I like the remote but it’s not easy to program and rca is hard to contact ..their app doesn’t work to sync the remote to the tv. I’m thinking about returning the item
Hello Alex - We’re glad to hear you like the remote, but we’re sorry to hear you had difficulty programming it. To clarify, there is no app required or available to sync this remote—it’s programmed manually using the included code list or the Auto Code Search feature. Detailed programming instructions can be found at https://www.rcaremotessupport.com, which also includes troubleshooting tips and assistance.

It didn't work at all, even though it was the same make as my TV (RCA). I tried pairing it multiple times, and it was utterly futile. I ended up throwing it away.
Hello Patty – It sounds like your review may have been left under the wrong product listing. The RCA Rechargeable 3-Device Universal Remote is designed to control TVs, streaming devices, and soundbars — not home phones as the title of your review and actual review note.

Pros:
1. Support for upto 3 devices is really helpful. One can easily control their TV, Streaming player and Soundbar/Audio using this remote.
2. Compatibility with multiple brands of TVs, Streaming Devices and Soundbars. We can either auto configure or manually configure using the pre-programmed codes.
3. USB C charging - I wish all the remotes have charging option available instead of removable battery. RCA has nailed it by choosing the charging option and that too USB-C. This is the future.
4. Quick access keys - These are extremely helpful. Especially the button for Youtube is not present in Roku. Apart from Youtube there are also buttons for Netflix(N), Disney (D) and Hulu.
5. Ultra thin - This remote is just ½ inches thin and weighs only 1.6 ounces (45 gms)
6. 40 ft coverage - This remote covers upto 40 ft distance. I have tested around 20 feet and it was working fine without any issues. So i believe it should work upto 40 feet far without any issues.
7. Battery life - Battery life as per the specification will last for upto 6 months which is exceptional.
8. Auto power off - RCA has really applied their thought in providing the auto-power off when any of the remote button is pressed for more than 15 seconds. Especially this will be helpful when the remote gets stuck in the couch. This will greatly increase the battery life.
9. Setup - Setup was overall easy. Especially the Roku was preconfigured. I had to just configure my LG TV using the Auto code search which took about a minute. For my Bose Soundbar it took a little over 2 min as i had to key in couple of different codes using manual setup.
Note - It is better to charge the battery fully before using it. I charged it for about few hours before the charging indicator turned from red to green. Also we can reset the remote anytime by using a paper clip in the Reset hole present in the back of the remote.
Cons:
1. Buttons - Buttons are a bit hard especially the Up, Down, Left and Right directional buttons. RCA should consider changing the design of these buttons as it is sometimes required to press the button couple of more times in order to operate it.
2. Sensitivity - Sensor sensitivity is just average. We have to point it straight to the device or 10 to 20 degrees away in order to operate it. If it is bit more than that the Remote doesn't work. I wish the remote sensitivity was as good as Roku remote or atleast half of it.
3. Manual setup - Manual setup using the pre-programmed codes is a little tough as it requires us to have the instruction manual to know which button is for which number. It would have been nice if the numbers were mentioned in the keys in a smaller font to make it easier.
4. Not Backlit - It would have been nice if the remote had the Backlit feature which will be helpful especially in the night. But at this price point we cannot ask for more.
Hello, PamelaA – This remote must be programmed to your TV using either a direct code entry or the auto code search method in order to function correctly. As for Apple TV, its core functions rely on Bluetooth and aren’t compatible with traditional IR remotes like this one, though limited IR control (such as volume) may be possible through your TV’s CEC setup.

the remote didn't program to my TV, i tried multiple times to program it and nothing worked
HelloLissandraA - Sorry to read that the remote did not work with your TV. The remote is designed to work with most major brands of televisions but unfortunately compatibility can vary due to several factors such as TV model, firmware, and even hardware revisions.

Didn’t work at all - supposedly connects to all major brands- wasn’t recognized my the Sony I bought that is a year old
Hello JOSHS – Our universal remote is designed to work with most major brands of TVs, soundbars, and streaming devices, including Sony. We typically see great success with Sony products, but some models may require trying all codes in the Owner’s Manual or using the Auto Code Search feature for the best results. Please note, not all functions available on the original remote are guaranteed with a universal remote. If the device you’re trying to program is not a TV, soundbar, or streaming device, compatibility is not supported.

Took 6 tries to get it to work. “Enter” button NEVER WORKED
Hello Courtney - Thanks for sticking with the setup process s, Courtney. We highly recommend testing all codes listed for your brand to see if another offers better compatibility.

Does not connect to any device i have in my house.
Hello, LarryS – Thank you for your review. It’s unclear what you meant by “hold the codes,” but if none of the three remotes are working as expected with your sound bar, it’s possible the device may not be fully supported or only responds to limited IR commands. Some sound bars require specific setup modes to accept commands from universal remotes, and not all functions are guaranteed to be supported across every brand.

Stopped holding charge after roughly 20 days. Waste of $25, warranty process is difficult and a waste of time for a product of this price.

If you are looking to get this remote to use with a Roku stick, first you’ll need to make sure that your TV can control the Roku stick via CEC. This is a special mode that allows your TV to send signals to the Roku stick through the HDMI port for control. Even if your TV does have CEC mode, like mine does, it doesn’t mean that the TV can definitely control the Roku. After working on the settings, I found that my Vizio cannot control the Roku Stick via CEC and thus, I can’t use the universal remote to control it. While that means I can’t consolidate all of my remotes into one, at least I now have a means to cut down the amount of remotes to two. My original problem was that I had to use three separate remotes. The Roku Stick remote could control the TV volume before I got a Bose soundbar. When I connected the Bose, I found the only way I could control its volume was through its provided remote. I use an optical connection for it, so I can’t use the TV to control the volume of the Bose. The Roku Stick remote can turn the Vizio TV on and off, but it doesn’t have a button to change inputs on the TV. Now, even if I still have to use the Roku Stick remote, I can use the universal remote to control the TV to switch between inputs and control the volume. This is also great because the Vizio remote is really buggy. The universal remote seems sturdier and button presses relay commands better. On the Vizio’s original remote, I have to constantly keep hitting the button I want until the TV is able to receive the command. Setup of the universal remote was simple. I was able to use the auto code detect feature to configure it to use with my TV. The Bose soundbar resisted auto detect, so I used the manual code entry and it worked easily. I like that it’s rechargeable and that its charge will hold for a long period of time. (The product description states that the charge should last for 6 months, but we’ll see. Seems like nothing lasts as long as they’re rated for.) At least, if I don’t have to charge it for a month or two, I’ll be happy.

When I got this remote it made me realize how we went from a gazillion devices connected to the television to now only a few. This particular universal remote can connect to 3 device which at first you would think that that might not suffice, but the truth is most of us has consolidated our entertainment devices. 3 devices was perfect for me.
Unboxing I was astonished at how small and light this unit is. I have regular size hands and it felt very comfortable and after some use, I really appreciated that I could hold it and be able reach most buttons with my thumbs. I really love that this unit is a rechargeable remote with no batteries to fiddle with. If you're like me, you've dropped your remotes and had the cover pop off and the batteries go flying every where, and at my age, stooping under the sofa's to look for those tiny batteries was no fun. That in itself is worth the money for this unit. LOL. Following the instruction and programming the remote is quite easy, although using the different icon as numbers took constant looking at the number than the instructions book. It was a pain, but hey, I gotta only do it once. My house isn't very big so I had no problems with the remote not working from any distance. So far, I'm loving this remote.

The RCA Universal Streaming Rechargable Remote is small but packs a big punch when it comes to operating multi devices. Charging the remote for first time use was quick. The instructions and steps to start programing devices is quick and easy. I programed my Hisence SmartTV first by turning off device manually and pressing the TV button located at the top of the remote until you get a red light. The next step is to punch in the corresponding code for your device using the keys in the middle of the remote as numbers. I programed my Hisence SmartTV using the first code listed. My next two devices were my Roku Ultra Streaming device and my Polk Soundbar. I was so amazed at how effortless the RCA Universal Streaming Remote was able to recognize my devices. I can even switch between my Roku Ultra and FireTV streaming devices from inputs on SmartTV without any problem. The RCA remote also features Netflix, Disney Plus, Hulu and YouTube buttons for quick access. The RCA Universal Remote replaces 4 different remotes that I was using to operate my SmartTV. I am still finding useful tips and the RCA Remote being rechargable is a big bonus. I just plug the rechargable remote in the USB slot on the back of my SmartTV.

This remote remotes as a remote should. It does what you would expect for my simple needs and does it well. I don't use all the features as I only needed a TV remote replacement. I like the price, and it was easy to program. My only complaint is that the rechargeable battery is charged by USB cable. That means when it loses its power, I have to take it over and plug it in to recharge and I am left without a remote in the meantime. Some king of charge indicator would be nice. Hence only 4 stars.
