I must admit, i waited for a sale for this one. I couldn’t justify the $70 price point, but it is absolutely worth it. This game far exceeded my expectations. Yes it is difficult, but the gameplay is so incredibly smooth and responsive that it does not feel like anything you can’t overcome, and you will. Thanks to the rogue lite nature of the game you will repeating the same mobs over and over and over again and each time you get closer to mastering the game. Graphics are excellent, 3D audio is superb, dual sense features are ergonomic and a joy to use. All the technical aspects aside, the game is a dream to play. I put 90+ hours into platinuming this game and it was enjoyable throughout. PlayStation Studios have done it again. I can’t wait to see what these guys come up with next.

If you like roguelikes ( risk of rain 2, binding of issac, enter the gungeon, etc...) youd live this game. Its very unique and fun. Utilizes the PS5 amazing especially with the controller. The only con is you cant save mid runs and runs usually take a long time to get through

Unique and fun gameplay. Really interesting storyline. Definitely frustrating and a but repetitive but there are a lot of ways to go about it. Definitely needs to be llayed in the dark.

Addictive and extremely difficult but rewarding for pushing through. If you like Rouge-like games like Dark Souls, Hades, Dead Cells, Rogue Legacy with a little Metroid Prime and horror elements thrown in, you'll enjoy Returnal!

If you’re a very casual gamer that plays very little in a day or a week, this game isn’t for you. It’s a very great game but requires a lot of your time since there are no save points and a run can last at least an hour.

Returnal is a must have PS5 game. It truly stands out as a gem of the next gen titles. The difficulty is hard for sure, but the replay value is through the roof. It's very satisfying to progress further each time through the different biomes. It's definitely worth checking out.

This is a sleeper title on the PS5, thing Dead Souls that is a bullet hell kind of game. The semi rouge like gives it an additional challenge.
I always suggest people to watch a gameplay video to get a better understanding of the game mechanics. Otherwise the game doesn't get many chances because it can be too hard.
It is the most played game on my PS5 and for very good reason!

I like this game, the graphics are good, story is good, its not too complicated with the controller for an old gamer like me (I can’t stand it when you can literally do over 100 different things with a controller, I panic and die just trying to aim and shoot, even on easy mode, then I feel stoopid).
But, when you die, you end up back at the beginning, and just because you get a little more video, or a tad more information this time around, it’s crazy annoying to go through the whole thing again.
I may just suck and have not gone far enough to reach any type of save point, but after playing for an hour or so, I would think a save point is warranted, unless I just suck at this game. Lol.

Possibly my favorite game on the PS5 so far. While "Rift Apart" was amazing and well optimized, Returnal hit so many of the notes I didn't realize I wanted in a game. Challenging at first, but becomes manageable after some time and adjustment. Love the nonlinear storytelling, gunplay, enemy variations, and maps. Even the endgame mode (tower) is extremely fun after finishing the game.

I played the heck out of this to the point I caused bad stick drift in my controller. I'm not usually one for souls like difficulty in games but it being sci fi and having long range weapons made it palatable

Amazing atmosphere and graphics. The audio is unreal with solid headphones. The game is hard tho. Unapologetically hard. Lesser gamers will be quick to hit a progression wall, but persistence pays off.

I should've done more research for this game before I bought it. I've never heard or even played rogue like games, which this game is considered. I didn't know what I've gotten myself into. I put in about 6 hours of game play and haven't even made it to the first boss. There no checkpoints or options to save the game, when you die you have to start all over again, this game is REALLY hard.
The game mechanics and graphics are beautiful, the game make good use of the controller's haptic feedback, the sound is amazing with the headset which gives you a full immersion experience. In order to enjoy this game, one has to be patient and have the discipline to grind it thru.
