Do not trust the good reviews
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Please do your research before deciding to buy this TV. I ordered this tv and when I watched a movie I thougt their was glare on the TV so I shut off all the lights and blocked out all light from the windows and the top left corner and half way across the screen was lighter than the rest of the tv on darker screens. Thought it was a defective tv so best buy (who was great during this whole process) brought a new one. Did the same thing as the last one. Then I started googling it and apparently this is just a part of this tv because the contrast is so bad. I can’t believe samsung sells this tv. It should not be on the market. I would give it zero stars if I could.

Disappointed and exchange for TCL
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Terrible choice as it had a bad spot at top that was apparently an issue with backlight. Samsung Rep suggested a TCL. Samsung also has a issue with major delay and skips with the DirectTV app they don’t seems to want to fix. Love the TCL, great picture and was $250 cheaper.

DO NOT BUY. Light washed dark scenes.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. On bright scenes the picture quality is great. However in any dark scene, the top of the screen becomes washed out with light, almost cloudy. I have gotten the panel replaced once already, and the replacement is even worse.

Terrible light bleed
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great color but the light bleed is horrendous to look at. Paid good money for this tv and i cant get over how much the light bleeds thru the screen. Every cut scene on a movie i see the bleed and it drives me crazy! If it was a $300-500 tv i wouldnt care but this was crazy expensive. Id look elsewhere if you have the same problem of looking over details.

Backlight bleed is HORRIBLE
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this and had a horrible light bleed to the top left. Replaced it, and same exact problem. Not to mention this is the second time I’ve hung it. After seeing all the reviews stay away from this tv. Best Buy has been great but it shouldn’t sell these with all the bad reviews going on about the same problem. I am at least returning it during the 30 day period, but feel bad for any of those that missed that window. It’s unbearable for a $1200 tv.

Rod of Brightness
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worst Samsung product I have ever bought. Only a month old and the brightness issue of what appears to be a white rod in the center of the TV. The appears on a dark screen and at night it’s the worst and highly annoying to watch. Samsung has come out to see if the can fix it but haven’t had an answer.

Horrible backlight ruins dark scenes
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolutely terrible tv. The backlight bleeds through and makes any black screen grey. Text on black screens have a weird white glow around them. Do not buy this tv go up to the 90 when they start using Neo or buy the much better C1 OLED

Avoid this tv
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You cannot watch dark/black images on this tv due to the bleeding. There is a very large box of discoloration on the top left that is consistent with other reviews here. Piece of junk
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've had this Samsung TV for just over one year ... great picture but otherwise, what a sorry piece of junk! Almost every time we watch HULU (which came pre-installed) we have to exit HULU and watch regular over the air TV for at least 15 minutes to avoid HULU refusing to load the next time we want to watch it. The only way to fix the problem is to unplug the TV for a minute or two ... THEN, HULU will load properly. There is no way to reset the TV or reinstall the HULU APP. To add insult to injury, the remote is recharged via light in lieu of changing the batteries. Two days ago the remote stopped holding a charge. Now we have to hold the remote under a light source each day before the remote will work. We will NEVER AGAIN purchase a Samsung product. NEVER.

No Thanks!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is literally the worst TV I have ever owned. Just purchased this TV and the picture is horrible. Support cannot do anything to help. I have changed all settings on it and gone to the expert settings and tried that as well. Literally nothing I do works. If the channel is 4K then the picture is good. If the channel is not 4K, good luck not getting a headache trying to figure out what you are watching. Streaming is good with good picture, but normal television that isnt 4K sucks. And no there isn't a protective film across the front of the television either. I've had the television for a few days anditerally tried just about every setting i could think of and it does not make a difference at all. Definitely taking this television back. My 5 hear old samsung has better picture quality than this one.

Posted .Hello Research12,
Thank you for your review of the Samsung Q80A TV. Your feedback is very important to us and will be shared with our internal product team. To optimize your picture quality, please be sure your firmware is up to date with version 1560.5 which includes picture quality updates. You can check this by going to: Settings > Support > Software Update.
Please keep in mind, the image quality on your screen depends on the source and the connection. HDMI cables are recommended for optimal HD viewing; and when possible, 4K content will provide the best picture quality. The TV will upscale as best as possible any content sent to it. The closer the signal is to 4K, the better it will look coming out.
If there is anything we can do to improve your experience such as helping to optimize settings, please let us know. You can reach Samsung Customer Support at 1-800-SAMSUNG (ask for TVs), available 8AM -12AM EST M-F (9AM – 6PM EST Sat). Or text HELP to 62913.

Great for viewing live programs but not movies
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a Samsung HL61 (61" DLP) that I purchased back in 2007 and it finally gave out. Loved it, so I purchased this 65" Q80A QLED and for watching live TV, such as the news or live sports, the picture was fantastic. The issue was watching older programs or movies, the picture was way off and looked terrible. I spent two days trying to do adjustments and researched every YouTube video on trying to correct the issue, but couldn't. Had to go back to Best Buy and exchanged it for the 75" Sony Bravia X95J which has a perfect picture without having a make any adjustments.

Samsung lost a customer
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First unit had pixels out and was exchanged for same model. Second unit had extremely uneven backlighting and had a large white cloud in the top 1/3 of unit as well as uneven lighting on bottom of screen so darks would never look dark only hazy. Second unit was returned and we ended up purchasing an LG C1 oled and are extremely happy with it. Best tv I have ever seen period! Unbelievable detail and remarkable color! We had no trouble in the exchange and return process through Best Buy, they were great to work with.

Bad service and product by Samsung.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do not buy this television. After bringing the television back home I noticed all dark scenes in movies or shows were washed out (all dark no contrast). I called Samsung and they had a repair man show up and he could not repair it because when he called Samsung (after an hour and half hold) he did not get the approval to replace what was needed, even though the repair man acknowledged the problem. I have 3 other Samsung’s in my house and they will be the last. I brought it back to Best Buy ( who were great by the way) and bought a Sony. The Sony solved the problem.
