We want to ensure your device is working as intended by providing you with solutions to resolve the concern you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like you experienced some connection issues with the device. Usually, devices video freezeing repeatedly is related to poor wifi connectivity caused by signal fluctuations, channel congestion, or data loss.
To determine whether the problem is caused by poor upload speed, run a speed test to determine if your network can support Ring devices. In addition to ensuring that you have sufficient wifi speeds, you will also want to check the signal strength of your device. Ring devices that show higher resolution video need faster internet. For our 4K models, a minimum upload speed of 15 Mbps is recommended, and video resolution may vary depending on internet bandwidth.
A poor wifi signal can cause connectivity with your Ring device to be unreliable. Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI.

Posted .Hi user191935.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand how important it is for your Ring Wired Doorbell Pro (3nd Gen.) to function consistently and reliably, so you are alerted to any wanted or unwanted activity in or around your home. The features and technology provided by the Ring Wired Doorbell Pro (3nd Gen.) are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. The Ring Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen) comes with the Chime Kit Mini, a compact device that seamlessly replaces your existing doorbell chime functionality. It installs above your existing chime box and delivers clear, high-quality chime sounds without requiring WiFi setup. When someone presses your doorbell, the Chime Kit Mini activates within less than a second, providing reliable alerts throughout your home.
If you have installed Chime Kit Mini but can’t hear a chime inside your home, try the following troubleshooting steps:
Important! Turn off power at the circuit breaker before examining your wiring.
Check to see that your power has been restored at the circuit breaker.
Check your doorbell wiring and Chime Kit Mini wiring to make sure it is secure.
Your doorbell might not be getting enough power - consult an electrician.

The latest but still requires some extra
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Now this is part of my first steps into the world of Ring. There were alot of things that I was not aware of. From the get go, I had a bit of a hiccup. It's a wired doorbell so it does require an existing wired system for it to function. It is compatible with most wired doorbell systems. Now, this might be common knowledge but it was news to me that your existing mechanical chime does not work with this system. That is why the Chime Kit Mini is included. It is only capable of one sound and one sound only. If you are not a fan of the sound, then you are out of luck. Otherwise, you have to buy an additional Chime speaker. This is unfortunate. Video quality is nice. I actually can compare it to a 2K Ring doorbell. The difference in image quality is definitely noticeable. The night images are also impressive. However, I do question whether it is worth the significant difference in price. As far as I can tell, there isn't really any difference in functionality between the two although I may be wrong. Another thing worth noting is that you need a subscription if you want to have the option of saving recordings. All in all, video quality is nice. However, you do need to spend a bit more money to truly unlock the full benefits. Given the already high premium you are paying, this may be a turnoff for some.

No better than 2k
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm upgrading from the 2k Battery Pro and this Pro 3, even though they claim 4k, isn't really better than my 2K camera from last year. Kinda disappointing on that front, but it's still a decent camera. Not sure if they're resampling the image digitally instead of actually capturing in 4K base on the quality differences. The good thing is that night vision is far better than the Battery Pro. One thing that's gone downhill big time with Ring is motion sensing. I'm not sure when they made it so bad but I can now have huge delivery trucks pull in my yard and the motion sensing ignores it. With the same cameras I used to catch small critters running through my yard and every car that passes by. Now, sometimes it'll give me a notification of a package but no video of who/what dropped it off. I was hoping the Pro Gen 3 would be better, but there's no difference. Even cranking all settings to max/lowest battery life it missed the delivery driver yesterday. Bad for a security camera to miss security events. This poor motion capture occurs with all my Ring Cameras, not just the doorbell. They used to be perfect. The installation was pretty straightforward, but since I'm coming from the bigger versions I need an backing plate to cover the old holes. I have one on order but the date has been pushed back. If you're coming from the bigger cameras you may need one also. Maybe if I wasn't upgrading from a 2K camera I may have rated it higher, but since there's not much visual improvement the resolution "upgrade" isn't a worthwhile feature. It's still a decent camera, but just didn't meet my expectations as an upgrade from an older model.

It sounds like you have some concerns with the video quality and motion detection of your device. If your device appears to be missing a lot of motion, you may want to check the motion frequency setting. The motion frequency control allows you to reduce alerts from repetitive patterns of motion or increase alerts so you get notified about the motion events that matter to you.
Follow these steps to adjust the motion frequency:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left of the Dashboard.
Tap Devices.
Select the device you'd like to adjust.
Tap Motion Settings.
Tap Advanced Settings.
Tap Motion Frequency.
Select Frequently, Regularly or Periodically.
Frequently: Motion detection always stays active. Shortest battery life.
Regularly: Motion detection takes a short break after each Motion Alert. Medium battery life.
Periodically: Motion detection takes a longer break after each alert. Maximum battery life.
Tap Save in the upper-right corner.

4K resolution. Slimmer. Best with Amazon ecosystem
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're familiar with the Amazon's Ring doorbell, you'll pretty much know what to expect from this Wired Doorbell Pro 3rd gen. The main selling point of the Wired Pro 3rd gen is the 4k resolution, which is 2880 x 2880. It also has a slimmer design, which in my opinion, not only makes it look better than the rest of the Ring family of doorbells but it makes it a little bit easier to place in narrower areas when you're mounting it for those with mounting area space. Installation was simple, despite it being wired. From the app, you'll find step-by-step visual instructions to install it after you try to add your doorbell to the app. You'll need to be able to cut the power to your doorbell and your chime from the circuit breaker, but after you do, it's as simple as connecting 2 cables to them. You *may* need a power drill for mounting, but it depends on the material you're mounting it to. For most wood surfaces, you won't. But it's a relatively easy do-it-yourself installation. As usual with Ring, to view your history of events you'll need a subscription. You can use the Wired Doorbell Pro without a subscription, but you'd only be limited to live events. There's no internal storage on the Doorbell Pro, so nothing will be saved. Through the subscription, you're history of events is saved on Amazon's cloud storage. I think for most people, it's pretty not worth buying without the subscription, because if someone stole your package, you'd need to view the video as it's happening to be aware of it. If you're not quick enough to get to your video, you'll miss it. The AI features are only available through a subscription plan, so you won't get a notification detailing that a package was taken. Of the 2 major video doorbells with subscriptions, Ring has the cheaper starting point, which is 50% less than Google's cheapest offer. Ring also offers sales every now and then, so it can be had for even less. But for both, to take advantage of the AI features, you need to be subscribed to their most expensive plan. But something I've liked about the subscription model is that multiple users can view the live video of the doorbell simultaneously. With a local storage doorbell I used to own, only one user could access the doorbell at a time. You can also view your doorbell from a browser at Ring.com. The Ring Wired Doorbell Pro works on 2.4GHz wifi and 5GHz wifi. If you're wifi setup is anything like mine, the connection runs faster on 5GHz, which is helpful with the larger 4K video we're now streaming. However, the range for 5GHz isn't as long as 2.4GHz, so that's something to keep in mind with regards to your router or access point's placement. Ring will scale the video quality according to your connection, so you'll always get a visual- it just may not be 4k your connection isn't fast enough to support it. Unfortunately, in my previous video doorbell setups, I lived in an apartment, where the hallways were always lit, so I was never able to see how night vision performs to compare it to this Wired Doorbell Pro 3rd gen. But I've since moved, and with this doorbell I've set it up outdoor. I found the Doorbell Pro's night vision really clear. Likewise, with lights on during the night. My only caveat with these scenarios is that the frame rate is noticeably less than in daylight, which is clearly it's optimal condition for video quality. The 10x zoom is a digital zoom, so it's just blowing up the pixels. The catch is, with the higher resolution to work with, the digital zoom looks clearer. Your mileage may vary on whether you'll be able to read small print or notice minor details though, because several factors can affect video quality, like connection quality and low lighting. Ring works at its very best if you have Echo Show devices. With them, you'll get a visual notification anytime someone presses the doorbell. It just works natively. It also acts as another chime. I found this invaluable because you'd be surprised how often your phone is least convenient way to get notified. For instance, if you're in the shower. If you have one in the bathroom, it's simple- it just shows up on the display accompanied with the chime sound. No fiddling around with the phone in running water. Or in the kitchen while you're cooking. Your hands are dirty. Or you just can't be bothered to reach for your phone. The doorbell video will just show up on the Echo Show without you needing to do anything. Pros: -4K resolution video -slimmer and more attractive design -Cheaper subscription starting point -Seamless addition to the Amazon ecosystem Cons: -Storage requires subscription (no local storage) -Will not work in a power outage (no battery) -Video doorbell notifications not compatible with Google displays (Nest Home Hub, Google TV) -AI features are only available to Ring Home Premium plan subscribers

Solid choice from a reputable company.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this doorbell for two reasons. I was a satisfied owner of the Ring Doorbell like 5-6 years ago (but we have moved since then I did not bother to get a replacement) and because this 3rd generation offers a 4K resolution. I did learn over the years how important the resolution of the security camera is especially if you want to zoom in for a closer look and still see details clearly. In the box I got everything that I needed, including the corner unit, which was a static 20 degrees. But since the camera view is 140 degrees (or 70 degrees each side), adding extra 20 degrees with the corner unit gave me a the result full 90 degrees, so nothing was cut off. And it was not as I saw after the install. There are no detailed installation instructions included , you get them from the app that you need to install first. Some aspects of the install with the corner unit weren’t precise enough, which lead to some back and forths during the install. But eventually I managed fine. This doorbell will not work with the house existing doorbell unit that make the doorbell sounds. Instead this Ring doorbell comes with a small sound making device that they ask you to connect to the wiring of the existing house doorbell unit. The sound it makes is not the most pleasing one but definitely not that bad. You cannot select in the included unit how the doorbell sounds, there is only one way you will hear it. If you don’t like the sound of the provided unit you can get the Ring’s more advanced unit that works on WiFi and you plug it into the outlet, then connect with the system in the app. They say you have more sound options in that plug in unit. I did not bother to buy it so I cannot comment if it is good or not. The resolution of the camera is truly great. The video is very clear. Depending on the settings in the app you can get notifications through the app that someone is approaching the door. You can set it up to notice if packages were delivered. There is one important caveat with the app though. Apparently it does not like when you have a VPN on. If you’re logged out and want to log in, it will not allow you to log in, instead it will take you through all the steps like your Unser name and password or paskey, then still the special 6 digits code sent via text, but then the app produces the message that verification failed. To log in you need to temporarily disable the VPN for the time you’re logging in. After you’re in you can put the VPN back on and then app will operate fine. Overall I do like the equipment and the app is fine. The ringing sound from the included mini device is okay, though not the best. We don’t have many people ringing our bell so I don’t care much about the sound of the ring. The best for me is the quality of the image the camera produces. Though the camera loses colors after dark. Which is fine with me. Overall a good addition from a company that served me well in the past.

Great product, be sure to do your homework first!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ring 3rd generation wired Doorbell Pro is a solid offering from Amazon and has improved consistently as it has evolved. The product is solidly built and features excellent video via its 4k camera even in low light conditions. There is a 10x digital zoom and advanced motion sensing capability. The fish eye lens offers a 140 degree field of view which is a nice compromise between providing an adequate field of view without being too distorted. Ring has also improved their object and motion detection to reduce false alerts. There is also 2 way audio and everything is managed through the Ring app. You can also interact with the doorbell through Alexa. The app will walk you through several security steps and confirmations that assure that only YOU will be able to view the video. Everything you need to physically mount and power the camera is included and there is even additional hardware to accommodate mounting the unit at an angle. The doorbell attaches to a mount that is completely covered by the camera body and secured by security screws with non-standard slotted heads so that someone cannot casually tear it off the wall. Before you buy this unit be sure to check the compatibility of your existing doorbell system with the Ring. In the best case you will simply unscrew your old doorbell from the outside wall, disconnect the wires, reconnect them to the Ring, remount it to the wall, configure the unit in the app and you will be off to the races! Unfortunately my experience was not so smooth. I discovered that my existing gear was not going to work. So I ordered their external power adapter and was able to power the Ring unit up. However, I was expecting to be able to connect the included chime so that I would have an audible notification when someone pressed the bell (just like my old unit). That is NOT the case. If you want an external chime you must buy yet another kit that provides you with an external device that will communicate with the doorbell over WiFi to provide an audible alert. So, what I have is an extremely nice doorbell camera and notification system that really is only usable through my cellphone. Like several other devices this unit also requires a subscription service to fully utilize the advanced features or to provide long term storage. In summary - don't be me! Do your research ahead of time. This is a quality product and provides excellent security for your home.

They keep getting better
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I jumped onboard the Ring train a long time ago. I originally invested in the Gen 1 wired doorbell, then the Gen 2 doorbell and also the Gen 1 floodlight camera with an upgrade to Gen 2 and now I've upgraded to the Gen 3 doorbell camera. All give me the piece of mind and security that a couple of aging boomers need. With each generation the features get better and better. With Gen 3 you gain Retinal 4K camera with 10X zoom resulting in a super clear video image not to mention the low-low light color imaging and crystal clear black and white when completely dark. Installation was really easy for me since I was upgrading from a slightly older Gen 2 doorbell. The step by step instructions were easy to follow. The wired doorbell does require an existing wired doorbell (non-Ring is okay) to get it's power. They included an electronic bell in the event your existing bell requires more power than the Ring can provide. Installation of that is more like a piggy back of your existing doorbell and is almost unnoticeable. The Ring app lets you set up motion detection sensitivity, motion zones and alerts and notifications. As with almost anything these days a monthly subscription is required but well worth the piece of mind. You get motion alerts, notification when the doorbell has been rung and you can even have a 2 way conversation with the person ringing the bell even if you are off on vacation or out for dinner (as long as you have internet connection). I almost forgot to mention that Ring is an Amazon company and are Alexa compatible. With Alexa app you can even link your Ring and setup a skill, so you can get notifications on your Amazon Echos (if you have any). I'm really sold on Ring products

High Quality and Useful Doorbell
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This next gen Ring doorbell is really nice! I like that it is smaller and sleeker than previous versions, and the quality of the video is also really good. Out of the box it took me a while to get it installed. There are lots of steps in the installation process but the app does a pretty good job of explaining what to do. When I went to mount it on my vinyl siding the screws didn't reach any spots that would level it, so I had to order a wedge kit specific to the new model. Once I received that it was pretty easy to mount exactly where the old doorbell was. Once installed, it is easy to setup the wifi and the app to control your device. I also installed the inside chime and linked the doorbell to Alexa so that all the Alexa devices in my house announce when someone is at the door. There are lots of options in the app and I haven't had a chance to explore them all, but I did set mine to only identify people and packages, and also chose the setting to be able to answer the doorbell on my phone or ipad so that I can talk and see whoever is at the door even when I'm not home. I'm looking forward to familiarizing myself more with the app and the other capabilities. I will probably continue the trial subscription once the free trial expires. Overall, this is a hiqh quality and extremely useful doorbell. I would recommend it.

Incredibly clear quality and reliable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been in the ring ecosystem for 7 years now and I am glad that they are always consistently upgrading their hardware and also software to be easy to use, and solid quality. This doorbell definitely is a huge step up from my old ring gen 1 pro doorbell. That one only recorded up to 1080p and was just basic, which isn’t bad, but today it just isn’t up to par with the technology that exists. However, the 3rd gen is a massive step up from gen 1 and 2. The biggest difference obviously being that now it records in 4k HDR. The design is also nice, the unit has been slimmed down and given a more modern aesthetic. Installation was… a little more complex than I had originally anticipated. I did not know that this doorbell requires a higher power transformer than what my house already had. It requires at least a 30V transformer and my old one capped at 10. So just be aware of this, if you have an old doorbell transformer, you most likely need to wire a new one in. This wasn’t hard for me, just was annoying that I had to go buy one and then install it, but it seems to be worth it because now I can record 24/7 and the connection is stable as a rock. Everything else in the app is the same, it’s just the hardware that has been upgraded. Honestly, even if you use a gen 2 I would upgrade for the picture quality alone. The stream is reliable. Now I can’t wait for the flood cam to be 4k and try that out!! Good job ring, you knocked it out the park with this doorbell.

Decent upgrade from prior gen Pro doorbell
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received this Ring Wired Doorbell Pro 3rd Gen 4K a week ago as an upgrade from my 2nd gen wired Ring Doorbell Pro. No real issues with the old one, just wanted some of the upgraded features of the new one. Pretty straight forward setup, similar to the one I was replacing. Drilled new holes into the brick just because of the larger size and how I wanted to position the mount for it. Same wires attaching to the doorbell. However, my reason for knocking off a star, I do not like that I could no longer use my mechanical chime as I had with my prior and all other doorbells in this house. They provide a little chime adapter that I had to mount external to the cover of my mechanical chime. Guessing Ring found they need direct and constant power for this 3rd gen 4K model? Really disappointing. I don’t like the tone on this included adapter and might need to now go purchase a separate Ring Chime so the upstairs can hear the doorbell better. App settings are all similar to the other Ring doorbell I had and detection settings and alerts super easy to set as well. Compared to the prior Ring doorbell, the field of view is a little wider and sharper, especially at night (so I can see animals running all over my porch 😊). I would recommend this doorbell still, despite the disappointment with the chime. Not cheap, but hopefully it can be found on sale in the near future. I hope this works well when temperatures dip to below freezing with winter upon us.
