Impressive Features at a Fair Price

The 2nd generation of the RIG 500 PRO HX has maintained its excellent price point while improving in almost every area. While the headset is still rather bulky, it is lightweight and can adjust to fit any sized head - making it comfortable for both kids and adults. The earcups are smaller than most other headsets and they press softly on the ears - instead of surrounding the ear. They are comfortable for several hours of gaming, but because they do not use cooling gel or foam - eventually they can begin to feel hot. But, even wearing them with glasses is surprisingly comfortable.
The metal frame gives them a quality feel, but none of the cables are removable or replaceable - so a certain level of care should be placed on how they are stored and used. The volume control has been moved to a mid cord remote that is easy to locate mid game and even allows the user to lock the volume at max volume.
The audio quality is truly impressive - especially when considering their low cost. The 50mm drivers produce an impressive low end sound and they truly produce an immersive sound that helps gamers locate the position of enemies with directional audio. The sound is less impressive at the high end, but still produces audio that will please all except for the most strict audiofiles. The microphone quickly flips up to mute, or can fold down and bend into any shape - holding the required position without issues. The microphone can also be easily removed if the user wants to use them for music on the go.
For the budget conscious - the RIG 500 PRO HX is truly a fantastic choice. Because the connection is a standard 3.5 mm jack - the headset can be used with any device Xbox, Playstation, Switch, PC, Smartphones, etc. Just plug them in and you’re set. Low price, simple to use, comfortable, with great sound. I strongly recommend them to any gamer who wants great sound, but doesn’t want to break the bank.
PROS:
+ Fits all head sizes (great for both kids and adults)
+ Automatically sizes comfortably to the top of the head
+ 3.5mm plug has an angled shape that makes it easy to grip even when plugged in next to other USB peripherals (on PC)
+ This Gen 2 version no longer has the awkward volume dial at the base of the 3.5 mm plug
+ Microphone easily and conveniently bends to any shape and holds its position
+ Microphone is removable making the headset usable for all music / media usage
+ Volume slider is easy to adjust while gaming and can lock in place at max volume
+ Comes with a 2 year subscription to Dolby Atmos on the Xbox
+ Does a good job at blocking ambient noise
Cons:
- Earcups are small and press on the ears (instead of surrounding the ears)
- Earcups do not have cooling gel / foam
- Earcups do not pivot or lie flat
- Does not fold for convenient travel
- No Active Noise Cancelation
- Earcup foam is not removable / replaceable
- Cable is not removable or replaceable
- No audio controls for answering a phone call, or triggering an AI assistant like Siri or Cortana

It works perfect for what I need it for. However the battery life is not much to be desired. It's not that I have to plug it in a lot to charge it in the beginning. Using it everyday, charging it, using it, charging it, and less than a year having to leave it plugged in all the time or else it will die right away

I’ve had a couple versions of the RIG 500 series headphones and all of them have been really comfortable and the sound quality is great. However, all of them have had the same issue and even this new version has it, you can’t have the volume turned all the way up if you are using the microphone unless you want echo. I don’t know if it is their inline controls that cause it, but if you pass about 75% on the volume control and are in a voice chat party, the game sound and everybody's voice will be returned to them annoying everyone in your party.
The headset is comfortable and I can go for hours without any discomfort on my ears or head. The headband is metal, so they should last through lots of use. The dual material earcups help create some noise isolation while not creating a sweat barrier around the ears. The sound quality is pretty nice, especially when paired with the included Dolby Atmos code. A shame Dolby has made it into a subscription service. They changed the wire from a detachable version with 90 degree plugs to a shorter hardwired and straight plug making it stick out a bit far on the controller. The microphone is detachable and flexible, so you can get it right where you want it. These claim they are made for Xbox, but anything with a 3.5mm headphone jack will work with them. The Dolby Atmos code will only work with Xbox and Windows 10 compatible devices though.
Overall, it is a nice headset, but I really dislike having to turn my volume down when I want to chat with friends. This is a recurring issue with these headphones, so it’s not a buggy set. I can’t recommend them to anyone that wants to enjoy the full sound and use the microphone though. If you don’t intend to use the microphone much, like you have an external microphone or don’t mind turning them down for everyone else, then these are still comfortable and sound great.

I got this headset as a replacement for a Turtle Beach one and have to say this thing rocks! It is super light and I have been able to wear it for multiple hours at a time without any discomfort. It also has the ability to quickly adjust the size based on how large your head is. The second picture shows the button to adjust and it was very easy to adjust in a few seconds.
I already had the Dolby Atmos app installed on my XBOX One X so no configuration really required but also had my daughter test it on her XBOX One S when she was playing Fortnite. I was very impressed with how clear the sounds are and her first comment was how crisp and clear the audio was when she used it. The only downside is the cord that has to be plugged into your controller or a USB headset device. The cord isn't super long and my only complain when using these vs. wireless is sometimes the cord just annoys me sticking out of the controller.
I didn't really notice any sort of deep bass but also for a headset I wasn't expecting much either. It looks good, fits comfortably, and sounds great! Compared to other headsets available in this price range it would definitely be at the top of my list and I would definitely recommend it.

Owned for 6 months. Strap on right side (opposite boom mic) has cracked.
Holding it together with tape and binder clips until I can get a replacement that is NOT a Rig,
Love the wired (to controller) connection. Hate the build materials and quality.
To the manufacturer: Spend $20 more on the materials; charge $100 more and you'll have a decent product.

GREAT COMFORT & SOUNDING HEADPHONES W/ATMOS EFFECT

REVIEW: RIG 500 PRO HX XBox Gaming Headset with 3D Audio – Black
Model:RIG 500 PROHX
Best Buy Tech Insider Network
GREAT COMFORT & SOUNDING HEADPHONES W/ATMOS EFFECTS
Great Immersive Experience for PC or XBOX Gaming. Included ATMOS 2 Year Activation Code. Better than I expected at this price point.
There are times where I don’t want to blast the full stereo system and floor speakers when gaming. Until now the gaming headsets I’ve tried sounded pretty good but were heavy and uncomfortable (for my big head), or they were comfortable but did not sound all that good.
I think the RIG 500 PRO HX strikes a good balance between audio quality, features, and cost. At first, I thought it was too tight, but then I realized you can “pop out” the ear cups and move them down a notch. Now they fit my big head perfectly and comfortably. They feel secure without being too tight. The microphone sound quality is actually very good. I did some audio captures on my PC and honestly it sounds better than most of my recording gear.
The sound was good, especially with ATMOS effects turned on. For music listening it was only average, but these are not supposed to be Audiophile headphones. They are gaming headphones. I tested them both on my PC (WIN 10) and X-BOX One connected via the controller. Note that on the PC, unless you have an all-in-one jack on your PC you will need a splitter/combiner to join together sound and mic on the same cable. It would have been nice if they included this in the box since it is billed on as PC or Xbox and I don’t know that many desktops that have the combined jack already. Additionally, the cord is not that long which is good when you are connected to a controller, but not so much for a PC. If they gave you a PC combiner cord that was a few feet long this would have solved both problems at very little cost.
I like the detachable microphone, so you know 100% that you are “off the air”.
Overall, it is really solid choice for a gaming headset.
FAVORITE FEATURES
- Good overall quality build
- Very lightweight
- Glasses Friendly (did not press down on my glass steps)
- Removable Mic
- Very comfortable
- Included ATMOS 2 year activation
NOTE: Not all games officially support the ATMOS mode so check online for your favorite game titles if you are buying these for ATMOS. Keeping in mind these are just 2 speaker headphones. Sure the effects sound nice but I am pretty certain there are not 10 discrete speakers in the headphones.
OVERALL RECOMMENDATION
The included ATMOS 2 year code elevates the RIG 500 PRO HX above a started headset. The comfort elevates it above most headsets even costing 2-3X. The sound quality is average and appropriate at this price point. Again 100% immersive playing games like Forenza 4, Doom and more.
I would recommend this to anyone in the market for a good sounding headset that wont break the bank.

I have seen these headphones online at Bestbuy and even on certain gaming YouTube channels. And always said they look pretty cool. So I figured I’d give them A shot.
They look even cooler in person. I like unique products as I try to be different and stand out. This really does that.
Light weight on mine and my 8 yr daughters head. Super sturdy and relatively comfortable even with gaming for an hour or 2. These sound great while not using the Dolby 3D audio. But if you have never tried 3D audio or Dolby atoms. Please do. It’s GAME CHANGING(if implemented properly). This company was kind enough to add a 2 yr activation code. Most don’t and I really appreciate not having to pay more money to enjoy the 3D audio.
Sound quality is great. Well balanced for this price point. 3D audio is awesome. I can’t wait for it to get even better.
The wire is a bit short but you are meant to connect to your controller. Which I pair this with the nacon compact pro. You should try it. The volume is a bit low but has plenty volume for my hearing. Mic can be retracted to mute. I like that. You also have a volume control switch on the wire. Very convenient.
With all the many headphones out there. For this price I will say you get what you pay for. And not overpaying is always a plus. Especially in time like these. Value is more important than ever.
Great job here! Good luck and happy shopping.

- just like the previous version 500 HX still comes with very comfortable elastic band
- 500 HX also comes with 50mm drivers, the boom mic is detachable and comes with mute to flip feature, be careful trying to detached the mic though because it can be tricky, you might break it if not careful
- the ear cushions are very comfortable and the headset self adjusting headband is all there. to help for comfort
- what i love about the RIG is how light weight the headset are, the design is also unique, a little edgy but not too much the light weight steel frame design is awesome to look at,it adds a bit of quality to the bottom product.
- the wire is an improvement to the previous version, doesn’t feel like this will break in no time, it’s flat and it’s kink resistant, i’m glad they switch to this design it could help the longevity of the product, also the in-line volume control is simple and useful
- zero issue when using while playing for a long period of tome
- audio quality was alright, they are not terrible, they sounds a bit mid from my experience, having the Dolby Atmos does improve the clarity of the audio, for me it’s a decent sounding headset
- after plugging the headset using my astro mixamp it delivers a better quality sounding experience.
- if you’re basing your purchase by the price, I think RIG still stands as one of the headset to get, from what you’re paying for you’ll get a decent sounding headset that’s also light and comfortable to use, also don’t forget that you’ll also be able to unlock Dolby Atmos 3D audio with this headset for 2 years, I believe it’s a $15 value to add and dolby atmos does improve RIG 500 HX a whole lot more than the standard setting i’ve been enjoying this headset, I have tried the logitech G335 which it’s the same price as the RIG 500 HX, I must say I prefer RIG when it comes to the money rage and what it offers

THE BREAKDOWN:
These RIG 500 Pro Hx headphones are every bit as comfortable as the previous version. They are lightweight but have solid feel to them. The top band/crown is made of a flexible metal that had a great look to it. Under the top metal band is a headband strip. The top of the strip is like a faux leather and underneath (the part that sits on top of your head) is fabric type material. The outer part of the earcups are made of a plastic while the earcups themselves are like a faux leather outside with a material/fabric cushions. The earcups just kind of clip into the main part of the headphones. I actually dropped them and both earcups flew off. The were easily snapped back in. The cord was flat and flexible as one would expect.
The headphones themselves are very comfortable and I wore them for long periods of gaming and music listening. I normally have issues at the top of head hurting after hours of use but with these they felt the same after 5 hours as they did after one. I did not have any sweat forming at the earcups which is a huge plus.
The sound quality is on par for headphones with 50mm drivers. I think there was a good balance mid and high without a distorted bass. The Dolby Atmos feature really added to the overall sound profile of these headphones. The only thing that I found that when gaming in chat I had to keep my volume at 50% or under or it would echo. I tried to adjust the setting on my Xbox but nothing seemed to fix the echo issue.
The mic worked great for me. I personally like flip to mute mics.
PRO’s:
-Lightweight design
-Very Comfortable
-3D game audio
CON’s:
-Echo in game chat if volume is above 50%
SUMMARY:
Overall, this product worked as intended, and I would recommend this to a friend if they are in the market for device like this that is portable and gets the job done.

I like this headset, but I don't love it. I like to try out gaming headsets with Hellblade. That game does amazing things with sound and it definitely immerses you into the world that they want you to live in. The sound quality in a good pair of headsets is crucial when playing. These didn't dissapoint. The cups wrapped my ears well and they were very comfortable for the few hours I spent with them. I also used them on my PC to see how they would fair with some online chatter and game world noise. I also was happy with that. The design looks good busy. And I'm not crazy about how restrictive they can be. The boom mic works well, as long as you make sure it is properly connected. It will fall out.the volume on the cord is sufficiant, but I would have preferred that they be placed on the ear cups. Back to the design, I just feel like Nacon could've gone with with less. It has a skeletal look and feel. it makes me like something's missing. There's not much in the box, so it's pretty much a plug and play situation. They work well with any gaming console with a 3.5mm jack. That in itself makes it a good purchase, but I personally wasn't blown away considering that there are other headsets for less that do the same thing and look better doing it. I do recommend it, but only if the others are sold out.

These headphones offer great value and features for the money.
CONNECTIONS
This is a simple answer. There is only 1 connection for these headphones. It is a single, 3-conductor (Left, Right, Mic) 3.5mm headphone connector. The cord is approximately 3ft long and luckily is just about the right length if you are using an Xbox or PlayStation controller with the headphone jack on it. Note, that if you are plugging directly into your gaming PC, you may need a readily available extension cable. On the plus side, because they use an old-school 3.5mm headphone jack, that makes them compatible with nearly any device with the port.
INITIAL IMPRESSIONS
After unboxing the headphones and plugging into my Windows 10 PC, I was off and going. Windows immediately asks what you plugged into the headphone port & after selecting headset, all functions of the Rig’s were working as intended. I played some music and movie clips before getting into any games. I find games can often mask inadequacies in headphones much more than high resolution music does.
At first listen, the headphones sounded fine. Nothing special and nothing to write home about. It is not that they did anything offensive, they just did not have the oomph and pop I had hoped for. For a product that has 50mm drivers, the bass was lacking and the highs, while decent, were not exceptionally bright or clear.
To be fair, speaker & headphone opinions are very subjective. What one person likes, the next one may not. So, no matter what anyone says about a speaker, I always recommend giving them a go for yourself.
DOLBY ATMOS SOFTWARE
What really makes these headphones a standout amongst their peers, is the inclusion of 2 years of Dolby Atmos and no additional charge. I went to the Windows 10 store and “Redeemed a Code”. This activated the Dolby Atmos license to my Microsoft account. So, not only was the app available on my XBox One, it was also available on my Windows 10 PC’s. AWESOME!!!!
My earlier experience with the headphones being merely satisfactory were changed! The Atmos app allows for a good deal of audio customization. You can use the pre-defined Atmos settings for Games, Movies, or Music, or create your own custom EQ curves. These settings are all accessible and customizable via the now free Dolby Access app.
The app transforms the headphones. The Dolby app opens the bottom end and creates deeper, fuller sounding bass. The highs, those still not excellent are clearer and less muddled. The Atmos app is a must have. Using the Game Mode with a compatible game is an interesting experience. Dolby Atmos involves object-based sound and using some acoustical magic, Dolby can position the in-game sounds exactly where they would be coming from if you were the one standing on the screen. It is a cool bit of techno-wizardry, that makes games even more enveloping.
NEGATIVES
There are really only 2 negatives that I can find with the Rig 500’s.
Negative 1: The cord. The cord feels cheap and flimsy. Not sure how well it is going to hold up to repeated use.
Negative 2: The volume adjuster built into the cord not only feels cheap, it also seems to really lower volume more than it increases it. I found myself leaving the volume slider at 100% and adjusting volume via the Windows or Xbox control panel. There seems to be way too much resistance built into the slider.
CONCLUSIONS
At the end of the day, these headphones are a great gaming option. They do not have a lot of whiz bang features, but they are comfortable and seem to be very well made (aside from the cord). The cups fit over my ears and the metal frame of the headphones provided just the right amount of tension on my head without becoming tiring or hurting after several long gaming sessions.
Add in a free 2-year subscription to Dolby Access and you have a great set of headphones. While out of the box, these may not sound as good as my other gaming headphones, the addition of the Dolby Atmos optimization makes these headphones an attractive alternative, and in my opinion lets them play in a territory outside their price class.
Well done. Excellent product. Recommended.

I’ve had quite a few different types of headphones, both gaming and music, and my family would say that I have too many of them. I would agree, but I feel that most headphones have a primary use case that they excel at and then fall off when it comes to other scenarios. This headset is an exception.
First, let’s get this out of the way. The headset is wired, so if you are looking for some wireless headset then maybe look somewhere else. I have my fair share of wireless headphones/headsets, and while they are convenient you do make some sacrifices. Generally speaking, the sound quality is going to be noticeably better on a good set of wired headphones, and these are no exception. Wired headphones also eliminate the worry about charging or running out of battery during a long gaming session.
So, if you are still reading then you probably are serious about getting a great wired gaming headset. First thing I am going to address is the build/comfort of this headset. After all, even if these sounded amazing (which they do), if they were super heavy or uncomfortable, then what’s the point? Luckily, this is easily one of the most comfortable headsets I have ever used. I’ve used them over the last week for extended gaming sessions or even for long work sessions, and the entire time, I have had zero discomfort from them. There’s no pressure at the top of the head, and ears feel fine even while wearing my glasses. I have a large nogging, so I had to adjust each of the cups to the largest setting, but once I did that, the fit was perfect. I love the ‘floating’ band that rest the headset on your head. This band’s elastic/stretchy feature does a great job of just molding to your head to find the perfect fit. The earcups are also very plush, and a mix of comfortable materials. The cups felt great and didn’t heat up my ears. One last thing I was worried about was the build being too heavy. I saw that it had a metal frame and thought it might get uncomfortable after a while, this has yet to be the case. Again, super comfortable even after wearing them for hours.
Sound quality, the most important part of any headset/headphones. These absolutely deliver in this department as well. They have good bass and are super clear. First game I went to as soon as I plugged the headset into my Xbox controller was Fallout 76. All the details I was able to hear were amazing. Sounds that I missed with my soundbar, or other headsets came through super clear on these. I played some rounds of Fortnite with my sons and again, great detail, able to hear precise directions of other players. The flip up mic is great. Friends I was playing online with were able to hear me clearly, and it was easy to mute myself by swinging it up. The next games I fired up to test the sound quality was FFXIV and WoW on my PC. The number of environmental sounds that I was able to hear was amazing. You could really hear the environments come to life. Again, using Discord on my PC to talk to friends was easy and they said I sounded noticeably clear. One thing I should mention is that all of this amazing sound and detail I noticed was before I used the Dolby Atmos activation code to use that app. Once I did this, the sound felt like it opened up. So much more detail and clarity. The great thing is that the code is good for 2 years of Dolby Atmos and it can be used on both your Xbox and Windows PC. Dolby Atmos allows you to adjust the EQ to your taste as well as giving you a great surround sound effect. Once you use this it will be hard to go back.
This headset is amazing. A super easy recommendation for anyone looking for a great wired headset to use on your Xbox/PC. You get fantastic sound, Dolby Atmos, solid build quality, and they are super comfortable. The inline volume slider, flip up mic to mute, and design are simple but elegant. No need to break the bank for some high-quality gaming headphones. As an extra bonus, I have used them for hours of music listening and they also sound superb. Bass could be a little stronger, but I listen to a lot of hip-hop and they sounded nice.

First, I personally appreciate the industrial cyberpunk-esque design language of the 500 HX. They are also built like a tank. The head crown is made of flexible steel while the headband has this suspension design which is made of soft faux leather with fabric underneath. The side arms and cups are made of sturdy plastic. The earpads are made of a pleather/fabric combo and are well stitched together. Most of the finish stays smudge and fingerprint-free. The flat cable is a bit stiff, and I would’ve liked to have a bit more length, or at least be able to remove or replace it. While the mic cannot be detached, I like that it can be stowed away and how flexible it is. The robust volume slider is in a good place. Overall great build quality.
Now, I found these headphones quite comfortable. The actual headband sits lightly on my head, and I did not feel any soreness, even after playing for a couple of hours straight. The inner fabric padding allows for some breathing room, so I did not experience any overheating or sweating. While some may be done with wired headsets, I found that it did not distract me at all.
The sound quality is what you would expect from a good 50mm gaming headset. There is a decent amount of bass, which is punchy without being sloppy. The midrange is neutral and allows vocals, dialogue, background music, and ambient sound to come through. The treble is well represented and adds a lot of clarity, without being harsh or fatiguing. These cans handled whatever music genre I threw at them quite well.
Listening to these headphones with Dolby ATMOS on (provided by Nanco), the sound became much more exciting and enjoyable. There is more sub-bass, fullness, and the channel separation is much more distinct. The soundstage opens wider, allowing for more accurate sound placement. The immersion is extended due to the good isolation the earpads provide. While I still prefer stereo for certain competitive games, I found this great for casual games and movies.
The directional microphone works as intended. It may not be at the same level as a dedicated mic, but I found my voice well represented -perhaps because of the pop-blocker foam, and I never heard a complaint or asked to repeat myself in any meeting. It also did a good job in blocking ambient noise, although people still heard my mechanical keyboard.
Perhaps the aesthetics and wired design may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I rather like it. More importantly, the 500 Pro HX are super comfortable, deliver great sound, and allow for clear communications. All of this at a very competitive price.

--- SETUP ---
The RIG 500 Pro for Xbox headset is easy to set up. It comes with a non-detachable auxiliary cable and a removable mic that you have to plug in. Once that’s done, scratch the code for Dolby Atmos and redeem it in the Xbox itself. You’ll have 2 years of Dolby Atmos, which makes your headset have 3D virtual surround sound.
--- FEATURES ---
Flip-up mic mute, wired headset, three different head sizes, light and comfortable, Dolby Atmos 2 year activation code.
--- PERFORMANCE ---
This headset performs great. Once you go into the Xbox setting and turn on the Dolby Atmos feature, you can immediately test out virtual surround sound with many games. You’ll be able to tell what direction you’re getting shot at, an explosion happened, or a character is talking from. The microphone works great as well. I got my gang together and we played hours of Dead by Daylight with Xbox Party Chat. I usually use a higher end headset, but my friends couldn’t tell the difference that I was talking with them through a new mic, as they usually bring it up to my attention when I switch out headsets. In games like DBD, directional audio is crucial to surviving. Many perks rely on audio perks and with Dolby Atmos, this headset does a great job clueing me where the danger is coming from.
--- EXPECTATIONS ---
At its price point, this is a great entry-level headset. That being said, if you’ve tried some higher end headsets, you’ll notice some lacking features.
For one, this headset has a limited adjustable frame. To adjust the frame, you unhook each ear cup and can move it up or down 1 of three crevices. If you never plan to readjust your headset, then you’ll be ok, as there is a strap that adjusts by stretching it when you put it on. If, however, you’re like me, I put on headsets over my head with different hair styles or with different caps. Removing and reconnecting the ear cups each time I want to try a different size doesn’t take long, but it takes longer than other headsets where you can just readjust by sliding the ear cups along the frame.
Secondly, this headset doesn’t have Active Noise Canceling, or ANC. If you’ve never used ANC, then you don’t know what you’re missing and you’ll be fine. Again, as an entry level headset and at it’s price, I don’t expect it to have ANC. If you have a noisy home, the ear cups will reduce external noise during your playthrough, but some will still bleed in and you’ll be able to hear it faintly. This could be a plus or a minus for you.
On a more positive side, this headset is very light and comfortable at 8+ hours of gameplay.
--- VALUE ---
If you’ve never owned a headset and you want to experience surround sound without the premium price, this is the way to go.
--- APPROVAL ---
I recommend this headset to new headset purchasers or parents who want to buy an Xbox and a headset for their child. It’s a great way to start on a great path to auditory greatness.

As soon as I pulled these from the packaging I knew they were durable. They are made with metal, combined with plastic. The headband is metal and the rest is made with plastic. The design is phenomenal, great looking pair of a gaming headset. I dont think they're too bulking looking and they are really light weight compared to others. I like the fact that these have a removable mic in case you're not playing with friends you can easily just detach and store away. You can also just flip the mic up to turn it off.
Sound quality is top notch, paired with the dolby atmos you cannot go wrong with these. I've played COD and Forza with these so far and they really immerse you in the game play. The only thing I'm not a real fan of is the inline volume controls. I feel they should be closer to the controller. If you're in an intense situation you may not feel comfortable reaching up to turn the volume up or down. I feel having it like the last model and attached to the controller its self would better suite gamers.
Over all these are some of the best midrange gaming headsets you can buy right now. They sound great and look slick.

i use my SteelSeries 9x headset i got from Best buy and enjoy it.
I wanted to get one for my wife since we play COD together and this RIG 500 was an inexpensive headset that is wired and lightweight so we tried that.
She really loves it and I have tried it and think its very good quality and amazingly light.
Sound wise i cant tell the difference, she sounds great in game and so does my headset (obviously hers is wired to the controller, versus wireless for my steelseries, but hers is ALOT $$$ saved for a great headset).
The biggest positive (and yes I have had other RIG headsets) is simplicity, the controls for volume is easy to get to the mute feature is a matter of just raising the mic up.
Another huge positive is the comfort for long play sessions, its light with nice comfortable ear pieces/speakers...
So ya if you own a Xbox and want a good quality product that you dont want to spend close to 200.00 then this is the one for you!

I have started venturing into online gaming with both my laptop and XBox system. I was glad to have come across this RIG headset, as my old wired Beats Solo have begin falling apart. After a few weeks with this headset here are my thoughts.
First of all, these are very large for my head in a good way. There is a very comfortable band that rests on top of my head. It is adjustable to two settings which is not great. I thought They were removable but noticed they are tethered onto the ear pieces. Speaking of thick, the ear pieces are also very soft and rest over-the-ear.
At the tip of the left side is tue adjustable mic, that is moveable in an up/down position. Using on Zoom calls, the pick up of my voice was clear and crisp. Sound is great on these. I noticed no distortions at all.
The only issue I had was that they are wired headsets. Using them on my gaming laptop, I could either connect them to the 3.5 jack on the laptop itself or in the a lot at the bottom of the XBox controller itself. I wished they came in an wireless edition as it can get easily tangled.
Overall, I’ve enjoyed using these when gaming and they are a good replacement to my current headset.

My first impression when I pulled the headset out of the box was that the headset appeared to be a very simple headset and mic setup. There weren't any additional peripherals. The headset included the standard detachable microphone and typical 3.5 mm auxiliary jack.
When evaluating headsets/headphones I look for the following features:
Sound Quality
Comfort
Additional Features
The headset provides some impressive sound for the price, I've listened to music with various types, such as Rap, Blues, EDM and compliments all sorts of music types very well. In addition the sound you get from gaming is top-notch, and I find the best feature to the sound is the bass, it's pretty impressive surprisingly for such a standard headset.
As far as comfort, this is by far my most comfortable headset I've owned. It's not super heavy on the head and there is a little cushion pad that runs across the top of the headset that makes it really comfy. Most headsets allow you to slide the earpieces up or down on the fly to adjust the headset size, the adjustment on this headset isn't as nice although it seems to work, it just requires you to pop the earpiece out from the frame of the headset and place it within 1 of 3 adjustable slots.
The additional features are limited on this headset, the headset's cord comes with a volume adjuster and a detachable mic that can be muted by moving the position from down to up, other than that there's not many other features to this headset.
Overall the headset isn't super flashy, but the important items like sound quality and comfort meet my criteria of a solid headset.

Comfortable to wear for long sessions and the audio is clear for both games and chat. Mic quality is good enough that my friends noticed the upgrade. Feels sturdy without being heavy.

A Must-Have Headset

The RIG 500 Pro HX has now become an essential part of my gaming experience. This headset produces great sound natively, but Dolby Atmos gives this product the upper hand over competitors. Once you've paired this with Atmos, it's difficult to revert back to your prior headset. The biggest compliment I can give about the RIG Pro is that it is ultra comfortable. There was no sweating on the ear cups or tension around my eyeglasses. The biggest drawback with this headset is the mic. The mic sound is above average, but not perfect. The quality of the headset is plastic, but doesn't feel cheaply made which is a positive. I enjoyed this headset and will continue to use it for as long as I can.
