It’s 4.8 Star for me! It has really variety color in it! It’s beautiful and clear! It’s bright when it’s on! When it’s white! It’s like light on but as colorful are so beautiful, enjoy that tv! I love it! When I watched movies as Netflix, HboMax , Disney Plus and Prime video movies, it’s awesome to watch it , it’s as like going to AMC Movies! Awesome!

Going from a 10 year old 50” 1080p to this 65” was a huge upgrade. The picture quality is phenomenal and Matt (Best Buy tv tech) was super helpful. Our old sound bar still works fine so I can’t attest to the sound. The Tv also came with some additional help (see pics lol). Playing SpiderMan (ps5) in this is absolutely stunning. Setup wasn’t too bad either, a learning curve having to create an account (that it didn’t work at first). I would recommend but with an * Reason for 4 stars (and *) is the price, especially for a year + old technology. If this would be closer to the $700 price point I think it be a no brainer. My wife and I saved up and with the $300 sale price, it was still very high on the price.

Great tv ! Picture is amazing and even though I have a soundbar, the tv apeaker isn't bad for daily tv watching. Definitely use my soundbar for movies. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is because sometimes the remote, though fully charged, doesnt respond and only way I have found to fix the problem is unplug tv for about 2 minutes and BAM!! remote works again.

      Hi NICURN,

Thank you for your review of Samsung’s Q80A TV and for sharing your experience with your remote intermittently not working. If you press any key on the remote, and the LED indicator at the top of your remote stays on for about 3 seconds rather than blinking, please try the following steps to reset your remote:
      1) Long press the RETURN key and ENTER key together for about 10 seconds if your remote was once paired already with the TV, you do not need to re-pair it again. However, if it was not paired with the TV, pairing must be done after the reset.
      2) The RETURN key is on the left side of your remote and looks like a curved, backwards pointing arrow.
      3) The ENTER key is the button in the center of your directional ring.

I hope this helps! Should you need further assistance, please contact Samsung TV Support at 1-800-SAMSUNG (ask for TVs), available 8AM -12AM EST M-F (9AM – 6PM EST Sat). Or text HELP to 62913.

The tv is great. It replaced an old plasma, which still looks good and played well, but it was time! The technology is so different now. The colors on this tv are great and the small details pop on the screen. The only downside is the blacks do not get as black as I would like, but I knew that when I purchased the tv. Overall I am satisfied with my purchase and would recommend.

The TV is pretty good. There is definitely some light bleed along to the top of the screen and it's been there since we bought it. For some reason I just had a significant amount of white hazing around the border between the video and letterbox black band and am wondering if this is something new. I've added a couple of pictures showing this haze, at first I assumed it was some weird effect from the lights in the room but it's worse with the lights off.

First of all, if you are reading this review for gaming on next-gen consoles, I won't be able to input because I do gaming on a PC with a separate setup. Now for the Tv review, I would like to say that the overall picture quality is great. HDR10 seems to work well and the upscaling is very good for a 'midrange' tv. I love the center stand and the solar charging remote is a nice touch. The panels are extremely thin, but that should be the case on any tv in this price range. Overall brightness is solid as well. Now I will point out that I returned a faulty Vizio Oled and decided upon this tv for a handful of reasons. Of course price was the first reason as Oleds tend to be expensive, which is why I ended up trying a Vizio Oled in the first place over an LG or Sony. I was able to pick the Samsung Q80A QLed up for a sale price of $1400. That being said, I feel like that is a fair price for this tv. Had I purchased it for the full retail price, I would have felt a sense of regret because I have seen the difference and Oled is definitely superior in many ways. Nonetheless, the Samsung Q80A has outstanding picture quality for everyday usage and definitely competes with Oled for what it is. The reasons I give this tv a 4 star is because there are some caveats. The Q80A holds up well in dark scenes and full array backlighting is solid, but there is still a slight blooming effect that is noticeable. Also, Samsung TVs are not compatible with Dolby Vision. Dolby Vision is being utilized more and more, and in my opinion is superior to standard HDR. And lastly, this tv along with many of Samsung's 2021 models does suffer a bit of DSE (dirty screen effect). I won't say that it is awful by any means but it is there. Most people probably won't notice it or even look for it though. To summarize my review, I think the Samsung Q80A is a good tv but not a great tv. I enjoy it, I really do. And I think it's competitive to the Oled market because it feasts on Oled weaknesses such as brightness, glare and fear of burn in, all while still producing great blacks and decent contrast. The price range I purchased it at ($1400) seems to me like the more fair option. At $1800, I would tell you to spend the extra money on an Oled because contrast on Oled is just bar none better. And at $1800, I think Dolby Vision should be an option. Regardless, the Samsung Q80A is a great looking Tv.

      Hi TechSavy,

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung Q80A TV, featuring HDR10+ for stunning colors and exceptional, revealing details in the brightest and darkest scenes.

HDR10+ format is an exciting scene-based dynamic tone-mapping technology. It automatically matches the dynamic range of the content to the TV on a scene-by-scene basis to maximize the capabilities of the TV, providing the best possible picture.

To ensure that your TV’s picture is optimized, be sure that you are always running the latest firmware update. You can check this by going to Settings > Support > Software Update or you can enable Auto Update for convenience.

My Samsung 46 inch from 2012 popped, zapped, and burned out with a stink that said I am done. In Best Buy I saw the TV I wanted. Great picture and sound with a great big price that I could not justify. I did not want to spend the money on this QLED 65 either, as I leaned toward the less costly flat screens. Talking to John the sales rep at Best Buy helped me to choose this Q80A series. This was one of the few times I really got an education about differences and price, or you get what you pay for, and he was actuality able to show me. Thank You John. Getting this home and mounting it to the wall I was not happy with the picture quality at all. The next morning cleaning up my mess, I found you get a better picture if you remove the protective plastic from the screen. So, the final thoughts are good picture, not great sound (get the sound bar) easy to use the apps. I am happy with this, as is a great upgrade from the old 46 inch.

Would have preferred the 75 inch, but $500 more is too much for that screen size increase. Default picture settings are quite saturated. Brightness is very good, reduced it from the default setting also. Wish TVs these days still had some of the older plugs for input. Haven’t yet figured out how to not have Samsung TV channel start when TV is first turned on. Sometimes the image isn’t quite as clear where there’s a lot of activity in a small area on the screen, such as line of scrimmage in a football game, but it clears up quickly; it’s worth noting I don’t see that on the 4K channels. Almost no delay when first turning the TV on, which I really like. Haven’t yet figured out how to have a screen saver active. Had it almost a month. So far I like it quite well after having it almost a month.

      ITbyPD,

Thank you for purchasing the Q80A TV and for your review. Please know that you can choose what your TV does when you turn it on by going to Settings > General > Smart Features

      1) When you set Autorun Smart Hub to on, the TV displays the Home Screen automatically when you turn the TV on.
      2) If Autorun Last App is set to on, the last used app is automatically run when you turn on the TV. Please know that the Last App Used function may not work with all apps.

I hope this tip helps. If there is anything we can do to further assist and improve your user experience, please do let us know by contacting Samsung Customer Support at 1-800-SAMSUNG (ask for TVs), available 8AM - 12AM EST, 7 days a week.

Great picture quality and color accuracy. This tv is in a super bright room and I thought it would be a bigger problem then it was, but I can still watch most content comfortably on super bright days. The only reason I give it four stars instead of five is because the "smart remote" fails to connect like 30% of the time. Not sure if it's because I have another Samsung TV in my house or there's just a bug in the programming.

      Hi KMFoster,

Thank you for your purchase and review of the new 2021 Q80A QLED 4K TV. We appreciate your feedback regarding the picture quality and remote included with your TV. If you experience any issues when watching TV in a bright room, we recommend turning on Adaptive Picture. Adaptive Picture gives you an optimized picture with a lighting system that automatically senses, reacts, and adjusts to the brightness of the space you're in.

To troubleshoot the connectivity issues you are experiencing with your remote, please try the following steps to reset your remote:
      1) Long press the RETURN key and ENTER key together for about 10 seconds you’re your remote was once paired already with the TV, you do not need to re-pair it again. However, if it was not paired with the TV, pairing must be done after the reset.

    A really good dumb TV

After doing my research, I came to the conclusion that the Samsung Q80A was the best TV for my budget. And while it seems to have worked out okay, when I first saw the picture quality, I thought I'd made a huge mistake. I initially just connected the TV to my wifi and used the native apps to do some streaming, and immediately noticed a hazy white cloud that started in the upper left corner and extended three quarters of the way across the top and a third of the way down. I tried multiple apps with the same result, and even called Samsung to trouble shoot the problem (a factory reset seemed to help temporarily, but the haze gradually reappeared). But then I plugged in my Roku Ultra and like magic the picture looked great. So bottom line, the onboard apps are terrible, but once you disable all the "smart" TV stuff, it works really well using external inputs. And frankly, I have come to HATE smart TVs and wish every manufacturer would stop making that the (usually) only option. The software is often terrible, they often don't offer all the services you want, they tend to stop supporting the apps within a few years hoping to make you buy a new TV, and they tend to be exponentially slower than a Roku. And did I mention in this case, yield an incredibly low quality picture? So I'd much rather get a dumb TV for less money then be forced to pay for a bunch of sub-par apps that I'm not going use, and that are anything but smart. But as pretty much all manufacturers do this, I guess I'm as pleased as I can be with the Q80A. As for sound, the TV speakers are also pretty terrible...but as I have a sound bar that I connected to the HDMI3 ARC channel, I'm getting really good sound. So I probably wouldn't recommend this TV if a) you don't plan to connect a sound bar or surround sound system, or b) you plan to use the onboard apps for streaming. Otherwise, it's got a good picture when using external inputs, good viewing angles, and certainly pops when displaying brightly colored images like you see on the sales floor (darker images are fine, though certainly not videophile level quality). But for the price, I mostly got what I expected, and what fell short were things that weren't as important for me personally.
