Literally the most uncomfortable VR, screen is noticeably better than the Quest 2, but I'd say neither are worth it, the Quest Pro is better but I wouldn't say it's worth the price point

We are upgrading from the original Meta Quest to the Quest 3 and what an upgrade! Our account easily loaded to the new Quest 3 and immediately we were downloading the games we already have to the new spacious 512 GB hard drive. The rest of the setup was simple as always with the creation of your boundaries. The first thing we noticed playing even old games like Angry Birds was the picture quality with the upgraded resolution. The added sharpness to the picture adds even more to the virtual aspects, making you feel like you are in the game. Now for the mind blowing new feature, the mixed reality. The first demo game of shooting little moving balls while also seeing your living room and blowing holes in your real/virtual wall was amazing. Seeing something drop down through your ceiling is pretty cool too. We only played the demo game but can't wait to see what else the mixed reality features can bring for games. Another new feature that works well is using your virtual hands instead of the controllers. So far we have only used that feature with Batman but it really seems like the next advance for the future, using hands instead of a controller. The headset for this model is easily adjustable and goes from my adult head to the kids with a few minor adjustments. The speakers are plenty loud and tapping the side of the headset to go from virtual to reality is a great feature to have instead of taking the headset off to see what's happening around you. Speaking of our kids, besides playing games, they continue to use the new model to run away to virtual reality by watching videos on Youtube. I have seen the other reviews of people worrying about the lower battery life. Yes it uses the battery faster, but you are now running a more powerful device so its a fair tradeoff. The good news about charging is the connection to charge is USB-C so its a simple cord and not cumbersome. Overall we are blown away by the upgrade and would suggest anyone else thinking about it to go for it.

TLDR - If you’re interested in VR or have an old VR headset and want to upgrade, the Quest 3 is sooo good!* I had only dabbled in basic plastic VR a few years ago and had never really messed around with real VR until I got this Quest 3. Right away, even during setup, the AR floating menus were great with keeping tabs on what's around you, and helping me get used to the experience. Being pretty big into sports, I first tried watching some highlights of games using Xtadium, not a bad experience, but not exactly mind blowing. Being courtside on an NBA game is at least a view I will most likely never experience, so that was quite neat. I then tried the Batman game, wow what an experience for a VR noob, I was caught off guard and definitely terrible at the controls, but it was cool punching dudes out, tossing your batarangs, grabbing on the rungs of a ladder, and more once I got the hang of it. (I’m still terrible) Where I feel like the true best experience I’ve had so far was the puzzle type games, more specifically I am an escape room junkie, and I was able to play “I expect you to die 2”. WOW, what a blast, it was SO easy to get lost in the spy world for a bunch of hours! (I died a lot) I then tried plugging it into my desktop since I have a higher end system. (7700x + 7900XTX) WOW steam VR is also AWESOME with the Quest 3, but one massive caveat for me, (and possibly others with annoyingly weak stomachs) everything I had been playing so far had chunky movement, which I felt was annoying so I searched out a demo that was a smooth first person experience. OH BOY was that a bad idea, I got SO nauseated after just a couple minutes of moving around I had to stop! So yea, I learned a lesson, if you have motion sickness issues, only play seated or “chunky” movement games! Otherwise, GET A QUEST 3, it's SO FUN! Can’t wait to have my family/friends test it out over the holidays!

To start, I am by no means a veteran of VR. Getting this headset opened up a whole new world for me and it has been so much fun! Games are immersive and movements are smooth, which was a little surprising given the small form factor of the headset. Batman Arkham Shadow has been exhilarating to play. I'm a big fan of superhero games and this combo takes it to the next level. The combat keeps you on your toes and the storyline keeps you hooked. It feels cool to be digitally transported into a different universe and physically in control of your character. I'd also like to add playing Among Us with this headset has been EXCEPTIONALLY fun. It's a completely different game and it's SO immersive. The best part is that I'm just getting started! There are so many more games to play. I'm looking forward to further utilizing the 3-month free trial of Meta Quest+! Comfortwise, I'd say it's pretty good. The cushion isn't bad and I like that it has a fabric cover instead of a rubber or silicone one. That said, if you wear glasses like me, I'd recommend getting some lenses because wearing your glasses under the headset is not comfortable in my opinion. The battery life is only an issue if you're not near an outlet and like to game for long periods. I average about an hour but I didn't find any issues using the headset while plugged in. Overall, I'd say for everything you get under the hood, there is no competition. You will not be disappointed with the Meta Quest 3. There are so many new experiences to be had and there has never been a better time to join the fun. 10/10 recommend!!! Now, don't mind me, I'm heading back to the metaverse. Maybe I'll see you there!

This is my second experience with VR. My first was the Samsung one that I got with my S8+ phone many years ago. It wasn't anything close to the Meta Quest 3. You snapped your phone into the headset to have VR. This being a complete standalone VR headset is miles ahead. First, after the initial setup, I set my home as the spaceship. Then I played the game from there. It had me map the room that I was in, which was simply walking around and looking around the room so that it could see the obstacles. I was in my living room, so the couch, coffee table, Christmas tree, end tables and TV were all mapped out. Then the game began. A little space ship broke through the ceiling. Pieces of the ceiling that were broken then landed on the floor, and some landed and stayed on the ceiling fan. Little fuzzy balls started cracking the walls and coming into the living room. You then shoot them to collect them. By the time I was finished, most of my walls were gone, revealing a completely different world behind it. It comes with Batman: Arkham Shadow (not my normal type of game) so I decided to try it. I've got to say, it's amazing. Although I typically play FPS (Battlefield) and racing games, I was drawn into the world. Actually being in it changes everything. Being able to turn your head to look around versus pushing a joystick was great. It's a lot more realistic to how things work in the real world. To climb a ladder, you reach up and grab a rung and pull up, then put your next hand on the next rung and climb. I will say that some motions can be tricky. For example, I play sitting down. Your Batarang is on your belt, so you're supposed to reach down to your waist to grab it. While sitting down, reaching down to your waist doesn't move your arm far enough for the game to know that your hands are at waist level. I spent 5 minutes just trying to grab it before finally giving up. If I stood up, it was no problem to grab it. That takes you out of the experience quickly. The Meta Horizon Worlds are interesting. You can play mini games, watch concerts, and explore a lot of other things to do. I went to VR experiences and watched people climbing Everest. It was like you were right there with them. Looking around from the top of the world was amazing. A couple of downsides for me were the experience with the Batman game not knowing that I was reaching for my belt, and occasionally the screen is off-center. The only thing I can come up with is if you are not looking straight ahead when that screen comes up, it will be off-center. You then have to go into the Quest menu and reset the center point. There are features to help avoid motion sickness, which can easily occur with VR. I did notice on a longer play session that I did get a little nauseated, so I just stopped for the night. That feeling did last for about 30 minutes afterwards. There is so much to see and do. From playing games, to watching TV and movies, I've only begun to scratch the surface, but my time with it so far has been amazing!

The Meta Quest 3 is a must have over the other models. The crispness of the display alone is a must. I was surprised how clear everything looks. It does a fairly good job of displaying your environment for AR purposes. It's easy to set and detect your boundaries so you don't accidentally bump something while your fully immersed in VR. It has an extender to accommodate glasses which worked really well. I would of rather had some lenses like drone goggles have so that I don't need glasses but this was a good compromise. I didn't have any issues with fogging. It's a little heavy on the head but manageable. It sounds great with the speakers right next to your ears and adds to the immersion. A few cheap things, I thought, were the straps on the controllers, not sure they could of gotten a smaller cord, and the headband. It was comfortable enough for just being webbing but I would of liked a better way to adjust the tightness. Maybe I'm just spoiled by drone goggles but there's better ways of adjusting tightness than just sliding some webbing around. It does get the job done though. I played the included Batman game and it was a lot of fun. I could only stand about 30min at a time due to motion sickness but I think that's just my problem. It worked well as a VR game and you could easily play it sitting or standing up. Definitely be careful of your surroundings when punching though. The goggles will tell you when you're getting close to something but they can't stop you from over extending a punch. You also are getting attacked from all around so you will find yourself flailing during combat. Everything felt very natural playing it. The other game I tried out was a free roller coaster game to get something more immersive and less action. It was cool being able to look completely around you and experience the ride. Personally I also enjoyed being able to watch movies on Amazon Video. With the clear display and it being big and right in front of you it was pretty nice. It also had a curved mode to make it a little more cinematic. If you have a small TV or want to be able to watch something different than the household, I think this is really good. I didn't see anywhere to redeem 3 months of Quest+ though. You can use your hands and gestures or use the controllers for certain activities. The controllers are very ergonomic but could use a bit more texture to them. The battery life is ok on the goggles, I had to charge after maybe 3 hours of intermittent use. I would recommend these for some next level gaming. Be mindful of your motion sickness. I don't get motion sick very often with car rides or taking cruises but this VR affected me. I've heard the more you do it the better your stomach will get but I haven't used these long enough to validate that truth. Just a warning if you already know that you have motion sickness problems. Also I think you really need to get a case or a charging stand for something this expensive to keep it nice and together.

The Meta Quest 3 is much different than the first round of VR headsets. For example my first VR headset needed to be plugged in to a capable gaming computer in order to function. The stand alone headsets were not any good. The Quest 3 is a very different story, especially when it comes to playing games on it as a stand alone device. The Quest 3 has a very nice display with a field of view of 110 degree, which delivers a phenomenally immersive experience. I have gamed extensively on an ultrawide curved gaming monitor and this is by far more immersive. The design of the Meta 3 is solid and comfortable with fairly even weight distribution. One item that I was not used to is the use of mixed reality where you can interact with the real world while in VR. This is a game changer for me since one of the common issues I found was running into things or hitting things as I was playing games. I really nice feature is the fact that you don’t need to use the controllers to utilize the Quest 3. There are a specific set of hand gestures to at let you manipulate the Quest 3 controls which is amazing. The one thing is I wish the Meta Quest 3 had better battery life or at least a replaceable/swappable battery.

The Meta Quest 3. Is it worth upgrading to it from the Quest 2? Well I've owned the Quest 2 for a couple of years now and I can say that, for me, the upgrade is worth it. If you don't own a VR or haven't owned one before, you may choose to go with the Quest 2 since you can get it for a really good price now. Not a bad idea to make sure you will enjoy the experience before spending more on the Quest 3, especially if you are (or even if you aren't) prone to motion sickness. I'm not typically bothered by it, but something about being in VR and moving around when you are physically standing still does something to your mind that feels wrong. Maybe it's because I'm getting older because my 11 year old doesn't seem to have any issues with it. However there are plenty of enjoyable ways to experience and use VR that don't cause any issues for me. Watching movies, for example, is one thing that I feel the Quest 3 is much better for than the 2. With the increased resolution and the "pancake" style lenses, it's much closer to looking like it does in a theater. It's still not to the point of replacing your 4K Micro Mini QLED OLED UHD whatever whatever TV, but it's getting a lot closer. And as with anything else, some apps, games and content will look better than others. You will still see pixels in some things and others you probably won't. And the new lens fix a big problem I had with the Quest 2,which was the edges of the "screen" being blurry. You may still notice it a little bit at the far extremes of the image edges but it's way better than before. Being able to watch Netflix, Disney+, or any service you can access via a web browser without disturbing others or them having to watch too is fantastic. And I highly recommend checking out the Xstadium app. This is a really great concept where you can watch live sports courtside, from the 50 yard line or the endzone (on the field), and other locations inside of the stadium or arena. Another big plus with the Quest 3 is the increased storage. I admit my 11 year old uses the Quest 2 way more than I do and has filled it up to the point he has to uninstall games to add new ones. If you're a console gamer the 512gb storage may not seem like much, but the apps and games for this are nowhere near the 100gb+ size of some of the console games (at least not for the time being). But they will add up as you find more and more apps and games you want to try out, and that library is steadily increasing. Another big plus for the Quest 3 is the full color passthrough mode, or "mixed reality". There's passthrough on the Quest 2 (where you can see what's going on around you outside of the headset), but honestly it's pretty useless other allowing you to draw your boundaries. I liken it to old fuzzy black and white TV. You can can't see a lot of detail, and forget about checking your watch or phone. While the clarity of the Quest 3's full color passthrough isn't like looking through your phone camera or anything, it's leaps and bounds better than before, and you can actually use your phone and reply to messages, etc. And it's pretty cool to have a web browser, for example floating in front of you while you can still watch the kids or whatever else you might be doing. And I don't know how it does this, but looking at a light, like a lamp maybe and moving the browser or whatever other window in front of the light, completely blocks it as if you put a solid object in front of it. So it's not that things you see in VR while in passthrough mode are translucent, they are overlaid onto your real view of the world. There are also some pretty cool games and apps that take advantage of this better, full color passthrough mode, which to me makes this that much more useful, whether it's an app or game or even a virtual desktop. Another change is that the controllers no longer have the big halo at the end of them, make them a little lighter and more useful in some situations, as well as the hand tracking being improved. You won't be spinning, flicking, and moving things around like your Tony Stark, but it is nice to be able to use the device without having to have a controller in your hand. However not all apps and games work with hand tracking. It's just not quite there yet. And it does work better when you have plenty of light as opposed to low light. But here's the thing, the light doesn't have to be visible. It can be infrared light. So if you want to lay in bed and use the thing while someone is sleeping, just get an infrared light and "light" up the room. While the original versions of the Quest were not appealing to me yet, and though the Quest 2 was, but I found it underwhelming in areas enough that I ended up not using it much, I feel like the Quest 3 is now a usable, enjoyable device for me. It's not perfect, but it's a big step in the right direction, and what we'll be able to do in the next few iterations of these is going to be pretty crazy and fun. So I would recommend getting one of these and unless your expectations are not realistic, there are plenty of ways to enjoy this thing.

The Meta Quest 3 is quite the impressive piece of virtual reality hardware. The materials and build quality are top notch and the head set is comfortable. Normally things like this feel heavy and create pressure points for me, but the Quest 3 is great comfort wise. Everything is easily adjustable and the straps even accommodate a ponytail. As an owner of the Quest 2, I can definitely say the image is very sharp and crisp comparatively. Sound is great too. With the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 you get excellent graphics and clarity that certainly sets it apart from its predecessor. Additionally, the pass through visuals and graphics are amazing. I've got to say that it is such a trip how far technology has come over the years. Turning your whole house into an entire gaming world is just crazy. The augmented reality is amazing. The controls feel nice and responsive and the hands track very well. Really can't wait to try out everything the Meta Quest 3 has to offer... especially with the Meta Quest+ subscription.. An added bonus is you can also play Xbox game pass games with the Meta Quest 3! Overall, the Meta Quest 3 is an absolute blast and If you are in the market for a VR headset THIS is the one you want!

The Meta Quest 3 is amazing beyond all doubt. I tried the original Meta Quest when it first came out, but I have never owned another VR headset. After unboxing the headset, and charging it, the i then began the setup process. The setup process is very time-consuming, however, one of the great things about the setup process is the tutorial for people who have no clue how this thing works. It was extensive and I am very pleased with it. The reason why the process to set it up takes so long is because you have to set it up on your phone, then set up all of the stuff on the headset, then set up credit card info to purchase games, and of course, download the games. There are so many different games to choose from and for the most part, they are very low cost to free. The headset is easy to adjust and one of the great features when is you can cast the headset onto your phone. It is great for me when my child is playing Roblox because I can hear the conversation. The only complaint about the headset is probably the battery life. It lasts just over an hour, but if you use the battery saver it should last quite a bit longer. Otherwise, this is great for parents and kids alike.

This is the first VR experience I have had in a while now. First time I tried VR was when you had to use your phone as the display. This is so much better. Setting it up is quite easy and I like that it comes with physical controllers unlike the Apple device. Just my preference. Inside the box: The VR headset Two controller devices with one Double A battery included for each USB C the C cable and power adapter to charge it This is the one with 512GB of storage I'll start with cons because it's not much. It has plenty of apps it seems but missing apps I would like to use like Netflix, Disney Plus, Hulu and etc. it does have a YouTube App and I can watch my purchased movies through it so not totally a loss. While other apps i don't know much about and I'll have to see I mostly wanted to try this out for watching movies and just enjoying content. There is games though and you get the Batman game which is nice. Takes a bit to get used to but once you do I had fun with the game. It's definitely different than playing like a PC or console.

This Meta Quest 3 is my first VR headset that didn’t require being tethered to a game console. VERY impressed! I can see so many possibilities for this headset. Packaging was well thought out and intuitive. Setup along with my iPhone and the Meta Horizon app was a piece of cake as well. I found some short videos online that were helpful for getting oriented with the controllers and the headset buttons and adjustments to get a good fit. The included Batman Arkham game is pretty good (both of my young adult-kids like it as well). Downloaded a casino game (took a little learning, but easy then) and a really neat version of Tetris. My favorite so far is Xtadium in which I watched portions of a couple NBA games and a college football game on Fox. VERY cool experience (like you are there) and I can see this growing like mad across various sports the next few years. From a fit and feel, it’s not too bad at all. I didn’t think the headset was very heavy and after some adjustments to the straps, it feels fine. Very accurate I think with respect to motion and control. I didn’t think I would like this thing as much as I do. Definitely recommend and I think a pretty good value for what you get!

Upgraded to this version because I wanted the visual quality to be better. Worth the extra money for sure.

      Hi PatrickA

Thank you for the five star review! We're very glad to hear you're pleased with your upgrade to the Quest 3, you could almost call it... flawless?

The Quest 3 is still our most ambitious device to date, and it definitely shows in the quality! Along with this top tier visual quality, you've also got the addition of the Batman Arkham Shadow game and a 3-month trial of Horizon+ which will keep you busy for quite sometime and turn you into a seasoned Metanaut by the end of those 3 months!

Thanks again for the fantastic review Patrick and whether you're new to the Meta Family or not, we're grateful you're on board the Meta train regardless!
