Install went well, no issues, but the tech explained that I had to hold the start button for at least 10 secs before the car would start. CompuStar's quick start card says I should only have to hold it for 3 secs, so I have a ticket into CompuStar to find out why the discrepancy. Also, at first, the tech had it set so I had to press the unlock button 3 times before it would work, so I took it back and had him change it to 1 press. You still have to wait a few seconds for the car to unlock - it's not as immediate as the factory remote. Not sure if this is another setting, but I will continue to work with Geek Squad until it works to my satisfaction or I just get used to it.

The unit is just hanging in my car on the floor and the part by the mirror as well. Can’t get anyone to call back to discuss this issue getting the run around. Not happy at all with this install

i used to shop at best buy frequently, but after my last experience at this location is will never step foot in a best buy again, so on cyber Monday I contacted the car audio install department about installing a remote start and keyless entry on my fiancee car for a surprise Christmas present, I wanted to ask a few questions before I purchased it, the first guy I spoke to wasn't helpful at all, so he had me talk to the head installer, after we spoke and I gave him the info on the car he looked it up and he stated that the kit would work but it would need an extra $30 relay, not a problem, I asked if any other parts would be needed and was told no that was it, I asked how long it would take to install and was told 3 to 4 hours, also not an issue, so I purchased the kit, set up a date to have it installed and that's where it all started to go bad, first started by best buy charging my card 6 TIMES for the purchase, took awhile to get that resolved, then on the day of the install I showed up early like my appointment stated me to but the installer was late, then I handed him the parts and paperwork I was asked to bring and had a look like he didn't know what it was, so after standing there explaining what it was he proceeded to tell me the extra relay was $70 and may be another $70 for an extra relay if it had factory alarm, I proceeded to tell him what happened to the $30 price I was quoted on the phone and no extra parts were needed and he told me "well if that's what I said then I'll do it for that" I told him ok thats fine, let's just get it installed, so he proceeded to tell me that he would call me when it was finished and I told him it's ok I was going to wait for it since it was going to take about 4 hours and he laughed and said " there's no way it will get done in that time, it took me all day to install one the day before" I asked what happened to the 3 to 4 hours I was told on the phone and was told on the paperwork and he just shrugged his shoulders, so he hands me paperwork and asks me to fill it out and when he pointed out that this approves the extra parts I brought up the $30 I was quoted and he said "well I won't go above $70 and call you if it needs more" so irritated I left the car there because I couldn't get my money back because if I could have I would have, anyways 8 HOURS LATER he calls me and tells me it's done and the $70 bill and keys will be ready when I get there, so when I got there I spoke to a Manager there and was told there was nothing they could do, pretty much I had to pay it, I've had remote starts, keyless entry, and even security system kits installed at other places and they always were up front about 3xtra costs and didn't take half as long, even the system I have on my truck being a remote start, keyless entry, with security, glass break sensors, tilt sensors, and proximity sensors only took the place I took it to not even 5 hours total, but yet it took best buy 8 hours to install a basic remote start with keyless entry, I even called a few places and was told that kit on that car should have only been 3 hours tops to install, I guess between the extra install costs, the time, and on top of all that the installer was unprofessional and just seemed like I was incoventicy him having him install a product I bought from best buy the whole experience just turned me off from ever purchasing anything from best buy again

I purchased an auto start kit and had it scheduled for over a week to be installed at the Longview, Tx store. I didnt receive a call until the day before install canceling my appointment because they just figured out they didnt have a certified tech for my installation. I was not happy to say the least. I had to reschedule at a new location myself because i could do it the moment they called and canceled with me. The other store was about 45 min to the Tyler location, but the tech there was exceptional and he took care of everything for the install in a timely manner. Just in time for my wifes B-Day gift before she had to return to work from her maternity leave. It would have been nice if we could have had an option to set up the AUX button to something in the vehicle without being told there is a seperate install fee, so we will have to do that at a later date. Overall my wife loves it so im happy!

I wanted to give it a 7.5 /5 but the survey wouldn't allow it. I purchased the unit online and thought I was getting a deal. Oh, no !!!! The installer mentioned somethings that were needed and offered a much better package for my vehicle cheaper... WHAT??? ( Most stores that I go to try to sell me something for more money..not BB.) I arrived early, no problem. I was taken in and the installation was completed. Afterwards, the installer went over the "how-to's" and had me try it to confirm that it was operable and fulfilled my expectations ( again, most installers will tell you that the job is finished, give you your keys, a receipt, and move on..., not BB)This is Best Buy and they continuously live up to their name. 95% of the reviews for BB... Geek Squad reviews is topping with 100% good. SImply Awesome Best Buy =SABB !!!!!

Gift for my daughter at school in Northern MN.

Got this for my daughter, as a Christmas gift.
This was installed on a 2010 Mercury Milan Premier.
She is in Bemidji, MN at college. And, it is damnnnn cold.
Like -30 degrees. It works great from her dorm room.
And, the 2-way feedback is great.
One thing that bothers me, is that I've had friends, and have read online that it ran about $30.00 to have a relay installed for either the heated seats, or to have the rear defog come on automatically if the temperature is below somewhere around 40 degrees. When I inquired, the installer quoted me the outrageous price of $85.00
Also, the installer took approximately 1 hour longer than quoted, because he kept answering phone calls, and talking to the other techs. That really irritated us.
But, he "let us know" that it was beyond his control.

I was hesitant to purchase this starter since I'd never heard of CompuStar, but it was a good deal with installation on Best Buys Deal of the Day, and reviews were solid.
I am super happy with it. The two-way system is great, since I can't see my car when I'm in my apartment. Hearing it chip back to know it started is so reassuring.
It also seems to start from a pretty solid distance. I can start it from my second floor office out to the parking lot without having to leave my desk, and from inside my 3rd floor apartment to the carport. I realize these are bad distance indicators for length, but the signal seems to go through walls well.
Overall, sitting in my house and starting my car when it's -4° is wonderful. 10/10 would buy again.

I had one of the Geek squad guys help me choice the correct remote start for my car prior to my schedule appointment. I picked up the product at the store and brought it to the appointment. I was kind of shady at first, cause the geek squad has to open up the interior but literally spent 2 hours at the shop and got it all day . The remote start is amazing. It is an every day life saver since it's cold outside. The best part is, I can start my car before leaving work and be confident no one will steal it cause of the automatic lock system when the car is started. I recommend this product to anyone that wants to save time on starting their car early in their morning or those who are always a bit late.

The at the Ridgedale Geek Squad auto installer team is the BEST. Greg is amazing. My mother died unexpectedly and suddenly on the morning of my installation. There is no way I could make my appointment, but I explained to Greg that I needed it done that day. If we didn't get in that day, there were no more appointments in the State of MN until the middle of January. This was a Christmas present for my daughter. Greg called every person on the list that day to ask if they could come in just a little earlier and made time for my daughter's car. I cried many times at his kindness. To say these guys are great at customer service doesn't do them justice. I just don't have the words for these two guys.

I originally ordered OEM unit and I called the guy at geek squad to ask if he would install it. He said he would but that I wouldn’t have to take it dealer to have the unit registered. I said okay and made the appointment.
When I got there 50 miles one way. He changed his story and said he wouldn’t install The OEM UNIT. I’m now out of 355.00 .cant return electrical items to dealer. So I ended up letting him install one of besybuys unit for another 65.00 out of pocket plus install fee.The car app only works half the time.

Overall the technician did a great job of installing my new remote starter and the unit works great. The only issue I had is with Best Buy's online service scheduling system. When I entered in the make/model/year of my vehicle and signed up for an install appointment the system told me that it would take 1.5 hrs. When I arrived at the store the technicians told me 4 hours, so I had to pay for an Uber back to my house. Not sure how the system got it that wrong but I was out the $15 and had to get a ride back later.

The folks at the Broadway Blvd store in Tucson did a great job on this installation. When I took the car in they let me know it would take longer than the 3.5 hours the online scheduler had estimated and that it would be more likely around 4.5 hours since they wanted to do a thorough job and not rush it. The extra hour was unfortunate but I appreciate they were upfront about it instead of finding out the installation was still in progress when I went over to pick up the car. The tech took his time to explain all the new features and to fine-tune the alarm before giving me the car back.
Overall I was very pleased with the experience.

Geek Squad installed my "Remote Start or Security System Installation" with excellent precision and great punctuality.
The geek squad technician was waiting for me as I pulled into their Coralville IA workshop.
He promised to deliver the car in like 60 minutes and when I was back the car was ready. He gave me a detailed demonstration of the remote start and off I was.
I have been using this for the past 2-3 years and it seems to hold well considering the severe mid-western winters.
I would definitely recommend Geek Squad.

I purchase this auto starter for my 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid because I live in Toronto and I hated the cold morning starts. It keeps the car running for 15 minutes which is good because the car is noticeably warmer when i enter. The only reason I didn't give it the full 5 stars is that sometimes the car will start without me knowing. I'm not sure if i am accidentally pushing the button but sometimes when I leave my car to go into a store when i come back it is running. Maybe i'm doing something wrong.

I brought a new /used 2014 Silverado .It did not have remote start on it which is something i really wanted, saw this one on sale with installation .It works well push the button and truck starts right up . The geek squad said it would take about 3 hours to install and they would text me when it was ready . Three hours later i am walking in and received a text to let me know it was ready .Now i am watching the flyers for a back up camera to go on sale with installation.

My remote start install was completed at the Harrisburg Best Buy. I bought the Viper remote start that was on sale Black Friday. When I called to make my appointment Tony explained to me that the Viper would require some additional parts not covered by the "basic installation". He suggested i upgrade to more complete (and more plug and play) Compustar model. So I did, and am happy I did! The install went great and they showed me how to use the system before I left. And a great feature on the Compustar is that you can use your factory fob to start your vehicle. This was an all around great experience!

The remote works great. I can be in the second story of the office pretty far away and still start my truck easily. The only thing that is bugging me is that as it starts the horn honks, then after the truck is started the horn honks again. i go to work around 6 am so I don't think my neighbors would appreciate me using it that early. I tried to call and ask if I could change it but the installer at best guy has been on vacation for 2 weeks. I will try again later.

I had the Viper 4806V installed on my 2010 F-150. The unit itself had a lot of great features which was very well explained by the associate. He walked me through every part of the install and the reason for enabling certain settings. I had them automate the rear defrost and heated mirrors upon start which will come in handy during an Ohio winter. Knowing that having it professionally installed made the product and service guaranteed for the life of the vehicle gave me ease of mind. Can't say enough great things about the positive attitude and knowledge of the associate.

Im not the type to write reviews, but this product is worth it. Got me an auto start system with installation for $300 dollars. Its a basic lock, un lock auto start does what it says. I can now start my car from my house while im getting ready to go to work. When ready my car is nice and warm so i dont have to sit in my car and warm it up or wait for the heater. Everything is ready to go. Like i said nice product just be ready when you are having it installed. Took the tech guy like 5 hours, but i am pleased with the end result..

I cannot recall the young man's name that we consulted with, but he was great! He took plenty of time to explain our options and what each option entailed. He explained the work he would be performing, and how long he expected it would take to complete. In the end it took longer than he anticipated, but I told him to take his time and make sure it is done right. The job was completed and he also took the time to explain all the details of how to operate the remote start.
So far, my Wife loves the choice I made.
