Awesome Picture but Finicky Auto Function
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture quality is awesome!!! However, the auto function is a bit finicky and can't hookup MacBook to watch movie from laptop (Need to install firmware). My old Samsung TV didn't have this problem, where I need to install firmware. The remote control sync with Bose speaker is not as smooth as it should be. Overall, I'll buy this TV again (recommend) based on great picture, but need to be a bit patient and do some additional research on how to setup with other components (Bose speaker, Apple TV, DVD Player, etc.) as paper manual/instruction that comes with the box is too basic.

THE BEST TV ON THE MARKET
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the OLED's but the 65KS9800 is way more worth the price tag then the OLED. The Full Array Backlighting makes the TV great for ANY lighting environment. around 5 O'clock every day the sun shines into the room and partly hits the right part of the TV. Even with the sun hitting, it makes little to no change to the picture which is AMAZING!! The black levels are also noticeably better then any other TV (besides OLED) that I've seen while pumping out amazing/Vibrant colors. And the NFL on there looks almost better then being there. If you want the best tv for the best dollar, this is the way to go

Good TV but has issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying that I'm huge fan of Samsung TV's but I feel that Samsung dropped the ball this year in performance on their line up's. I purchased the KS9800 in early July to replace the KS9500 which I had purchased earlier in the year. First impressions were great. Easy set up, Awesome picture with stunning and bright colors, black levels are excellent and as close as it gets to an OLED, HDR performs great and the Tizen operation system is easy to use and looks good. Since this set is an FALD set, there is not a noticeable amount of backlight bleeding but occasionally you can still see a spot here and there when viewed at an angle. The moth display does reduces glare but doesn't eliminate all the glare. After 2 days of using this set....I came accross the following issues: Auto Detect HDMI feature is painful specially when using a AV receiver. I would have the universal remote set up to work with the AV receiver and the DirecTV STB and once the AUTO HDMI would detect a new source, it would override the previous set up and attempt to work with the new source. Tuning off the new source did not default back to the original set up. Which means, if I wanted to use the remote with the AV RECEIVER again, I had to redo the set up. To fix this, I had to unplug the HDMI for other device such the Apple TV so that the remote would keep it's original set up. Next issue and the most important issue to me is the handling of fast motion. I personally like to have the AUTO MOTION PLUS feature enabled as I do like how life like the a movie can be. Having this feature on will also give you the Soap Opera effect which some like and some don't. While watching the beginning 5 minutes of Fast and the Furious on Blu Ray, I noticed that the set had issues with keeping up with the fast moving and switching scenes. The picture would all of sudden flicker and cause digitalization. To test this out further, I started watching the same movie and scene on VUDU (btw...the VUDU app itself has issues and sometimes doesn't work and you cannot re-install the app and need to do a smart hub factory reset to get the app working again) and the same issue appeared. So I tested other movies and sources like a 4K UHD Blu Ray and Netflix and the issue remained including while watching a normal TV programming like DirecTV. This for me was a deal breaker so I asked for replacement unit which I received this week. Upon setting up the second unit, I came accross the same issues. For some bizzad reason, this set has issues with handling fast moving/switching scenes which is weird for me as Samsung's promotes that it handles motion well with it's Motion Plus 240. You can turn the AUTO MOTION PLUS feature off but I felt that I was loosing something a feature that I personally want to use. Other issues that I found included VUDU App issues and no UHD support Local Dimming still needs tweaking. The picture can go from bright to dark and bright again depending on the scene. Noticeable a lot during Star Trek TNG opening theme. The "fast start" feature on this set is always enabled. Previously you could decide if you wanted this feature on or off. By having it on, the TV does boot up faster but it appears that it never shuts down correctly which causes issues with the apps not shutting down correctly. On occasions there is a noticeable haloing. Very detectable during credit scenes with a black background. Overall, good and bright picture with great black levels. This TV has great potential but needs some work and attention. Because of this and some other reasons, I decided to skip Samsung this year and go with the Sony 940D.

Best TV Ever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgraded from my 2011 Sony LED that was amazing in itself but after setting this tv up with my Xbox One S and started watching 4K content I was completely blown away by the picture quality and the quality of the build. Games and everything else look incredible, well worth the asking price.

Don't get fooled by the nice specs on paper.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had high expectations as this was supposed to be Samsung's flagship model for 2016. In reality, the TV does not work properly, and Samsung Service has not been able to fix it. When watching an HDMI video source in Game Mode I get flashing, vertical blue lines on the screen. This happens regardless of which HDMI input I use, which device I use, which resolution, which color bit depth, which HDMI Cables, etc. Samsung said the issues were caused by a faulty One Connect box, and sent me a new one, which did not fix the issue. My case is not an isolated case, or a quality control issue. After searching, I now see online (in Samsung Forums, Reddit, PlayStation Forums, etc.) that this is a common issue for hundreds of other people with the 2016&2015 Samsung TVs in Game Mode. No one that has reported this issue has had it resolved over the past 2 years. My TV is still under Warranty for repair, but Samsung has been dragging out the process for months, and still no fix. Samsung's Warranty only covers repair (which doesn't work), and it does not cover replacement, or refund, so I guess they expect me just to throw away $3,000 for a broken product. They are wasting my time, holding my money and my TV hostage, while they stall and pretend to try and fix it, until my warranty coverage expires. I remember years ago when Samsung TVs used to work properly, but it seems like their business model changed to charging a premium for a "lemon" or just a completely broken product. By the way, this "Premium" TV has built in *Pop-up Ads*. Yes, you read that right. Pop. Up. Advertisements. You are not able to disable this Spam anywhere in the TV settings. Some misguided people will try to tell you that you can disable/opt-out of the ads, but they are mistakenly referring to 2015/JS model Samsung TVs, which have a different firmware. If you purchase this TV, then you will be subjected to Pop-Up Ads while you are trying to watch TV. Welcome to the future, people! On the 2016/KS model TVs, you *cannot* disable them, unless you completely disconnect the TV from the internet (which means that you can't watch 4K Netflix, use the YouTube app, or other smart features).

Great picture but hardware/software issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picture quality is outright awesome - Fades quite a bit as you move sideways from the center but that's okay with me. My biggest complaint is about its software and hardware quality. I first bought the TV in February 2017 and then returned it after couple of weeks as the TV won't detect my home wifi all of a sudden. Samsung customer service and my internet provider couldn't solve the issue. Bought the TV again, just because of the picture quality. After few weeks, a thin dotted line started to show at the bottom of the screen. Returned it eventually as customer service said it could be an LCD/hardware issue and a technician needs to see it. Bought it again - hoping it was sheer bad luck.

Great TV but bad Geek Squad Scheduling
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV is great. I am giving 3/5 for poor geek squad scheduling services. I ordered this TV online on Nov 24 and was scheduled for delivery that weekend. I bought their geek squad TV connect & mounting services for $200. I was instructed to call geek squad to schedule this appointment. They instructed me to move my delivery to Dec 10 so that geek squad can do mounting with delivery. They did delivered this TV on Dec 10 but I was told that no geek squad scheduling was done for that day. When I called geek squad, they gave me appointment for Dec 24- exactly 1 month after I placed this order. I will recommend not using their geek squad services. Instead use local carpenter services. Learned my lesson.
