t spoil. This isn’t a common drone at all, in fact it leans more toward a speedy battle quadcopter. Don’t expect camera or high altitudes with this. What you can expect is a highly maneuverable Tie Advanced. There are 4 speed modes of flight - training, speed 1, 2 and 3 (fastest). I highly recommend going step by step through the included instruction book - which is a fun experience in itself. If you overlook how to ease into the excitement by properly installing the blades and beginning with training mode, you will avoid the disappointment that other reviewers may have expressed here. Take your time to learn it, and it is a rewarding Star Wars toy! The training mode helps with auto takeoff and auto landing as well as limiting height, speeds and maneuvers. Once you have the controls down, you can get into higher speeds. The included lightweight training cage is great for beginners, preventing blade and body damage. I haven’t tried IR battle mode yet, but it sounds like fun against the X-wing. If you want the visual laser beams, that is to be released in the future as an add-on. Two rechargeable batteries are included for the Tie Advanced. Note that the remote control requires 4 AA 1.5v batteries (which, unfortunately, are not included). Additional propeller blades and an extra set of wings are included. A mini tool is included for help in mounting or removing the propellers. Even a removable screwdriver is built into the remote control - lightsaber styled. Additional screws are also included. I am glad I bought this Tie Advanced and took on a hands-on experience rather than listening to reviews that had reported their problems (which sounds like a result of not following the included instructions). It is pricey and not necessarily a “drone”, but if you are a Star Wars fans that likes speedy quadcopters with such a detailed attention to Star Wars films, you won’t be disappointed with this! Oh, and the Tie Advanced detail is sharp, with a sturdy feeling remote controller! Star Wars fan? GET OR GIVE the Tie Advanced Battle Drone. May The Force Be With You!

Bought 3 different versions.Had to exchange this version twice but Best Buy made the exchange painless.Can’t express enough how helpful Best Buy employees were with this.This version doesn’t fly as well as other two but I find myself flying this one more than the others.This is packed with so many features that any Star Wars fan will love it.Buy one & you’ll have to get the set.One of the Best drones to begin learning to fly on.

Well - either you are a collector, and you put this drone somewhere in your apartment and enjoy the collectors light-up box - or you take it out a fly it. I am from the second group. After the assembly and putting batteries to the controller (not included - but there is a screwdriver hidden on the right side) - you can start up Darth Vader's Tie Advanced. Don't fly it inside - it's a durable little drone, but you need to get familiar with the controls. I used the protective cage (and I broke it already) outside as well. It's a fun drone, the authentic Star Wars music and feedback from the controller is a great addition. Aerial stunts with a push of a button are very very easy to do - and it looks awesome. Overall: I totally recommend it. Advice: - make sure you read the assembly instructions, otherwise the thing will not get off the ground! - for me the takeoff in training mode did not work - so I switched to the lowest speed and it was working like charm

The packaging on this is awesome and makes it fun to open. They are meant as collector items with the packaging but I have used this and another and they are fun toys. Longer battery life would have given this product 5 stars. Good thing they give you two batteries. Control batteries are not included.

Got the Tie fighter and the X-Wing for our sons. The out of the box presentation is exciting and setup quite easy. They really fly fast too! That said, the protective cage around the propellers breaks very easily on impact. We are looking for a replacement already as this one's taped up all over the place. Still fun though flying two around and battling it out ;-)

I bought this as a gift for my bf. He almost fainted when I gave it to him. This drone had so much potential and features. There is snap coming out soon where you can complete missions through your phone using the drone. The only thing is the battery.

Pretty cool but the other drones fly better this one doesn't handle as good

I'm new to drones, but it is fairly simple to operate. The sound effects, movie soundtracks and charecter interaction make this almost a bargain. Just opening the box is an event. Online support, used once already to determine battery life could improve, is good. Future 'gaming' locations I'm looking forward too. Check out the introduction online.

Absolutely love the Star Wars music and flight speed of this little drone

Cool Drones, fly extremely fast. the opening reveal is something every SW fan should experience. Every little detail was hit. Order Extra blades. There is an app to help train you on flying. loved the X-wing counter part so much i bought the Tie Advanced to balance the force in my office.

Got this one for my brother... The controls take a little bit to learn. When the drone brushes up against a wall or some other stationary object it's hard to steer it away and usually just falls down. Overall its fun to play with, especially if you have someone with another drone to do battle with. After a while, it will want to drift in one direction when you take your hands off the controls. As someone who has zero experience with drones I get the feeling that 100 dollars is rather cheap in the world of drones. But it's fun to pass the time none the less.

Only complaint, it requires a bit more control on maintaining altitude. Like the fact that Propel offers free replacement parts.

I bought this for my son for Christmas and he is going to be so excited and best buy price matched even to the black Friday price so I purchased a 2nd one for my oldest.

I bought both the tie fighter and x-wing drones for my brother and myself as a Christmas present. We didn't have time to battle them, but the unwrapping was epic. As a novice drone pilot, I enjoyed learning to fly. Only drawback is the limited flight time of most drones due to battery life. Extra battery and charging station is included which is a plus.

The packaging on this drone is amazing. It presents so well it makes you feel you are opening a unique collectors item. The decision to place the blades on the bottom of the drone means you have to have a flat surface for takeoff (ie not grass) but makes for a nice presentation as your TIE fighter flies around. I got both the TIE fighter and the XWing. The battle modes are real fun, but be sure not to shoot down your friend when flying over water. You will lose your drone. Lots of fun!

implementing the altitude restriction & beginner mode allows first time user to quickly gain minimum skill to control the drone. use of the protective cage is a must (while learning). suggest initial flights as an indoor experience to minimize product damage. adult supervision is essential. 6-7 min of flight time - recharge 25-30 min: consider purchase of 2 xtra batteries for a decent half hour experience.

Now you can fly like Darth Vader accompanied by his theme song and audio clips from the original movie. It’s addicting and you’ll have a hard time putting it down.
