I just connected this adaptor and tested for the first time. It couldn't have been more simple to set up. 1) I plugged the CPW-2 into my vehicle's USB 2) the vehicle recognized it as a carplay device 3) the CPW-2 caused instructions to be displayed on the vehicle console telling me to unpair and forget the existing Bluetooth connection between the vehicle and my phone 4) I paired my phone to the CPW-2 5) Carplay showed up on the vehicle console the same as it used to via USB. I also tested that I could play my phone music and make phone calls through the vehicle voice controls over the vehicle's speakers with only the bluetooth connection to the CPW-2. Very happy so far. The only hassle might be when my wife needs to connect her phone while we're in the car together which will either require me to disconnect from the bluetooth first or for her to plug her phone in via USB. I don't foresee any issue, but simultaneous connections like my vehicle supports would be a great update for the future.

I installed this in one of our vehicles that has native CarPlay, but not wirelessly. I had another device installed that was really hit or miss as far as the connection to my iPhone (16 Pro Max) and the infotainment system. Having used the Rexing for the past few days, I have been able to successfully connect within about 45-60 seconds of starting the car -- much, MUCH better than the other adapter I had from another brand which took up to 3 minutes ... if it connected at all. It's kind of hard to see, but I have it installed in a hidden compartment behind the infotainment system (the screen has a power lifter for storage). But the final result is perfection! It's a little misleading (see pictures) because the phone initially connects almost immediately to the car; but, when the Rexing CPW-2 connects, it disconnects the Bluetooth connection with the phone and utilizes the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi connection from the adapted. But the result is perfect! Nothing but the best from Rexing - I have their dash cams in all our vehicles and now *consistently* connected Wireless CarPlay!

An absolute must have if you have the older Android Auto that requires plugging your phone using a cable. The set up was quick and easy and Rexing supplied the necessary cables. Connections was seamless and consistent. Unit was actually a lot smaller than I thought it would be so it really fits anywhere. No more leaving the phone in the car. Love it

I have Apple car play on my car but it was wired. I thought unless it is a factory built in, aftermarket wireless car play adapters are ineffective and don't work properly. I'm glad I had this item. My car play turned to a wireless one. I didn't notice delay on communication either.

I’ve researched deeply the “Wireless CarPlay Adapters” and I was not impressed until I bought the Rexing product. It has worked from the moment I connected the device usbc to my car and Bluetooth to my phone. No latency experienced and it restarts and connects when I start my car. Goodby cables! Nice job Product Team!!!!

    Awesome and tiny box!

This little box is pretty amazing! The Rexing Wireless Carplay Adapter is awesome! I've been using it for about a week now in my vehicle, which has Apple Carplay, but won't work wirelessly on its own, I have to plug my phone into the USB in order to use it - but no more! This little box plugs into that USB port with the included wire and then, you have wireless Apple Carplay! So cool! Set up is ridiculously easy, tell your phone to forget your bluetooth connection with your car. Then, look for the 'Auto' bluetooth to pair your phone with in the bluetooth settings. Connects fairly quickly, it's not instant but it's quick enough. So now, when I get in my car, I don't have to plug my phone into the car. One of my concerns was the size, was this going to take up too much space in my little console, but honestly, it's a small box, resting up on the side of my car's little console space, barely taking up any room. If you have been wanting this feature, don't hesitate thinking about the space this will take up, it's small, and not inconvenient at all. If at any time you don't want to use Apple Carplay, just unplug the box, then plug it back in when you do. I recommend this little gadget, it's very convenient and I like having it.

Rexing adapter is exactly what I was looking for

I have a 2020 KIA Sportage, and I love my Car, I have invested time and money making upgrades here and there. However, something that I missed was that the OEM radio didn’t have wireless carplay, only wired. At the time, I didn’t know much about CARPLAY, so I regretted that I didn’t wait a little bit more for the next model that includes the wireless carplay radio. I wasn’t sure about getting an aftermarket adapter because I didn’t want to deal with unstable connectivity, lags, poor sound quality and end up disappointed. The Rexing Wireless Carplay Adapter is exactly what I was looking for. It’s small, and super easy and fast to install. Didn’t take more than five minutes! As soon as I start the engine, the Rexing connection links with the radio instantly and shows the CarPlay typical menu. Everything you do with the wired connection is done with this wireless adapter, all the functions and carplay features, songs, maps, and other apps work flawlessly. It comes with 2 cables, a USB-A to C and a C to C cable adapter, User Manual, Quick setup guide, warranty 18 months registration, and the Rexing adapter. My Car USB connector is a USB-A. First you connect the adapter, turn on the car, and then look for the adapter in the iPhone BT device list as “AUTO-CB16”, then pair them, it will ask you to enter the digit code to complete the pairing process but I didn’t need to. I have set up two phones, but in the case both phones are in range when the car is started, the last phone that was paired will connect. From what I understand, the initial connection will be through the BT, and then it will establish a WIFI connection, you will see the link on the WIFI device list on the phone, as “AUTO-CB16” as well. The Rexing Adapter is small and light, can be easily placed anywhere in the car. It fits perfectly in the tray just below the radio where the USB-A input is located. So there is no longer the need to have to plug and unplugged my phone every time I get in and out of the car. There is no latency, lags or compromised sound quality. Fast setup and stable connectivity is a plus. It remembers more than one phone setup connection. This Rexing adapter was a pleasant surprise. I am very happy and ready to buy a second one to install in my other car. Definitely highly recommended.

Seamless upgrade from wired to wireless CarPlay

I got the Rexing wireless CarPlay adapter for our 2023 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy, which only supports wired CarPlay, to make use of the wireless charger and achieve a more seamless experience. After trying several other adapters that promised similar features, including ones with SIM card capabilities for Android, I was disappointed by their instability and frequent disconnections. However, this adapter has been a great experience so far. Setup and Performance: The setup was incredibly simple—it took just a few seconds. You plug the adapter into the vehicle's USB port, and for the initial use, configure the Bluetooth connection on your phone. After that, my iPhone 15 Pro Max connected effortlessly, and CarPlay launched automatically every time I started the car. The connection has been stable with no issues during calls or while using apps like Google Maps and YouTube music. This adapter does exactly what it promises, making the transition from wired to wireless CarPlay smooth and hassle-free. Pros: Quick and easy setup with no complicated steps. Reliable and stable connection with my iPhone. Comes with both USB-C and USB-A cables for compatibility. Compact, mini design that keeps the dashboard clutter-free. Overall, this CarPlay adapter is an excellent option for anyone looking to upgrade from a wired to a wireless CarPlay system. It’s the best wireless adapter I've used so far, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a reliable solution.

I like Rexing products. I had one of their dash cams and was very happy with it. This product is another great product by Rexing. I've been in the market for one of these wireless Carplay adapters. I like easy. Who doesn't? This Carplay adapter from Rexing is easy. I love it. I like the small size, I like the quality, I like that it comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable as well as a USB-A to USB-C cable as well. Setup is pretty easy. Connect your phone bluetooth and follow the onscreen instructions. It took me about 2-3 minutes to set up and get working. The one thing I noticed that was problematic for me, and this could have just been something I did wrong, but after I initially got it paired to my phone, several car drives later, it picked up my sons phone but did not fully connect to it and I could not get the screen to change away from trying to pair to his phone. We even shut his phone completely off. I ended up having to factory reset the unit. It was weird, but hasn't happened again since that one time. There is a short delay after starting up the vehicle before it will pick up and connect to my phone but I think that is pretty normal for these units. I feel like this is pretty much a set it and forget it unit. And the company made it small enough that it's easy to tuck away in my vehicle. I haven't had any issues with the unit since the issue with my son's phone and it's so much more convenient than having to manually connect your phone every time you want to use Carplay. I would recommend this unit to anyone who is looking for the convenience of wireless Carplay in their vehicle.

Works Great with 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

    |
    Tech Insider Network Member
    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I’ve been using Rexing’s original wireless CarPlay adapter (model CPW-1) for over a year and it has worked relatively well, but it can be slow to boot up and sometimes has a delay when changing audio tracks. This new model, the CPW-2, is smaller in size and appears to be a bit quicker. It still works perfectly with my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, but there are a couple of drawbacks. === PROS === - Incredibly easy to set up. Just plug it into your car’s USB port and then pair your iPhone with the adapter’s Bluetooth connection. You’ll need to unpair or “forget” your car radio’s Bluetooth connection from your iPhone for everything to work properly. Once everything is paired properly, the CarPlay screen will appear on your infotainment system and it will look and work just like traditional wired CarPlay. The best part is that you can leave your iPhone in your pocket or anywhere else in your car and not have to worry about plugging it into the USB port every time you drive. - The CPW-2 comes with both USB-C and USB-A cables, so you will be able to connect it to any car with either type of USB port. - Compared to the original CPW-1 model, the CPW-2 boots up much faster. The CPW-1 takes about 20 seconds after starting my vehicle before my iPhone connects and the CarPlay screen appears. With the CPW-2, that time is cut in half to just about 10 seconds. - The CPW-2 is very small and compact and hardly takes up any space. It tucks away nicely in the small compartment under my Grand Cherokee’s radio screen where the USB ports are located. - My steering wheel controls work perfectly with the CPW-2, including Siri activation, call answering/hangup, audio track forward/backward, volume up/down, etc. No complaints there. === CONS === - On some vehicles (including my Grand Cherokee), the USB ports remain active/powered for up to an hour after the engine is turned off. As such, the CPW-2 remains on and connected to my iPhone even after I turn off my vehicle. So when I walk away from my car, my iPhone remains in CarPlay/driving mode until I get far enough away and it finally drops the signal. This can be especially annoying when my iPhone continues to route audio through my car’s speakers even as I’m walking away from the vehicle. And it can be a big problem if you live in a house with an attached garage where your vehicle is within range of the CPW-2’s Bluetooth and Wi-Fi signals — your phone will continue to stay connected to the CPW-2 and won’t connect to your home Wi-Fi until your car’s USB ports finally turn off. The easiest way to avoid this is to remember to unplug the CPW-2 from your car’s USB port after you turn off the engine. But it can definitely be a hassle. But I don’t think this is Rexing’s fault — it’s the way the car’s USB ports are supposed to work, and I don’t know if there’s a way around it. - When changing audio tracks and talking on phone calls, there is a slight delay. For instance, it takes about a half a second after pressing the “next” button in Apple Music before the next track starts playing. When on phone calls, I’ve noticed similar delays resulting in overlap where I end up talking over the person on the other end of the line. The delay seems to be a little bit better than the original CPW-1 model, but not by much. I think this is just an inherent problem with wireless CarPlay. === OVERALL === Minor issues aside, the CPW-2 is a great wireless adapter that makes using CarPlay much more convenient. Depending on the behavior of your vehicle’s USB ports, you may have to deal with some of the quirks I described above. But for me, that’s usually worth the tradeoff so I don’t have to deal with cables — I can just keep my phone in my pocket. So if you’ve been looking for a wireless CarPlay adapter and are overwhelmed by all of the generic models/brands available from other retailers, then you should definitely consider the Rexing CPW-2. It works great and comes from a reputable company.
