I love the discreet design. After hiding the power wire it is barely noticeable behind the rear view mirror. And with high definition video recordings I was able to read license plates from the cars right in front of me and one lane to right also. I like the auto power on and off feature. After its set up every time you drive it will record. So you don't have to remember to turn it on every time. And don't for get the SD card. For $40 i got a 64GB sd card that should be good for up to 10 hours of recordings. It dose support up to 128GB cards also. But I didn't feel the need for that. 10 hours of driving should get me about 3-4 days of video and with the loop recording it will just record over the oldest videos first. The LCD screen is a nice size, And is easy to navigate the options/settings. The built-in battery is for emergency use only and will you 15 mins of power. So if your in a wreck you can unplug this DashCam and walk around the wreck to inspect damage. I'm taking one star off be cause on the second day of use the double-sided tape failed. But it was setting in direct sunlight on a 91degrees day.

Great Wide-Angle Dash Camera With A Few Quirks

The Rexing V1P dash camera system includes a primary unit which contains the front-facing camera, screen, and controls, and a small second camera that gets mounted facing the rear and connects to the main unit via a wire. Installation is fairly straightforward, the toughest part is figuring out where to run the wires... between the main unit and a cigarette lighter and between the front and rear units. It's a bit odd that the power cord is mini USB and permanently connected to a cigarette lighter plug. I haven't had another device with mini USB is many years (it's all micro USB now), so no hope of using the same cord as another device. Also, having it permanently connected to the cigarette lighter plug, rather than a USB connector on the other end, means you can't use a USB sockets built into the car, or a multi-usb charger that fits into the cigarette lighter. These quirks don't keep the the V1P from working as advertised, they're just odd and slightly annoying. Once I had the V1P installed, I found that navigating the user interface was fairly intuitive, but a little bit clunky. Fortunately, when it comes to the one main purpose of having a dash cam -- capturing clear footage of what's going on while driving -- the V1P works very well. The front camera captures high definition footage with a very wide angle, day or night. The rear camera is lower definition, so you can see what's happening, but maybe not make out as many details or read license plates. If your car cigarette lighter turns on and off with the vehicle, then you won't really need to do anything. When it senses power, the V1P turns on and starts recording. When power turns off, it waits a few seconds on it's standby battery then turns off. It's nice knowing that I'll only really need to think about the V1P when I need to retrieve footage. Overall, this is a perfectly reasonable dash cam that captures helpful footage without much intervention from the user. There are some things about it that I wish were better designed, but no deal breakers.

Nice compact front camera device. Hides well behind windshield mirror. Can't even really notice it. First concern was placement of the front camera because we have a toll tag sticker right in the upper middle of the widshield where camera should be. First I thought the sticker woud be visual impairment. Not so. Camera is mounted right next to it at the same level and it is not even in the video view and we get the entire front view of the car and road from left and right door columns. Nice wide angle. I did not use the provided adhesive at first. I used some velcro tape so I could be certain of where I needed to mount the camera. The velcro works great. I may continue just to use that unless I begin to have adhesive failure of the tape. Front Camera Picture quality is sharp and very good. As well, the picture quality stays very good when changing from bright to dark or into sun and away from sun, etc. A little dissappointed that we cannot read license plates though. Plates are just never quite in focus or sharp enough to read unless the other vehicle is right in front or is at same speed just in front to right or left. Rarely can make any out, however. But the overall front camera picture is quite sharp high quality most often. The rear camera is tiny, which is good because it needs to be, but this particular model has a 720 pic and does not focus well on license plates well at all. In fact, every plate that comes in view almost appears intentionally pixellated. The rest of the vehicle in view is well in focus, but the plate itself is just a blurry pixcellated blob. Kinda Strange. Overall Set up is not complicated. Just read instructions. Hiding wiring takes some time but is not hard... watch the videos. In my vehicle, a Kia Optima, there was far more wiring length for the rear camera than needed. So, there seems to be very good length for most normal size passenger vehicle as far as I can tell. We have not as yet had to deal with high heat inside the car. We'll see what happens in the Texas summer. One of the reasons that I bought this particular brand is their claim of high heat resistnce. Hoping that plays out well. I like the camera so far and would recommend it for best overall viewing and the device itsef not being noticeable. If you want better higher quality video though, in the rear camera , then go for the greater pix count model.

    Great Dash Cam!

I had been looking for a good, decently priced dash cam for a while after a couple of accidents where it would have helped provided some additional details. So far, this seems to be what I was looking for! The front camera video quality is great. It can have a little glare issue driving into the sun, especially when behind thin clouds. Rear camera is fine, but still trying to decide if I want to continue to use it as there is not really a good place to mount it on my Grand Cherokee. The time-lapse feature is fun feature (25 minute drive shown in 2½ minutes), but of course, not very useful for capturing all details. I opted to purchase the Rexing suction mount (check the Rexing site for more details) due to Texas summer sun (which does push the camera a little further away from windshield, but I will be able to easily move it between vehicles). I'm also thinking about getting the hard-wire kit for my main vehicle and possible the GPS Logger. The program they have you download that you can view the video along with the GPS data is the only thing I have an issue with. You can still view the video without a GPS log file, but you cannot quickly get to a certain location in the video... It will just run a 2x speed to get to that spot (just using VLC instead).

    Excellent Dash Cam

Great quality, easy to view videos organized in a folder automatically on the SD card... loop recording 3mins, 5mins, 10mins...Options like the available GPS function allow the use of an app on PC to view your videos with the corresponding speed in MPH/KPH, and the location/road you were traveling on. In the event of anything happening such as an incident, or a motor vehicle accident, you couldn't possibly need more information than that, what else do you need? Front Cam @ 1080p & Rear Cam at VGA 640x480 and if you have the GPS logging, you can see the speed/location (optional), only displayed if you want to share that, otherwise, the video is clean and it won't display it. Installation is a breeze, but you can go 100% professional/clean install by ordering the $10.00 Rexing Dash hardwire kit, designed for you to run the wire directly to your fuse box (15A fuse included in the kit). This allows a perfect full-time connection no longer needing to use the cigarette lighter 12V outlet which is annoying and ugly to have those wires laying around especially if you have a nice new/clean car. In conclusion, Rexing provides a great dash cam at a price point that is unbeatable by most companies, you get what you pay for, and with a 12 month warranty and an extended 6 month additional warranty when you register your product, you get a total of 18 months warranty on your registered rexing dash cam. They stand behind their product and others who I know that have this or the previous generation model of the Rexing dash cam, still works flawlessly for years without a problem. It’s a solid product and I would definitely recommend this to my friends and family. A dash cam nowadays is essential.

I have used two other dash cams in the past, and this is the best one so far. Great quality picture. PROS: Sturdy constructions, small size cameras don't block view, great picture quality, easy to navigate menus, good connections. I've used a duel camera before from that 'snake' company. I was not impressed. That camera had 5 connections between the rear camera and the main unit and was constantly flickering. This camera setup only has 2 connections and the connection to the main camera is a sturdy 3.5mm plug. Less failure points. CONS: The rear camera picture is not great, but it is good enough.

Replaced a prior more expensive dash cam in my car. The picture quality is amazing, especially for the price point that the V1p was. Operation is very easy to use and geek squad installers hid all of the wires and it looks great. Being able to have both front and rear cameras is a great additional feature and one of the main selling points. The other really nice thing with this is the continuous loop of recording and the fact that I don’t need to worry about running out of space.

This is my 3rd Rexing camera. I love the camera for the discrete design and the front camera 1080 recording. The issue that I had with the 2 others is the battery. Both lasted less than a year. Fortunately, Rexing has awesome customer service and replace both camera's. The first was a free replacement and the second was replaced at a discount cost because it was out of warranty. It was out warranty because it did not get extended on the replacement camera. Not an issue for me though. I just bought the V1P and as others have stated, there is no information on the rear camera. It took a while to "mirror" the image, so everything from behind me didn't look backwards. In any case, the video quality from the rear camera is poor to say the least during the day, and almost completely useless at night. You can see headlights behind you, but that's about it. I wish it had a bigger (maybe adjustable) screen. Having to remove it from the windshield to change the settings or view what the cameras are seeing is kind of a pain. Overall, still happy with the camera. I got the 2 year extended plan at Best Buy, so when the battery goes on this one, at least it's covered.

This camera is above average. It has decent picture quality but I found it to be focusing more on the dark dashboard rather than outside my windshield. Things are legible but I wish it was focusing correctly. It can accept up to 128GB microSD cards which gives plenty of recording time. Dynamic range is very good and colors are replicated fairly accurately. Mounting the cameras are a breeze, but I do not like how flimsy the front camera mount feels. It moves quite easily when you touch the camera but not during your drive. It feels cheap but gets the job done. The rear camera quality is just terrible being it is VGA 480p. You can see what happens but don't rely on image quality. I like the dual channel recording and the small battery that is in the unit itself. All in all, if you are looking for a dash cam, there may be better ones out there but this is a good value for the money.

I purchased the Rexing V1P dash cam with front and rear cameras to use in my new truck. This camera is an excellent camera for the price. The camera has a low profile mount keeping it close to the wind shield. The front camera has excellent quality and license plate numbers can easily be read within a couple of car lengths away. However, the rear camera is of very poor quality, videos are very grainy, and license plate numbers can not be read. Night vision could be better, but overall I'm pleased, it will get the job done. Installation was very easy, and only look about an hour. A hard wire kit is available to connect it directly to your fuse box for a neat installation, and the wires are easily concealed.

A great dash cam at a low price. Offers pretty good video quality in a tiny package. My biggest complaint is the lack of a memory card. Memory cards really aren't all that expensive anymore, especially for a company that can purchase them in bulk to package with their product. Why not just package it in rather than pass that off to the consumer? The rear cam option is nice, but will require some serious install work. There's a really long tether that is required and no one wants a cord laying around in their car, so you'll need to get it installed up under trim, etc to hide the wires. It works fine in a rear window, but not so much in a convertible as the window isn't as big. Lastly, the camera itself is tiny, but in some cars with collision avoidance systems and auto-cruise control there's already a camera assembly behind the rear view mirror. That can make installing this discreetly behind the mirror a bit tight. In today's current road conditions, I don't know why you wouldn't have a dash cam. People are driving like animals. Stay safe out there!

This is a really cool dash cam with a lot of nice features. You will be hard pressed to find another camera on the market with a dual camera system at this price. It has really clear picture and the setup was a breeze. Only complaint would be that the 3M adhesive strip provided to attach the camera to the windshield is not strong enough (ours fell off after the first day). Other than that, great camera 10/10.

Safety on the road is crucial. In order to protect my family as well as myself I have installed the stealthy Rexing - V1P Dual Dash Camera - Black which not only has a front camera but a rear one as well. I love the way it looks as well as the fact that it adjusts the camera to allow great pictures in any light. It is easy to install and to save recordings.

REXING Does Not Recommend Using Scan Disk

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This review deals with the Scan Disk card included with the Dash Cam product. I really did not want to the use star ratings because I have no problems with REXING. I would not recommend a friend use Scan Disk with this dash cam. I purchased a REXING VI P at Best Buy and it came with the Scan Disk Ultra. After minimal use I noticed that I would continually get a message on the screen that the files need to be deleted. I thought this strange since there should have been one continual loop on the recording. Also, upon close inspection of the files I noticed that there was a lapse in recording when one loop time expired and another was to begin - in some cases as much as 22 seconds. A lot of driving can take place in 22 seconds. I telephone REXING and indicated my concerns regarding the dash cam. The first thing the REXING tech rep asked me is if I am using the Scan Disk included in the product from Best Buy. He explained the problems encountered was do to using Scan Disk and REXING recommended a brand called Kingston. To further bolster his recommendation there is an internet article at REXINGUSA.com entitled “Choosing a Memory Card.” In the article in bright red words is the following: “Do not use San Disk Ultra Memory Cards.” It would be consumer friendly if a retail seller of REXING would tell the consumer that REXING recommends using the Kingston SD card for best results.
